Charles Manson, a shaggy leader of a cult-like clan of hippie types, was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy along with three women. In 1971, Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, including film actress Sharon Tate. The prosecution argued that while Manson never directly ordered the murders, his ideology constituted an overt act of conspiracy.
The evidence at this trial shows that Charles Manson was the leader of the conspiracy to commit these murders, but there is no evidence that he personally killed any of the seven victims in this case. Manson’s followers tried to make their murders look like they were done by the Black Panthers, but the evidence at this trial shows that he was the leader of the conspiracy to commit these murders.
Manson planned these murders and trained his people to do them, and some of the members committed a series of at least nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. Later that year, Watson was convicted of the Tate murders, and Manson was also convicted of two murders that he did. They are also charged with the crime of conspiracy to commit murder.
Various parties have argued for other motives for the murders, such as writers, police, and the Black Panthers. Despite being convicted on all charges of conspiracy and murder, various parties have argued for other motives, such as the involvement of Satan’s Slaves in the Tate-LaBianca murder case.

His charisma and manipulative abilities attracted followers, who influenced his unconventional beliefs and philosophies. 📹 The Truth About the Manson Family Could Be On the Tex Watson Tapes
Taken from JRE #1459 w/Tom O’Neill: https://youtu.be/J36xPWBLcG8.
I wouldn’t expect anyone to have one shred of empathy for this guy but when you consider his history and how he came into this world you couldn’t expect anything different from this fool. He was hated, unwanted, abused and neglected from the day he was born. You take someone with a history like that, shine a spotlight on him and tell him that he’s important and that his opinion matters and he’s going to become insatiable with a false sense of power. This guy should have never been offered the first interview or seen even one camera. He should have been cast away into a dark cell and forgotten about forever until the day he died.
Actually he says,, They did me wrong and so i can do it too” Thats a bullshit argument. That way you just say that you dont have any responsibility and thats a lie. Sharon didnt harm him, why didnt he try to kill the rats that did him wrong in the past.Instead he sacrifices an innocent beautiful angel.Manson is not the devil but definitely his advocate
he don’t care? he tries to block it out by talking about Vietnam. when (Sharon Tate) is said at 0:16 and when he says (unborn baby) at 0:17 you can see him blink and look away change emotion then go back to the psych again to mask any feelings shown. it sure hit him when them parts are said. the fact he can then hide that is… well crazy
All’s I can say for this evil insane person is that he was sad. He was messed up, fucked up attitude but I blame the interviewer for the way he asked the question. He should’ve elaborated on the fact that the person who was intended for harm no longer lived there but that your followers in fact murdered a pregnant woman instead and I would’ve said slowly to make sure Manson understood thouroughly the damage. Yet bcuz Manson would always avoid it by talking alot of mumbo jumbo proved he could careless.
I know Sharon made it to heaven.. tgey published her pictures of death and shamed her .. i like to be close to anything about her because it teminds me to pray myself — like she did when dealing with these types of people. I have to deal with thsi same stuff — they humiliated me to where people have no compassion for me — im nit even human — they traffic me to entertain themselves — nit sexually but to laugh at my situation. Its so horrible i pray to die everyday. They kill people here and push them to suicide.. including people i love .
the reason why he could not say nothing is because the truth roman did a hit on sharon his wife and her friends. sharon knew too much about roman perverted ways so she had to die of course he either hired charles manson and clan or we can believe there was other’s involved in this child traffking that roman was into wake up people
funny how this guy is always shown in short clips. Where the edit makes it looks one way, while it may be another way if given more context. Alfred taught us that already, how to manipulate people. The guy who put this up 5 years ago says it is not the best clip. Well, it does what it was supposed to do. Which is:: paint a picture in people’s heads. You at least kept the line of Vietnam in. most would have brushed that away. Because why should this man care about some girl in Hollywood belonging to some child molester like Polanski if the public does not care about MILLIONS of people in another country? And it is again the same story today. You may think of Manson what you want, but it is obvious that the entire Manson case is a bunch of fairy tales all strung together to make it look like it is a real story. And the lemmings fall for it.
