How Much Do Spells For Halloween Enhance Unusuals?

The Halloween spells are rare add-ons to cosmetics and weapons that only appear during the Halloween event. They are dropped via the Haunted Halloween Gift, which drops every couple of hours on the map. Paint spells, such as sinister staining and chromatic corruption, are only worth an extra on unusuals if they match the item’s effect well. However, they will never come back, so if you find a Unusual with Paint+Footprint spells, it could potentially add 5-10 keys.

To help price unusuals or spelled items, consult several trusted traders and collect offers from backpack.tf, the most popular TF2 community price guide. Halloween spells are one-use items that can be applied to weapons and cosmetics, and were only dropped a few scream fortresses back. While the spell won’t add much to the hat’s value, it might make it look more attractive to a potential buyer.

It is unclear why these items wouldn’t ever come back, but some people are willing to trade for them if they still existed. The TF2 Team could consider adding a tool that would allow for the transfer of Halloween spells. Normally, for spells, 1/4 of the price of the spell is added to the hat, which may vary depending on the hat. Unusual quality items have special particle effects attached to them and are considered some of the rarest items in Team Fortress 2.

  • 8:08 I think invisiblity spell on sniper is very underrated. One time i had this spell as sniper and i used it, i walked to the frontline and i got a kill. The ennemy didnt saw me and moved in a straight line. And as engineer i can think of maybe ninjaneering or like using the spell and grabing you sentry to get out of a situation I love spells and i think valve should let them as they are. Great article!

  • Hell yes, a 50 minute tier list about the thing that best captures the essence of the madness of Scream Fortress, Spells. Some of them might make me wanna punch my desk but overall I really love the concept and think they make Halloween maps that much more fun, although I am glad there’s a good amount of maps that don’t have them.

  • Great article overall. On thing I’m surprised wasn’t brought up as a negative for the Minify spell is this: If the enemy team has an engineer, your going to have a bad time with the Minify spell, because the sentry knock-back is INSANE. While it may not kill you all the time, you are basically forbidden from getting close to certain areas, you will have a much harder time doing damage, and it can be risky on maps with cliffs on them. And considering God knows how many players run Mini Sentries on Halloween maps, this will come up a LOT. It’s why I generally prefer offensive rare spells like Meteor, Ball o’ Lightning or Monoculus if the enemy team has engineers.

  • I’ve got to share ONE super niche scenario where the minify spell is absolutely broken on heavy. Because of the double firing speed, plus the mobility minify gives you, using the brass beast can be absolutely devastating, because it lets you absolutely delete enemies with its extra damage. The minify spell basically makes up for the brass beast’s slow speed, and lets you close the distance you otherwise can’t, on top of letting you literally just drop down on top of people to delete them

  • Parachute spell can do a double hit for insane knock back very underrated. Also you can use other spells while using the Uber or bomb head spell in bumper cars. Last thing, you actually deal critical damage during the Uber spell in bumper cars. I made a spell guide for the bumper cars last year and love the mini game and sharing my knowledge of it.

  • You’re definitely right about the PK Fire being super good, as a clip farmer I always kinda ignore it because just raw, good, easy damage isn’t very interesting LOL, but yeah it’s super strong. I do think you’re heavily underestimating the PK Thunder, though, putting it in the same tier as bats, especially if monoculus is being put in A tier. Perhaps we’ve just had different experiences with it, maybe I play on more choke-heavy maps, but I feel like PK Thunder is just far too effective in a lot of common scenarios with little wiggle room for those caught in it. It can be prone to fail, but personally I’ve rarely experienced that. Usually when I get tickled by it, I can say goodbye to my life unless I’ve got a good spell to heal me or get extremely lucky. But yeah very fun article, and I generally agree with your takes! It makes me really appreciate spells even more, they really are such a treat and it’s almost a shame they aren’t available year round.

  • I feel like I’ve warped from an alternate dimention when you talk about how people feel about the power levels of Halloween spells. All of these are incredibly standard opinions on the spells. Not saying I didn’t enjoy the article, but I have never met a person who thinks fireball is a mediocre spell, and minify a god-tier spell.

  • The interesting part of going into third person in TF2, is that it can be easily reverted by having a ‘firstperson’ bind. Which will force the game to put you back into first person (but not back to third) so if you want to aim real good while under the effects of things like those, you can force to go back to first person by having that bound to a key. And if it doesn’t… I honestly actually thought it did.

