Can Warlocks Change The Spells They’Ve Learned?

Warlocks can change their spells only when they reach a new level, according to the Warlock chart on p.106 of the Player Handbook. They gain spells according to the Warlock chart and can change one from their known spells to another from the Warlock. WoTC has made it clear that they don’t consider it that much of an issue if known casters can swap out more than one spell between levels.

When a Warlock gains 5th level, they gain a new 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level spell and can swap out a spell they already know for a different one. However, they cannot cast the spells except as rituals, unless they have learned them by some other means. You can also cast a warlock spell you know as a ritual if it has the ritual tag.

Warlocks get a new feature called Mystic Arcanum, which is learned spells with single cast per long rest. When you reach 6th level, for example, you learn a new warlock spell, which can be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level. Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the warlock spells you know and replace it with another spell from the warlock spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Instead of using higher level spell slots that full caster characters get, Warlocks get a new feature called Mystic Arcanum. These are learned spells with single cast per long rest. Warlocks can only switch a spell to learn another at each level gain, but they can only do so one spell at a time.

Warlocks don’t learn spells from spellbooks, but they learn them by leveling and are granted by your patron. They can multiclass into Wizard for the ability to learn scrolls, but they can only learn them up to the Wizard spell level you’ve reached. Every time bards, sorcerers, and warlocks gain a level, they can replace one spell they know with another from their spell list.
