MMXXL gets a lot of hate for being silly and its obviously attractive male leads. But what I will always love and appreciate this film for its its centering and normalization of female pleasure and desire. This guy is actively just trying to make this girl smile — for no other reason than to show he can. Not to humiliates her, or to prove some point beyond that. Just… ‘hey, i can make you smile’. And there’s something really pure and lovely about that. that’s the whole movie. Just ‘I wanna make women feel good, and that’s it. Not ‘i wanna prove my manhood by humiliating, subjugating, or objectifying them.