Really a crummy thing to do by not releasing those tapes. LAPD should be really ashamed. There could be so many other unsolved mystery’s in that tape that would give families some type of closure as to what happened to there loved ones. Not to mention we would actually be able to get some real closure on why a poor innocent lady who was 8 1/2 pregnant was slain as she cried out for her mother. She begged for the life of her unborn child. I think the people should know what kind of evil motives were behind all this and I dont think Charles Manson is the only answer.
I went to a parochial high school whose principal was a Catholic priest. He was the chaplain in Vacaville Prison before that while Manson was there. Manson knew how to manipulate the system and used his time for “counseling” with the priest to stay out of his cell as long as he could. This priest audio recorded all of these talks with that maniac. I have heard a few very small excerpts from those tapes. Manson wasn’t a dummy, but he was a sociopath obviously. They would discuss/argue dogma for as long was allowed. Point being those recordings did not fall under any attorney/client privilege. The priest has since passed but those tapes are somewhere.
If we start violating attorney-client privilege then we worsen the chances of a fair trial. Tex watson’s attorney does not want the tapes made public because there were 3 aspects of Sharon Tate’s murder that could add torture to Tex’s charges. 1. The slash across her face to “make her be quiet” 2. The stab wound in the back of the thigh to keep her from kicking at Tex. And 3. That she was hung while being stabbed. If torture was added to Tex’s charges the only 2 outcomes was life without parole and death. Boyd was a smart man and his plan was to get Tex sentence reduced and hospitalized instead of in prison
Release the LAPD case files, FBI case files, CIA files, and the Criminal Justice files on the case, to historians and journalists and others, and let history make the final judgement on this case. Enough of the Bugliosi tale. The US govt liked it, Hollywood loved it, but that is not justice. Justice is truth, the whole truth, and the whole story. True justice for Sharon and the others. American justice? Sounds like a good idea.
This whole thing makes so much more sense if you’re familiar with Dave McGowan’s 2014 book, Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon: Laurel Canyon, Covert Ops & The Dark Heart of the Hippie Dream . McGowan: “To the extent that (the book) has a central thesis, I would say that it is that the music and counterculture scene that sprung to life in the 1960s was not the organic, grassroots resistance movement that it is generally perceived to be, but rather a movement that was essentially manufactured and steered. And a corollary to that would be that for a scene that was supposed to be all about peace, love and understanding, there was a very dark, violent underbelly that this book attempts to expose…” “…Hippie culture is now viewed as synonymous with the anti-war movement, but as the book points out, that wasn’t always the case. A thriving anti-war movement existed before the first hippie emerged on the scene, along with a women’s rights movement, a black empowerment/Black Panther movement, and various other movements aimed at bringing about major changes in society. All of that was eclipsed by and subsumed by the hippies and flower children, who put a face on those movements that was offensive to mainstream America and easy to demonize.” dangerousminds.net/comments/classic_rock_conspiracy_theory_weird_scenes_inside_the_canyon
This was a great broadcast Also still in my mind wondering why they won’t release those tapes??!!! My God they release pictures of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Perlman’s horrifying death photos which was the most horrendously excruciating thing I think I’ve ever seen And I’m still wondering why they even showed those photos but yet they won’t release these tapes! It almost makes me feel like they want to perpetuate Charles Manson to keep making money off of this horrific crime for as long as they can… unless anyone else has a alternative view please I would love to hear it I just don’t get it anymore
I read HELTER SKELTER by VB in 9th grade. It was a formative book and led me into a career as an investigator. Given everything involved, by all known angles – natural and supernatural – with the CIA, the Federal prison system, Rosemary’s Baby, Polanski and the Satanist Jay Sebring…and Charlie, it is the Deepest, Darkest Pit one could fall into in American Lore. It’s a story of Despair.
6:30 if Leslie Van Houten’s attorney wants the tapes because he thinks they’d benefit her and support what she’s been saying all these years about the murders and the “Family” then most likely the tapes would SUPPORT the “official” version of the story, NOT reveal some new and earth-shattering revelation about what when on. Outside of her courtroom antics, Leslie has always maintained that Manson was in charge at the ranch and the night of the murders, AND she was recorded as far back as November of 1969 telling detectives about the Helter Skelter concept Charlie taught them about and about how she and a number of the more hardcore members believed it. This was before the police officially announced murder indictments and before everyone was rounded up, long before the trial. ONeill causally reports about Leslie’s attorney wanting access to the tapes because it supports her story. Leslie’s story is more in line with the narrative Bugliosi wrote about.
