Are Kundalini Energy And Chakras Feminine Energies?

Kundalini, derived from the Sanskrit word “kundal”, means “coiled energy” and is often symbolized by a serpent or Kundalini Shakti, meaning Serpent Power. The chakra system, which includes the Ida and Pingala channels, is a fundamental aspect of Kundalini energy flow. Kundalini is often referred to as the “divine feminine” or “yogic serpentine energy” that lies dormant at the base of our spine. When awakened, this dormant energy flows upward through the seven chakras to the crown of the head, balancing the energetic.

Kundalini is traditionally thought to be feminine (sometimes called Kundalini Shakti) and can only flow freely when one’s chakras are completely clear and open. All spiritual practices aim to facilitate this rising energy. Kundalini involves both male and female energies, not just the feminine. Chakras can be restricted, but blocked energy flow never happens in Kundalini.

In Hinduism, kundalini is a form of divine feminine energy (or Shakti) believed to be located at the base of the spine, in the muladhara. Chakras relate to our Kundalini, which is an exemplification of the immense latent potentials within us. Yoga is a practice that can help balance the whole chakra system and promote positive qualities associated with them.

During Kundalini, both feminine (Shakti) and masculine (Shiva) energies unite, not only within the chakras but also from both sides of the body. Kundalini-Shakti, the Divine Feminine energy, is the quintessential shape-shifter and spans the whole spectrum of existence.

  • To achieve sahasrara chakra, he mean to say accept death without fear. Yes, you need a expert Guru with you to open it. Caution: some got paralysis and went into coma without proper guidance. So, rest 6 chakra are basically clean your mind(from ego) and heart (from hate), then the 7th chakra will be opened easily. Sometimes the Guru has to enter into your body, to clean it to realize you where you are doing it wrong. 🙏

  • I wasn’t looking for kundalini had never heard of this practice until I started to practice daily meditation. I was listening to a chakra meditation and I had an out of body experience. I had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks because I was in different dimensions. If it hadn’t been for my own training as a mental health professional, I don’t know if I would have returned from the void or be of sound mind. Today I am blessed because I do remember my journey of many deaths and my rebirth into this current timeline. Yes, everything about me changed and I know that I am here to be of service to and for humanity. Please take what is being said to heart. While I am grateful today, I wouldn’t wish that for anyone.

  • I do not understand this about the Kundalini Yoga, I love it. To me it is breathwork and clearing emotions. I have never had a bad experience, in fact when I sing the Kriyas it feeling good and lifts my energy. I also speak a light language at times when practicing all yoga. I love all yoga and practice it all, I want my own studio!

  • In 2019 I had the Kundalini experience. It lasted a couple of weeks. Let me say this was the scariest thing ever happened to me and at the same time the greatest thing. I ended up in a mental hospital for a day and a halve. Learned so much from it. It changed my life in such away. Although I am still an ignorant as a person it took me to a place where I was super conscious. I was perfect. Later on I discovered that I was not meant to be perfect here on earth I am always going to be imperfect and ignorant as a person because that is what gives me meaning and purpose in my life. To not know everything. But to be ok with not knowing, And that the best version that I could be was when I was present in the moment relaxed and withought overthinking. What triggered it was, that I was overestimating my own consciousness and wanted to seek enlightment and perfection.

  • I recently started kundalini and it’s been such an emotional and spiritual awakening, as an African it’s really been an interesting bridging between myself and my ancestors. I’ve been working towards this sense of wholeness and closeness to myself for so so long. Grateful and blessed to have found this practice

  • Swami Vivekanandas book has great caution about awakening kundalini without proper preparation of body and mind so in todays world we are fortunate to have easy access to Sadguru’s teachings which include so much about the prior preparation. I am hopeful of becomin a Isha instructor ( hopefully completing prior trgs on the way)

  • Did a kundalini awakening method around high school, then my life spun out of control over and over and just now at 32 am I finally overcoming the madness and chaos it brought into my life. article almost brought me to tears, even through years of continuing chakra work daily as my world fell apart, just kept trusting and auming, and ended up in isolation as he said, in the mountains. Through that pain I found a love for nature and plants and strive for unconditional love every day and gratitude. There is no greater love than spiritual growth. Blessings 🙏💜🕉

  • I’m going through a major kundalini awakening now and thought that I was losing my mind, severe vibrations, uncontrollable from spine up in a waving motion in my back during meditation, severe heat coming to the body, change in vision seeing colors vibrantly . Seeing time in a slower way/ noticing bees and their wings flying. It’s insane!