  • Fireball storm has an alternate variant. Instead of the rain of meteors, it makes a fountain. Its still incredibly effective, but its not as powerful, and the icon is the same as the normal version, so its difficult to know which one you’re about to cast. Also, the Base Jump spell deals damage in addition to its knockback.

  • MIRV is an acronym for Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle which is in reference to nuclear warheads deployed via ICBMs with the idea of multiple warheads being more likely to slip past defense systems. Fun Fact: The MIRV Grenade was the secondary grenade for Heavy and Demoman in Team Fortress Classic and was going to spiritually come back as the dynamite bundle for Demoman in TF2 (and seen in action in the 2006 gameplay trailer).

  • For anyone wondering why the highest tier on the list is a bible verse, here is what it says, KJV. “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all the green grass was burnt up.” Basically, Armageddon. Edit: misspelled a word.

  • Meteor Shower and Fireball is just about the only spells that excites me to pick up. Unless there’s a certain occasion where a spell I normally just throw away instantly is somehow useful on the map or for the class on the map. Also stealth spell can be really useful on engineer to sneak behind their backline with a teleporter and cause chaos with unexpected sentries either at or near enemy spawn.

  • one thing I hate with all my being about shadow leap is how it simply bounces off the ghost bridge and so if you chuck one up the bridge to make it to the rare spell you just die instantly, ive lost so many spells because I just picked up shadow leap, wanted to warp to the manor because I won’t make it in time at regular move speed and proceed to just die because the projectile hit the bridge and just slid off the brodge and off the cliff, warping me into the death zone.

  • One point on stealth is that it also disables critical damage until its effect is canceled fully (I think attacking just cuts time off its duration, as you can fire and only partially shimmer and it’ll stay in effect, but continuous fire ends it) so whileextrwmely good stealth can momentarily weaken crit tools that would otherwise see extreme benefit from stealth attacking like FJ or the phlog.

  • Tbh I feel blast jump is better used as an evasion spell than a combat spell, the healing and high jump which forces opponents to take a second or two to readjust their aim, as well as that fact that I think it knocks back nearby enemies means if you’re in dire straits and need to get away fast it’s not a bad choice for that

  • I think a lot of these spells are a lot better on Spy compared to other classes than they’re ranked because not only can Spy get behind his opponents effortlessly to smack them with a spell, all of these spells allow Spy a measure of self defense against power classes that he could only dream of normally. Even if they don’t do enough to kill, they can disorient opponents enough that they have no hope of catching your escape.

  • Since the 70’s fireball has been a legendary spell because of D&D. Because it has been the go too aoe damage spell, most games that refrence it slightly overpower it as an omage to its legacy, this includes D&D 5th edition btw, but also everything from dark souls (technically the orb is closer) to clash of clans. Fireball is meant to be immensly powerful, and I’m happy tf2 is joining the tradition.

  • The only thing I’d change about this is the monoculous spell. I’d put it above fireball at the very least, for one key reason: it can (and usually does) do just as much as two fireballs in the grand scheme, but you don’t have to aim it practically at all. It is useful even without skill, whereas fireball is only that useful with it.

  • I want to say that invisibility is more around the top of generally useful/bottom of incredibly powerful, because on everyone except medic (and somewhat sniper), it is always very useful to be able to just suddenly appear behind the enemy. As demo it is almost as good as fireball, just because 90% of the time you can set up a sticky trap right under people before they notice you are there. On medic it’s just kind of a get out of jail free card. And then there is engineer. Want to ninjaneer but can’t get past the enemy team? How about you literally just go invisible? I think you kinda forgot about ninjaneering, because that alone gets it out of occasionally helpful

  • Im sure everyone looked up the revelation 8:7 but if you didnt this is the verse: “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the thirdvpart of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.” So roughtly translated its hell on earth

  • Tip: if you wanna do the epic Carnival of Carnage trolling with the meteor shower spell (like at 38:56), use Spy with the cloak and dagger (also equip the l’etranger and spy-cicle). Helps you camp the rare spell’s spawn point without anyone noticing. Once you get the spell, all you need to do is find a spot to hide until Merasmus shouts “INCOMING SPELL!” Then you swiftly uncloak and place the meteor at the enemy’s spawn point. Voila, a wipe is imminent! An optional thing, but if you are a true scumbag (like me), use a duelling minigame on a random person from the enemy team. It nearly guarantees you a duel win.

