Hello y’all its been a while since I updated y’all on the progress of Magic Shaving Powder, a few months after this article I switched to the cream( extra strength) version which does not smell and works the same if you hate the smell. I still use it to this day on my legs and armpits but not on my privates because I do waxing now. Hopefully this helped
WARNING! I’ve used this product for a little over 23yrs. I am an African American male (I use this product for hair removal in all areas) Nice article but here are some tips for best results and things you should know: 1. The cream/ paste version sucks 2. DO NOT heavily itch and or scratch the intended area of use on body before or after. 3. DO NOT use a razor or anything sharper than a butter knife for removal. 4. DO NOT use Any alcohol on the area after use 5. Do NOT reapply product to the same area of use within less than 24hrs. 6. Consistency of application should approximate peanut butter over desired area. 7. After initial removal, shower (hot water) and rinse thoroughly. Gently pat dry and wait a few hours before applying any creams/ lotions to newly shaved area. 8. Due to the nature of certain chemical compounds in this product’s composition; you may not want to use this all the time/ every week 9. THE SMELL! For goodness sake- please use in a ventilated room. 10. IF you have sensitive skin or you are using it in a … sensitive area, use the Sensitive Skin version. Mix for 2-3 min until it turns to paste. Okay I came upon this and had to say something… I have used this product for the past 15 years ever since I could shave my dad introduced me to it. This is recommended for very coarse hair and only small areas. I am African American male and use this on my head and face. Please please please start off with a small area first and test because this stuff will BURN YOU if left on to long or sensitive skin be careful. Mix it in a cup again mix it in a CUP… You have to find the time best for you I leave it on for 10 minutes at most and the best result is to take this off in the shower ( a lot of water and high pressured). Do not do not put anything with alcohol on the area right after or it will burn like FIRE. It is a great product because it breaks the hair off at the skin with no razor like bumps but be careful. It is an alternative to using a razor and having hairs curl back into your skin… Be careful please.. Gold or silver can do not smell as bad but will need to leave on longer.. Great article!!
Been using it for 20-something years. If your solution is super runny, you may want to thicken it slightly with a little more powder. The fragrant version really benefits from being thicker, and it will then remove hair at the same rate that the other versions do. Also, don’t let it dry out — keep a little spritzer bottle of water on hand to moisten anything that starts to dry out before you’re ready to remove. Just one spritz of water will do. That keeps it active.
My dad used to use this when he was in the air force. It’s great for black men because they are more prone to hair bumps because of curly hair. & Yes ..we always knew when he used it cause it stank!! But it works. He always used a plastic knife to remove it. I wonder if a essential oil can be used to help with the scent?
I forgot to mention that I have been using this product since about 1990. I learned that the cream was available and have been using the Majic shave cream for at least the last twenty years. I give this product 5 stars. When removing the cream application from my face I typically use a dull fishing fillet knife simply because it gives me a very very smooth clean shave with little to no irritation even considering that I have sensitive skin. After washing my face I’ll apply an anti-bacterial microbial cleanser and then apply alcohol or witch hazel and complete the process with aftershave lotion.

Its the ingredient BARIUM SULFIDE; which is in the Sulphur family; Sulphur powder is used in many products including soap, makeup, bath salts, even black powder in fireworks 🎆…that’s the smell after everything goes 💥 boom. I used it today(the red extra strength powder) it worked great on my face….I left it on a little over 10 minutes, with a little redness & irritation after, but I put some non-fragrent lotion on & it was 🙂 fine. I’ve been using for almost 25 years on my 😻 area. I use the green magic with aloe vera. I don’t use water I use rose water. However in order for it to be more effective let the mixture be creamy slightly ficker not watery. Apply everywhere except the middle only on the hairy area. Keep legs open standing position whilst allowing it to dry. Use a fisher net spong or hand gloves to rince it off. Use look warm water slightly cold to prevent burning. Apply same way on other area like legs arms….
Hello i just wanted to say that i used it on the kitty and i didn’t even have it for 3 minutes when it started to burn i quickly started to remove it and alll the hair came of at once just a tip for the kitty only apply on the top and sides but NOT in the inside of your labia it burns bad but i apply vaseline and the pain went away after 1 hour
There are four types of powder actually, one for sensitive skin that has vitamin E in a silver labeled tin, and there is a magic cream shave in a tube, that I have heard smells like toothpaste and that you may have to use two applications (wait 24 hrs) to get all of the hair gone depending on how much you have in the first place. It was demonstrated on Rayona and Robemar website. I don’t think he got the cream on the left underarm down thtough the bush of 4 months’ growth all the way down to the skin tough. I don’t think Mexican boy new that if you rub nappy hair in a circle it just makes a bigger knot, and I just don’t think he got the cream all the way down to the skin… but I might be wrong.
So I have thick curly hair and used this for the first time yesterday I wasn’t sure if it would work bc nair doesn’t do jack for me. But for less than two dollars I was willing to try it when I saw it at Walmart. I got the fragrance one and followed the instructions left it on for seven minutes and it took all of it off! I’m assuming the coarser your hair is the longer you leave it on but I was so impressed I don’t think I can ever go back to shaving!
I have now been using the black and gold can of Magic Shave for several months. I have not used the white and red or white and blue tube/can she is using. I use it EVERYWHERE (legs, arms, underarms, chest, nutz) on my body except for my face because I have a beard but. I do use it on my neck without any problems but my razor works better on my neck. But for the rest of my body this is the way to go! I use it on my “boys” without any issues whatsoever. The only place that I experienced irritation is the area around the taint and the fold where my legs meet my butt. I leave it on for 7 minutes. Most people think it’s only for black guys but I’m white so go for it. I love it.
