Chakras, the energy centers in your body, can become blocked or unbalanced over time due to stress, negative emotions, and other factors. Blocked or imbalanced chakras can manifest in physical, emotional, and mental symptoms. Recognizing these signs can help identify potential issues with your chakras and take appropriate action.
When closed, you may hold onto grudges and grief, keep your emotions bottled up, feel shy, jealous, or have difficulty trusting others. Stress, adverse experiences, negative thoughts and emotions, grief, and other significant changes can deplete chakra energy. According to Eastern traditions and biofield therapies, when our chakras are not aligned, we may experience a range of symptoms that can manifest as physical pain or emotional distress.
Chakras are not literal things in your body but rather a way to explain physiological processes. Thorough research is necessary before working with them and the importance of working from the bottom up is emphasized. Chakra clearing can be overwhelming for those who haven’t experienced one before. If you have aches, stiffness, or reoccurring emotions and fears, you may find out which chakra is affected or blocked.
The real opening of the chakras requires the adept practice of yoga, which may take years or lifetimes to accomplish and stems from deeper yogic practices. If one of your chakras is out of alignment, it can either be overactive and flowing too freely or underactive, with blocked or impeded energy. Different musical instruments are connected to the 7 chakras and therefore have a specific connection to them.

What does a blocked chakra feel like?
In an ideal world, all chakras are balanced, but in the fast-paced world, imbalances can lead to feelings of unsafeness, unsupport, disconnectedness, loneliness, and low self-esteem. Symptoms of blocked energy in each chakra include the Muladhara chakra, the root chakra, which represents security, trust, and self-care. Physical symptoms of root chakra imbalances can be found in the legs, feet, rectum, tailbone, and immune system, while emotional imbalances affect basic survival needs like money, shelter, and food. Physical symptoms can include degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation.
What are the symptoms of a misaligned chakra?
A lack of equilibrium within the root chakra can result in a range of health concerns, including degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation. Emotional imbalances can impact an individual’s ability to meet basic survival needs, such as securing financial resources, obtaining shelter, and accessing food. Balancing this chakra provides the individual with support, connection, safety, and groundedness, thereby ensuring a sense of safety and connection to the physical world.
Can your chakras be damaged?
Chakras are vital for optimal functioning; however, they can become imbalanced or obstructed, resulting in physical or emotional manifestations. The majority of experts concentrate on the seven principal types, which encompass the ten most prevalent and seven Sanskrit designations. The manifestation of these chakras may present with a range of physical and emotional symptoms, contingent upon the underlying cause.
Which chakra is blocked by trauma?
The Sacral Chakra, linked to creativity and emotions, can be blocked by trauma, causing emotional numbness. Engaging in art, dance, or self-expression can rekindle this chakra’s fire. The Solar Plexus Chakra, our confidence realm, can be diminished by deep wounds and pain points caused by trauma. Practices of self-love, setting healthy boundaries, and empowering activities can reignite this chakra’s inner spark.
The Heart Chakra, governing love and compassion, can be reformed by engaging in connection with others, finding the value of interdependence, practicing gentleness, and engaging in heart-opening practices. These practices can lead to significant relational improvements and healing from trauma.
Can you run out of chakra?
Chakra, a form of life energy, has been widely spread by Hagoromo, the Sage of Six Paths. It is produced within and manipulated by organs like the heart, and circulates throughout the body in a network called the Chakra Pathway System. Groups like shinobi have learned to generate more chakra and release it outside their bodies through pressure points called tenketsu for jutsu. Chakra is created when two primal energies, known as “stamina”, are combined.
Physical energy is collected from each body cell and can be increased through training, stimulants, and exercise, while spiritual energy is derived from the mind’s consciousness and can be increased through studying, meditation, and experience. As these energies become more powerful, the created chakra becomes more powerful. Repeated practice builds up experience, increasing spiritual energy, and allowing more chakra to be created. Some individuals have substantial potential that allows them to exponentially increase their chakra reserves in a relatively short amount of time.
Can you reset your chakras?
The seven major chakras, which extend from the spine to the head, can be adversely affected by toxic environments and stress, resulting in physical or emotional symptoms. The yogic tradition posits that meditation, breathing exercises, and specific yoga poses can facilitate the restoration of chakra balance.
Which chakra holds trauma?
The root chakra is a fundamental energy center that is shaped by various events, including financial traumas, loss of home or land, and relocations. These traumas can lead to the belief that the world is dangerous and that we are victims of it. This can result in feelings of anxiety, a desire for a predictable life, and a lack of acceptance of life’s experiences.
However, all traumas are a root chakra phenomenon, and the unbalanced root chakra often harbors unrealistic hope that it will never undergo sudden and unpredictable changes. This accumulation of traumatic incidents can lead to a “no” to life, preventing us from fully embracing life’s experiences. This can sometimes lead to escapism and fantasy.
