Is Teva Adderall Available At Rite Aid?

Rite Aid has recently switched to Mallinckrodt and their octagonal white pills, which are more efficient and cost-effective than their original versions. To save money on your Adderall® Tablets (CII) prescription, consider switching to Teva’s FDA-approved generic version, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Amphetamine Aspartate.

Adderall is the most well-known ADHD medication, which uses amphetamine salts as its active ingredient. However, methylphenidate-based stimulants are not available from Rite Aid. Customers have reported receiving other brands from CVS or Rite Aid, but they have learned to always go with TEVA.

Teva and Epic are the most popular brands for treating ADHD. Giant Pharmacy carries Epic, while Walgreens is Teva. Walmart is Malinkroft, and Rite Aide is Aurobindo. It is important to note that Teva and Epic are the same brand, but the pills received from Rite Aid may have different suppliers and/or manufacturers.

Adderall is not available over-the-counter and requires a prescription from a doctor. Generic drug availability, manufacturer information, and patent status on Adderall are essential for understanding the benefits and risks associated with these medications. It is crucial to consult with a pharmacist at a Rite Aid pharmacy to ensure they have the correct information on the medication and its potential side effects and interactions.

Is Teva Adderall still available?

The FDA first acknowledged a shortage of Adderall, a medication used for ADHD, in October 2022. However, Teva Pharmaceuticals has stabilized its Adderall supply, with all products available except for the 5-mg generic version, which is expected to be restocked by June. Several generic drug manufacturers, including Sandoz, Alvogen, Lannett, Sunrise Pharmaceutical, US Pharma Windlas, Epic Pharma, and Elite Laboratories, have their products in stock.

However, three other manufacturers are experiencing shortages due to a lack of an active ingredient. Despite these improvements, many patients still struggle to fill their prescriptions, with pharmacies frequently facing back orders. Vyvanse, another commonly prescribed ADHD medication, has also been experiencing supply issues since June last year. Currently, Takeda, the brand name manufacturer of Vyvanse, remains the sole supplier, while ten approved generic manufacturers are either out of stock or in limited supply due to shortages of active ingredients.

How to find which pharmacies have Adderall in stock?

To manage ADHD symptoms efficiently, check if your local pharmacy has Adderall in stock before refilling a prescription. Contact local pharmacies directly via phone or email, or use online systems or apps to check stock levels. For a broader search, visit pharmacy chain websites like CVS, Drugs. com, and GoodRx. Keep in mind that pharmacy stock can fluctuate during shortages, so frequent checks may be necessary. Additionally, explore services like Klarity, where you can choose a ADHD treatment provider and have them prescribe medication online, ensuring you receive the necessary treatment without delay.

  • I was on adderall IR 20mg 2-3x daily (depending on my day) for the last 5 years. Around the 4 year mark I felt like my medication wasn’t working like it used to. Sure- I was getting through the day but I wasn’t getting as much done as I should be. A lot of the unmedicated ADHD symptoms came back. I talked to my doctor about a month ago about this and she said well there’s 2 options- we can increase your dose of IR or we can try XR and a smaller dose of IR. Personally- if I was taking IR I knew I had to take my last dose before a certain time or else I wouldn’t be able to sleep well at night… which I often forgot to redose before that time so I was stuck unmedicated. I ended up going with 30mg adderall XR and 10mg IR 1-2x as needed. For me, the XR was a game changer. Sure it takes about an hour to kick in- but what I’ll do is wake up about an hour and a half before I need to, take my meds and go back to sleep. When I wake up for the day I’m already ready to go. What I love about it is I don’t feel a huge dopamine drop in the middle of the day. Around the 5-8hour mark of the XR I usually take an IR. I haven’t had to take a second IR since taking XR so for my refill I just told my doctor I just needed 30 instead of 60 of the IR. Every one is different and I’m glad I made the change!

  • Thank you so much for breaking down the time line, and how it totally fucks our day up. hopefully my doctor can understand this, because its so fucking to fight adhd, and people are angry at your because just can’t pay attention, to them or work. The quality of life falls to shit, when your fighting a invisible disability.

  • I am 30 and was diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago. I am now being prescribed 15MG ADD XR, per on request when I wasn’t prescribed i would buy the pill form and it would wear off after a few days and I wouldn’t feel it at all. So I told my doctor the extended release are better because in the past i did take those as well but were harder to get and it worked really well with my body. I won’t get my dose until a few days from now, I am excited and happy because for the past 3-6 years my ADHD has been kicking my ass and It’s to the point where it’s hard to focus and think clearly and articulate i feel like I have constant thunder clouds in my head and it’s always a storm up there and the brain fog and exhaustion is crazy…

  • I take adderall. Daily. I have ‘moderate to severe’ Adult ADHD. In all honesty, all people with diagnosed ADHD that take adderall that I know, myself included, makes me very calm, relaxed, and even sleepy at times. More like a tranquilizer. I wish it gave me that bump it gives you. Don’t get me wrong – it works incredibly well for me and managing my ADHD symptoms, but I never get zippy off the shit. It’s closer to a Valium for me.