  • His insights are so deep…One word from inner engineering: Responsibility. This changed the course of my life… Taking charge of my body and mind gave me the power to direct my life the way i want.. Thank you Sadhguru for these wonderful insights. These ideas helped me to see things the way it is and improving my perception. That’s why I made this website…. Seeker’s Perspective. Namaskaram 🙏

  • one time i practiced a lot of meditation and i am certainly sure that i had some kind of kundalini syndrome, it changed my life completely, and i can tell it is true that you open other dimensions, i had paranormal things happen often, things falling down in my apartment, teleporting uncontrolled myself while traveling from A to B; one time i did an exercise some voice told me to do, that it will make go away of the inner stressful tension i once had, i did it and in an instant it was at 0, like taking heavy drugs that whole thing scared the shit out of me. some contents in movies and online articles, were strangely close connected to my current mind and past events; loosing keys to my apartment led me to break myself in … . loosing and giving and throwing away all the stuff i had, panic attack, mental breakdown … apart of that i had healthy diet and exercised a lot, lost 40KG, was at my optimal weight, also for the first time in my adulthood quit nicotine addiction

  • Namaha Sadhguru- I do Kundalini Yoga, but for a bit less than a year, so I am still a beginner. To my basic understanding so far, I am doing the gradual method, nothing extreme. It’s mostly just some breathing, mudras and a mantra for each of the 6 chakras, going from bottom to top. Plus a light warm-up before I sit. But there is an advanced course, I haven’t taken it yet. For getting to Sahasrara, I am relying now on grace- all the practice now is just in chakras 1-6, any meditation on 7 is very light, just the mantra only. I’m hoping that some energy will “come down”, not so much with me pushing upwards. As an aside, your Karma book was great and extremely helpful…hopefully I am not too much like Shankaran Pillai. All cultures seem to have one of these guys. In Sweden and the Nordic countries, he is Oleg, in the Russian he is Boris. I fear in the U.S. we have more than one Shankaran Pillai.

  • Sadhguru, I have had a kundalini awakening with energy traveling up my spine. It was after I was assaulted by my ex husband. I’m Native American Lakota Sioux. I never practiced kundalini yoga . I do meditate and started meditating in June 2015. I had my spiritual awakening in May 2018 and had kundalini awakening in Sept 2018. My life fell apart. I knew that I had to walk away from my marriage and my life. I became homeless. I moved into my sons house with his family. I did 6 months of inner healing. I was sick physically from depression. I overcame fear, healed my inner child and forgave people and myself. If I never practiced anything and only meditated how did the third eye open and how did the kundalini awaken and rise? It changed my life. I divorced my husband and moved back to my Native American people. I am reunited with my ex husband from 25?years ago. We remarried. Can you please give me some insight on how I made this happen? Thank you, namaste!

  • I had a kundalini awakening, started in 2012, through galactic intervention, i wasn’t spiritual concious, my entire physical endocrine system shut down, from pituitary gland down to thyroid adrenal glands and ovaries b12 deficiency and my gallbladder and uteris removed, katalyst was going into shock during a emergency secearian section, medics call it a very rare illness Sheehan syndrome, now 9 years later and after years of a physical, mental and emotional very eradicating and inward process, and my 2017 flash of remembering, a euphoric flash where past present future fell together like a perfect puzzle, im still on my way searching answers in This living maze of conciousness that keeps schifting 💖🌠🙏🏼

  • I love this. People aren’t clear about what they want, think they want something they can’t handle. I’ve made conscious choices that dismantled my life before. Now that I’m a mother with responsibilities, I know how much I’m willing to let be dismantled. Someday, when my child is on her own, I’ll be able to devote myself to spirituality more completely. Spiritual practices are different as a mother, no less, different. Life has seasons. It’s good to know where you are.

  • Kundalini awakening happened to me, no practicing. Luckily I’ve always had an ‘open’ mind. I disagree that you can’t incorporate it into your ‘normal’ life. It’s a wonderful thing… what you do with it is up to you. Life has no real physical teachers. We are all students. Until we take our last breath.

  • I am kind of at a loss for words. I have been on this journey walking with source for as long as I can remember. Source is who I trust deeply. I have been diving into darkness knowing Source was waiting and cheering me on from the other side. As well as ancestors. It’s only been recently that I’ve asked to really hear and see. Then I come across this article. Because I’ve been doing this alone with source, do I practice alone as well?

