📹 LG Magic Remote and Virgin V6 Cable TV
In this video we’ll take a look at how the LG Magic Remote and Virgin V6 Cable TV work together. We’ll also see what to do if the …
For those that are trying to set up the LG TV manually and it not working as it’s not giving the test page and going straight onto the completed page. This was happening to me a lot. Don’t select the Virgin region it gives you but go to the option where you type in ‘Virgin’ manually. You can then select the region it gives you afterwards and then the test should appear. This worked with my V6 box, not the updated 360 box.
The set up instructions are quite confusing but this article certainly helped. I was confused at the stage when it asked me to press the PR button. I simply clicked that button with my TV remote and then said Yes on the next screen to confirm I could see the menu that has come up on the right. It was just not clear that I needed to use the LG remote to press/click the PR button on the screen.
Just bought the 50″ LG tv. The magic remote and menus are completely different to this demo.. having great difficulty setting as a universal remote.. follow onscreen instructions it says, selects device no problem but no way to test, only option is exit. Frustrating. No reply from LG.. if you could give any advice that would be great. Thanks. (Should’ve said, trying to control my Virgin V6 box)
This didn’t work as described for me, I had to do an extra step. I had to update the model number. After selecting your service, press the “search model name” button (in the manage setting section), and the update your model number. This is written on the bottom of the box. I only had to type the first 3 letters to search and find the model (mine started with DCX). Hope this helps.
Just had a new LG TV delivered and the LG Magic Remote is now different to the one you have reviewed so well. If you do a review on the new Magic Remote I would like to see it please. Also, have you tried to pair the VM remote to the LG TV and if so how is that, is it better than using the LG Magic Remote?
This whole process is just weird. I had my magic remote paired with my V6 box for over a year. During that time, the back button on the remote triggered the back button functionality of the Virgin remote. (Unlike the behaviour exhibited in this tutorial.) After a brief but painful experience with BT, I came back to Virgin and re-paired the exact same magic remote to the exact same V6 box, and for some reason the back button now behaves as in this article, so it skips back a few seconds of live tv. Really useful – not! Also, I don’t get the “exit” action when I press the ellipsis button on the LG remote. So I have no way to back out of the Virgin menu completely with the magic remote. First world problems and all that, but it’s annoying as I was able to do it when I had them paired before.
