Does A Misaligned Chakra Throw Off The Menstrual Cycle?

The menstrual cycle and chakra activation across the four seasons provide insight into our bodies’ innate wisdom and can help cultivate greater harmony and balance. The root chakra (Muladhara) is responsible for releasing impurities and accumulated emotions, while the adrenal glands are responsible for regulating blood flow. Kundalini activation can also impact the menstrual cycle, working closely with the sacral chakra to ensure energy flow freely.

The menstrual cycle has four unique phases, each bringing about different physical and emotional strengths. Spiritual changes can cause physiological changes, such as skin problems or severe headaches. If you experience aches, stiffness, or recurring emotions and fears, it’s important to identify which chakra is affected or blocked.

Sacral chakra imbalances can lead to issues with intimacy, emotional instability, lack of emotion, stifled creativity, addictions, and emotional instability. If one chakra is out of alignment, it can be overactive or underactive, with blocked or impeded energy. When the Sacral Chakra is blocked or imbalanced, it can make you feel emotionally unstable, too sensitive, or too sensitive.

Identifying physical, mental, and spiritual ailments can help you understand the state of your seven chakras. For example, if the solar plexus chakra is out of alignment, digestive issues can arise. Closed or unbalanced chakras caused by painful experiences can lead to self-sabotaging, self-sabotage, and difficulty remembering things. By understanding the interplay between the menstrual cycle and chakra activation, we can better understand our bodies’ innate wisdom and cultivate greater harmony and balance.

What causes lack of menstrual cycle?

Secondary amenorrhea is a condition caused by natural body changes, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and menopause. Women who take birth control pills or hormone shots may not experience monthly bleeding, and their periods may not return for over six months after stopping. Other causes include obesity, excessive exercise, low body fat, severe anxiety, sudden weight loss, drugs for cancer treatment, schizophrenia or psychosis, overactive thyroid gland, pituitary tumors, polycystic ovarian syndrome, reduced ovaries function, and premature ovarian failure.

How long does it take to unblock chakras?

Unblocking chakras requires patience, dedication, and a deep understanding of our energy system. The process can take weeks to months, depending on factors like the individual’s role and purpose. The key is to identify and address specific blockages within each chakra, which may require different amounts of time and attention. The severity of the blockage and the individual’s willingness to engage in self-reflection and healing practices also play a role.

Performing is an art that requires trusting instincts and intuition, but lack of confidence and nervousness can hinder performance, often triggered by past judgments, negative feedback, or criticisms. Childhood experiences also play a significant role in shaping self-worth.

What does a blocked chakra feel like?

In an ideal world, all chakras are balanced, but in the fast-paced world, imbalances can lead to feelings of unsafeness, unsupport, disconnectedness, loneliness, and low self-esteem. Symptoms of blocked energy in each chakra include the Muladhara chakra, the root chakra, which represents security, trust, and self-care. Physical symptoms of root chakra imbalances can be found in the legs, feet, rectum, tailbone, and immune system, while emotional imbalances affect basic survival needs like money, shelter, and food. Physical symptoms can include degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation.

What chakra causes hormonal imbalance?

The sixth chakra, or third eye, is of great importance for maintaining hormonal equilibrium. It is connected to the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, growth hormones, and metabolism, and plays a crucial role in hormone secretion.

Which chakra is responsible for irregular periods?

Which chakra is responsible for irregular periods?

The sacral chakra, located in the lower abdomen, is associated with creativity and connection to others. An imbalance can lead to emotional instability, low self-esteem, and dependency on others. Physical manifestations include urinary infections, lower back pain, and irregular menstrual cycles. A balanced sacral chakra is represented by orange and promotes energy, confidence, and inspiration. The solar plexus chakra, located near the diaphragm, is associated with personal power and inner strength.

An imbalance can result in psychological symptoms like stress, insomnia, low self-esteem, fear, poor concentration, and physical issues like digestive issues, allergies, and stress-related skin conditions.

What are the symptoms of a misaligned chakra?

A lack of equilibrium within the root chakra can result in a range of health concerns, including degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation. Emotional imbalances can impact an individual’s ability to meet basic survival needs, such as securing financial resources, obtaining shelter, and accessing food. Balancing this chakra provides the individual with support, connection, safety, and groundedness, thereby ensuring a sense of safety and connection to the physical world.

What can mess up your menstrual cycle?