  • I’m from the West and the only way I can explain awakening is its like realising you can break the 4th wall in your own mind and reality… My brain hurts.. But my understanding is stableizing.. And the headaches are going.. I am becoming one with myself so that I can be a better form of life for myself and those who are around me.. The journey doesn’t end there’s allways further you can look, but take a moment to adjust to everything you know now and the path forward will become more clear.. Let’s spread this positivity we are all learning to control.. Only true love within yourself can heal the things that are around you.. I hope everyone who reads this has a good day, and if your looking for true love look inside yourself not outside at the world you see.. Much love much peace, ❤️✌️🌍

  • My experience is that I had no knowledge about kundalini however after meditation practice I did to try to open my anja Chackra 3rd eye I heard a voice that told me to open my mouth and a indigo colored dragon 🐉 came From within me and left my body I was amazed of what was going on but very confused about the experience as to how I did it … my question is what that how it was supposed to be and why was it so easy for me to do something i had no knowledge about

  • I recently started practicing kundalini, Mantras and yoga. I have been practicing other types of yoga and i notice kundalini is the more powerful, its amazing. Im in love with it and trying to not get crazy about practicing too much. I really feel the love in me, lighter, the energy cleaning, peaceful, while practicing it.

  • Ancient Tantra content / Adiyogi source ofyoga Adiyogi shiva said ” As human intellect evolves to a higher degree of technology, when a time comes whr there is no work on man’s hands time when almost everything could be handled by machines.. At that time 112methods become neccessary because human mind takes every possible form (distorted )..it means he was talking abt our generation 15thousand years ago – sg

  • I completely get it when he says it’s dangerous. My friends, it causes lots of psychological issues and it won’t get diagnosed easily by psychiatrists. Moreover you will see everything clearly, like the flow of energy and if we aren’t prepared for it, hallucinations may start. Also life won’t be same as before as we will get to much self centred because of the natural curiosity to know the truth what’s happening within. 🙏

  • I took a tab of lsd once and my goal for the trip was to reset my mindset for a better life. it was about 2am when I found “Kundalini Awakening: Guided Meditation” by Lights of Venus and it was beyond blissful. As each chakra unlocked, I felt the energy rise until she got to the crown and described it opening as a lotus bud and then the energy kept flowing up and down my spine for what felt like 5 minutes. All of a sudden I see a ball of light outside the window which then morphed itself into the panel and then was hovering just under thr ceiling towards my feet. I tried to sit up but my mind was like “what if it’s ‘The Light'” so I laid back down because I wasn’t really prepared for death. Then the white orb started telepathically communicating with me about how it’s here to better me spiritually within. The orb got closer and then my mouth opened and it hit the back of my throat. Then it when down to my root chakra which then exploded and that energy shot up to my crown chakra which felt like how a ‘mushroom cloud’ looks, BUT with that energetic(physical) feeling, my emotional feelings were immense love, pure peace, and beautiful bliss.

  • I fear that my journey began before I knew exactly what was starting, and feel now as though I am struggling to maintain and survive while I experience the unexpected changes. The information you share has been helping me learn just enough to keep that nuclear reactor from going bad while I strengthen my physical body and mind enough to handle the extra energy. I can’t express how much I appreciate the timing of your instruction, even if it is in front of a camera while you’re offering it.

  • Well that jump was into madness for me, had a random kundalini awakening and it showed me the highest of highs, i had infinite energy, clarity, creativity etc, but flew too high for about a week and ended up experiencing a breakdown into the abyss of madness lol. As disturbing as it was it still changed my life for the best. The kundalini is dormant again now but I’ve had a sneak peak of this energy and I can’t stop thinking about it

  • The energy in the body is enormous, spontaneous awakening is a real phenomena. It is both awesome and terrifying. Training can awaken and cultivate this dormant energy but be careful that you train the foundation, as Sahdguru says, it is a great transformative energy if you are prepared to receive it. I was in the “Kundalini rises quickly” category and it was very dangerous and disruptive to my life, but totally spontaneous and out of my control. I have learned many lessons since then about the inner alchemy, but I am still a neophyte and I believe I am unready to intentionally raise Kundalini a second time, without risk of doing harm, so I study and practice the 8 limbs of yoga when I can to prepare for the possibility of another spontaneous awakening.

  • I am a muslim and it started on its own after few months of meditation around 6 years ago…i didn’t had any idea what’s going on with me…i started having emotional breakdowns..uncontrollable laughter…too much talking and then silent all of a sudden.. i didn’t knew anything about kundlini but youtube articles started appearing and fb posts of what’s kundlini awakening and i was like, wait a minute, thats what i have been going through…after so many years it seems to be balancing without any external help because honestly I dont know where to get a genuine help.. I hope i complete my journey soon…

  • When I was about 16, after the loss of a loved one, I had a kundalini awakening unintentionally, I felt a rushing heat start at the base of my spine and shoot up into my head. My sense of self dissipated. I became a completely different person for a couple of weeks before but my ego slowly regenerated as I went about in the world. It’s not easy to practice the teachings of the experience in daily life. especially in high school.

