Why Do Demonic Rituals Involve Goats?

Roman Catholic society decried it as a form of continental witchcraft. The goat’s head was incorporated into a representation of Baphomet, a French corruption of the name of the prophet Muhammad. Christians believed that Baphomet was an invented pagan or gnostic idol or deity that the Templars were accused of worshipping.

In modern day, Baphomet is most commonly identified as the Satan goat and the symbol of the Church of Satan, a modern religious organization. Satan, also known as the Devil, is an entity in Abrahamic religions that seduces humans into sin or falsehood. In Judaism, Satan is seen as an agent.

Goats are associated with Baphomet, which is the template for medieval Satan. Satan is often shown in popular depictions with horns on its head, furry legs, and cloven hooves of a goat.