Periods can stop due to various factors such as pregnancy, stress, sudden weight loss, being overweight or obese, extreme over-exercising, taking the contraceptive pill, reaching menopause, or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Most women have a period every 28 days, but shorter or longer cycles are common. If you have missed more than three periods in a row, see your GP. It is important to consult your GP if you experience any of these issues.

What chakra affects the ovaries?

What chakra affects the ovaries?

A balanced second chakra is essential for living in the present, enjoying every moment, being in touch with emotions, and being highly creative. The sacral chakra, which governs the stomach, reproductive organs, and kidneys, can cause issues like urinary problems, ovarian cysts, constipation, and kidney problems. Emotionally, it can lead to fear, insecurity, jealousy, and disconnection from society.

To balance the sacral chakra, one can sit on a chair or cross-legged with a straight spine, imagine the sacral area filled with a bright orange color, and breathe in the tangerine shade while exhaling. Chanting ‘vam’ with each exhale can also help.

Dr. Shezaim suggests grounding meditation and salt baths to balance the sacral chakra. Grounding involves sitting on a chair with feet on the floor, imagining roots growing deep into the earth, and draining negative emotions. Practicing baddha konasana (butterfly pose) while watching television can activate and open the swadisthana. Place a carnelian stone on the sacral for half an hour daily, while lying down with the gemstone below the navel, while performing the meditative practices and affirmations.

In summary, a balanced second chakra is crucial for living in the present, being in touch with emotions, and enjoying every moment.

What is the root cause of irregular periods?

Periods can be influenced by various factors such as puberty, menopause, pregnancy, hormonal contraception, weight gain, stress, anxiety, and excessive exercise. Some conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and an underactive thyroid gland can cause irregular periods. Symptoms may include irregular periods lasting longer than 7 days, weight gain, tiredness, hair growth, dry or oily skin, and difficulty getting pregnant. It is essential to seek medical help if you experience these symptoms.

Why is my period cycle so messed up?

Irregular menstrual cycles may be attributed to a number of factors, including psychological stress, underlying health conditions, pregnancy, and menopause. It is not uncommon for women to experience fluctuations in their menstrual cycle from one month to the next. However, these changes may be indicative of the onset of menopause. In the event of a suspicion of pregnancy, it is imperative to seek the counsel of a qualified medical professional and to undertake a pregnancy test without delay. For further information regarding available options, please consult with your physician.

What deficiency causes irregular periods?

What deficiency causes irregular periods?

Stress vitamins, such as B2, B3, and B6, are crucial for thyroid hormone production and adrenal function. They can affect irregular periods due to imbalances in thyroid function and stress. B vitamins are found in wholegrains, pulses, and leafy green vegetables and can be obtained through a B-complex tablet. Magnesium, found in nuts and seeds, can also be beneficial.

Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, and minerals zinc and selenium, are essential for irregular periods and endometrial hyperplasia. Women with womb tumors may have less of these vitamins than those without them. To support mineral levels, include fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds in your diet, focusing on a wide variety and incorporating nuts and seeds daily.

  • My chiro changed my life forever, they did a complete family history check, my diet, exercising and doing what and how exactly, x-rays galore, focused on one spot at a time than just a cure all, gave me a plan of how their going to cure me, looked at my shoes, my work and the type of floors, my footing, EVERYTHING. They bring me in to deep massage me, than put on electric pads, than put me in ice or hot bath depends, gets me into pt, than stretching and proper exercise, than I see my Dr and we go over every single problem and what needs to be focused on mostly to fix the problem. Basically filtering out the real main issue and going from there. Than adjusts me on the area that needs it, than gives me anything to help, brace, foot cushion, foam roller etc. That’s a good chiro who doesn’t want to keep seeing you forever and wants to prevent surgery and one who cares to the core on your daily well being

  • They’re not a bad chiropractor for doing their job, which is to adjust the spine. That’s what they’re trained to do. They’re not trained coaches and insurance doesn’t cover a lot of therapeutic exercise for chiros so they stay in their lane. I’ve done open room adjusting with 5 minutes per patient for a lot of years. Most chiro patients don’t want a lot of time, I don’t either. Adjust me and send me on my way. It’s a tool to help with training, period. Every patient needs to be training. Sure I believe in a magical office where I can spend an hour with each patient but most patients refuse to work on their biomechanics even when I explain to them the same issues over and over and over so guess what … they get popped and I say have a nice day. I pick my battles. But don’t judge us for doing what we’re trained to do.

