Adderall is a brand-name prescription medication approved by the FDA to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. Common side effects include loss of appetite, stomachache, dizziness, and nervousness. However, serious side effects have been reported but are rare. Long-term effects of Adderall include loss of appetite, weight loss, dry mouth, stomach upset/pain, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, fever, nervousness, and trouble sleeping.
Adderall can raise blood pressure and heart rate, causing breathing harder and potentially putting your heart and health at risk. It can also boost alertness, wakefulness, and concentration by increasing dopamine production in the brain. However, there are some tips to reduce the side effects of ADHD medications.
Dizziness is a common side effect of Adderall, as it can raise blood pressure and heart rate, putting your heart and health at risk. To reduce these side effects, it is important to discuss with your doctor and be aware of the risk of misuse and dependence.
Adderall may cause some people to feel a false sense of well-being or become dizzy, lightheaded, or less alert than they are normally. It may also cause chest pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or fainting. Dizziness can be a sign of taking too much medication, and dry mouth can be caused by drinking plenty of fluids and using lozenges.
Adderall can also cause increased anxiety, trouble sleeping or staying asleep, changes in bowel movements, headache, dizziness, and decreased libido. Adverse reactions have included dizziness, lack of energy (asthenia), urinary tract infections, irregular heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, abdominal pain, blurred vision, nervousness or restlessness, headache, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and dry mouth appetite loss.

How to know if ADHD medication is too high?
The text discusses the potential side effects of ADHD medication, including irritability, personality changes, and difficulty with focus at homework time. Irritability may indicate a high dose or the medication may not be suitable for the child. Personality changes may also occur, suggesting a potential dose issue or a potential unsuitable medication. Homework difficulties may also be a concern, suggesting a need for a small “booster dose” to extend coverage. It is crucial to monitor the child’s behavior and adjust the medication accordingly.
Do people with ADHD get dizzy easily?
An ADHDer can experience symptoms like headaches, dizziness, nausea, increased anxiety, irritability, sleep issues, emotional outbursts, difficulty focusing, restlessness, and panic attacks due to their intense stimulus exposure. To avoid these effects, they may develop workarounds, such as avoiding certain places, withdrawing from social situations, having strong preferences for certain clothing materials, eating the same type of food, and being picky with their food choices. These behaviors help them manage their symptoms and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Why is my Adderall making me dizzy?
Dizziness, dry mouth, headaches, loss of appetite, moodiness, nausea, tics, trouble sleeping, and trouble sleeping are all common side effects of ADHD medications. Diazziness can indicate overuse of medication, so consult your doctor for advice. Dry mouth can be caused by dehydration or an empty stomach, while headaches may occur after medication wears off.
Loss of appetite can result from medication, but it’s important to avoid skipping meals to maintain blood sugar levels and focus. Eat several small meals daily and avoid eating dinner later in the evening. Weight loss may also occur due to decreased appetite.
Moodiness can be a side effect of ADHD medications, but it may fade over time. If moodiness persists, consult your doctor about adjusting the dose or changing the medication. Nausea can be reduced by taking the medication with food, especially if you’re not a breakfast person. Tics, repeated movements or sounds, can sometimes return from ADHD medications, but they usually fade over time.
Trouble sleeping can be caused by some ADHD medications, so take them earlier in the day and try short-acting stimulants. Limit caffeine intake and turn off devices an hour before bed to relax.
In conclusion, finding the right medication for ADHD is a complex process, and it may take several attempts to find the right one for you. Factors such as high blood pressure, heart problems, or a history of mental health issues or addiction should also be considered when choosing a medication.

Long-term use can lead to physical and psychological dependence, and inappropriate use can cause serious side effects.
What is the biggest side effect of Adderall?

Long-term or chronic misuse may increase the risk. Adderall can also cause Raynaud’s phenomenon, a vascular condition causing numbness, cold, and blueness in the fingertips, toes, nose, and ears. Why do I feel weird on Adderall?