  • to be fair to fireball, you do have to be a level 5 spellcaster before you can cast it and you have to use one of your 2 level 3 spell slots meaning you have to choose between fireball and other good level 3 spells. also, by level 3, 8d6 fire damage in a 20ft radius is really good but the twice per day drawback along with the rest of your party presumably also being at level 5 means that its not actually OP.

  • Minify is god tier BUT only in very certain situations. You have to be Soldier with a RL with splash damage. And it has to be on a map that has 1. Spells and 2. Portal to underworld where upon leaving you are granted crits ands uber. And I swear there was a time where minify didn’t kill you at the most awkward areas cause you collide with a stick. I’m going to assume all the patches to prevent out of the map glitches broke the end spell growth.

  • To be honest just about every spell is slightly worse on heavy (assuming that you are playing him with a sandwich) because you can’t use them while revved up so if you are mid-fight you can’t shoot them without un-revving, but they are also slightly better on heavy because if you get ambushed you can quickly deploy one so you can have time to escape or rev up

  • One very important thing to note about Minify is that you can use the command “firstperson” in the console to use the spell in first person. This works for every effect that makes you play in third person (like the stretch effect on hell train, or melee only effect on carnival of carnage). You can also, of course, bind the command to a key and press it whenever you use the spell This alone is why I love using Minify when I play scout, because being nearly impossible to hit by non hitscan classes can be immensely useful in any situation. That plus the healing kind of makes it a “no, I’m not losing this fight” spell. Getting it from the uncommon pool can feel like a bummer, since there are way better spells. But getting it from the common list feels amazing. Oh, and you can avoid getting killed by the spell by being in the air when it ends. No duh, but it doesn’t take too much practice to get the timer down, or just simply making note of when you used the spell.

  • Hey, Great Blue! At 22:54, you said “igen”, and i wanted to ask if, by any chance, you are Hungarian? Like “igen” is a hungarian word, what I mean is I don’t want to assume that you’re hungarian, but i just wanna know, because i am curious, and i haven’t met a Hungarian TF2 content creator in a long time. I think you understand what I mean

  • Btw here’s revelation 8:7… 7When the first one blew his trumpet, there came hail and fire mixed with blood, which was hurled down to the earth. A third of the land was burned up, along with a third of the trees and all green grass. 8* When the second angel blew his trumpet, something like a large burning mountain was hurled into the sea.

  • Ball o’ Lightning is insanely broken. Even if you don’t outright kill someone with it (you probably will), it’s probably going to trap them for a while since it’s basically random whether you escape from it or not. It and Monoculus are absurdly good for area denial and keeping people off objectives due to how they linger so long, and there’s basically no counterplay to them other than “don’t exist where they are I guess”. What they lack in raw killing potential they more than make up for in ability to disrupt enemy gamers and slow the gamestate to a crawl simply by existing. Would definitely put them both above Overheal and Minify at least, if not Fireball and maybe even Meteor Shower.

  • Engineer can make amazing use of stealth. It’s still situational, but it’s very good. The best is on payload defense. You can get some sneaky teleporters up and mess with the enemy team, as well as provide flank classes instant access to behind enemy lines. These distractions can be enough to stall their progress and ruin their coordination for pushes.

  • two things about ball o’lightning: it seems to have a fixed lifetime, but if it hits certain surfaces it’ll stick to them and travel alongside them until it expires. notably this does not apply to the payload cart, it just fizzles when it hits it. second, I’m like 90% sure that if you’re stuck in the ball and you airblast the ground, it’ll knock you out of the ball’s hitbox. for some reason. in my experience the airblast hitbox MUST actually touch the ground itself, you can’t just point at the ground while 30ft in the air and expect to get out for free.

