Is tarot card reading true?
Early French occultists claimed that tarot cards had esoteric links to ancient Egypt, the Kabbalah, Indic Tantra, or the I Ching. However, scholarly research reveals that tarot cards were invented in Italy in the early 15th century for playing games, and there is no evidence of significant use of them for divination until the late 18th century. The belief in the divinatory meaning of the cards is closely associated with a belief in their occult properties, which was propagated by prominent Protestant Christian clerics and Freemasons.
From its uptake as an instrument of divination in 18th-century France, the tarot went on to be used in hermeneutic, magical, mystical, semiotic, and psychological practices. It was used by Romani people when telling fortunes and as a Jungian psychological apparatus for tapping into “absolute knowledge in the unconscious”, a tool for archetypal analysis, and even a tool for facilitating the Jungian process of individuation.
Is it OK to do tarot everyday?
Tarot cards can be used as a daily guide for meditation, self-improvement, and growth. To build a routine, read one card a day for 5-10 minutes each evening, depending on your mood. You can choose from the Major Cards or use all 78 cards depending on your topic. For specific topics, use one court, such as Coins/Pentacles for money, Wands for work or social life, Cups for love, and Swords for decisions and philosophical questionings.
Follow your intuition and connect with your deck better. 2 Cards readings are ideal for answering simple questions, such as whether to continue putting effort into a relationship or if there will be positive outcomes.
How do you examine your dreams?
To analyze dreams, recall them daily, especially when they’re fresh, keep a dream diary, share them with someone, and identify symbols and associations. Dream interpretation can provide new insights into your mind, but it’s not backed by research and may require the help of a psychotherapist. Dreams can reveal information about your emotions and thoughts, but they’re open to interpretation. To begin dream analysis, identify common symbols and understand their meaning for you.
Does Tarot increase intuition?
The practice of journaling and tarot reading on a weekly basis can facilitate the development of trust in one’s intuition and the ability to access one’s inner knowledge and gifts. The practice of tarot can facilitate the creation of space for spiritual growth, thereby fostering a deeper connection to one’s higher self, which is often perceived as a source of unconditional love. Is it OK to read Tarot to yourself?
Making predictions for yourself in Tarot reading is not always the best approach, as it can be challenging due to the fluctuating details and timing of the cards. Being too involved and having expectations can negatively impact the results. The energy of the reader is crucial, and it influences the cards drawn. The best results are achieved when asking short-term questions, such as the same day or week, or long-term questions, which can be difficult to predict due to the fluctuating nature of the details and timing. Therefore, it is recommended to consult a professional for accurate predictions.
How can I identify my dream?
To achieve happiness, it is crucial to identify your dream job and passion. This involves a clear understanding of your current situation, surroundings, team members, and the benefits to yourself and others. The happiest and most successful people are all doing what they love, creating something they believe in, and living a life of purpose and passion. However, many people struggle to find their passion and end up with unfulfilled jobs. To help you discover your dream and start living it, consider the following suggestions:
- Write down your dream and make it as clear as possible.
- Focus on your passion and create something that you believe in.
- Surround yourself with supportive people and use the right tools.
- Focus on the benefits to yourself and others.
- Remember that success doesn’t always come from money. Instead, focus on living a life of purpose and passion, regardless of your financial status.
What not to do when reading tarot?
Reading Tarot cards can be a powerful tool for self-discovery, but it’s important to avoid making mistakes. Some common mistakes include pulling out the deck immediately after a challenging encounter, choosing the wrong spread, adding too many clarifiers, looking up too many card meanings, and reading about others’ feelings or motives. Additionally, doing multiple readings on a topic in one sitting can lead to frustration and confusion.
Tarot cards and other divination techniques won’t work if you aren’t in a clear state of mind. While it’s possible to read for yourself if you have a preferred outcome, it’s crucial to be in a neutral, calm space to accurately read for yourself. The worst time to do a Tarot reading is when you most want the answer, as this can lead to a more confusing and frustrating experience. Therefore, it’s essential to be in a neutral, calm space when reading for oneself.
How can I find out what my dream means?