  • When I was young (18 or so) I had a series of very powerful experience I can never fully describe. I was just beginning to get heavy into meditative practices and focused on opening my chakras. This led me to feeling a strong spiraling vortex of energy from deep within myself all the while my light body felt as though it was growing and expanding and shooting up into space until I felt like I was about to leave my body. My fear held me back and pulled me from the experience, but since then I’ve had very powerful experiences which have been hard to interpret. Now I feel as though I cannot live a normal life working day in and day out. I feel a calling to talk with and connect to others. To help others through difficult circumstances. To continue to learn and unlock the knowledge of our ancestors. I feel very drawn to get into energy healing… Can anyone help me to understand what this experience was and what my next steps are moving forward? Was it Kundalini awakening? I feel very stuck living in western society and unsure where to go for help as capitalism makes me very weary of the teachers here. I have many questions and concerns and feel daily suffering as a result of my awakening(s). Any and all guidance would be amazing. – Thank you

  • It’s like turning on a train. If you start it tends to gain momentum and can cause disaster when your focus changes. Must be true to your goal. I need more focus. More discipline not to hurt myself. The worst enemy I have is myself. I open my chakras then I shut them up and crash because lack of courage. How do I stay perfect? It’s hard to keep it all open forever.

  • Namaskaram Sadhguru. I wanted to ask you about the rising of the Kundalini up the spine last year at Inner Engineering but I didnt get the chance to. So happy to see this title! My Kundalini has slowly gone from the base of my spine and is now in the middle of my back when doing Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya. 😊 The next title I would like to see you talk about is an out of body experience which I have had once. Please share. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

  • Yes, I had a kundalini awakening in 2017 my shakti energy was awakened during my morning meditation after a couple of weeks i ended up in another country and in a mental ward🤣 being around the social construct was actually quite dangerous especially if you aren’t prepared, dont have the support or your support network have no idea themselves about it or what to do.

  • Thank you Sadhguru for my life! Since I have been doing Isha Yoga for about 3 years now, I have become complete alive and joyful all the time regardless of what is happening out there… this doesn’t mean that I am not touch by what is going on but I am no longer stuck on it. I just do whatever I can to help whatever the situation is and move on…. EG from LA😀

  • I started this practice in 2015 then stopped because I felt like I was cheating on my relationship with Christianity/GOD. I also had the understanding that all light is light and light is for the good of all. The most terrifying part is when he said you must be ready for the practice. I guess preparing one’s self lin lifestyle, body, mind, spirit, self-forgiveness, is the best you can do if you don’t have a teacher guiding you. I have prior experience with Kundalini so renewing my practice can’t hurt the process right?

  • My awakening was very gentle, I did it myself without knowing what kundalini was. I felt it and felt like I could see it and guided it along it’s path. I felt a vibrant vibrating noise reverberating through my body from a metallic orb. I did become an obsessed seeker after this but in the end my life has been successful.

  • Deep in the heart of America working at a tattoo studio being a nhillistic atheist looking for answers looking for truths for the self I found Sadghuru awhile back and started this journey…I’m thankful I’m happy I’m changed deeply and I finally understand this nonndual reality we share. This “I am” the void to the beautiful play of life 🧬. It’s true when your ready the master appears even if it’s inside all along and the outside person is how it and who it shows up as. He touches people all over the world 🌎 in every nook and crack of it. ❤️ To respect in another is the highest form of self respect.

  • My experience when my kundilini rose was like a fuzzy golden light running up and down my spine., stopping and tingling in certain vertebrae these moving up. My neck and head would adjust into alignment by some force. I had a huge aura and people could see it and commented whatever I went. This beautiful light surrounded me for 3 weeks.. after that an automobile ran into my vehicle totaling it off. I wasn’t injured other than whiplash but have had burning tingling neuropathy ever since. That was 8 years ago. Any advice?

  • Awesome teaching, Sadghuru!! Beside what you have mentioned, trust, devotion or madness, there is also another state one can reach after the journey through the abyss, the ultimate state: AGAPE LOVE. Throughout the journey into the bottomless pit you have numerous occasions to know the Creator in completely different ways, only accessible if you are in that place, in the abyss. You would just understand WHO HE IS. And this could make one fall madly in love with Him, the Creator, and his creation.