  • I slipped my disk at work and I didn’t know what to do. I was in agony and the next morning I couldn’t get out of bed I was really concerned for the health of my back at only 29 years old. I saw a well know distinguished fellow ( a master) named Paul Bruno and American chiro in Perth Australia. 15 minutes with him and he fixed my skipped disk. They work he works and it’s all legitimate work. 99% back to perfection in my spine now

  • No, they don’t know what they’re talking about because they don’t even know the benefits of the adjustment. Adjustments brake up adhesions of aberrant joints, increase range of motion, relax spasms, stimulate the brain, increase circulation, decrease stress, enhance proprioception… it’s not just “feel good” endorphin release. Therfore, it could be a stand alone treatment, depending on the case by case and what the goals of the patient is

  • I was just trying to get a friend to understand this. A good chiropractor will bring relief through an adjustment back to proper alignment and also give exercises to maintain the adjustment. Even if the exercises are more physical therapy like in nature…the adjustment will set and stay making the patients quality of life better by giving them exercises to maintain .. instead they (not all) make the patient so dependent that they don’t do the work of staying functional after they get popped. They spend all of this money and they could be living a better quality of life because they do the work to maintain the adjustment. I truly believe they will make more money by helping them.and not crippling them

  • Great point. Some chiropractors are like this. They don’t truly care for the patient and just do it for the money. But some are extremely helpful and treat the patient with whatever will benefit them most. It’s also easier said than done to give patients different exercises and stretches to do, and them actually doing them.

  • Dude I get your point, but I’m pretty sure that chiros use their method because they would go bankrupt otherwise. 9/10 people want an instant treatment and don’t want to work for themselves truly, and it’s just not enough to work with just 1/10 of the people by the time the 9/10 say you’re bad cuz you did “nothing” for the first “x” sessions. Part of those 9/10 are lazy, part ultra busy and just need a quick relief, part ignorant and part stupid and can’t get your point about a “good” chiro treatment

  • I’ve been a chiropractor for 37 years. I went to the best school in the country. I work in a multidisciplinary medical facility. I started the chiropractic department there. None of you guys know what you’re talking about. And if you would like for me to come to your show and discuss it. I’d be happy to do that.

  • Have to mention all the ligament damage that going to chiropractors regularly can cause, and bones chipping off. Especially when they never find out why you keep going right back out. I had a serious jaw injury that I didn’t realize was causing my whole spine misalignments. My body kept referring pain down other parts of my spine. So I would go to the chiropractor constantly, then go right back out that very day. Now the ligaments in my neck are like stretched limp rubber bands.

  • And to further explain …. Not everyone has the discipline or compliance for the exercise part so they still want to experience the passive component. Not all conditions require exercise to gain benefits, that’s fact. Adjustments are a form of spine mobilization which is good for the discs, the joints between bones, and it helps to destreza the nervous system out of sympathetic response, scientific fact.

  • A chiropractor should always take x rays first from there you need to tell them what you feel where it is how you might’ve got to that point. He will always focus on the back neck but little by little go to your main problem. Remember if it’s a back problem and your in 30-60 if it took years to fuck up your back don’t expect to be good after 3 sessions. There’s things that chiropractors can’t fix because you might need surgery.

  • that guy that said he thinks the ‘first 3-4 sessions should just be assessment’ – WHAT! – I went to the first session and it was about 50 minutes of finding the issue – it was located – I didn’t even know where it was until that assessment. You don’t need 3-4 sessions of just assessment – you need a long first session which is mostly assessment.

  • I have to agree. Becareful of were you go because they can potentially trick u. For example: I was going to this chiropractor for 3 months. And felt everything was going great until I told them on my last visit day I’m not coming back. I got adjusted that day and he adjusted me differently than what he used to. Until I got home I noticed that he purposely misaligned me from how I started 3months ago. (I was able to flex my back left should abd back) They stay trying to put me on a new plan. Smh. Hopefully I can find a great chiro.

  • I am a chiropractor with 17 years experience. I don’t sell subluxations. I agree that difference people may need a different approaches to care. Some need exercise as part of their rehab. Some need modalities(ultrasound, stim, shockwave, laser, massage, acupuncture, nutritional, counselling, etc). But please don’t fall in the exercise fixes all of the root problem nonsense because it is definitely not.

  • I agree with those people to some extent. But also, arew those guys chiropractors? i’m just shedding light to the fact that everyone that is mocking the chiropractic ain’t really a chiropractor themself. Just like me, I ain’t a physiotherapist, I won’t be talking them down because I have no actual knowledge about their profession to comment what they should do or not. As a chiropractic student I agree, but don’t forget about a chiropractor’s philosophy.

