Is Magic Kingdom Worth It For Genie Plus?

Genie+ is a Disney attraction that offers a variety of attractions, including Lightning Lane rides at Magic Kingdom. However, not all rides are eligible for Genie+, and it is not necessary to purchase it every day of your trip. To maximize the use of Genie+, it is essential to have a game plan in place.

The Magic Kingdom Genie+ recommendation is highly recommended due to the number of lightning lane rides available. However, some rides may not be suitable for Genie+, so it is important to have a game plan in place. Genie+ is worth it for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, but it may not be suitable for Epcot if you prefer early starts.

In terms of time vs. money cost, Genie+ is definitely worth it for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. If you don’t like early starts, you might consider it for Epcot. Overall, Genie+ is worth it for most people, even those who don’t like early starts. The time saved by skipping standby lines and the number of attractions available with Genie+ make it a worthwhile investment.

In summary, Genie+ is a valuable addition to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, offering a variety of attractions and a more efficient way to save time and money. It is worth considering Genie+ if you want to avoid waiting in lines and enjoy more rides.

📹 Is Disney Genie Plus for Magic Kingdom at Disney World Really Worth The Money?

For me purchasing Disney Genie+ at the Magic Kingdom is absolutely WORTH IT… on the right days. One of my favorite benefits …

Is Genie Plus the same as Lightning Lane?

The Disney Genie Plus service at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort has been renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and individual Lightning Lane access has been renamed Lightning Lane Single Pass. While no modifications have been implemented with respect to pass functionality at Disneyland, the nomenclatural alteration at Walt Disney World presents novel opportunities for the formulation of your selections.

What’s the difference between Genie Plus and Lightning Lane?

The Lightning Lane is the physical line utilized for rides, circumventing the Stand-By line. Disney Genie Plus offers a premium service that enables patrons to schedule return times for Lightning Lane access.

Which Genie Plus rides sell out?

At Epcot, Genie+ reservations for Remy’s Adventure and Frozen Ever After are often sold out, making it difficult for guests to secure a reservation for both attractions. Early use of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass can result in a Soarin’s reservation. Hollywood Studios’ Slinky Dog Dash is the hardest Genie+ reservation to obtain, making it a good choice for those seeking a Lightning Lane Multi Pass. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Genie+ may not be necessary, but it can be an attractive option for park hopping, allowing guests to select three attractions for their next visit.

Do you need Genie Plus for Magic Kingdom?

Disney’s Hollywood Studios uses Genie+, a line-skipping service, while Magic Kingdom doesn’t require such vigilance due to its larger attraction roster and superior capacity. Genie+ is the permanent replacement to free FastPass+ for select attractions in each park, costing $16 per person per day and excluding the most popular ride per park. It’s a digital version of the paper FastPass system from the “old days”.

What is the 120 minute rule at Disney World?

What is the 120 minute rule at Disney World?

The Genie 120-minute rule allows for multiple Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations at a time, with the rule allowing two hours since the last reservation or two hours since park opening. If you’re holding a reservation when the 120-minute rule applies, you can have two at a time. This is called stacking.

Cancellations of individual Lightning Lane reservations are not possible, but if the ride is down during your reservation window and you cannot use it later, it can be refunded after the park closes. To cancel a reservation, click on the reservation and select Cancel. You can choose to cancel only some members of your party or all of them.

Modifications to a Lightning Lane reservation are not possible, but they can be made to change the time or to a different attraction in the same park. However, modifying a Lightning Lane reservation may change the time when you can book a new one, as there are two times that govern when you can make a new reservation: when your return window opens and the time you made it.

If the start of your return window was within two hours of when you made the reservation, the time you can book again might change. Modifying a reservation won’t affect your eligibility if it wasn’t the one blocking your eligibility.

At this time, you can only modify a Lightning Lane reservation to an attraction in a different park.

Does Genie Plus sell out Magic Kingdom?