  • Why would anyone want to jump into a bottomless and pit and be mad or crazy? When kundalini awoke and rose in me after 53 days of Shambhavi Mahamudrah practice, I lost everything nearly. My wife left me for another, my physical health became unrecognizable as did my mental ability but I did have some hidden gifts there but I was definitely not ready. I could barely handle my own thoughts, much less the thoughts and strong emotions of others. Be careful with This and I’d listen to Sadhguru if I were you. Especially if you call yourself or think you a western yoga teacher. I’ve met so many who think they have some understanding but they haven’t a clue.dangerous things can happen as a result.

  • Moksa, for the most part, has been the sacred behind Indian spirituality. The calling pursuit of Kundalini is a Soul initiative and not a ‘one size fits all’ statistical chart fad to follow– led by ego attainment. The respect and worship behind the pursuit is well known to Indians, who have for centuries, backed and celebrated the love and ‘freedom’ necessary for ‘any’ as unusual as they might become, to attend to their spiritual calling. Thank You India!

  • Thankyou. Life teases and instructs. Many years ago, l enrolled in a Hatha yoga 8 two hourly course, over 8 weeks. After that l enjoyed doing the daily yoga postures, at home. Often doing it at 6am before my daily chores and in the evening at 8pm, to unwind. After a short time, l experienced all kinds of unusual experiences. I bought books and realised that my 8week yoga teacher, hadn’t explained the various energies, related to the 7 chakras. ( There teaching basically was akin to a gentle bending, keep fit theme ) . I attended many day yoga seminars, with visiting spiritual teachers. Indian Swami explains Krishna, Patanjali teachers, from India. Jewish Rabi and lovely Bhuddist monks. So true, that one has to be skilful in dealing with family friends and in career. It’s been a interesting journey, being blessed to sit at the feet of many leading spiritual teachers. It’s been challenging as a parent, raising two children, in the western world. Focus and dedication, has placed this being, to be ideally situated, to help others, whenever life unfolds, their genuine need of support. Life also instructs, it’s often best to remain silent, trusting that everything is unfolding, the way that’s most suited, for different people. Much love to you and all your viewers. Aumay shanti Aum.

  • I have been meditating for about a year. The last two times I started rolling my head in circles. After this I started swaying and moving my body in snake like movements, it felt so powerful and comforting. I decided to research this and I came across Kundalini. I have never heard of this. I don’t know what to do. Does anyone have guidance/explanation please?

  • I have no fear Sadhguru. I love everything I see and I want to see more. I have see a ghost, an angel, and many UFOs. and I can’t wait to see more:)! I loved all of my LSD hallucinations when I was a teenager and am brave. Now I am 48 years old. I am ready to see anything my spirit guides believe I am ready too see. I have complete faith and trust. I love this life:)! And I love you and your work:)! Thank you for being here and sharing with us:)!

  • I had an kundalini awaking, got filled with love and this being inside me.. female, she told me this : you’re not suppose to be here.. (with love, fear and a longing sensation) after that the sensation left trough what seemed to be a tube put in my left but cheak, I was again left with myself and this feeling of being on the wrong place, cause I’m not me when I’m here, I’m just this person.. what does this mean and where should I go ?

  • I was very curious about kunadalini and chakras so i started to exercise so to get my physique healthy ( i thought it would be essential ) Then i used to hear kunadalini sounds that were on the internet not on daily basis but whenever i got silence . As they say feel the energy going upwards i used to always do that i found myself to be more energetic, active . I sometimes get kinda mad i don’t know why just over energetic . That gives me an experience of why am i not getting exhausted and am i so …. I can’t explain but i carried out to recall my chakras are balancing energy is going upwards just at a corner if my mind when i am not doing anything much ( i am 16 i do have childish thoughts ) Is that something related to this or something else …… I need an answer if one can

  • I woke mine up on psychedelic trip and it was rough but I will say that my life is changing better it’s like enlightened feeling idk I just feel really good about everything and n life and feel on my way I’ve struggled my whole life trying to find truth and purpose which led me there but I’ve left them alone now knowing that it’s inside of me

  • Namaste 🙏, My name is Murali from Hyderabad. This year on Shivaratri night I sat in meditation first time. I experienced cosmic energy is entering into my body through my center of the head (Brahma randra). My head was spinning in a circular motion. My upper body was moving front and back spontaneously (getting spanda kriyas – involuntary kundalini movements). My body suddenly gets intense cold and changes into heat within fraction of seconds. My soul is dancing inside and had a clear vision. I sensed cosmic energy passing through nadis. Had a blissful experience. Some people telling those are kundalini awakening symptoms and doing this without guru leads to madness and danger to our body. So I stopped doing this. Recently iam getting awakening daily at 3.30 am Brahma muhurtham. So again I started doing meditation. Iam experiencing vibration at Ajna chakra. Is it third eye opening? I stopped doing meditation now due to fear. Iam getting health issues now. Mild pain, pulsation and tingling at Ajna chakra. Numbness in head, legs and hands. Sometimes very high pressure in head. I don’t know is it spiritual symptoms or medical issues. Please guide me. Thanks 🙏

  • Thanks a lot for the explanation! I’m studying and learning about Kundalini and it’s made a big difference in my mood just in 3 days!! Some things literally fallen apart and now I know it was for good. Yoga changed my way to see the world… the pandemic is the worst and the best thing that happened to me.