  • The first 3 – 4 days of seeing a chiropractor you want them to focus on exercise and diet before doing adjustments? That’s ridiculous, you might as well go see a psyhical therapist. I had a chiropractor and the first appointment we did x-rays, they looked at my posture and had me to do certain movements. That’s enough. The second appointment is when we started doing the adjustments and they’d give me homework with a bunch of exercises to do and even showing me the best way to sleep and the best way to climb out of bed.

  • My old chiro from 15 years ago was legit and used to actually work on me including pregame with someone doing a massage. I would be in there for a while and the cracking was literally a small part of it at the very end. Now for the past 8 years I been trying chiros and all they want to do is crack everything and send me out in under 3 minutes. I thought I was going crazy thinking this isn’t what a real “chiropractor” does.

  • I had mild pain in my rhomboid that grew when a chiropractor convinced me i needed to stop lifting weight and go to him to get my back cracked until it heals. This guy altered the trajectory of my life so much because he had no idea how to teach me how to strengthen and stabilize the weak areas that had pressed nerves and bulging discs. Please god if you are reading this.. advise against going to get cracked at a chiro. You need to MOVE and strengthen safely. They studied tribes who carry stuff on their heads their whole life, they have crooked spines but no PAIN because their core is STRONG, external rotators are STRONG, hips and glutes STRONG and FUNCTIONAL

  • As a chiropractor now retired after 43 years in practice I totally agree with these guys! There are lot of confusing things about chiropractic which has often given us a bad rap. Since retiring and being fully aware of the problems with chiropractic I am currently writing a book titled the Enigma of Chiropractic. Watch for the publication once it is released. Thanks guys!

  • Great advice I was going to a chiropractor and he not only adjusted me but he explained what my issues were. He also gave me some exercises to do at home that would help me with my pain. He also didn’t adjust me until he had evaluated me I had x rays and he was able to identify my issues. The only reason I quit going to the chiropractor is insurance didn’t cover it and it was becoming costly.

  • The future of the healing arts, especially chiropractic, is movement focused therapy. However there are undeniable neurophysiologic effects that happen after adjustment for the relief of chronic pain and improvement of proprioceptive function. These neurophysiologic effects are what the kind of chiropractors, who “wack em n crack em,” are selling

  • Totally agreed, I went to chiro weekly because of my C4,C5 neck pain and herniated disc, 3 months of useless visits and lot of money. Chiro never fixed my problem, I ended to going to different route, being more active and walk more and always tried to correct my postures, I slowly going to the gym doing deadlifts, my neck and back pain is now 90% gone. Dont waste money on Chiro

  • I just recently went to a chiro for (what I found out later) was a torqued pelvis. I couldn’t bend over, I know when and how I did it, there was an audible sound and pain. He took x-rays on the initial visit, found what it was, and adjusted me that morning along with my leg that was apparently short (go figure). I was a little sore into the next day, but my movement is infinitely better, I can stand for longer, I don’t feel the need to lean like I did, even before the injury. I’ve gone back once since then, but even after the initial visit, he asked when I was next planning on going to the gym and it happened that that afternoon was a gym day and he specifically told me to not stop and to keep deadlifting. He gave me the “you may need to do lighter weight than usual for now” speech, but both visits he told me to not stop going and doing my usual training. Just the fact that he encouraged me to keep going signaled to me that he’s confident in his work/diagnosis and knows what he’s doing. I have to agree with you guys. Maybe not on the statement of “no adjustments on the first visit”, but everything else is spot on!

  • This is such a progressive article. Y’all are way passed the bs on how chiros aren’t effective or not Doctors. Y’all go straight to the programming of how it works. Great article and 100% agree, I am a chiro-student and this is the way we’re being taught to be Doctors. Thanks for explaining it to people!

  • All they want is money. Just saw a soft tissue specialist who is a DC and he said its a scam. But he couldny drop outnof school cahse he was already in so he stopped practicing like a year ish out if school bevause he said adjsutments dont help because the problem is the tissue attached to the spine. He said that these other DCs need to sell their boats instead of lying to us

  • Chiropractor doesn’t need to play around with you for two or three visits to know what’s wrong with you. That’s why we perform orthopedic neurological examinations so that we can determine within about 15 minutes what’s wrong with you and then we know how to correct it fast and efficiently. You guysdon’t know what you’re talking about. I’m sorry, but you just don’t.