A significant portion of our mental turbulence is the result of untreated traumas stored in the root chakra. Unresolved memories can also transform into physical pains that spread throughout areas governed by the root chakra, such as legs, feet, and the muscular and skeletal systems. By addressing these root chakra traumas, we can better navigate life and navigate the challenges that come our way.
Can you realign your own chakras?
Chakras are vital for maintaining balance in the body and mind. To achieve this, one can engage in breathing exercises, relaxation meditation, yoga poses, guided meditations, and regular activities. These practices can help maintain a balance in the body and mind, promoting overall harmony. Regular activities can help address blocked or overactive chakras, while time spent in nature can provide relaxation and invigoration.
However, it is important to maintain a connection with nature, as being disconnected can trigger a blockage in the root chakra, which is the base of the being. By incorporating these practices, individuals can improve overall balance in their chakras and maintain a healthy balance in their life.
How do you know if your chakras are off?
An imbalance in the root chakra can result in a range of symptoms, including anxiety, fear, nightmares, eating disorders, and physical issues. Nutrition can be utilized as a means of establishing a sense of grounding, whereas a deficiency in nourishment can facilitate the attainment of control. To reestablish connection with the root chakra, one may engage in activities that facilitate grounding, such as walking barefoot on sand, grass, or dirt. Furthermore, yoga poses have been demonstrated to facilitate the activation and balance of the root chakra.
Which chakra should I unblock first?
The root chakra, a wheel-like energy center in the human body, is regarded as the fundamental component of the entire chakra system. Some energy healers posit that to achieve equilibrium among the chakras, it is first necessary to restore the root chakra. The chakras are a part of a complex spiritual and religious tradition that originated in India. This tradition includes the chakras as a minor component of the body’s energy system.
Which chakra should be unblocked first?
The root chakra is considered the grounding foundation of the chakra system, and imbalances in this chakra can affect other body chakras. Chakra work can help individuals feel safe, secure, and grounded in their body and the world. Although there is no scientific evidence supporting the existence of the root chakra, it can be beneficial for those new to chakra work. Victoria Stokes, a writer from the UK, shares her experiences with the root chakra and her favorite things, including coffee, cocktails, and the color pink.

You have been such a big part of my ‘awakening’, you’ve really been a rock & mentor & inspiration & comfort through it all. Your demeanor, your insights & your personal stories are all what has kept me perusal YOUR articles through the years while I feel I’ve ‘outgrown’ many other mentors. Thank you for sharing & putting yourself out there. Thank you for talking to us as your equals. Thank you for your consistency. Thank you for showing your emotions & allowing us to be a part of your life! It really means SO much. 💗✌️
Completely relate with this, brother 🔥 When it comes to the spiritual energy/kundalini, it knows what it’s doing. It’s been unbearable at times but we get through it. Sometimes it’s hard to establish which is which. Fixing vs allowing vs helping the process. Yet also fully embody it with the divine masculine which isn’t talked about much.
Glad to know, earlier in the year I thought I was having a heart attack but turned out it was a heart Chakra, it was almost like a near death experience where it made me a better person and treat others better…after researching I found it out on my own and the whole 7 chakra’s which made me show love to everyone…it felt like I had a heavy heart for a few days but I was not sad and that pain was unbelievable and I never want to experience it again.
I have been writing something for a while on how to release unprocessed emotions/trapped energy from the body, and how you can identify the trapped energy in your energy system and the physical symptoms associated. You can see them manifest in your teeth! Not everyone knows this and I am so excited to share. For example: Fear can be stored in the kidney and can manifest as anxiety, low back pain, digestive issues, hair loss, dry mouth, and ringing in the ears… to name a few. -Manifest Enlightenment
Thank you, Victor! Winter & Spring 2022 were the worst ever. I felt like I lived in a fog of unintelligence I knew wasn’t “me”. My memory was gone too. I just knew I was going to expose myself & lose my job. Thanks for giving this syndrome a name. I’m much better now, but it’s still here. Thanks for confirming that my deciding not to worry about/take steps to try to clear it was the best thing to do.
during my Kundalini awakening I had chronic headaches for months then I went to see a reiki healer and she said all my chakras we’re closed accept for my crown, she opened them all up and I haven’t had headaches since and my chakras haven’t closed either and I’m also much more sensitive to blocks and flows of energy throughout my system in general.