During the Gary Hinman trial, Bobby Beausoleil shared a holding cell with Manson. Bobby says Manson told him the Tate murders happened because of Terry Melcher’s rejection of Manson’s music. That interview is in the documentary: Manson: The Lost Tapes. Manson himself corroborated Bobby’s story in three interviews.
Joe I’m a seasoned senior with you as a guilty pleasure. I like your interviews and most of your guests that are interesting to me but, your language burns my ears. It seems you do tame your words when your guests don’t swear which I appreciate. Keep up your good work AND remember not all your listeners are young people.
Did you know Clem went on to be an amazing jazzy guitar player singer? I have a piece of it at the end of my Manson article & it was a sold out show in Paris! He is really good, but I wonder if the others he plays with really knows who he is. I want this mans book! I did talk a little about it in my article. So interesting. When I get the book though I’ll probably need to do a article on just it! Such a great story & amazing research.
Once again -here’s the story. Charlie wanted to be a professional musician. He was in contact with Terry Melcher -a music producer. Melcher made some promises to Charlie that he did’nt keep. At the same time Tex Watson gets in a jam with someone and Charlie “takes care ” of the guy. Now Charlie wants the favor returned -specifically -he wants to harass Terry Melcher. He tells Tex and the girls to go to Melcher’s house where they find other people there. I have’nt established if Charlie speciifically told them to kill people . Anyone?
Real simple, go talk to Tex Watson himself. He is still alive and in jail. I think he is 77 years old so you don’t have much time, and he doesn’t have much to lose. Forget about taking to misinform Joe and get your ass I front of Tex Watson while you still can. Or maybe you won’t, and that makes me wonder.
THE JUSTICE AT THE 11TH CIR. EDUCATED ME DURING AN ORAL ARGUMENT THAT THE “CRIME FRAUD EXCEPTION” TO THE ATTORNEY CLIENT PRIVILEGE APPLYS TO ATTORNEY CLIENT CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT CRIME, LIKE MURDER AND ITS COVER-UP. IN ADDITION, THE ATTORNEY HAS A “POSITIVE DUTY” TO REPORT SUCH. SO, YOU CAN DO IT, LET THEM SUE, SET UP A NON-PROFIT TO GET THE EVIDENCE AND LET THEM SUE THE NON PROFIT . BE JUDGMENT PROOF TO GET YOUR PROOF. DO THE RIGHT THING AND THE RIGHT THING WILL HAPPEN
I really, really, want to hear those tapes, what if this guy is right & there were other murders mentioned, people whose family members went missing could finally find out what happened to them, that’s why I’d like to hear them. That, & I’m curious about whether his story of what happened was different to the story we’ve all been told.
Manson had a shitty life from beginning to end! It’s hard to believe a Mother couldn’t love such a sweet baby boy. (Look at baby pics) For those who say : What about Sharon Tate’s baby? Manson didn’t do that!! He didn’t tell anyone to kill Sharon and Her baby. If Manson had been there, NO WAY would He slaughter Sharon Tate like that!
This YouTube article has 312k views how many subscribers does Joe have. Last week tonight with John Oliver does a call to action on HBO and the FCCs website shuts down This is free Joe do a call to action every Joe Rogan follower goes down to Los Angeles Police department and Stan’s outside wearing three piece suits and bowler hats one of us walks in and demands to see the taps when the spokesman to leave or welll arrest you the spokes man say before you you do you may want to have a look outside the window and the see the line of men in bowler hats and three prices suits and then the let the spokesman into see brother Jacob I mean the tapes
If those tapes even possibly contain information on other unsolved missing persons & murder cases, then go straight to the beauru of corruption (might be called something else in the US). It’s absolutely illegal for any PD to hide evidence of crimes & that’s exactly what that would be unless they can show they’ve been doing an investigation since the ended up in their posession… & given only last year yet another rogue Sheriff was booted out of there & they’ve had too much corruption & scandals on record to count, I don’t think it’d be something so easily brushed under the rug with the beauru… You can also file suit against the PD for withholding records that legally should be released under FOIA, but unfortunately all communications between an Attorney & their client are never up for public viewing. It’s even illegal for someone giving testimony to be asked about anything discussed with their Attorney/Client… but should the beauru get on this (which legally they should!!), then eventually at the very least reports & so on would be released detailing the information in the tapes, at least as much as “a confession” to some extent… If Watson hadn’t paid his Attorney yet or hadn’t been officially hired by the state to represent him at the time the tapes were made, or papers signed then technically he wouldn’t of been his Attorney at that time so they wouldn’t be attorney/client privilege? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Just clutching at every possibility I can here cause these poor families of possible other victims NEED to know their loved ones fate & be able to bring them home & put them to rest!