  • What you’re describing is what they do at these joint franchises where people just want to get adjusted without a proper neurological orthopedic exam and x-rays evaluation.. you asked why because they pay $15 per adjustment and they don’t want to pay the appropriate price of getting the problem corrected.

  • I don’t understand why people don’t just save their money and see a physio instead for most minor issues . What a physio can’t fix go see your Dr as an Orthopaedic specialist referral may be needed or you may even need a Rheumatologist if the cause is autoimmune related. The right course of treatment is best decided by your GP initially. I certainly know that had we gone down that route with my husband and thrown money at a chiropractor initially his rheumatoid arthritis would have been completely missed . He needed blood work and the right referral – THEN medication and physical therapy . Not the same for everyone but I just feel that ppl are throwing money away at the symptom rather than exploring the cause which could be dangerous in the long run .

  • I have the best Chiro he sets you up with massages, movements and then light small adjustments and focuses on telling and showing me how to exercise the muscles that are at severe… Everything is on the patient the chiropractor only can do less than 50% of the work the rest is on the patient they need to do those exercises everyday. The work is hard 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • I’ve had serious injuries in my entire life that I have seen chiropractors every darn one has been an absolute joke, I think chiropractic can work in some instances but these guys are a joke in the beginning when I was seeing chiropractors they had a book and every darn one of them pulled out this book and would tell me what my name means with a type this? This was not just with one chiropractor it was with many, and now you go there and you’re an absolute pain trying to get relief and they want to sell you a couple thousand dollars worth of visits and you get a discount it’s ridiculous it’s a total scam money maker they lined people up and Pop pop you’re out in five minutes and you pay 100 bucks it’s a scam it’s a total joke, and they do things that can be dangerous especially with the neck talk to any legitimate surgeon, The blood veins going through your neck can get torn and you can die people already have died

  • Chiropractic neck adjustments are DANGEROUS. Each adjustment potentially stretches the ligaments more each time. The insidious part is it’s not always a torn vertebral artery resulting in stroke after one time. It could once, OR could be be 5-10 adjustments before you realize that burning nerve pain in your SKULL is the result of trashed upper neck ligaments (I.e. chiropractor induced Cranio-Cervical Instability, in my case)

  • That doesn’t make any sense. A chiropractors job is to adjust the spine … A chiropractor cannot correct the reason why they’re out of alignment only a patient can do that for themselves. I’d say education is important but can’t generalize all chiropractors in all spaces are bad if they only adjust because some clinics are set up so that the staffs job is to help educate the patient and the chiropractors sole purpose is to perform the best adjustment possible correcting the cause vertebral cause of the problem. The emotional chemical and physical cause of the misalignment is up to the patient .

  • I disagree and here’s why everybody has to work on their diet and start training or do things to make changes. There’s so many things that we can do. But I go to the chiropractor for an adjustment, then I leave, and I do the rest of my own. When I go to a chiropractor‘s office that tries to sell me on all kinds of life, coaching, advice, and other machines and all kinds of things that they can do, I start to get very annoyed. I lived with back pain for years, and when I finally started getting adjustments by a chiropractor, it did change my game. The pain went away after a little while (six months later; zero pain) so I know adjustments by themselves are actually profoundly helpful. In addition to that, I changed my exercise routine, my stretching routine and my diet. Everything in conjunction great. But I go to the chiropractor for an adjustment.

  • So to play devils advocate what if I have Spondylolisthesis or Scoliosis and I just want to feel a tad bit of relief. 9 times out of 10 you’re never going to fix the root cause of this issue. Once again define the word Adjustment if you do any research you will see it is totally different from a NUCCA approach to a Pro Adjuster approach. Than there is the whole HVLA approach…

  • I see my chiropractor once a week. My problem is that my C2 keeps coming out and it giving me neurological issues everything from speech problem, breathing, movement, concentration almost EVERYTHING! At one point I thought I must be riddled with cancer because I had tonnes of strange symptoms. He said when I’m stressed my neck muscle are pushing it out! So I read about the C2 and I’m worried about not fixing it and it becoming so acute that I’ll need surgery or end up paralysed

  • Chiropractors or Doctors in general, or even a trainer for that matter, cannot control what a patient does when they leave the office. My chiropractor does coach and teach people about healthy living but I guarantee that a large percentage of people just go on living their unhealthy lifestyle and just come back when they’re hurting again. I’ve been guilty of that so I’m speaking from experience.

  • Guys I just started seeing an upper cervical chiropractor for cervical instability. I am paying $3000 for this. Am I being scammed? I heard the upper cervical chiropractors are way better than average chiropractors. My current upper cervical chiropractor has recommended 1 exercise but only after I asked him if there were any exercises that could help.

