Some omens, like the Madman omen card, cannot be dropped, traded, or stolen. The rule book states that “normal” actions of pick up, drop, give, take, or steal can be done with either items or omens, but not with companions. Players may freely exchange any number of Items and Omens as long as they both agree to the trade, with one condition: they cannot give someone an Item or Omen.

When instructed to drop items or omens, players may do so even if it’s not their turn or they already dropped items or omens. The defender will roll the same trait, usually Might, but some items and omens may instruct you to roll a different trait. This omen can’t be dropped, traded, or stolen.

When a player dies, any companions that they possess stay in that room, and the next explorer to the room will follow. Shuffle the omen cards into a deck and place them face down where all players can reach them. Every time an omen is discovered, a number of dice are rolled, and if these add up to a certain number, the game changes.