  • I had a kundalini experience that I was not ready for. It wasn’t something that I was trying to do at all. I had no frame work or vocabulary for what was happening to me. I didn’t even know what kundalini was. at certain points it was pure bliss and ecstatic amazement. I was experiencing something beyond what I have in my vocabulary to describe. then things got dark. Fear started to set in and I lost my mind for a time. I recovered after a few months but only by the skin of my teeth. It has been about a year since then and I have been slowly building a framework of what actually happened to me. I had heard a guy talk about his experience on DMT and I thought to my self that it sounded kind of similar to what I had gone through, except I had not taken any drugs and my experience was MONTHS instead of minutes. Then I started hearing stories of kundalini and in particular kundalini gone wrong and finally made the connection. I really want to talk with someone knowledgeable on this. I want to learn all I can

  • I had a premature and accidental Kundalini awakening in a Vipasssana retreat. It seems to have “cooled down,” but it is definitely still lurking and I definitely don’t feel ready for it. Is there any way to reverse the process? It makes it hard to do any deep practice because deep practice seems to raise it further. Thanks much, Noble

  • I don’t know much about kundalini yoga, I don’t do yoga at all, as for kundalini awakening, I know it all bc I got the awakening and with the awakening there’s a full package of information and guidance from my masters. It’s the most beautiful and complete gift of my existence. I was ready for it bc I was prepared to receive it by deities, by bigger forces for a long time. I honestly don’t believe that kundalini is dangerous bc nobody gets it unless he/she’s ready to receive it, my humble opinion based on my experience. “When the student is ready the teacher appears” 💫

  • Ok so I’ve never done any kind of yoga and mines just awakened out of nowhere a few years back and everyone thought I was crazy because I wasn’t speaking clear but I was like in hyper drive and seeing hearing and dealing with drama and past trauma and I did my best to keep focused but I felt like I was having disassociation. And I kept Makings sounds and noises I never did.

  • I had a kundalini awakening out of nowhere about one year ago. Very much changed for me just in a blink of an eye. Have not experienced any negative effects really. But I have felt confusion on what to do to go further. It was an intense period of a couple of weeks after it awakened where I felt high on life. I still feel there are energies inside of me that are like buzzing around. But everything feels more balanced now, and I dont think about it so much anymore. Any thought how to go further are appreciated ❤️

  • This man is truly miraculous.. He answers all questions with no definitive or specific answer ever.. Every answer is about “a certain dimension” for must you “should be in a certain state of mind”, and that mostly is “because one doesn’t have that level of understanding”..which usually ends with an abstract confirmation of “isn’t it “… You take any questions given to him, like be about time, inner consciousness, death, levitation, space, meditation, etc.. Try it..as for me it’s.. Once bitten, twice shy!

  • When people say that it’s dangerous to “force” a kundalini awakening, they’re assuming she can be awoken against her will. And to be honest, that sounds a tad arrogant to me. If everything really is divinely ordered, if the universe really is perfect, if the web of life is wise and complex beyond our imaginations, can we really say we can “force” the central creating energy (kundalini) of it all to wake up? To me, the answer to this question was easy and led quickly to another conclusion: There’s no such thing as spontaneous or forced kundalini awakenings. Kundalini awoke in me at exactly the perfect time, in the perfect manner. And I feel that’s always the case. Kundalini rises in us when our souls are ready and if we have a “soul contract” with her (ie, she’s helping us fulfill our life mission). I call this the Soul-Kundalini Partnership.

  • Thank you. I have awoken it and have no idea what it was or how to handle and direct it. but the fact that I found this is telling. My body vibrates, i have lucid dreams. I can do psychic readings. I can feel the energy from people. I can know things. It is not easy, this man is a genius he said everything

  • Every time I listen about Kundalini: 1. I get to listen the same set of subjective words like energy, trust, good, bad, dangerous, destructive, potent, etc. 2. The moral of the story remains the same. And that is: you should not try this. 3. Tone of the lecture happens to be either to confuse or to intimidate. 4. “Several ways are there to achieve.” This is also common. Here, first time I listened about exact number- 112. 5. No real example of a man raised Kundalini is given, neither the process is explained. I don’t know if someone has actually achieved this, or is just a matter of tradition that someone will ask about Kundalini and some other person will deliver the same lecture being passed through generations.