Dreams play a crucial role in allowing us to access thoughts and feelings we may not be aware of. Mark Smaller, PhD, president of the American Psychoanalytic Association, explains the dream-deciphering process. To figure out what your dreams really mean, start by recording everything you can recall about your dream, including objects, people, and locations. Each detail carries a unique association for you, and you should also record the emotions the dream sparked.
Smaller suggests that small elements of your dreams can point to big issues, as a lot of information gets condensed into a small detail. For example, if your dream took place in your childhood home, consider what’s significant about that place and how it might relate to the larger premise of the dream.
Can you read the future with tarot?
Tarot can help make big decisions, but it cannot predict the future. Michelle Tea suggests beginners start with a three-card reading from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck. Growing up, her family often relied on tarot for tough decisions, such as discussing a brother’s breakup or deciding whether to drop out of school. The deck’s iconic Rider-Waite-Smith cards can provide valuable insights into the future.
How do you use your intuition with tarot?
Tarot reading can be an intuitive and beneficial tool for those who struggle with memorizing the meanings of the cards. To begin, it is essential to clear your space and energy before beginning a reading. Relaxing your energy through breathing exercises, meditation, or sound therapy can help you better understand the messages in the cards. It is also important not to read tarot under the influence of mind-altering substances, as they can lose protection of your energy and messages during the reading.
To start, use a simple 3 card spread, which represents the past, present, and future. Expand your practice by finding another spread or two that you would like to integrate into your practice. The more you practice, the more intuitive it feels.
Use the faces on the cards to tell the story, as learned from listening to The Biddy Tarot podcast. Look at the cards like they are on a timeline from left to right, depending on what you chose the cards to represent in the reading. If there are faces in the spread, use the direction they are looking to guide how you see the energy flowing from the card. For example, if the magician’s face is looking to the left, you see the card representing the immediate past, not having a long history. If the face is looking to the right, you feel that some of the magician’s energy from the past is being carried into the present.
Numerology is a useful tool in tarot, and not all readers use the numbers in their readings. A simple Google search can provide a basic rundown of the numbers 0-10 and the energies they represent. For example, the number 9 often symbolizes endings. Taking the whole tarot spread into consideration and the question asked can help you understand where the ending fits into the reading.
Lastly, use the colors of the cards to look at them individually and as a story. Dark to light colors may indicate a weight has been lifted over time or an understanding was reached where confusion was before. If the cards are all the same color or tone, you can understand what basic colors represent. For example, red often means passion or anger, so if the spread was mostly red, this could be the underlying energy of the topic or question being asked. By practicing these tips, you can become more comfortable with tarot readings and develop a deeper understanding of the meanings behind the cards.
Should I sleep with my tarot cards?
Tarot cards can be a helpful tool for interpreting your emotions and thoughts. If you pull a card with positive connotations or intentions that you want to dream about, sleeping with it can be beneficial. However, some people may find the energy distracting for sleep. If you feel pulled to sleep with a card, go for it. If you are constantly stirring, remove it and try to fall asleep again. Daily tarot readings provide a moment for self-reflection and calmness, making them a quick and effective mental check-in. Getting into the habit of pulling tarot cards can help you improve your sleep and overall well-being.

Earlier this year, after 18 years of reading tarot without reversals and never feeling the need to use them, I suddenly felt drawn to read with reversals and soon after came across this deck. I really love it. It’s gorgeous, very well produced and is has some diversity in the images. The key words are great for beginners or those who may like to have some additional prompts. I like how the keywords don’t detract from the art or the aesthetic of the deck. The improvements from the first edition were very well done. I really highly recommend it. It’s a great reader too.
This deck is sooo beautiful! I just watched this article for the second time. I went through your tarot with training wheels a few weeks ago. I learned so much!!! So thank you for that! 🙏🏼 I pre-ordered this deck yesterday, they will start ship in early March, so at the end of the month maybe.. So excited!!! 😍 👏🏻 👏🏻
Lisssssaaaaaaa please I’ve had this deck in my wishlist for months now and this is just making me want it EVEN MORE 😅😭😭😭 My goodness, this deck is absolutely worth every penny!!!! I was already so blown away when I first came across this deck and now I’m even more head over heels for it and I never gravitate towards decks that feature real people!!!