It’s all ok now. Tex said so … the reason is because Jesus has forgiven him and when our lord and savior Jesus Christ forgives you it’s all ok. Tex is now a preacher in prison and he spreads the good news of our wonderful lord and savior and he had 4 children to oh boy it’s all so fun and exciting !!!!
Tex Watson you say you’re sorry and you may very well may be, but first Steven Parent and then Jay Sebring, you refused to hear their pleas. Next Wojciech Frykowski and Abigail Folger, struck down as they attempted to flee. Then Sharon begging for the life of her and her baby, yet never were moved to mercy . Their lives were taken, never a new day to see, now yours forever in prison never again to be free .
Society creates its own nightmares,.. your deepest fears and insecurities come out in ways that creates monsters. For years people wanted security, so they started putting everyone in prison. Then they started putting people in prison for stupid shit, were they turned into monsters that were released back into society. Fear is a great motivation, but its not the most effective or efficient one. Don’t let it drive u
Tex is the obvious psychopath in all this, and it’s pretty clear why they wanted to take Charlie Manson down. The fact that he wasn’t there, and they had no evidence except their word against his, and still make him die in prison is disgusting. He was too dangerous for them to maintain their own power and credibility. The narrative they pushed is still aggressive to this day. That is evidence enough of Manson’s innocence. All Tex said to the weird girls “Charlie said you do this”, probably referring to himself in the third person. One of Tex’s nicknames was “crazy charlie”. The “family” did not assign that to Manson. One more thing: They let one of the actual killers walk free, while the one who wasn’t there kept being denied parole til his dying day… diabolical.
For the sake of what’s on those tapes the conversational value is what they’re locking down theoretically speaking you could be looking at a conversation that is so stereotypical I use that term loosely in my own opinion I think those tapes are only going to be released to the highest qualified of psychiatrists and therapists for the sake of MKUltra use
I like Joe Rogan in some ways. He has common sense and asks decent practical questions. I understand that like Larry King, Rogan doesn’t prepare but just listens and asks questions. It led Larry King to getting embarrassed a couple times and he was mocked with media sensationalism, but Larry King also has thousands of hours of solid interviews. if Joe Rogan wanted to be the new Larry King, I think he’d be really solid. The problem with Joe Rogan is that he has pretensions of being some kind of public intellectual and he just isn’t. He’s a practical thinker with common sense, he’s not a genius abstract thinker.
I’ve studied this story of the Manson family for years now and I struggle to find very many facts that seem obviously true. The entire thing is like a Rubik’s cube. I tend to see Nikolas Schreck as the smartest researcher on the topic, but I still think the testimony of certain individuals leads one to think Manson did have a form of mind control ability and the Helter Skelter myth is true to a degree. But then Manson is the only person in prison that has not changed his story.
HOW and why? Are they talking about potential future convictions or are we talking about the ones we know? Don’t we know HOW? As far as the WHY, IMO you can denounce Helter Setand race war and whatever, but it doesn’t change a thing about who killed these innocent souls. The only one that can benefit from those tapes is possibly Leslie.
My roomie lived next door to the La Bianca’s and his roommate at the time had Manson’s recordings and would not give them to Manson. He has been interviewed and so was Phil Kaufman his roommate at the time. The right questions were not asked, and they did not disclose this info. I know there is more to all of this than has been told. Great interview.
The way I look these murders is, if your friends told your told you jump of a bridge would you do it? Probably not, I don’t see how manson has anything to do with this, I don’t think he had the gull to actually kill anyone, having Charlie telling these people to kill is weak, the ones who went and killed are true killers