Adderall, a medication used by college students and others to stay awake and focus on work or study, overstimulates the brain’s normal levels of dopamine and norepinephrine, leading to side effects like jitteriness, loss of appetite, and insomnia. Research has shown that using stimulants like Adderall can make participants take longer to complete mental tasks and may not provide the expected benefits.
It is recommended to consult a doctor before taking Adderall on school days to reduce side effects. For adults with ADHD, a daily dose of 20 milligrams is recommended, with ten milligrams for children aged 6-17 and 20 milligrams for adults aged 18 and above.
What does overmedicated feel like?
Identifying warning signs of overmedication can help determine if your loved one is overmedicated. These signs include drowsiness, physical complications, confusion, withdrawal from family or friends, hallucinations, dizziness or falls, fractures, and seizures. If your loved one experiences these warning signs or sudden changes in behavior, notify a doctor immediately. If your loved one takes four or more medications and has not had them reassessed by the primary care doctor within the past year, it is crucial to do so.
Be proactive when discussing medications with your doctor, asking if they still need to be taking each drug and why. Consider lifestyle changes, such as modifying diet or exercising more, to reduce medication use. Research potential drug-drug interactions online, such as healthline. com and medscape. com, to learn more about potential interactions.
If a new medicine is taken on top of two or more and there are new side effects, tell the doctor immediately. Some drugs build up in the body, increasing their potency, while others lose their effectiveness over time, causing previously treated symptoms to resurface. Use only one pharmacy and pharmacist, and ensure the pharmacist knows what is being taken, including herbs prescribed elsewhere.
Comfort Keepers® can help by providing quality in-home care with caregivers who can help monitor the right type, timing, and dosage of medications to keep loved ones safe and healthy.

ADHD person here, I was suffering hardcore. My room looked like it would violate many health codes and I just never cared enough for proper hygiene, plus I always struggled to say stuff without messing up my words. I was offered Adderall one day and for the first time in my whole life I felt normal, I could actually get things done and I never felt so accomplished. Now I’m officially prescribed for them and my life is going well.
Adderall knocked me out right away! I felt sooo tired. After an hour nap, i woke up refreshed, anxiety free, relaxed, and able to have a normal paced conversation and i didnt blurt/but in 5000 times!! So that was interesting. I kind of felt like I was put on hyper slow mode, but i matched up with other people, and was able to follow conversations better.
Loved the Adderall for my ADHD symptoms . Was taking 15 mg XR but started to develop symptoms of high blood pressure and my blood pressures were hovering in the 94/95 in the diastolic number (bottom number). Didn’t take it today and my diastolic pressures are in the low 70’s. Such a bummer 🙁 No wonder I felt like my chest was being squeezed
Adderall are amazing. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder years ago as a teenage. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Spent my whole life fighting cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.
Adderall and methamphetamine are not the same drug, but if you take enough Adderall, you will definitely feel high. It’s not the same as meth, but the feeling is similar. I started with 5 mg instant release, and over time, the dosage was increased to 30 mg XR. Eventually, I began taking two pills at a time, then progressed to three, and eventually, I developed a serious meth problem that lasted for a few years. However, I am now sober. I’m not saying this will happen to everyone, but it could happen to you. Adderall is a very powerful stimulant with a high potential for abuse. If you have an addictive personality, be very careful, and be honest with yourself and your doctor.
My husband is addicted to Adderall. He does NOT have adhd. He runs out in two weeks, then gets stimulant pills off the streets until he can refill. His anger and rage is insane. He becomes extremely verbally and emotionally abusive. I’ve tried to get him to get clean for almost a decade. Now I’m just scared he’s going to die. He’s 46. 😢
I’ve been taking it for years and it REALLY helps… its very obvious when it starts to take effect and really helps me to live my life. But… I get ALL of the side effects, in spades. The worst side effects that weren’t even mentioned in this article are it’s affect on your vision… it can give you blurry vision, double vision, etc… which can then lead to headaches, etc… The blurry vision is really annoying because, I suddenly have the focus to get stuff done but… I’m having trouble seeing well enough to actually do it. lol
I was diagnosed with ADHD. My doctor started me on 5mg a day and it did nothing, made me less focused. She upped me to 10mg a day, now I can’t form a coherent thought and am getting jittery. It’s frustrating to see everyone else say it works right away, while I’ve been screwing around for over a month and things have only gotten worse.
