Why is Elf on a Shelf sold in store?

The Elf on the Shelf, a popular toy and book series, has been available in various stores since 2005. Santa wanted to share his secret with families who wanted to adopt an elf, so he set up adoption centers across the country. Families can pick up their elf from the store and choose their own. The story does not detail how Santa gets the elf to a family, but it became more important as Santa received phone calls and letters from families wanting to adopt an elf.

Santa allowed elves to hibernate until they receive their name, as the book states that an elf does not receive its magic until it is named. In conclusion, the Elf on the Shelf may have been a misunderstanding, but Santa would be happy to send a letter to your daughter to explain the situation. If not, they wish you and your family the best this holiday season.

  • I swear I love those shoes!! LOL! They are so freakin’ adorable! I’m a sucker for coral colored shoes 🙂 I am SO happy you’re starting to wear lashes! WHOO HOO! I can’t wait to see them on your gorgeous peepers! 😀 Those ELF blushes are actually really impressive in the swatches you showed! I have been thinking of splurging on another high end foundation and the Guerlain is kinda calling my name! It’s between that or Dior … hmm! Have you tried the Dior foundation yet? xoxo!

  • Hi Kristin! I really like this background! Those shoes are so you and they look so comfortable! I have never seen the Julie G polishes either. Neat that you got to see them in person. Pretty NARS lip pencil. Love that you are enjoying bright lips…so lovely on you! Hope you has a wonderful Easter today! xx V.

  • The elf moisture stick really works! I also had to get it once Emily mentioned it a hundred times. 😉 I always pick up things she loves… It is SOOOO GOOD!!! I have THREE! Purse, office, vanity. Also the elf baked blush you mentioned- I have it and I love it!! For me it stays on all day. When I go for an especially bronzed look, that blush gives me that awesome just-right glow… Love it. 🙂 Hope you will enjoy it! 😀

  • I’ve missed you, my friend. I’m finally starting to watch articles again after getting back from vacation. You will love the Elf kabuki brush. I heard someone once say it’s as soft as a bunny’s tail and I agree 🙂 Great goodies! I love when you wear Chanel’s Mademoiselle lipstick. My favorite! Hugs. Sandra.

  • I had to snicker when you started pulling out the new brushes:) I said out loud(as if you could here me), “Kristin”…. And then you commented back… That was funny :)) it was at that moment I realized, we buy what we want, and it doesn’t matter if we have others or need it. We want it. And that constitutes the term “makeup junkie”, I’m right there with ya sister, along with many on here 🙂 it’s just fun! Enjoy your new stuff :))

  • I commented on your vlog, but just wanted to let these ladies know that you really are a warm and lovely person. I really enjoyed meeting you, and it was so cool getting your recommendations on some of my purchases. I also enjoyed meeting Lori (spelling?). The instagram pic of the two of you is beautiful! xo Sheri

  • Sounds like you had an awesome time here in the Burgh! Again, I’m so bummed I wasn’t able to make it to your meetup. 🙁 I really wanted to meet you too…. Ugh…. Story of my life, LOL. Those shoes you got at Ross are super cute! I like that store too. Once I found a dress there on clearance for 50cents… No joke, LOL! That was my deal of the century, hahaha! And finding NYX at the grocery store…. Sounds like you went to Giant Eagle 😉 Every time I go grocery shopping there, I always hit up the NYX display… It’s GREAT! 😉 Awesome haul Kristen!!!! I hope you and Bob have a wonderful Easter! 🙂 HUGS ~Christy

  • LOVE Ross Stores and have shopped there for over 5 years. I shop them in EVERY town when we travel (some are nicer than others)! I think some of the best ones (on the East Coast) are in the Northern Virginia area (large store with lots of name brand high end stuff and very classy looking). However, since the 2007 economy downturn, Ross stores downsized tremendously…..they use to carry soooooo much stuff, you couldn’t get up and down the isles! I love when it’s vacation time in August 🙂 I, too, just picked up my first 4 bottles of Julie G polishes…and really like them. Will you do a review on them for us???

  • i need to warn you. YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THAT ELF KABOOKI BRUSH!!! OMG i was so pleasantly surprised! your sneakers would match perfectly with the blouse you have on! ” i dont remember what i went looking for and ended up with a whole bunch of other things!” ha ha! story of my life! whenever you buy a blush that looks better on your hand than on your cheek that’s always a no no for me. the brown in the NARS duo is called coconut grove. its the darkest brown i have seen in any label! you will love it. start off with a light hand.