The Disney Genie+ product has reached full capacity at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in an exceptionally short time frame, with the maximum number of users registered in less than an hour following the product’s release. The price of the Multi-Park and Magic Kingdom Genie+ option was set at $29, which is just below the record-high price of $35. As Walt Disney World enters its peak week of attendance, it is anticipated that prices will increase in the coming days.

Does it matter when you buy Genie Plus?

It is recommended that visitors to the park purchase the Genie+ system in advance of their visit, as it is currently only available for purchase during park days. This is particularly important for first-time users of the Disney Genie system. It is possible to make one’s initial selection at 7 a. m. in order to achieve an optimal experience.

When should you buy Genie Plus?

Disney Genie+ may be purchased on the day of the park visit via the Disney app, subject to availability, beginning at 12 a. m. ET. This option is available regardless of whether the purchaser has an Annual Pass or a multi- or single-day ticket.

  • My 7 year old daughter has been perusal your articles for almost a year. She eats her meals while pretending to give a dining review and then she pretends to be booking lightening lanes. This morning she said she was fiddle faddeling and got got by the genie. I am cracking up! I hope we get to meet you in the park sometime!

  • It’s so interesting.. last September I went to Orlando for the first time. Mostly to visit Universal but I wanted to visit MK for a day. I did purchase Genie +. When I returned home I realized I only had 2 pictures at MK and dozens at Universal. I finally realized why… I was on my phone the entire time at MK. Walking, in lines and on rides trying to book the next attraction or mobile order food. I zigzagged all over the place and that wasn’t fun. If I go back I’m not purchasing that again.

  • I just wanted to take the time to say “Thank you” for this set of articles. My family took a trip to the parks a few weeks ago and got Genie+ for all parks except Animal Kingdom. While I initially balked at spending the extra money, using your tips really helped maximize how much we could get done. When most rides had 30+ minute waits, and with two younger kids who would not handle waiting in line in the heat of Florida summer, it was definitely worth the added cost to us. These articles were a godsend and helped us quickly get up to terms with the current iteration of Genie+, which meant more time for getting on rides and meeting characters which my kids greatly appreciated. ‘Fiddle faddle’ was definitely one of our most used phrases during our time in the parks, haha.

  • We just visited Disney last week, and the Genie was worth it in MK for my daughter and I. We used Lightening Lane on 10 rides- walk on to 5 minute waits. It’s especially worth it if you’re purchasing for less people. We were totally fine Not buying Genie for EPCOT because there’s not many rides to use it in. The most we waited for any ride was 30minutes for Remy & Frozen (had virtual queue for Guardians and did single rider for Test Track). Even with it being summer, crowds weren’t bad. Maybe it’s the extreme heat and high costs? Anyways, I’ve only found Genie Plus helpful at MK or maybe during busiest times of year (Christmas, Spring Break, July 4th). Thanks Molly for the most helpful articles ❤

  • I watch as I love all your articles. I am ever so grateful that my 2 grown sons and I had our first magical time at Disney World in September of 2019! With all the changes and now being on your phone so much of the time trying to figure everything out… I have no desire to return. The experience is being “present” for your magical time – not being on the phone constantly.

  • Molly-thank you SO MUCH for this article series on Genie+!! I watched it twice before my trip (I am at WDW now) and I am now a Genie+ BELIEVER!! Complete GameChanger from my last trip when I really didn’t know how to maximize the system. Your tips and tricks for “fiddle faddling” are making my park days so much better. Thanks again!!

  • A character article would be amazing! Any tips of how to see the most characters, the best places to find them and any specific order that works best! Also, character dining info’ would be great. Be good to see a bit of a comparison of what each one is like – both experience and the food. It would also be really helpful for any tips to booking dining (character or other) 👍🏻 Love the articles. Thanks guys 👍🏻

  • This series has been so fun and interesting to watch! Are you going to do this series again but with the 3 of you? It think it would be interesting to see if you have the same experience with the 3 of you trying to use Genie and using your fiddle faddle tricks compared to just you. Can’t wait to see your next series 🥰