  • I just had a first session with a chiropractor today and he had multiple beds set up and was more focused on selling to me, my kids and my parents than actually dealing with the issue that I have. I won’t be going back. And for $70 for 5 mins, and you cannot guarantee me results, then I’m not interested in burning money. When I was a personal trainer, I would guarantee results

  • The root cause – the most confusing thing ever….. If you sit behind a desk working the whole day – that physical and emotional stress is the cause – how do we get rid of it? Retire – root cause gone🙂 Often all we do is manage stresses and causes when you cannot get away from the root cause. As for exercises – yes you need them. Yes they are beneficial and I prescribe specific stretches and exercises for patients. However you need to consider – if you have a structural issue and doing exercises on top of that, are you helping it or setting them up future compensation patterns?

  • Chiropractors don’t teach people exercises. That’s the job of a physical therapist. There’s also a ton of articles on YouTube with physical therapist, chiropractors teaching people exercises. The important part of finding a good chiropractor is to find someone with good hands and skill. This aspects vary greatly between different chiropractors.

  • These people have no idea what they’re talking about…lol “if you don’t correct why they were out of alignment”… they are not correcting anything when you go to a chiropractor, they’re displacing a joint temporary that goes right back to where it was, and in doing so releasing gas in synovial fluid that builds back up within a matter of minutes… it does nothing, it accomplishes nothing other than it feels good for a few seconds…

  • I have been a chiro assistant for years now. I absolutely love seeing the people that get results in such a short amount of time. I’ve had ladies walking in crying because they have thrown their back out and 2-3 adjustments later they are walking completely upright as if it had never happened. Yes there are some out there who are in it for the money and don’t give a crap about the patient AVOID THEM!!!! Read reviews, look for ones who have had patients for years. They are out there. But people need to remember you won’t be perfect on the first adjustment, just like I tell some people, you don’t go to a gym one time and walk out with a 6-pack. Please just do research and don’t give up because it is a great a wonderful practice. It works even better when doing it in combo with other practices, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture they are peanut butter and jelly. They are both good solo but even better together!

  • I agree with most of what was said however, you are underestimating the power of a adjustment, taking care of a subluxation. Traditional chiropractic has never been about healing. It has been about adjusting the spine so the spinal cord can send and receive it’s signals freely without Interference and this itself helps if not helps most people. Don’t believe me? Look at what the nervous system controls. From heart beat to digestion.

  • a chiropractor shouldn’t need more then one session to diagnosis the problem and get started on fixing it, but you can always tell the bad ones from the good ones, because the good ones will always start out with an evaluation, testing range of motion and feeling out the body and the bad ones go straight into adjustments.

  • What you describe is the same as going to the Doctor period. If the doctor sees symptoms and immediately prescribes medications. This is not a good doctor. But if the doctors first asks about your diet and prescribes changes in your life style to facilitate healing and overall health. That is a good doctor. As the man said what is the root of your issue and how can we together fix these problems. That is your doctor. This is why Diabetes has exploded in America. Eat to heal, not damage your health. The parallel has been drawn. Wake up.

  • I used to had the best chiropractor long time ago but he retired and since then became my nightmare until recently I found one decent and do most than anyone I had seen before but I am not sure if my age sometimes becomes a liability, I don’t osteoporosis, artritis my bones are strong but I suffer from things that I think are important a little dehydration a lot stress and because my nasal congestion I can’t breathe well from the nose, so I don’t know if this should be a problem or not. The thing my adjustment doesn’t last long enough

  • The vast majority of chiropractors do give their patients proper “at home” protocols and lifestyle recommendations including corrective exercises, diet, sleep etc. However, patient compliance is sometimes a problem. Also chiropractic alignments do more than just relieve pain, but actually improve the entire health potential by relieving stress off of the muscles, joints, nerves, and organs connected to those nerves. Studies prove that regular visits to the chiropractor are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.

  • There are exceptions. I threw my back out pretty bad (its always a routine motion or easy lift that does it, I believe shoveling snow after long moving job in this case). Had to use my arms to push up out of a chair or go gown a set of stairs. I went to a friend of mine who had been a chiro for 30 years. But was my first time ever getting chiropractic. And i woulda been pissed if i didn’t get adjusted in that case. Just by perusal me get out the chair, and get onto the table he knew. He identified where was out and spent 20 min adjusting, then gave me yogic stretches. I understand the sentiment of teaching corrective patterns and not necessarily adjusting on first session or 2, past intake/assessment, but again there are clear exceptions

  • The reason chiros don’t correct the root cause is to get the patient to come back to pay them money continously. Ive worked for good chiros and bad chiros. And the good ones will always spend more time with you and try to correct posture and assist you in strengthening muscle. Not just crack you in 5 minutes and youre on your way.

