After Hours, Is Magic Kingdom Worth It?

Disney After Hours events are held at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on select nights in 2024. These events are hard ticketed with limited attendance and low wait times for attractions. The event is considered worth the cost, especially with the addition of TRON Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The price of Disney After Hours is comparable to a regular daytime ticket, and it can be worth it depending on various factors. On the date of the author’s visit, it was only a dollar more than a regular daytime ticket. The event costs $155-175 per person, with discounts for DVC owners and passholders. It takes about 3-6 hours in the park but is definitely worth it for those who can stay up late and attend an After Hours event at Magic Kingdom.

MK does a good job of after hours due to the many rides to spread out the crowd. Epcot also offers a variety of rides, but rides may not be as popular as during Extra Magic Hours evenings.

While the price may not always be worth it, it is not an indictment of the event. If the price doesn’t bother you, it is still a worthwhile experience for those looking to explore the park’s attractions.

  • In 2019 I did a 4 day solo trip and I added the after hours event for both MK and HS and I had so much fun! It really allowed me to pack more into my very short trip and it was a great experience! I was in awe of seeing the parks that empty, too!! It brought a whole new level of magic into a Disney vacation!

  • I loved Magic Kingdom After Hours during my trip this year. It was just such a wonderful experience seeing the park at night, and the fact that nearly all of my favourite rides are more or less walk-on’s, those 2 reasons alone make it well worth it in my opinion. I was a bit tired the following morning, due to myself not getting back to my hotel til half 1 in the morning, and I only got 3 and a half hours sleep, because I had to be up early next day, but again, worth it. I’m doing the event again, same time next year, can’t wait!

  • Your After Hours article for MK last year convinced us to try it for the very first time last week, and we had an absolute blast!! Very similar itinerary and experience as yours in this article. One thing we had to add was food when we first got there at 7pm….we had been in AK all day and didn’t want to waste park time there with eating dinner (it was our first trip there!), so we hopped on the bus to MK (yea for dropoff at front door:)) and grabbed a very quick bite at Cosmic Ray’s b4 hitting the rides. Love your website!!!

  • Thanks for taking us along again Rob. BTW, “People Mover” hands down.😀 We had so much fun during our stay at the Contemporary we decided that we will be back next year this time. And, during that conversation we also decided that an “After Hours” event will be included. So, this article was very timely, and is in my saved list. One question, is the purchase of a regular day pass required before one can purchase an After Hours pass?