I was prescribed it for adult ADHD and accidentally lost 20 lbs because it helped control my appetite and focus on my workouts lol. Theres almost no downside, I got promoted at work, helped with my marriage, and improved almost every aspect of my life. I just wish I would have known I had ADHD sooner than my 30’s.
Initially u may deal with headaches if u dont take it with a high protein meal…n the dry mouth is annoying…but after a couple weeks ur body adjusts to it u may find problems with insomina if u dont take it early in the morning…also the worse thing is u will feel pretty horny n will start looking at p0rn a lot n that can totally destroy ur concentration on studying/working if ur the impulsive ADD type. For me its not addictive…I actually wish I didnt need to take it to help me to overcome my ADD n reading disorder so I can focus n study for exams. As soon as Im done with studying, I stop taking adderall.
I seem to be very sensitive to stimulants. I started taking adderall 10mg XR once a day in the morning. It calmed my mind and helped me with focus and motivation/organization. And helped prevent me from getting overwhelmed and less emotional dysregulation. However…. i found I was not getting good sleeps at night and i had a lot of heart pain and chest pressure. It also really heightened my anxiety due to lack of sleep. I nearly had a panic attack. I stopped taking it for 3 days then i took it again today and felt good. So maybe my dose is too high or i should take breaks some days?
So when I take it, I feel fine but it makes me sleepy a little bit, however now that I can focus I find myself getting sensitive to noises and smells, it’s like now that I can concentrate so much better and I’m not in my head so much I’m experiencing autism like symptoms. Before when I would get overstimulated I would just get really frustrated but now I start to get anxious and feel the need to cover my ears and escape the situation because loud noises can cause me to become overwhelmed. I am here now because I wanted to see if I should go get tested for autism, I had wanted to see if that was a normal response to the medication.
Eh, I live with an American who’s addicted to adderall and smoking weed, and seems to do some weird stuff. 1) For starts, he works out in the garden, and even though there’s a heatwave outside, he has a clothes heater on to dry his t-shirts. Another house mate asked him about it, and he said he’s worried about germs, so throughout his workout he goes to the bathroom and changes into a dry t-shirt — hanging the sweaty one up in the dryer (so even though he’s afraid of germs, it remains unwashed, and he’s likely to wear it again). 2). His general attitude towards dirt and germs is strange, if not a little deranged at times; visible dirt is ok, but invisible germs are a source of alarm and anxiety. (3 good dirt), When I moved in, I thought we could do with updating a few old kitchen utensils. A chopping board and an oven glove were (and still are) both covered in mold, so I suggested throwing them out for some new ones. I said ‘they’re covered in mold’, he said ‘but thats the good kind of mold.’ So they’ve since stayed, together in unison with piles of used nicotine chewing gums and hydration drink bottles which collect together until one or another house mate has the gumption to clean up, which he then considers ‘dis-organized.’ So the list goes on in terms of hoarding and hypochondria, I just wonder if it would all pass if he decided to quit.
Hi all, I have been using Amoxetine 18mg for about 10 days and I am starting to get excited as I am noticing MAJOR differences to little things such as closing a cabinet door, clear and concise conversations. But I am a male and there is a major issue I am dealing with, painful urination, it is so bad. Has anyone had this and did it eventually subside, I am so worried about the pain not going away but amazed I went through life without taking anything to get my head straight. Thank you in advance.