  • We so appreciate these kinds of articles! Thank you for doing this! We were there in May and that was our learning curve of genie plus. Took us a couple days to get the hang of it. We will be there the week after thanksgiving and now feel confident to rock this genie plus! Challenge excepted! I am always up to a good challenge lol! We are looking forward to your future articles of tips and a good look at the Hollywood Jollywood and Mickeys very merry Christmas. My husband and I will be attending both. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary! First trip without taking any kids with us!! 🎉🎉

  • Excellent article Series Molly and Alan, where would you place Splash when it comes back? I have currently put it in my tier 1 list, assuming it won’t be a fancy ride of course… Btw, 1.11.50, you have put Disneyland castle article, instead of Magic Kingdom haha… Looking forward to your park hopping article in this series! 🙂 Will you redo this next year when Splash opens? 🙂 I will defo be using genie+ for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and consider a splurge on Animal Kingdom and Epcot depending on the day. Thanks again for your fantastic advice, I will be going September and January every year, from September 2024 onwards, and can’t wait! 🙂

  • I love all your advice! I used a lot of it on our trip a few weeks ago. Hoping to someday run into you at the parks. I think a character article would be great! I agree that how you talk to the characters even as an adult can make all the difference. One of my favorite moments on my last trip with just my husband was Tigger photo bombing our picture with Pooh at Crystal Palace.

  • Confirmed my thoughts on the matter for our next 4-park trip. Doing ILL for Flight of Passage at AK combined with a later in the day arrival, and Genie+ everywhere else. Enchanted Tales is a high priority (it wasn’t back when we were last at DW), so we’ll prob get a LL for that and then do it standby as well if my kids are as enamored with it as I think they will be! SUPER helpful, thanks Molly!

  • Happy anniversary! Thanks for all these “is it worth it? articles. I would, though, like to see a article where you actually do the parks in the most efficient and “typical” way. Like you said, there really is no need to book a lightning lane for Belle’s adventures. Could you show a way to look for the most time saving lightning lanes and show what time filler rides to use between them? I’m curious to see how many attractions you could accomplish in 1 day using the best practices methods, rather than the challenge methods.

  • I’d say totally worth it. Last Saturday we didn’t wait in one line. We rode everything and almost everything atleast twice and did Tron 2 times once during the day and once at night on LL. The park is really nice with the low crowds! If there is anything beneficial to Disneys poor decision making. It’s the low park crowds.

  • Happy One Year Anniversary. 🎉🍻🎉 For year two, I would love to see a article on how to use Genie+ in MK or EPCOT with minimal walking. I hate having to run all around constantly retracing steps just to get to all the attractions in a day. I had over 20,000 at EPCOT. Can you efficiently use Genie+ as you are moving through each land/area?

  • Super helpful for our upcoming October trip….Ive used Genie plus I think once in WDW before a few years back but now it just feels so complicated and stressful. Are there any articles about using Genie plus with a later arrival? With the time difference I just don’t see us getting up to rope drop or just picking rides at 7 am

  • I definitely do not hit the parks as hard as you do Molly. I did accomplish a lot at Magic Kingdom last time I was there but I had different priorities. It seems like for my style of park going only Hollywood Studios would be a must purchase for Genie+. Yes to character interaction article! Thanks for all of your hard work.

  • At some point we will pay to enter and then genie + the rides iLL. This isn’t just a Disney pricing thing tho. I have paid almost 800 for 3 days at universal for 2 people during peak with their fast pass (whatever it’s called lol). If you like these kinds of things it’s what you budget for just how it is and how it’s going. I’ll still go to both for now. 🙂

  • I really find Genie+ efficient as far as being able to get on a number of popular rides … BUT it feels like it takes quite a bit of day-of work to maximize it. I felt that when you talked about fiddle-faddling between the stretching room and getting on a Doom Buggy – I know this is an exaggerated / experiment scenario but still, you shouldn’t feel the need to do anything like that while on vacation. It just makes it really hard to have those “vacation within a vacation” moments

