The question of Ravenclaw’s House mascot has been a topic of debate, with many official Ravenclaw merchandise bearing the name’s raven instead of its mascot, the eagle. The color shift was likely due to the blue and bronze colors not showing well on screen. The Ravenclaw house is known for its symbolism of wisdom and learning, while the eagle represents nobility and strength. The Ravenclaw crest features blue and bronze colors, representing the sky and a raven’s feathers, respectively. Blue is also associated with intelligence, wisdom, and intelligence.
In the Harry Potter films, the Ravenclaw colors were changed to blue and silver, which are more accurate to real-life British heraldry and more traditionally “British” in background and context. This change may have been a correction of a common mistake by the books’ author. Ravenclaw was already the tutelary animal of another school, and the house was often assumed with a raven as the house mascot. The house crest boasts Ravenclaw’s signature colors of blue and bronze, evocative of the air element, representing the sky and eagle.
Warner Brothers also used an incorrect color in the Ravenclaw crest, changing the colors to blue and silver. The most plausible explanation is that silver looks better than bronze. Ravenclaw means “black”, and ravenclaw means “black claw”, which is why the term is used to represent eagles.

Why isn’t the Ravenclaw mascot a Raven?
The animal associated with Gryffindor is the lion, not the griffin, as Rowena’s surname, Ravenclaw, was linked to eagles. It is probable that her family coat of arms included an eagle, which would have indicated her preference for eagles.
What is the original mascot of the Ravenclaw?
The eagle, symbolizing strength and immortality, is found in various locations in Hogwarts, including the bronze eagle knocker in the common room. The Grey Lady, the Ravenclaw house ghost, is a tragic figure, daughter of house founder Rowena Ravenclaw. House scarves are essential in chilly Hogwarts, and they are often used at Quidditch matches to cheer on fellow Ravenclaws. The Sorting Hat, who sings a song about dividing students into four houses, also provides wise words about the witches and wizards in Ravenclaw. Students can find their own Hogwarts house by visiting the website.
What were the original colors of Ravenclaw?
The Ravenclaw mascot was originally depicted in the books as blue and bronze, but the rationale for the change to blue and silver in the movie adaptation is unclear.
Are Ravenclaws Eagles or Ravens?
Ravenclaw, a fictional character, has both an Eagle and Raven symbol. The Ravenclaw house, named after its founder, Rowena Ravenclaw, is named after the Raven, not after the common bird. The Raven symbol is more symbolic than the Eagle, as they can soar where others cannot. The name Ravenclaw comes from the fact that Rowena’s daughter Helena was killed in Albania, and the Albanian folktale “The Tale of the Eagle” tells the story of how Albania became known as the land of the eagles.
Why Hermione wasn’t Ravenclaw?
The character of Hermione, a Ravenclaw, is not representative of the typical characteristics associated with that house. This is evidenced by the fact that Dumbledore, a Gryffindor, is arguably the most intelligent character in the series. She places a higher value on bravery, friendship, and practicality than on wit and learning.
Why wasn t Draco in Ravenclaw?
Draco Malfoy, born on 5 June 1980, is a character in the Harry Potter series who is sorted into Slytherin House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His parents, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, are both members of the Ministry of Magic and disgraced Death Eaters. Draco’s parents play a significant role in shaping the series’ plot and character development. Lucius’s allegiance to Lord Voldemort and his fall from grace provide a backdrop for Draco’s struggles with the dark side.
Narcissa’s love for Draco leads her to betray Voldemort in the final book, proving instrumental in his downfall. Draco’s parents play pivotal roles in shaping the series’ plot and character development. Born into wealthy, pure-blood families, Draco’s mother sings him a secretive lullaby passed down to the Black family.

Why did they change Ravenclaw colors?
The films changed the colors to blue and silver, possibly because silver looks better than bronze. Ravenclaws value intelligence as their defining feature, which is why they are in Ravenclaw. However, intelligence is a non-specific character trait, and all students must be intelligent to finish their studies at Hogwarts. The other three houses have more specific character traits like bravery (Gryffindor), loyalty (Hufflepuff), and ambition (Slytherin).