  • Video idea: combined weapons. For each class, you can now combine weapons that operate similarly, like sticky bomb launchers or scatter guns. Combined weapons have both the upsides and downsides of the weapons they are composed of. For example a combination of the winger and the pocket pistol would have +15% firing speed and damage, +3 health on hit, and the same jump height bonus the winger has, with the down side being you only have two shots in the clip. Weapons that only have upsides like the demoknight shields wouldn’t be combinable, and weapons that operate in completely different ways like the short circuit and the wrangler would also not be compatible for combination. However, you can combine weapons with cross class alternatives, like the family business and the frontier justice. That effects the shotgun and panic attack, the pistols, and the half zatoichy.

  • Jump blast and invisibility should be one rank higher. Jump blast is a free easy to use mobility, that you can easily use offensive or as escape tool. This jump is so high that basic strafing will prevent you from getting airshotted as long as you use this spell while walking forward (a.k.a how you supposed to use it). Also healing prevents you from taking actual fall damage. Invisibility on any class is really good. You can use it as a really effective escape tool as long as your enemy isn’t pyro. It also gives you ability to flank really deep as classes that because stupidity strong if you do deep flank play as them (like engineer, heavy, sniper)

  • Meteor Shower is definitely the most powerful in terms of raw power and effectiveness. But only when it is well positioned. It’s really bad in open spaces and only classes who are quick and good at positioning are good at it. If it is poorly used, you probably are guaranteed to only kill one player or none all. Scout, soldier and spy examples of classes who are really good with it. Classes like heavy, engineer and sniper are horrible with it.

  • My best uses for blastjump weren’t actually for getting places (I mean, that’s just what it does), but for using it near folks at the edges of falls. I have knocked a few people off cliffs or into hazards using that spell, and at least one time it saved me from a backstab as I was just swapping it out for a better spell.

  • Fun fact about the Lightning spell, for some reason it struggles with solo targeting, so if you try and use the super spell on them they will likely escape This includes if you throw it downwards. Also, the best direction is always below the horizon, i.e. generally downwards at the floor because it does NOT bounce off of floors. The slower the spell is traveling, the harder it is for enemies to escape, the more damage it does and usually will get many kills if you throw it straight down while close to a group of enemies Throwing the Lightning spell directly downwards is the most consistent way to make sure you always hit level geometry and not any objects so it doesn’t disappear and stays the full duration, plus it stays completely still making it very hard to escape. For those trying to escape: Short Circuit can delete this. Yeah it’s dumb but it’s true. If you aren’t running the tool that denies demos from playing the article game, then escaping is essentially like using Smash DI on a combo in Smash Bros. IE, hold your movement key towards the OPPOSITE direction that the ball is traveling in, and hopefully the combined movement of you towards the ball and the ball towards you will let you escape and go straight past it as it leaves your back. If you know how to use Lightning properly, i.e throw it straight down (((OR AGAINST THE NORMAL VECTOR IF ITS ON A SLOPE, IE THROW IT AT THE ANGLE OPPOSITE THE SLOPE IS FACING))) Then lightning becomes a genuinely top tier spell, but only for classes who can get in close to the enemy like spy, demo, soldier, and scout.

  • This just reminded me how I was able to get a kill using the jump spell…. as Sniper. Pretty much: Heavy appears, starts fighting the other Heavy, I see them and use my spell, Try to bodyshot them, miss, land behind them, killed them with the Bushwacka, No Jarate. This is the only time I’ve ever done something useful with that spell. 6 Years of playing mind you.

  • Ball O Lightning is very funny on helltower because the cliff is so big and also I can expect to see some really nice clips of carrying an entire enemy team directly on top of a massive sticky trap you placed as soon as you notice that you’ve noticed you’ve got ball o lightning. Still not as much of a free win as anything in powerful, so the placement is accurate.

  • Personally I think you’re underselling knocking people off the map in bumper cars. 1. It leads to less enemies contesting the objective, which is really useful in collecting the ducks and soccer match. 2. It’s actually kind of difficult to respawn once knocked off because everyone is moving around super fast and focused on the objective while you move as a super slow ghost. It’s very rare to find anyone willing to stop so you need to basically try to anticipate where a team mate is heading and have them run into you. Worse yet, it’s possible to get knocked around by an enemy as a ghost which could end up preventing you from touching a team mate entirely. 3. The more enemies are knocked off, the difficulty of respawning becomes exponentially worse while the ease of your team getting points becomes exponentially higher.

  • JUST SO YOU KNOW! Revelation 8:7 in the Bible is “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and afire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.” I looked it up so any diehard Christians who know the Bible a bit better feel free to correct me on that if I’m wrong.