  • Completely agree. On the other side of the equation are people unwilling to put in the work to maintain good biomechanics, adhere to corrective or rehab or strengthening exercises, stretching, diet, etc. it goes both ways. Also, multiple chiro visits isn’t necessarily indicative of inefficacy. The same way one would have multiple visits to an OT, PT, or trainer, people need to understand that chiropractic visits aren’t a one stop shop and fix all solution. It requires maintenance and adherence to lifestyle changes in addition to whatever adjustments, modalities, and soft tissue work a chiro can administer

  • Should a person go see a doctor (Ortho, internist, etc) first and then see a chiropractor upon referral? Personally, it feels like my lower back is filled with wet sand/cement. If im in a supine or seated position I don’t feel any pain. The pain occurs when I transition from seated to standing, standing to seated, seated to supine. It takes a little while for me to switch positions. I do tend to feel the pain when standing for long periods of time or walking, but that pain is a little higher in the mid back. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. (I know yt comments isn’t the best place to go for advice sometimes, I’m really just wondering if I should see a doctor first; I’d rather not waste my time/money going to a chiropractor if they can’t do anything for me, ya know?)

  • I agree that adjustments aren’t the be all end all solution for everyone with back pain and some doctors go overboard. Still, 3-4 visits before treating, regardless of what the treatment is, is nonsense in my opinion. People who go to a chiropractor are often in a lot of pain and many have already seen or are currently seeing a physiotherapist and an MD for their symptoms. It makes sense that no doctor should treat without a thorough history and exam, but beyond that point they should have a good idea as to what the issue is. That’s literally what they’re trained to do. Also, if a chiropractor is spending an hour or more with every patient they see they will likely go bankrupt unless they have some specialized care that a large enough patient demographic is willing to pay a premium for. People seem to forget that chiro’s are small business owners at the end of the day, and no matter how progressive or evidence-based they are, they still need to keep the lights on.

  • Chiropractic is about finding and correcting subluxation. What these guys are looking for is a chiropractor who also does physical therapy and personal training. The cause of the patient’s problem is their own lifestyle. And many personal trainers and physical therapists are making people worse by having their clients squat or deadlift, do mobility that their body can’t genetically do without injury, or stretching (which injures discs). So go to the chiropractor to correct your subluxation. Then the patient has a choice: stop doing the activities that are making him worse, like his workouts….or just expect to go to the chiropractor for maintenance visits, like Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, and all the greats.

  • Don’t ever trust a chiropractor. I know I don’t and my grandfather was Dr. Earl Craton, D.C. He was the best in the industry, tried to raise their standards, and then completely turned his back on them and taught me everything he knew after they passed on the much needed improvement. The first chiropractor I ever worked on was soon to be the Board President in my state. That was back in 1991.

  • I went to a chiropractor once. All he did was crack my neck, back, use a massage gun and a drop table. After 5 sessions, I stopped going. Each session became shorter but cost the same as the first visit which was longer. About 30 minutes. Every other session was about 15 minutes each time. I didn’t feel any different from the first visit. I haven’t been to one since.

  • Many good points made from credible participants because they have been through the journey. their opinion and perspective matters. The protocol you’re trying to remember is called practice management how to build big and prosperous chiropractic businesses. The techniques scenario you described could be called the hole-in-one. those chiropractors only thrust once or twice on a patient usually the upper cervical. ran into your article by accident actually. Retired chiropractor, commenting here be blessed!😇

  • I’m a chiropractor. This treatment isn’t all about cracking only, the same science that guide physiotherapist also guide chiropractor, which is knowledge about human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology. You don’t just crack when not require. An x-ray will reveal if you need to be adjust, in fact vital sign such as blood pressure and any cardiac conditions should be verify because patient like these might not be able to absorb pressure on thoracic during prone position. Same with diabetic and osteoporosis patients. We help people in pain by interfere with wrong neurotransmission between afferent and efferent, stimulate energy, support vasodilation and manually bring muscles to it resting state to aid relaxation, We don’t just do what comes to our head but we apply science just like every other medical professionals.