  • Dear Sadhguru, thank you so much for this explaination. I think I did experience Kundalini after a 3 day awakening force with 7 charkas opening. I didn’t expect it and I wasn’t ready. I was overwhelming. I saw things different. I looked at a cooked pice of radish on the plate, i see its whole life routine. I felt oneness with everything i see. I felt a chicken’s heartbeat even… it lasted 3 days. i was scared. Thank you for your article. I will learn how to handle it.

  • About ten years ago I had a distinct, spontaneous kundalini experience. I was going down on a girl and I kept repeating the word “Goddess” in my mind over and over because I wanted to make her feel good. Suddenly my spine uncontrollably stiffened, my head locked and I felt a massive energy blast from my perineum, up my spine, out the top of my head. I could not move, I had no control. It lasted about 5-10 seconds then faded. She had no idea anything even happened and I can remember thinking “Nothing else matters but what I just experienced”. I wasn’t trying to make it happen, but it sure did! Nor have I tried since!

  • This is a click bait article title. It doesn’t explain a single thing about awakening Kundalini. Just more vague philosophy with generalisations unsupported by personal experience or even stories of others. If it’s so dangerous why not give some examples of people for whom it was dangerous and why? Otherwise it just sounds like something memorized out of a book.

  • Always awesome articles from you Sadhguru ! Myself I not believe that awakening the Kundalini is dangerous, why so many people telling us this ? Should only be a small fraction of “elite”, “gurus” have the right to awake the Kundelini ? No it’s everyone humans right to have the Kundalini awakened. May the grand master Shiva was an alien who lived on planet earth thousand years ago? Maybe…the point is, that there is only a very rare number of people on this planet who have awakened such a great inner self power like Buddha, Shiva, Krishna….why not every human? Who hides these ancient Yoga facts? Everyone is born with these powerful spiritual gifts, so why they should be dangerous for us?

  • How do you know if your ready? I’m ready to evolve with everybody else that is. I am having a hard time, since this evolved from trauma, on top of trauma. On top of addiction, and Extreme Fear of death,( per trauma. ) I need someone to reach out to me, before my fear of death, is not that far out. I will do whatever I am suggested to save my life. 🙏❤🧘‍♀️🎵🦋 please someone. Things are feeling or truly are, falling apart and my body can’t take much more.

  • i need help i started to do meditations long time ago and i started to have interest energy flow that is uncomfortable and uncontrollable i started yo freak out and it made me afraid to go to sleep coz every time i close my eyes the energy starts to go everywhere and eaves of heat and cold rushes up my back how can i calm it down or stop it it’s really affecting my life in negative way

  • Idk Sadhguru dangerous times, precarious at best ….. I’m going straight to z ….I walk the beach most everyday. I work my body muscles and I meditate . In winter in summer I’m fine down there perusal the seagulls glide and play in wind. They also face east snd do yoga lol ( they all stop at same time and face east . I watch them glide in face east in stay like that with me for an hour or so . I love life I’m learning life . Love and light

  • Okay, so here is my observation with this article of sadhguru and his articles in general. I watched a article on the same topic, kundalini awakening, by dr naresh. Dr naresh explained it very clearly and if you know nothing about these things then you will also be able to understand what he is saying. On the other hand, sadhguru explained the topic but in a subtle way. He also said the same things, just in an indirect way and to be able to completely understand what he is saying, you need to have some context of the topic already. I think because of less time he is not able to explain clearly all the things or maybe he just explain those things clearly which he thinks are useful for us fundamentally.

  • It’s like an andenalin burst…. Mine cane back by accident thru a rush up the spine to all my chakras and then through my brain and a surge up into space lighting up my whole body like a pinball machine one time only……… Kinda like astral travel which is dangerous especially in the lower astral plane where all the terrors and grotesque demons await….

  • I awakened my kundalini and it has been so intense and crazy. I knew not much about it at all and just went from feeling when trying to awaken it. I didn’t follow any guides, I have no teacher, I had no idea what I was doing or what I was in for when it finally did awaken. It has been BRUTAL. I’m not even kidding. It’s been so intense and I completely understand now why people say to be very careful and prepared with lots of expert training. This is NOT for the faint hearted. You will be pushed to the limits of what you can handle in order to grow, and there will be serious growing pains. Trust me on that. Words can barely begin to describe what this has been like. I’m constantly lost for words. How do you describe that which is so far removed from this plane. I know nothing anymore. Nothing.