Okay. So I have type 2 narcolepsy. I’ve started taking adderall prescribed to me by a doctor once I took a sleep study and have already after 6 days of being on it I’ve noticed slight negative changes. These include being way more irritable and not nearly as hungry like I usually am. I’ll talk to my doctor about it in a month once my system is cleared from any THC they found in it last time. I haven’t noticed any positive changes yet but do know everyone different and can feel the full effect at different times depending on the person. I just want to know someone else thoughts on my matter.
I tried Adderall 1 time last week . It was my very first time. I was prescribed Adderall XR 20 mg. I was ok for a bit but later on I was so messed up. I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I just stayed up. I tried so hard to sleep with no luck. The next day I felt like CRAP! I had a headache, I felt nauseous, and I felt weak and dehydrated. It felt like a horrible hang over. I ended up not sleeping for 38 1/2 hours. I will NEVER take this med again. I’m not sure what happened but I will not turn to that med again. If anyone has a clue why it did that to me please let me know.
IT WAS ADVISED FOR ME TO NOT B ON ADDERALL IN COLLEGE CAUSE I KNOW I HAD SOME FORM OF ADHD. SOOO I GOT MOST OF MY FREE SUPPLIES FROM A GIRL IN MY SORORITY THAT WAS PERSCRIBED IT. IT WORKED FOR AWHILE WITH MY ANTIDEPPRESSANT. THEN I CHANGED AND MY DIAGNOSIS WAS NOLONGER MAJOR DEPRESSION IT WAS THE UNSTABLE DIAGNOSIS OF BIPOLAR DISORDER WITH FULL BLWN MANIA.
One side effect not mentioned is depression! Adderall(Amphetamine)releases chemically dopamine, once that happens, your brain chemistry is not going to be the same anymore, or takes time to recover depending on dosage and length of usage. Addiction is nearly impossible to overcome if used frequently. It is very similar to a cocaine addiction. Be aware there is never an effect without a side effect. Mood swings and depression are highly common!
i love adderall so much, all it does is make me a genius and good at my job, i hate that i cant just take it, ironically i do have narcolepsy with cataplexy but i take providgil which works better for my condition but adderall just literally makes me the best art director ever. when i was prescribed adderall in college for my narcolepsy there was a major issue of tolerance, after only 1 week the 15 mgs seemed to no longer work and i couldnt get a new assessment done for new meds until my 30 day script was finished and it was vital i switched it to providgil immediately, but i do miss the incredible focus i had when i was using adderall.
I’m just hungry, but my Vvyance is like… nope! I’m just chill. I don’t get why would somebody could get “high” off this. I need breaks on the weekends. That’s why I take propranolol the help lower my heart rate I like your cutaways, it’s just a little awkward. You can make them a little longer for full context, and then you can return to your talking points.
Adderall is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to my life! Greater than a Bible, greater than my business, greater than any academic accomplishment. Adderall cured my narcissism and inspired me to call the people I’ve hurt in the past and apologize. In fact none of the things I achieved would have been possible without Adderall because I’m naturally lazy. The only side effect is tunnel vision and the lack of sex drive which is why I now have sex in my tunnel. GEAUX ADDERALL GEAUX!
It really upsets me that these doctors and other people keep saying this garbage about drug abuse. Everytime I saw a doctor or talked to someone about adhd I got this response and it made me turn away from care. If someone is abusing the drug, then you can handle that, but telling everyone and scaring those who need this treatment away is not right. Doctors are not law enforcement, your their to help people with problems. I would also recommend anyone thinking you have this problem go straight o a psychiatrist and psychologist, because a DO or Priamry care doctor don’t know what they are talking about and will likely, like this doctor, focus priamripy on scaring you away with drug abuse talk, and everything else. What should occur, “let’s try to figure out why you think you need adderall” or “let’s try to figure out why your so fatigue. I’ll order a psychological evaluation” don’t say stuff like “they’ll know if you fake the test” or “I had adhd my whole life and it’s not something to abuse drugs for” if someone recognizes they have adhd don’t dismiss it. 20 years of trouble in my life and it could have been prevented without all this bull shit.
