I have seen Stevie 4 times, twice as a solo artist and twice with Fleetwood Mac. She is an amazing performer and her concerts were well worth the money. When it comes to their personal lives, there is a lot of disappointment. To have fame and to play your life out in public like that, it must be very hard.
I finally got to see her live two days ago! I cant believe I actually had the chance to see her, I never thought that could happen. I’m 18 and started getting into her solo music and Fleetwood Mac a couple years ago. The concert was definitely one of the best days of my life, I couldn’t believe how amazing her vocals still are! Seriously it was so freaking amazing I will always cherish that day. She truly is something special and there will never be anyone like her!
Buckingham helped w most of her solo work. She would not have been in FM without him. He isn’t jealous lol. He quit in 87 because he basically put Tango in the Night together by himself as Nick’s was still battling drugs. He was over the drama and wanted out. As a red blooded American male and a rock musician myself. I can’t find any fault with Stevie. If the men in her life couldn’t over come their possession of their lovers, that I not her fault. These roosters crow all the time about how they want women treated equally, in all things, but OMG if their girl friend or wife gives the time of day or a fling in the hay with someone their attracted to. (well that was fucked)… So, anyway, my infatuation with Stevie began during that concert and continues today. In many ways, she has written the soundtrack to my life — and many a roommate and neighbor can attest to that. In Denver, 1989, during the final show of her “Other Side of the Mirror” tour, I was able to hand her a song I wrote on stage. Nothing ever happened — and I didn’t expect it would — but I committed that song to memory & the heavens, and never retained a copy. Another highlight of my life was a visit to Payson AZ with my Mom in the early 2000’s. We were antiquing and decided to hit up the last shop, the “Silver Spring Emporium”, on our last day. We walked in and the entire entryway was completely embellished with Stevie memorabilia. I started to cry. The lady asked me what was wrong, and I explained that I was a life-long, diehard, spiritually connected fan. I asked back, “Why do you have all this Stevie stuff?” Well, this was her Mom’s store. I almost collapsed. I was seriously overwhelmed to be in the karmic presence of Ms. Stevie Nicks. After examining the evidence (for what seemed like days), I was able to walk out with a newfound outlook on life. I wish Stevie health, love, and spirit. And I thank her for blessing my life. The people that made Fleetwood Mac into a massive success are Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. They wrote all the songs. Buckingham arranged and semi-produced them. Stevie admitted in her autobiography that she would scribble words, hum melodies, then hand them over to Buckingham, who made them into songs. Without him, she’d be a nobody. She’s a power-hungry sanctimonious snatch for demanding the firing of the man that gave her a career.
People can be wonderful singers. She dumped Fleetwood Mac. Yes she had a good solo career but she is not a good person. Screwing both men in the group. When a woman is so self-centered she believes and even declares to the whole world how killing four of her babies was a good thing because her music was so important to the world, that was when I deleted all of her songs. I am not a fan. I saw her in 2007 in Vegas. A friend of mine urged me to go, assuring me that I would change my opinion of her if I saw her live. I heard a ramshackle band that played out of tune, witnessed a bunch of boomers in caftans worshiping at her feet, saw massive slide shows of the singer when she was young and hot, and above all winced at her own out of tune goat bleat. In addition to her own numbers I was promised by my friend that she did a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Rock and Roll that was the best he had ever heard, better even than Ann Wilson from Heart. That assurance was what convinced me to go, despite not being a fan of hers. Ms Wilson has nothing to worry about. Nicks had to take the tune a step down (from A to G) and, as with her own numbers, sang flat. I could take no more. I walked out of the theater and waited for my friend outside. Oh well. At least I have a story to post about her that will piss off her tone deaf fans.
Stevie Nicks is a talented vocalist and lyric writer, I don’t deny. But Lindsey Buckingham was all that, plus writes the music to all the Fleetwood Mac songs. And did I mention that Lindsey is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. And without Lindsey insisting she be allowed to join Fleetwood Mac, Stevie would not have even had a career with the band. And years later in 2018 Stevie repaid that insistence by insisting Lindsey be fired from the band. So no, I feel Linsey Buckingham is a far more important member of the band, that was done wrong by Stevie Nicks.
I liked her until she got Lindsey kicked out of the band. And then got other backup musicians fired because they wouldn’t abandon him completely. No matter what went down between them, vindictiveness is never pretty. And for the record, the rumors about Lindsey ever physically assaulting her have been proven false. Mick Fleetwood even admitted that he lied about it all in his book, as salaciousness sells and he needed the money at the time.

Whenever I have heard her interviewed she seems to come across as conceited and arrogant; for example she said in one interview that she was the equal of Clapton and Winwood, which is nonsense, they are both virtuoso musicians whilst Nicks cannot play anything. I also do not like her continual talking about her personal problems, which come across as washing dirty linen in public.

Great story, very interesting & informative!! My 1st memories of seeing Stevie were age 4…watching the article for “Hold Me” play as much as possible. Loved that song, but also fascinated by the beautiful blonde lady in the red dress. Something about her felt mysterious. Saw her next in what would become another favorite, “Gypsy.” She seemed angel like this time, though still mysterious. Then the haunting “Little Lies.” Very different than I recalled her before, more frilly, but mysterious still. I knew what witches were…I was horrified of them (thanks Wizard of Oz). The Stevie I saw definitely didn’t come across as a witch in any way to my child eyes …I’d have ran screaming & never looked back (just like 4 year old me stumbling upon KISS’ Destroyer album in K-Mart😱).