  • I would argue one niche and janky use that makes Skeletons Horde very useful, capping on Helltower. Skeletons have the ability to enter the opposite team’s spawn, so if you throw it by the door and start capping, they will pester the enemy team for 30 seconds while keeping them in spawn. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t kill them again, all you need is the time to cap. Skeletons Horde is the only reason I was able to get the achievement Helltower Competitive Spirit in a reasonable amount of time. While Monoculus and Meteor Shower can kill more people and are nice for area denial, they won’t last the entire capping time like Skeletons Horde can.

  • 31:03 minify kills you on end if your normal size bounding box you return to intersects basically anything. It definitely holds the spell back a ton. minify is fun but yeah not useful on most people. Soldier and demo are really the distinctly good ones with it since they don’t need that aim as bad like mentioned also aren’t totally shut down by sentries sending them to mars. I would’ve swapped lightning and minify tbh. Minify is really only particularly useful/powerful on classes that can use its offense to spam down (like mentioned) and for others it’s kind of just subpar mobility at the risk of dying instantly. Lightning is inconsistent but can be excellent to follow up with your team or group foes into a spot to splash damage, or to sweep an area for clearanc, and any class can provide this as lightning is a weapon whereas minify is an attribute boost and therefore more impacted by what class you get it on.

  • i gotta strong disagree on stealth being useless on sniper. its essentially equivalent to the spy in that you get one completely free kill because nobodys gonna be scorch spamming you or getting you to flinch. obviously if you are a great sniper you can probably do this anyway but just guarantees it. but most importantly, its just a free win for any sniper duel lol (also im surprised you didnt mention the fact that it makes you invisible to sentrys, its HUGE)

  • As an experienced spell main, I got a few things to add – Jump is as disposable as you put it. Accurate af. – Stealth can be used to easily get into the “get free rare spells and crits” portals in maps like Slasher as it allows you to sneakily get away or flank someone when they least expect it. Stealth can also be combined when getting out of said portals to be invisible while you have crits or a super powerful rare spell. – Ball o Lightning is RNG hell. Good luck. – Summon Monoculus isnt just great for area denial, but an incredible sentry/nest buster. If you summon it on a sentry nest, it´ll easily destroy the engineer and its buildings unlike meteor storm which only does 1-2 damage to buildings. Be careful on using it sometimes though as it can collide with walls and not get used, which is stupid. – Meteor Storm is busted, yeah. Funny to spam the shit out of it when you have access to free spells at anytime and make the enemy team mad. Great article!

  • out of curiosity, if anybody’s still in this comment section, what does everyone know each spell as? For obvious reasons, i will first refer to them by the same name on the wiki. “Shadow Leap” is just teleport. “Fireball” is fireball “Blast Jump” is leap. “Overheal” is the pocket medic spell. “Swarm of bats” is the bat ball. “Pumpkin MIRV” is the bomb spell. “Stealth” is the cloak spell. “MONOCULUS” is monoculus “Skeletons Horde” is just skeletons. “Ball O’ Lightning” is The Orb. “Meteor Shower” is Hellfire. And i don’t refer to “Minify.” I just make gremlin sounds.

  • little advice, your commentary tends to drag out for a looooong time. try cutting your script down a little bit and kind of consolidate different bits of information that can be conveyed in one or two sentences; i especially noticed it when you talked about the stealth spell. you already convinced me it’s good on spy, you don’t need to go into so much detail! keep that in mind and im sure you’ll be able to grow your website in no time!

  • My opinion of the spells: Blast Jump (or how i call it “double jump”): i only use it to heal myself or get a better spell Stealth: i use this when i want to troll or escape from an unfair fight Pumpkin M.I.R.V: i sometimes get surpriced that i even managed to kill someone, but most of the time i just throw it somewhere, not even caring if it’s going to kill someone or not Fireball: one of my favourites, what else can i say? Bat Swarm: i like this one, it’s funny to use in a big group of people Shadow Leap: i hate this one Overheal: i love this spell, specially when i’m escaping or getting into a fight, just an awesome spell Minify: i don’t really like it but it can be helpful sometimes Ball O’ Lightning (or Tesla Ball): i really like it but i feel it’s more like an annoying spell more than anything, plus it’s weak Meteor Shower: i LOVE and i mean LOVE this spell so much Skeletons Horde: i wish this spell could spawn more, i really like seeing in the killfeed my skeletons, but it’s pretty weak ngl Summon Monoculus: this is op as fuck and i love it, specially on choke points Bomb Head: can be really good but not always you can hit someone Boxing Rocket: it’s satisfying to hit someone B.A.S.E Jump: thank you for saving me from the cold hands of death Overheal: why you exist? So yeah, i really like making this personal opinion