J. K. Rowling put more emphasis on certain houses than others, and Ravenclaw got the short end of the stick. Harry struggled to find most of the Horcruxes, but the diadem belonging to Rowena Ravenclaw was surprisingly easy to find, thanks to Harry talking to Rowena’s daughter Helena and persuading her to give him the diadem.
Why is Ravenclaw not popular?
The Ravenclaw house in Harry Potter’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is known for its four houses: Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff. Each house has unique traits that define its existence and create characters for its members. The houses are compared, and the question arises which one is the worst. Ravenclaw House stands out as a candidate for the worst, as it has some toxic traits among its members, including Luna Lovegood.
While there are some fantastic members, such as Luna Lovegood, there are not many Ravenclaw protagonists that stick with the reader. As the series progresses, fans learn more about Ravenclaw House, but there are not many Ravenclaw protagonists that stick with the reader.

📹 The Four Founders of Hogwarts Edit ❤️💛💚💙
Not my edit. Hey loves I’m a normal girl, who simps for fictional characters Robert Pattinson has my heart ✋I’m a …
I still find it funny that after the games been out almost 4 months and from perusal a lot of articles posted by many, its clear so many people still dont know that what you wear for attack/defense boosts, trait bonuses, etc. can be different from what you wear cosmetically. Noticed a lot of peoples characters look so dumb and goofy because those are all the items with the best levels and bonuses. But… after you put all of those on, you can change your appearance so that you keep all those traits and bonuses but can dress in what ever outfit you want.
I think the house you pick could have also determined the first classes you take aside from defense against the dark arts. Ravenclaw would get charms for puzzle solving, slytherin would get potions so they can become stronger faster, hufflepuff would either get herbology or beasts because most are so nice, and griffindor would get whichever hufflepuff wouldn’t get. Everyone would still get the same classes but at different points in the game.
What’s silly about all this is that to 100% the game, you have to find the map room with a character from each of the 4 house. That means you’ll get to go through all 4 of the Jackdaw quest lines. Given that you can get every other achievement in a single play through AND it only takes a couple of hours to reach the map room with a new character, it’s not really that big a deal to redo the first part of the game a few extra times.
I severely wish I chose Slytherin because I just love Sebastian’s storyline and character all around, but being able to go to Azkaban was a once-in-a-lifetime feel to me so I am also very glad I chose my house. The hufflepuff common room is totally my style so I’m absolutely loving it. I created my room of requirement to look similar to it, and it was an amazing idea.
It was only recently that i restarted my save file (old one was corrupted on an early point of the story) and my friend who plays ravenclaw told me he had a different story drive when going to the map chamber, while i had a ghost in a cave as a slytherin he had ravens. That was yesterday, we found out the story has differences between houses YESTERDAY
I did my first play through as a Ravenclaw to 100%. To get 100% on the achievements you have to play each house to the map chamber (essentially so you can play each of the different Jackdaw quests), which I did. I disagree that each quest storyline is all part of one big story. As a R, G, and S Jackdaw indicates he was looking for the treasure to impress Appalonia Black and in each of those three you get a map to a treasure chest that involves floating candles, a love letter to Appalonia and it ends with you finding a candle lit picnic and a treasure chest. The H version says that Appalonia accused Anne of killing Jackdaw. Jackdaw talks mostly of Anne and not his feelings for Appalonia (as in some of the others) and you never find the map and the love letter (unless I totally missed it and I definitely looked for it since it was the last play through I did). Because of this, I suspect each story is it’s own separate full story of Jackdaw’s misadventure.