  • I’m the office manager for an excellent chiropractor. It helps my husband, son& I a great deal to be able to go in for 4-8 week check ups or if something seems “off”. We enjoy powerlifting, but it can be hard on your body, even when you’re trying to be as careful as possible. I think it’s great to be in with a Chiropractor who can give us feedback about proper alignment& adjust any smaller issues, before they become worse& harder to manage. Patients always do best when they take personal responsibility& follow the Dr’s instructions outside of the office. The Dr tries to screen out patients who just want “fast food” style care.

  • Chiropractic applied kinesiologist for 36+ yrs here. A great deal of what is said in the article is quite correct. The commenters below who completely dismiss the chiropractic adjustment (and indeed chiropractic itself) as nonsense, are ignorant, incurious idiots … obviously with no relevant background. I can easily point them to scholarly research which beautifully explains the neurology of the spinal “adjustment” (antiquated terminology — but I’ll use it here for simplicity). The adjustment — if delivered accurately and precisely, DOES positively affect neurology by correcting mechanoreceptor and nociceptor sensory feedback from involved joints. By the way – the prevalent notion that subluxation causes “pinching-off” of spinal nerves as the exit the canal is also nonsense… based on theories dating back to the Palmers in 1895. The adjustment should serve (as the panel correctly points out) as an important step in an exercise, soft tissue balancing, nutritional approach to functional health…. NOT as the be all/end all treatment. The rack-’em, stack-’em, see you 3x/week-for-life program is embarrassing.

  • I’ve had three L5/S1 subluxations (partial dislocation) over 61 years from over training. Immediately stopped when I felt the pain. Went straight to the chiropractor the next day and got realigned. No herniated discs ever and have the lumber spine of a five year old with X-ray proof. If you leave it or push through the pain, like Ronny Coleman, your next stabbing pain will be a disc herniation. I also had a stiff neck from not going to a chiropractor for multiple whiplashes and concussions from rugby, bicycle and motorcycle accidents and at 59 the chiropractor fixed it. If you have neck pain or a stiff neck after an accident and you think it’s just a pulled muscle your body produces bone spurs to immobilise your spine to protect the spinal cord. If you have repeated whiplashes and concussions and do not get adjusted your cervical discs will progress from stage 1 arthritis (normal disc thickness but misaligned vertebrae) to stage 4 (total cervical disc fusion). It takes about 20 to 30 years.

  • Also, if all you do is go to the Doctors and get 7 different medications for your diabetes, but you continue gettin worse, andnthey really dont help you out w your diet and lifestyle choices, probably time to quit goin to those doctors… but you cant cuz they got you dependent on those meds. Oh and they are licensed MDs. Same shit happens everywhere you gotta find the good cooks and weed out the crooks.

  • I went into a Chiro on Saturday with minor sciatica. He did a full treatment and I collapsed immediately and had to go to the ER. I’m now facing fusion surgery and it’s Thursday. For context, I’m a 41 year old in perfect shape. I’m strong in the gym, flexible, and I’m 10 percent body fat. I can’t even walk right now. He injured me.

  • The founder of chiropractic Palmer, said Chiropractic was the cure for all disease and that he was taught it by a doctor that died 50 years before, Palmer wanted to make Chiropractic a religion. “The American Medical Association called chiropractic an “unscientific cult” in 1966.” “Chiropractors, including Palmer, were jailed for practicing medicine without a license. Palmer wanted to establish chiropractic as a religion to resolve this problem.” “A 2003 profession-wide survey found “most chiropractors still hold views of Innate Intelligence and of the cause and cure of disease consistent with those of the Palmers.” And they don’t believe in vaccines “During the COVID-19 pandemic, chiropractic professionals spread anti-vaccine disinformation.” So at best it’s pseudoscientific and ineffective but at worst it’s fatal “It is frequently associated with mild to moderate adverse effects, with serious or fatal complications, several deaths have been associated with this technique.”

  • I just think if you don’t feel comfortable don’t do itx if you question should I be doing this that you should do it. Iv been to three different chiros all saying how terrible I am I ask them what can I do at home they all reply no 7ou don’t need to do anything I can fix this …. Ok I will need to see you three times a week and in a month we can cut down to once a week nahhh stuff scam

  • So basically the chiropractic stuff isn’t needed. Actually getting X-rays to find the source doesn’t require a chiropractor. If exercise and overall health is prescribed, the chiropractor is still not needed. Skip the chiropractor altogether to save time and money. That’s the plan I’ve been following and I’ve never spent a dime on a chiropractor.