Make sure that the comments under this article aren’t false testimonials aimed at selling drugs that are not made for you, or simply true testimonials that are dangerously misleading in context because their authors have no sense at all of the statistical value of their extremely personal experience compared to the general effect on the majority of the human beings. They do NOT know you, therefore they cannot possibly know what you need. Having empathy for someone has nothing to do with being affected by identical conditions requiring the exact same treatment, if ever, especially if we take into account the very many overlaps between apparent symptoms whose causes may be completely different. Only A DOCTOR who has studied the subject in depth for many years can tell you, without too much risk, what you in particular need and what you don’t need in case of rare disorder or condition. And if your television is still broadcasting f… ads for any kind of medicine, destroy it before it destroys you. Catchy music is NOT a diagnostic.
I was on reddlin as a kid then they swapped me to Adderall when it became the norm. I started refusing it and went on with life never taking it again. My adult life in my 30s I have seriously bad problems self medicating and I am just so low and blah. My friend gave me a few Adderalls and I was hyper focused and doing things I wouldn’t normally do and just on one for completing tasks I would normally shy away from. I feel like I need to get on it as an adult but have no insurance and don’t really know what to do. Any tips?
Wow dude as someone who has it im seeing a lot of false claims of people actually having it. Its became a cute way for others to get high when they are lazy or addicts. Maybe i shouldnt take the pills 😳. I can force myself through i just dont remember or get burned out on using only will power. I used to work 14 hr days sober, was a seafood processor. Some of you really dont have adhd
I have been in adderall XR for a few months. My body seemed to metabolize the medicine quickly within a week. Then I’m up in my dosage again, then I’m taking it twice a day because of how fast I metabolize it, I’m up to 30 mg a day 25 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon and same as before, now I just feel like a sleepy zombie and I have no drive, focus or energy. :/
Stimuent can cause depression depend on person. My doctor have been prescribed very minimum dose of stimulent for ADHD symptom. Fix the symptom and achieve with your own desire. That what my doctor told me when i use to visit clinic. i’m still feel active and be well without it. I feel love for my doctor. She was awesome 👍
FYI: Adderall and Ritalin are over the counter in Mexico; same with Cialis and Viagra. A lot of these medications are over the counter in many if not most countries in the world. It has to do more with medical profits and making sure your doctor’s appointment calendar is booked 6 weeks in advance than safety. Sure, there are always some risks, but the US is the only country I have been to that you need a prescription for many of these medications, and people aren’t dying from Viagra overdoses every day in the rest of the world.
I was 48 years old when diagnosed with add – changed my life. Going on the 6th or 7th year of taking it I started to have night cramping in my legs…inner thigh (both) OMG the pain. I went off Adderall for a year and the cramps went away. I never see this as a side effect – wondering if anyone else has? I have since gone back on – lower dosage and only once a day and the leg cramps have returned – only much more mild – I am assuming since the dosage and frequency is less. Would love to know if anyone has experienced this. TY I would like to add that Adderall is a tool. YOU have to do the work. It allows you to stay on task ONLY if you MAKE yourself stay on task. Finishing the dishes without starting 10 other things LOL…closing those cabinet doors, finishing a project of any kind. Adderall HELPS as long as you do the work. It won’t solve your of your issues – it helps you find ways to solve them.
I have mild to moderate ADHD I don’t take adderall for fun or recreation. I wish there’s more articles for people that DO have ADHD and their use with adderall. Anyways maybe I need to fix my dosing because it has given me insomnia and difficulty staying asleep which absolutely wrecked my sleep pattern. I know I could perform way better or just function better with 8 hours of sleep and on adderall. At first it wasn’t a problem and I got a job where I work in the afternoons and get home around 11PM and maybe that screwed it all up. When I’m off adderall my mind is not all great. I wish there is a way where I could fix the brain permanently without using this