I do like the concept of this deck, it’s linen finish, with matte gilding. Looks very well produced, buuuuut the colour palette is a bit too gentle for me to be able to work with it. I appreciate the idea behind this execution, and the deck looks really pretty, but I’m in a phase of my life where I need more colour. Loved the article, Lisa 🙂
I ordered this deck and it’s coming in the mail tomorrow. I am so excited! ❤️ I’ve been studying tarot for a year and I do readings, but I have mental health disorders and memory issues, So I’ve been on the lookout for a good deck that has keywords to jar my memory. I swear, I can know a card inside out and still have moments where I’ll blank out and struggle for words. These types of decks help me a lot. I loved your review! ❤️
This one is definitely on my wish list. However, I did notice that some of the astrological correspondences for the decans in the minor arcana ( I cant remember which cards exactly) switch suddenly from using the Chaldean system(which is what the tarot generally uses) to the triplicity system(which is what astrologers use). Definitely don’t think it was intentional, my guess is that the creator simply Googled the correspondences because Google Answers does give the “wrong” answer for the same cards. So if you are wanting to use this deck to learn tarot astrology, that’s something to be aware of.
A very thoughtfully put together deck! Love the gold foiling and the images are beautiful. I also like that the keywords don’t stand out and are subtle. Keywords that are too glaring put me off because I don’t always agree with said keywords, so they’re harder to ignore. Linen is my favorite cardstock for tarot… I wish all my decks were linen lol. The only thing I don’t really care for (personally) is the tannish colour of the backs/borders/box. I’m just not a fan of that particular colour. In my head, I feel like a dark teal colour would be a better option. But that’s just personal aesthetics. Oh, I also agree about the box opening. I wish it laid down all the way instead of being glued on the side. Nice deck!
Just ordered it❤️ Don’t remember getting so excited over a tarot review in a long time, but this deck looks sublime! Love the neoclassical art style and the emphasis on the feminine. The card stock quality looks exquisite as well (gold + linen finish = 🤤). Thanks for your detailed walkthrough and for introducing me to this deck 🙂
What a gorgeous deck .. I am so happy for you because you were torn wanting this deck! However, it’s not for me. I don’t read reversals and I am not drawn to .. I also don’t feel drawn to this deck. It’s not my style .. and it torture me because I felt the same about the star and moon child tarot or Osho-zen .. some decks just don’t speak to me .. I hope you have lots of fun playing with these cards.
I just realized one of my favorite oracles, Child of the Universe (Gold Edition) is by StSoilel, so I can vouche for the production quality. Makes me want to buy this deck even though I don’t normally like keywords on tarot decks, just because I love their oracle deck so much 😆 Edit (I wrote my comment early on in the article lol): I think the name of the art style you were looking for is “baroque”.
I’m a beginner. I just started about six months ago. I love how deep this is. It’s interesting enough that it catches my attention and also allows for my own voice. I love that it has more then just the tarot typically and adds numerology and planets because that’s also something I’m in to. Definitely picking this up. While I don’t have these I’d love to see a comparison between this is and the stardust tarot by TerraSoleilCo.
I was so enchanted when I saw it last year. I have it and I feel the same way about it as you do. I think it is just lovely and well done. It is totally not my aesthetic at all and the “beginners” thing was a caution for me, but I am super glad I picked it up. I personally think it would be a great deck for a beginner. I’m just so impressed with how well this is done. I make no bones about not being a strict RWS fan, but I really like this deck.
This is the moonchild but amazing for beginners. I have their Child of the Universe oracle deck and I love it so much i wpuld say that if i could only have one deck, i would choose this one. OK, edit after seeing the Page of Swords which is actually an image of Goddess Diana as the Huntress. I’m sold on this one. 😍
It’s so funny! I received this deck in the mail yesterday! 😀 my deck did not come in its own pouch though…. I too was really happy about the production quality and the keywords. And the artwork is very pretty, but I do feel that I would have wanted to see at least a couple of older women with varying body sizes included in the deck. There are several older men in the deck but no older women and that bugs me.
Darn, that deck looks like it has things to teach me. I am blown away by the guidebook here. I’m not a beginner, but still, there’s so much in there! I initially wasn’t drawn to the artwork, but it grew on me over the course of the article. I can see myself not just buying myself a copy, but keeping one in reserve for impromptu gift-giving. Um, until I saw the price on it, anyway.
