In Dungeons and Dragons, Bards are considered a Jack-of-All-Trades class, drawing power from magic and offering melee abilities. They can learn spells from Fey creatures like Satyrs or Eladrin, such as Fireball, Pass Without Trace, Fly, Counterspell, and Hunger of Hadar. At level 18, Bards can use their Magical Secrets feature to learn spells of any level.
Bards can choose from a vast selection of powerful options at every level, including smoke, rainbow, and ethereal-themed spells like Blink and Prismatic Spray. However, the bard spells you can learn only follow your bard level, but you can upcast to the 8th level. Magical Secrets adds the given spells to the bard spell list for you, and you can replace them when you level up with any other spell.
Bards can invoke magic through music, dance, and verse, inspiring others, soothing hurts, disheartening foes, and creating illusions. They can purloin a spell off someone else’s list using Magical Secrets and make it their own forever. Bards can also learn Shield on their own outside Magic Secrets, Detect Thoughts, Mage Hand, and Resistance to psychic.
In D and D 5e, Bards can choose from Counterspell, Revify, Wall of Force, Heal, and more. By level 14, there might be level 6 or 7 spells that Bards want to take for magical secrets. The College of Glamour Bard in D and D 5e is an example of a Bard who can learn from Fey creatures like Satyrs or Eladrin.