That’s all really cool thanks man 😊 I’ve played it through as a Slytherin as I was sorted when the 1st movie came out as I lived just down the road from the studio and was turning 11 😋 And I just can’t play as anything else now 😄 But you haven’t pointed out that Appolonia and Jackdaw were Slytherins and he keeps complimenting you like he’s your best mate. And that the headmaster as useless as he is, is also a Slytherin and when you imitate him with Polyjuice potion you can instruct everyone in the Grand Hall that your house colours are the official colours now, and he compliments you if you use the Killing Curse infront of him towards the end. Also did you notice the classic feeling of being judged for which house you were sorted into, the NPCs say so many different things to keep the sense of rivalry we had for eachother I love it 😏 My aunt was so happy when she was sorted into Hufflepuff and all I said was “well that’s embarrassing” 😄 By the way did anyone else notice a little thing from the book that JK Rowling clearly thought would cause arguments and I thought was brilliant to see in the game 🙂 The girls have bigger dorms, multiple floors with en-suit bathrooms and can go into the guys dorms without being thrown, slid or blocked because “girls can be trusted more than boys” 😂
I’ve been playing through as Gryffindor and after seeing the other common rooms on this vid, I think ours is the lamest. I agree the Jackdaw story is kinda messed up but it does make it interesting. I only picked it up recently as we finally got a decent sale on it and when I got up to the quest for visiting Anne at the Sallow’s house I had some major questions. There are only 2 beds in the place but don’t 3-4 people live there? Anne’s sickness can’t be cured and her uncle is super defensive about trying to cure her? Did she get pregnant to the uncle and have a miscarriage? Don’t think trying to cure a “curse” would fix regular ailments. Prob not the case but it did make me wonder…
I went with Ravenclaw. I just beat the game today I thought it was a great game. The friendship with Sebastian was awesome and full of witty Ravenclaw/Slytherin friendly insults. Honestly i liked it. Sebastian and Ominis was my Slytherin Friends, Natsai was my Gryffindor friend, and Poppy was my Hufflepuff friend. We had many great adventures and being in different houses didn’t deter any friendships.
I’m not a harry potter guy, but I remember as a kid always getting hufflepuff on quizzes, even when I was grade 4 (we were doing a Harry Potter game for the year) when I was choosing my house team (which was randomly chosen through picking up a paper slip from a hat) I got hufflepuff twice, even though my teacher let me go a second time. And I would always be upset cause it got a lame animal mascot called a badger and it was overlooked in the movies which disappointed me, but seeing hufflepuff being the better house team in legacy puts a smile on my face.
Idk if it was a glitch but i played as Ravenclaw and did the mission with nearly headless nick and the pumpkin patch game. I think i also did the owlery puzzle too. I don’t remember how i started the pumpkin game where you have to blast them but i do remember talking to nearly headless Nick and him sending me to find rotten meat to present to the other ghosts and they told me about the game they play with pumpkins
I didn’t realize you even got to pick. I just answered two or three questions and was placed. Perhaps if I was more dedicated to the lore and canon it’d be obvious, but my son and I got different houses and tried to answer the questions honesty. I’m terrified of snakes, so I had but one wish… not Slytherin! (only due to my personal phobia).
The common rooms, although well designed, are absolutely useless. I forgot they existed because there’s literally no reason to go there. If you had to learn spells or change clothes there or something there would be a reason to go back. As soon as you get the other room (no spoilers) there’s even less reason to go to your common room.
Look what this game needs is a kiss from RDR2 and a spell that allows you to sit down. I really wanted to pet my Hippogriff but noooo, i have all these options to create furniture but can i sit down …Noooo, i can go into all the bathrooms looking for treasures but dare any student get caught tongue locked…nooooo
True. Hufflepuff got the best side quest in the game. Shame because you’d think Azkaban would have been linked with Gryffindor or Slytherin as they had the most ties to it in the franchises. But I guess it’s to spice things up for hufflepuff as they are the nicest hogwarts house. Where as gryffindor and Slytherin always have something going down. Wish we had quiddich that would have made the rivalries between the houses much more relevant. Especially between the slytherins and gryffindors. I was hoping to wallop a few bludgers at some snakes. 😢
