The Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, or Magic Trackpad can be connected to a Mac using a USB-C to Lightning Cable or a Lightning to USB Cable. To set up the device, turn on the device and wait for it to recharge its battery. If the wireless input device comes in the box of your new Mac, simply turn it on to begin using it. Otherwise, follow the two-finger swipe method to move through pages, photos, and more.
To customize your mouse settings, adjust tracking and scrolling speed, enable or disable gestures. For a new Magic Mouse, unpack the mouse and insert the battery. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iMac by going to Apple menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth.
Plug the Lightning end of the cable into the Lightning port on the bottom of your mouse and the USB end into a USB port on your Mac. Slide the on/off switch to on (green on the switch). Your mouse will pair automatically with your Mac.
In the Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences), click Bluetooth. When your device appears in Bluetooth preferences, click the “Mouse” button. Connect the included Lightning to USB cable to the Lightning connector of the Magic Mouse or Magic Keyboard.
To customize your mouse settings, click “Mouse” in System Settings. To connect your mouse and other third-party accessories to your Mac, bring your mouse into pairing mode at the bottom of the mouse and turn it off and back on again. Wait until the little green light above the power switch appears.
The Magic Mouse can be connected to a Mac using a Lightning to USB or USB-C cable, followed by switching the power on and allowing automatic pairing.