  • Great haul…those Nars products look amazing. And it is Bleecker. 413 Bleecker Street is the Nars Store in the West Village in NYC. Curious about that shampoo and conditioner from Rite Aid. I have two within a few miles of my house and I think I take them for granted…lol. Don’t know if you watch Wayne Goss, but he has a concealer tip article about using eyelid primer under the eye to help with creasing. It reall works. Have a great day.

  • You’re so cute when talking about the shoes. I picked them up, I purchased them, I picked them up and then purchased them. When I watch other people do haul articles, it’s funny to me when they continually say “I picked this up”. I have this vision in my head of them going around the store and continually picking up things and then putting it back. They literally picked everything up.

  • Love the necklace! Is that shirt from Old Navy? I like it 🙂 Sometimes I want to wear lashes every single day, but they’re such a pain to put on, lol. One of the Ulta employees tried the Bareskin on me and I actually really liked it. It was very natural looking and dewy. I have dry skin and it’s difficult to find good foundations. Ah, the struggle 😉 <3

  • Wow awesome Haul! Love everything! Love love your new tennis, super cute & the color is awesome! My goodness what a great day when Nordstrom has a Sale on cosmetics! I have the ELF Kabuki & really enjoy it, I use for applying my Nars magical powder with & blending out everything. I’m with you on the Nars powder, not sure there is anything magical about it, I use it because I have it, but I truly don’t know that it does anything, I hope to shout it does something though. Still weighing my thoughts on it! It feels nice on! Lol. Kristen it is a little hard to do 4 looks 1 palette with Drugstore palettes as there are not that many palettes out there really, I mean you can only work with what is out there, so no worries! Thanks for sharing this with us, enjoyed it.

  • Great haul! I really love Ross, wish we had one! You really lucked out finding that awesome sale at Nordstom! Sounds like you had a fabulous vacation! Also want to say how wonderful you are to have pre-recorded all of the articles, so we didn’t miss a beat! I know that must have taken a huge amount of work and planning! I love that you are so dedicated to your subscribers! 🙂

  • I love becca moonstone highlighter in pressed so I picked up the liquid form instead of the nars one but I’m not sure why. It’s really gorgeous I just work better with powders. So I went to exchange it for opal pressed which of course was OOS and walked out with a becca radiant fdn lol. Story of my life ha.

  • A) Great necklace. 😉 B) Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Bare Minerals Liquid Foundation and the brush. I’m intrigued. C) I really want that Sephora Domed Stippling Brush- it’s on my list. Great minds think alike. D) I’ve never seen the elf pressed blushes…cool beans. Great Nars goodies. Lots of awesome stuff, sister! Missed seeing your face and hearing your voice while I was on vacay. Love you! XOXO Sarah

  • L’Occitane’s Amande/Almond line is so great! My fave is the L’Occitane Almond Firming Milk Concentrate Body Cream. which I use on my face … and adore. (grr. can’t buy it anymore. For anyone who is curious: they sell in China and do not need to. so, for shame on what was on of my fave companies!) The NARS blush = stunning! as is that jumbo lip pencil. Your blush is called “Rosebud.” I think. (Some of) the names are on their website narscosmetics. ‘cept the Duo, which appears to have no name. go figure. and I searched. ta-ta, xoxo.

  • Fun stuff. Great sale at Nordstroms. Try the illuminator under your foundation, like a primer. Estee Lauder has one that is very nice. I don’t have any Nars products but I know people rave about them. Glad your home safe. Bummer to have to go back to work. But hey, after snow this week, Spring may be here? Take care-Sue

  • Hi Kristin, Love the tennis shoes! I’ll have to check out my local Ross to see if they carry the same thing. Too cute for summer. By the by, I was wondering if you’ve tried any Edward Bess products? That Nars illuminator would be lovely mixed with your moisturizer and used on your chest, shoulders, etc. It’s so pretty. Thanks for the haul, see you next time!

  • I learned earlier this year about Nordie’s matching sales that Lord & Taylor does. Cracked me up, but I was happy about it as I was able to snag several of the Cashmere Mist deodorants for an even BETTER price than Nordie’s normal discounted price. Happy Camper! And what do u MEAN you cant create 4 looks 1 palette w a drugstore quad???? LMAO I laughed so hard that people have been giving you flack. Really people?!?!?. Bless your heart Kristin, I love you to pieces. Xx C