  • Here’s how to make 2 of Halloween’s most annoying mechanics — skeletons and truces — and make them at least slightly more fun: Make the map with your regular Halloween spell books and pumpkin bombs, set up a system where every 3 minutes the truce starts and a massive amount of skeletons come from a door or something like that, and whichever team kills the most will get a point. First team to 3 wins.

  • What wait no minify is best on heavy.. He can’t jump true, but the 2x fire rate minigun DESTROYS everything. Every other class is too busy reloading to get out dps like that. Plus youre tiny and fast asf while revved so it basically takes away all downsides to using a minigun and gives it 2x fire rate

  • Late to the party but it’s the tail end of another Scream Fortress so I think it’s okay. Personally, I find Meteor Shower to be meh, since I’ve rarely seen it get more than 3 kills even when hurled onto an objective. I’d also like to argue that Tesla Coil is obscenely strong, especially on more open maps. The area it can suck people in is pretty huge, and there is no escape if you spend some time learning where you can shoot it to not collide. I find Stealth to be huge on every class, especially Pyro. Think of what happens when a good Pyro gets an ambush on you. That can happen anywhere now. On the other side, I’d argue for Pumpkin MIRV and Iron Heart to be moved down. Iron Heart is good, but I usually feel that the times when I actually want to use it are as Heavy, and since you can’t cast spells while revved up it feels weaker. As for Pumpkin MIRV, the only class I’ve gotten any reliable mileage with it is on Demoman, just treating them as more bombs. On everything else I just throw it randomly since it keeps me from picking up a new spell The only other spell I disagree with is Ball of Bats but that’s just because I suck with it.

  • Small pro tip: You can use console command `firstperson` to get rid of any third person mode except for taunts (and forced taunts) Unlike its brother `thirdperson`, it IS available at any time, even without `sv_cheats 1`, even on Valve’s servers edit: i do not remember exactly (because i do not play carnival) but afaik `firstperson` does not work in carts

  • Huge info for Minify, Command “firstperson” in console when using minify gives you, well… first person which solves problem with aiming, Congratulations now you make Minify almost best spell and about that dying evertime it ends, I never actually had a problem with it, most of the time you wanna jump anyways

  • Minify actually only heals a flat 100 HP. It’s limiting on strength – and feels moreso like an escape tool. Not bieng able to aim properly is a downside. Another downside, is the fact that you’ll die if you are in a slope as you describe. And even then, some maps still have the incorrect clipping determination to kill the player. And they ban Shadow Leap… riiiight. I tend to use Ball O’ Lightning by firing it into the ground on a group. Then they can’t escape it. Jump fast enough and can just jump out. I did kinda expect meteor to be on the top… really, the damage starts fast, and is straight up area denial. It’s easy to use. My favorite spell for how simple it is just looks… fun!

  • Overheal: A Powerful Stop dying spell while arcane does yield to some healing usually its more a rare sight then a common appliance but its nice to see that when it does come up cause Wizards dont get many a spell. Minify: I heard of enlarge before but usually doing the opposite and shrinking yourself is detrimental but I guess paired with all the haste effects it can make you a really powerful and fast fly sized foe just be weary about the spontaneous death with the Jank of it. Stealth: Classic go invisible spell not much to say but for the sneaky types its an absolute must. Shadow Leap = Minecraft ender pearl w/ healing I always found such pearls are best to be over shot then undershot unless your throwing to a small platform really this one is only as good as you are creative, and also if your good at throwing a arching ball that also helps… Fireball: (Insert D&D Wizard Joke Here) but yha fireball was always known to be a very consistent powerful damage dealer in fantasy to the point its become a meme in alot of fantasy games like D&D where its a Evocation Wizards classic choice for pretty much any threat or problem for a damn good reason. Though the meme comes in when said wizard keeps looking for a reason to use it for situations where maybe that’s not the best idea… Ball o’ Lightning: Ironically that’s pretty accurate for Lightning in general as Lightning as a type can do WAY more damage then other elemental types but the catch 22 is the damage range is all over the place you could be hitting with a power far greater then many a spell or attack but other times it hits weak and you would have been better off just attacking them normally its certainly a gamblers type to be sure.