  • I have a serious question, why is it that that tingling feeling in the back of my skull, can become so sensitive, that it can be almost unbearable pleasure and jolts of electricity fly through my body, as if I’m being poked at while dead Ivan touch that area and I’ll just feel so so warm and all my muscles relaxed, I mean mostp all of them from head to toe

  • “You didn’t read the manual.” Wait, there’s a manual?! Where’d you find a manual? i’d have been happy with a simple ‘user’s guide’, just one chapter – ‘Getting Started’. In order to help reduce anxiety, “Spend 10 minutes considering something that matters to you”. It may seem strange, but i’m having a difficult time finding anything that really ‘matters’. There’s a bunch of stuff i think of as ‘important’, but does any of it matter? Not really. Trying to fulfill your instructions, Sadhguru, is generating a bit of anxiety for me, and finding i’m having a hard time with this, seem to have discovered another shortcoming i didn’t know i had, you’d seem to suggest that anybody could do this. Getting depressed. 😕

  • Thank you Guru for your kind & careful advice for those people simply want to practise Kundalini Yoga which they are ignorance about the risk they have to face if thing go wrong as you used very good example of Nuclear reaction producing vast & clean energy. If nuclear reactor go wrong, it was devastating to life. Thanks Guru.

  • We are one conciousness but we are also an inviduals, someone will feel bliss after kundalini and someone will feel the opposite i think its up to everyone to try and to experiment is it good or bad for them or in better words not good or bad but can you handle the energy or not… i admire sadghuru and have big respect for him but from my personal experience kundalini has changed my life (quitted playing article games 24/7 a day, quitted marihuana, ciggaretes, alcohol) i became a different person i became fullfilled with joy, stopped doing the kundalini a week or two ago and my life has become utterly empty within, started to focus on food and lust most of the time and even today i lighted a ciggarette… the point is take the advice but you wont know if you are ready for something bigger if you dont try and experiment with things. namaste 💕🙏

  • What happens if I did not even know that I had a kundalini awakening without even know what I was doing my hands just raised up from meditating and my hands were so powerful I was telepathically saying I was sorry to whoever I was saying this too my hands were just shaking uncontrollably and all In say is my hands were speaking and asking for forgiveness from someone. Someone told me that this was a Kundalini awakening how can I know what it was

  • I am still at the way for the vast knowledge but as I know and experience kundalini can be awakened two ways…. one way is real quick awakening and the other way is raising the kundalini with time…it can be awakened really quick but it hampers your environment and conditions a lot… its for sadhus and santas but social people get a lot of problems without an alert full mind…. as sadhguru says its most efficient way to raise energy but what’s too much effective is also too dangerous

  • From years I’ve this wish to know about something like this, i do meditation through controlling breath & exercises because that’s the way I knew to stay full. I had other little knowledge as well, but after knowing this, I am sure I need to stay out of it, because I’ve finally started to know my well and as good as it sounds, I’ll try to stay away from it.

  • I would have appreciated talking with Sadhuguru when out of the blue and with no preparations, not even knowledge of kundalini, I had an explosive kundalini awakening in 2001! I am American born in the south what is considered to be the “Bible belt” Christians who do not believe in what they consider new age stuff! I can personally attest to what happens without preparation and how dangerous it is! The power that is unleashed within is overwhelming and indeed, my mind could not bundle it! Emotionally intense to cause both mental and emotional breakdown! Fortunately for me,there was an Intelligence that ended up guiding me and kept me from harm as I went through this profound experience. Led to books by this Intelligence as well as correct food and vitamins I began an awesome journey into the unknown. Very slowly I began to recover but would not wish this anyone who is unprepared…..namaste!

  • The greatest teacher is within you. Surrender is the only requirement. But it sounds much easier than it actually is. Initially, my kundalini awakening was very chaotic, but after a couple of weeks I learned to develop a daily practice of surrender. 1 to 1.5 hours of meditation daily. Kriyas move my body as needed and layers of past trauma and ways of knowing myself slowly get peeled away. Two years and still peeling. All about trust and surrender. Sometimes difficult. Always beneficial, for myself and others.

  • Yes, I was in a state of Kundalini when my ex wife was cheating on me. I felt this extreme!! happiness, and non sufferring. ( more like a intuition of her cheating, and the truth of that made me feel uplifting as if I found out the key of truth ) And I honestly just didnt care. It was already a known feeling in me that YES SHE IS CHEATING. And for like 6 months, I was fully in a state of what I felt was bliss. It was like something in me knew it was going to be the worse time of my life, but I honestly did not suffer at ALL during that moment. lol now I have PTSD, because I look back and wish I smacked her in the head by feeling ANGRY vs NOT GIVING A CRAP and getting a divorce with a smile.