Experiencing extreme anxiety continuously, this morning my eyes were glitching for the first time too… Tingles in my foot and hands and feeling the hot waves like the energy waves passing through the body… Feeling like I am going to die. All my life I have been very brave and now I get scared even about the small things, many times irrational. Seeing numbers 11:11 almost every day. Hoping the Event is coming soon, it is becoming so hard to handle…
Thank you Victor for this helpful message! I’ve noticed a pattern for almost two decades, that whenever I felt an INTENSE energy within my heart and then throat chakras, Spirit within (Higher Self) was communicating to me to have the courage to SPEAK UP, and to share highly beneficial information. However COMMA they often seemed to be the most inconvenient times! Lol Example: At a huge meeting of very intimidating, military and civilian interrogator instructors, or at other large gatherings where my mind was initially like, “I don’t think that’s a good idea right now.” But I’ve learned to gradually and fully trust these states, and just allow whatever needs to be shared to simply open my mouth and let the words flow out of my mouth. I didn’t know what websiteing was back then, but I believe that I was websiteing my Higher self during those extremely challenging times. And what’s amazing about these experiences, was that they always worked out so beautifully, because they were definitely soul-igniting, deeply heartfelt, and highly beneficial for self/others. And I (and even others) would often be surprised or shocked by whatever was expressed. Anyhoo, I also INTENSELY FEEL pressure on my 3rd EYE chakra area when I’m about to meditate at a deep level, to include intending to astral travel with eyes closed and while lying in bed (usual method, but not always). This past Thursday night, while performing open-mic comedy at Oak Creek Brewery in Sedona—since they had their newly created, 2nd open mic exclusively for comedy—I had several brain farts (the most I’ve had since sporadically doing this hobby)!
@VictorOddo: The title of your article really got me excited. For 3 years I’ve had chronic sinusitis and increasing difficulty swallowing. Doctors are useless. I’m just a guinea pig for every test imaginable. I am currently begging for a G-tube (surgery) because I’m literally starving to death. I’m skin and bones; too weak to do anything. I have asked and prayed for healing to every deity, angel and celestial being in this vast universe, but nothing; silence. I know my issue is due at least in part to chakra blockages. Your article broke my heart. While it’s all well and good for most people, I don’t have time to wait. I’m dying, Victor. I’m dying and nobody on Earth or the Heavens seems capable or willing actually help me. What am I supposed to do?
Thank you for this! It makes sense to accept the symptoms and ease into the innate wisdom of the body. I’ve found myself in a bit of a health crisis this year, which definitely has been an awakening. A call for some changes. And it all hangs together. I usually found myself getting sick when I didn’t feel fully expressed. I have had challenges with my throat throughout my life. As a little girl, I got sick a lot. I got clogged up in my nose, ears and throat very often (which I’ve come to realize has something to do with the lymphatic system, in my case). I got my tonsils removed. But then I got a tumor on the outside of my throat/thyroid. Which i had surgically removed. This summer has been my deepest initiation yet, a real dark night of the soul, as I got mononucleosis. Still recovering. I know why I got sick. Some events in my life where people got close, triggered some deep stuff with regards to feeling blocked in my self expression and a lot of guilt and shame and fear came up. It all makes sense. And I’m grateful for all my illness now. I have learned a lot, about taking care of my self, allowing connection and feel stronger and more myself than ever. Through my challenges, I’ve come to know that my reason for being here is to use my voice and self express as much as possible. And that’s beautiful. I had a realization that, while I have shadow needs of control and a false sense of security, I find that the ultimate security is found in me being myself and expressing myself.
Whoa this was mind blowing. Years ago I had the worst sinus infection that turned into vertigo. During this time I was unhappy and really stressed. It makes sense now how my chakra was blocked and my body was trying to warn me. And lately I’ve been getting headaches and I’ve been feeling a positive shift.
Thank you for your articles Victor they have helped me a lot through my awakening and healing journey, I have the same sinus problem, just the feeling of a brick sitting in my head, feels so heavy I have experienced a lot of black outs, mental fogginess, sinus infections etc and it is becoming less and less but I have to say I’m using Jin Shin Yjutsu to unblock or balance the energies and that really helps a lot, you can feel it shifting right away but the more you experienced certain emotions or mood swings the more attention it needs.., through accepting it you are just giving up the resistance making the healing work much easier, just wanted to say that reiki and these energy or balancing work really does work, it’s mostly the expecations of it.. some pains, emotions need more healing and attention then others.. 🙏💚
I liked that you used the analogy of the 240V going into a 120V outlet cause I literally tried to plug a fan into this power bank thing I have for using electricity without electricity like for camping or whatever and the thing could power it but barely. Like the fan blades were spinning but it seemed like it was on a lower setting than the low setting and was making a weird humming noise. And that happened to be today that I did that so this feels very fitting. Don’t know what the voltage of the fan needed but it definitely needed more juice.
Hey Victor! I had a question for you! I’m dealing with a lot of anxiety in my gut. I’m currently going through a TF separation now I know I can feel his anxiety too energetically etc. But I’ve tried meditating with my chakras etc. I journal, in therapy etc but it won’t go away. What would be your advice on this one? 🙂