  • Minify is broken on maps u can quickly farm rare spells, u basically pop it and then go again and again into portal and just spam rare spells. its bat sht INSANE, it can carry Hightower or some other community maps. so it deserves S rank for scout since you can so easily farm rare spells and just spam enemy

  • L + ratio + no Intel + phlog user + bot host + Zealot + you kill friendlies + touch control point + maggot + drunk + capped on 2fort + high ping + numbnuts + fat bald fatty fat, fat fat + L part 2 + spy main + scunt + engineer gaming + you play overwatch (if you can name all the references I will genuinely give you a shout-out in a article)

  • with the tesla coil, something i found useful in my travels is that if you aim down when firing it, there’s a very high chance it just sticks to the floor. this means that a class like scout can run into a cluster of people, fire the tesla coil at his feet and now all of them are stuck in place and slightly visually impared, meaning a class like heavy or demo (or your entire team) can just mow into everyone in the ball ontop of the damage the coil itself is doing. it’s pretty fun on koth maps.

  • Pumpkin mirv is not very good on pure demoknight because without a grenade launcher, you have to rely on your teammates or killing yourself by meleeing the pumpkin bombs to detonate them. Meteor shower, fireball, ball of bats, and ball o’ lightning have one real weakness. Sentries and other buildings only take one damage per hit.

  • i would put monoculus, ball lightning, fire ball then uber in that order in that tier. both monoculus and ball lightning are automatic once cast and you can go back to your normal play. unlike fire ball you need to choose your normal play or cast it. sure ball lightning doesnt do that much damage, but again automatic. even if the effect is alittle buggy, you can still go back to your nomal play and most likely finish most kills that was effected by those 2. especally soldier/demo/pyro against targets effected by ball lightning as for minify i find its not that powerful 90% of the time. only amazing as soldier or demo, and only sometime as pyro (mostly map dependant), also cause its got its issues too. i’d put skelly horde 1 tier higher, maybe at the lower end of that tier, mostly for the same reason as ball lightning and monoculus. automatic and can resume play, but mostly as a distraction and an annoyance, but still pretty helpful, also they do tend to cause more skellies to spawn apon death. as for meteor shower, yes. i will quite often go back to the guarantee rare book spawn to try and find that one specifically, if not, my next go to is monoculus, ball lightning, minify (usually just to go back to the book spawn faster) and then skelly

  • Great analysis. I actually kind of hate minify! I’m not sure I’ve had it as soldier (that does sound great), but on scout and pyro it’s just never that powerful and I’m always worried I’ll die at the end so I waste the last ten seconds hanging in the air to make sure I’m not clipping anything. I’ll take ball lightning over minify any day.

  • 32:30 that one zappy ball that casually sucks in any unfortunate soul that comes in a 5 meters radius with no chance of them escaping alive: i think you’re forgetting someone… my guess that this thing will be the top tier spell. This or the fireball storm thing. Or the eyeball but i would consider it more annoying than powerful

  • full revelation 8: 1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. 6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. 7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and afire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. 8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

  • I disagree that overheal is worse than fireball, let’s say that you’re being pushed and your team is very close to winning, or even not losing at all. Immediately when you use overheal you’ve already won as there is no way everyone in your team cannot aim. And also it completely negates fire ball because those first few seconds of Uber can just stop the fireball’s damage entirely. And, even if you don’t time the Uber, no one is dying because the overheal overpowers the base damage and after-burn.