  • Thanks for helping my family with Genie ➕️! I love your article’s! ❤Things have definitely changed since the last time me and my mom and my 3 year old daughter went she is 10 now and I now have a 3 year old and 6 month old can’t wait to take my girls in August 2024! I’m hoping we can plan our day and try not to use lightning lanes as much I’m trying to save as much money as I can so my girls can have a good vacation with many magical memories! Hope Disney still has that old magic I remember!! ❤

  • I would love to see a characters article-some examples on how to interact and engage with them (and with kids – my kids are so enamored, they may not say much – one of my kids does an amazing job non-verbally interacting with them – Ie blowing kisses to Minnie 😂). Would love to see different character meals or other cool dining experiences with kids 😀 Characters are fun, but we didn’t do a ton in the parks last time. I would love to see where they are, especially in MK, EPCOT, and HWS!! (I was really focused on the attractions and ADRs last time 😊).

  • Hi molly love the vlogs can you do a article on Genie plus explain it in 10 minutes it confuses and stressful I’m coming over from the uk September 4th and I don’t want to stress about using Genie, plus I want to use it I’ve watched so many articles on it and the YouTubers make it more complicated I’m asking can you explain it in a simple way if this make sense ❤

  • Wow…. Honestly I can’t believe I’m saying this but…. A Disney world vacation doesn’t seem worth the pain in the ass it is to make it work. Reading through the comments on other articles…. I think made the decision to not take my family this year to Disney. They’ve been wanting to go but I may suggest universal instead. This doesn’t sound fun at all.

  • I really don’t underdtand people asking Molly for suggestions no what to talk to the characters. Meeting them is the best part of my trips ( when the performer is actually good), and I find 100% of Molly’s interactions so uninspiring and boring that if I dint know how fun I think is to meet them, I’d never want to do it. There is SOOO much more tot talk about then the exact same that everyone does. Their people, they’ll talk about anything, just as the chacracter would. And I can assure you the actor playing the character will be delighted if you use some more creativity than just saying “you look so cute/dapper today” or “where is the (indert character)?”

  • I need to go to Japan (Disney but also Japan generally – if I make the trip I am going to see all the things. I am obsessed with Tokyo Disney Sea, it looks so amazing. I am fine flying 9 hours to Europe, not a thing, but flying to Japan is way more intimidating than flying from the Mid-Atlantic to Germany. I should ask myself what would Tom do? Get over my fears and start planning my trip, obviously.

  • I would love to see a article that’s essentially the opposite of this. Planning a regular day without Genie+ and then using the price of a park ticket that day to figure out how much you basically PAY to stand in lines. I know Genie+ is expensive and people have strong opinions about the price, but spending over half your park day in lines seems like much more of a waste of money to me!

  • This whole Genie thing is ridiculous instead of enjoying the park your constantly on your phone trying to get on rides quicker they should have left as it was pre-Covid or do it like Universal you pay one price for express pass you can ride every and no phone use unless you get a call..I’ve been to Disney over 50 times..I truly miss Disney but because of this and some other decisions Disney has made I haven’t been back and unfortunately probably never will but because I loved Disney so much I love perusal your articles

  • It says a lot that in your shots of people at the park, very few are leisurely enjoying their day… Most look like they’re hurrying somewhere. Disney is no longer a calm, relaxing vacation destination… It’s becoming overly complicated, overly regimented… the opposite of what most people think of when they think of vacationing.

  • Sigh…I am really losing interest in these Genie+ articles. As someone who downright refuses to use it because I believe it shouldn’t exist (Walt wanted free admission to all rides once you paid for the initial park ticket) I’m somewhat disappointed. I really liked Mammoth Club’s history articles – specifically when Molly talked about imagineers and the original intent/design for the parks. That’s what made me passionate about Disney Parks anyways… Sorry, I just can’t stand the fact that the Genie+ system isn’t even easy or convenient to use AND you pay extra for it. Molly makes articles that are over an hour long just explaining how to use it?? Yeah, no thanks. No thanks to Genie+ and no thanks to this content.
