It was easy to guess that he was walking on plexiglass. However, it was still very interesting to hear that the plexiglass isn’t necessarily invisible from all angles. I also liked how one of the swimmers swam in front of the magician’s path of walking. That gave the illusion that there was no fixed platform on which the magician was walking.
I remember during the 90’s where people accuse magicians of selling their soul to the devil. To my young mind I asked my self the following question, ‘If you have sold your soul to the devil, why wish for an ability to just walk on water when you can have the ability to be rich and buy a boat?’ This made me more skeptic that I avoid center focus (magician) and look at the background for possible clues. I figured out that there is a glass platform on 0:45. In that camera angle (specially if you watch at 0.5 speed), you will a rectangular body of water that has less ripples and waves (less waves noticeable at 2x the speed). It is just that the Magician who is acting great was at the center focus. When you focus on the pool at 0:45 you notice that there are no swimmers on a specific area then there are 2 swimmers very far on his walking path. To my mind could there be a gap? And when it was revealed there was… I kinda am skeptic on camera trick as the walking on water is shot mostly on a far view. What made me curious was how the girl was able to swim under. To my mind I assume it was a block of glass. I was surprised that It turned out to be a table. The idea of constructing this magic trick is very ingenious.