  • id have noted that the blast jump can be negative since, if oyu dont pay attention, you can use it and trigger a pumpin bomb thats next to or infront of you. i believe that happened to you in the last clip. the invis spell also gives you a nice cond to play around with with sv_cheats on, for example in tr_walkway servers. the pumpkin bombs sadly take wayy too long to deploy and usually the enemy already killed you when theyre ready the bats are certainly a fight starter because it practically stuns and deals a shit ton of damage (bleed stacks) to all targets and you can practically just finish em off. the health aura spell is kinda annoying to use. if you use it against a heavy dmg class like a soldier who can twoshot you, you can use the spell, have it get used up, yet not receive uber or health and still die because it uses up before it gives out results. so basically wasted with no effect absolutely hate the minify spell because i seriously cannot aim for shit in 3rd person, im better off charging t my enemies with my melee out or juts going pyro… id also note that literally every kill you get with it is replaced with the spell ico even though that doesnt actually kill anyone, also does not register pumpkin bomb kills as those which sucks when youre grinding the contracts i just noticed that the ball o lightning icon loos like a swastika but now i cant unsee it. when i have tesla coil i tend to use it against a lot of enemies as in on a payload cart or point, if you shoot the ball a little, best served with explosives, or even if you dont do anything its guaranteed to kill at least half and clear out the objective, you cant escape it witgout spamming doubljump or blast jump and i pull off big plays w it 9 times out of ten.

  • I feel like Shadow Leap would be more useful to get OUT of combat than to get IN to combat. The projectile is quite slow and arcs, so theoretically you can toss it straight up into the air, over-extend to your hearts desire, and then be teleported straight out of the fight when the projectile lands. Obviously still not useful on High Tower since there is no front-line, but on chokepoint heavy maps I could see its potential as a preemptive get-out-of-jail free card.

  • For ball o’ lightning, engi might get an even better use out of it than most classes, even if it is slight as it’s only one thing I can think of, which is getting an enemy – or even the entire enemy team – away from your sentry. Pesky Scout trying to get your sentry? Fling ’em away with your magic balls.

  • The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

  • The Bats are also useful when playing medic or spy if you need a quick escape. When used by pyro, you can get bleed and after burn at the same time, unlike fireball. Oftentimes, the fall damage of bats helps make up some additional damage. Also arcd projecitles can sometimes hit where straight ones cant . So yes, it’s worse than fireball, but not that much worse.

  • The one thing I think you missed with Skeletons Horde: Yes they can be easily killed by Heavies or Sentries or explosives, but it takes a decent amount of time to do so for the enemy. You have to kill the skeletons, wait for them to split into smaller ones (which is a fairly long animation), and then kill those. If you get lucky you can get all three big skeletons in one explosion, but if that doesn’t happen or you’re not using explosives at all, killing skeletons is easy but time consuming. And all that time killing skeletons is time they aren’t paying attention to the enemy gamers. This is especially true for sentries. You can basically throw this ahead of a sentry and then walk past it no problem since it’ll be too busy dealing with the bone bois to care about you.

  • One time on hassle castle blu was pushing the kart outside of the tunnel to second point, at least 5 people on the kart and as soon as they are outside the tunnel I hit ’em with the meteor shower and kills all of them a solid chunk of their team line up on the hud was just gone in an instance. Love Scream fortress :3

  • I’ve realized that the reason I like this website so much compared to other tftubers is that the style and concept of the articles really feels like someone who likes tf2 talking about tf2 because they want to. A lot of other big creators give off the vibe that they’re just doing it because they have to

  • I’d have put 2 other things about fireball (12:55) that make it A tier. 1: You suffer no self-damage, unlike a lot of other spells. This is what makes it a great defensive tool cause you don’t need to worry about hitting yourself like rockets or grenades would. 2: There is no firing cooldown, meaning you can combine the fireball with another attack both at once, to do pretty much a oneshot to any class. This is why IMO I’d say fireball actually pairs BEST with soldier, because I get to press M1 and my “use spell” button at the same instance, which sends a devastating combined attack (working even better because fireball has roughly the same speed as a rocket) towards whoever was unfortunate enough to be targeted. @Great Blue

  • 21:00, one of the best uses i had with the teleport spell is to throw it upwards on the magic door island that gives you speed, health and a rare spell, you go throu the door and get a rare spell but get teleportet back quick and can defend the island with the obtained spell Also imagine the amputator draining 15% uber to activate the healing spell…

  • The number car spells are on one other map. I forget what it’s called, but it’s the payload mad where your escorting a bottle to a potion cauldron, then have to race up a haunted house to win. But none of the spells are very useful there, as it’s already pretty hard to stay on the track without getting hit