  • I’m so thankful to have found the doctor I did. I admitted to her I tried a friends prescription a couple years ago (boo yea I know yOuR nOt SuPpOsEd to take someone elses prescription) but my friend gave it to me excited to speed clean our hotel room because she kept asking when I was going to and I kept saying soon for like 3 hours 🤣 but surprise, I took it, she was wired and I was soo calm and was like holy shit is this what “normal” people feel like?! I have no anxiety now! My doctor actually told me “oh good so youve tried it! Let’s start on that exact dose then.” And I have 0 side effects and the same quiet mind no anxiety effect. Be honest with a doctor you trust. 😁

  • Thank you genuinely for sharing your story. I have been thinking about for a long time asking my doctor about getting off of extended release. I have a lot of digestion issues and it takes an incredibly long time for my medication to kick in. (sometimes 5 hours if I eat before) Actually, my fiancé brought up that they had a type that released quicker. I have a thyroid problem so I think that’s why I metabolize things a lot slower as well. Would switching do you think help this issue? I know you’re not a doctor, but you definitely seem knowledgeable about this. The issue is is I have really severe ADHD. Like my mom will yell at me when I don’t take my meds because I am apparently not a fun person to be around. ( I don’t know why, but my ADHD presents itself like a 13-year-old boy and I’m legit like a 28 year old female 😂) basically every time I brought up switching (besides hubby) I’ve been shut down very quickly because they are afraid it’s not going to work as well as the medication I have been taking. My mom is kind of on board, but she said that I would really have to test it out before. I also don’t really have an answer as to why medication take so long to kick in. I have diagnosis is that would probably explain it, but they’ve never been explained to me as to why this has been an issue. The biggest reason I wanted to switch was because if the medication kicked in earlier, I would actually take it more often because I know I would be able to fall asleep at night. my dosage also got kind of weird because I went off of my medication when I got pregnant for my daughter and then when I was put back on it, it did not work basically.

  • Like yourself, I also Have CPTSD, ADHD, GAD, and MDD. For my ADHD, I take BOTH Adderall XR and regular Adderall…and I take 300mg Bupropion for my MDD and GAD(bc I dont use benzos). As for the Adderall, I take 30mg XR in the morning but my body metabolizes the med faster than most, people so I take a 10mg Regular Adderall Tablet as an Afternoon booster..bc I can feel the XR tapering down and so I also use the 10mg tablet that carries me through the rest of my day. I try to avoid taking any on weekends so that I dont get too tolerant. At night before bedtime I take 12.5mg extended release Ambien to sleep and its taken alot of trial and error, but all these are finally..the right combo’s of medications for me. As you said.. everyone is a little different. As for people snorting Adderall, (Ive done that before)..its a pretty bad idea bc Snorting Adderall actually causes hyperthermia and can be dangerous, especially if someone is sick and running a fever.. The liver definitely needs to be processing it in your system without a doubt

  • Finally found a doctor covered by insurance to hook me up with Addys. Had to do a a month of crappy strattera which messed me up BAD! But it was totally worth the pain. Got my first script today. 10 XR and 10 IR for afternoon dose. Im coming off sublicaid in a couple months so this will certainly help take the edge off. LETS GO! I loved crystal meth back in the day and i know this will feel like home.

  • Thank you I love the pills. Body has a hard time from me overdoing black coffee and Adderall doesn’t give me sad times when it leaves thank God, but my brain needs stimulating it seems. I don’t do Hard drugs (I will NEVER TRY CRACK!) JUST cbd, coffee, random stuff like that. If I have a random sad bout, I can usually think of why and it will go away. Adderall is basically what caffeine does but focuses on the neurons almost exclusively. I don’t think I will try the XR version.

  • Super helpful article. Thank you. Your explanation is pretty practical and relatable. I’m still in the titration period for Adderall XR, just recently diagnosed ADHD. But I’m already noting the unpredictability of the timing/window. While I initially thought one and done would be the most straightforward and effective way forward for my meds, I can certainly see how I would appreciate the freedom to have a 4-hour window for certain tasks, rather than getting locked into being under the influence of the medication for the entire day. The choice, control, and consistency of IR sounds appealing and I relate to your thought-process there.

  • I switched from instant release adderall to extended release, I prefer the extended release 1000%. The quick release is garbage, unless if your doctor prescribes you 3 pills a day it’s stupid. I want to take one pill and forget about taking pills the rest of the day, not keep reaching into my pocket for more because I’m crashing. It worked well for me today when I took it, felt really great throughout the day uplifted and energized. The instant release adderall lifts you up and smacks you down, I wasn’t a fan. Also there’s a so called adderall shortage in the country my pharmacy told me, so XR is more readily available. The instant release tabs take forever to come in, I’ll stick with the XR and see what happens. So far so good.

  • I have a non standard schedule. I rarely work before 11am. My natural sleep cycles keeps me up later anyway, so XR is definitely better for me. I also find i like the consistent slow release of XR. XR is a slow gentle takeoff and landing once a day. My prescriber is really good and asked me about my schedule before picking a med.

  • I’m glad I found your article. My son has been on Adderall XR for awhile and it’s just not working right the afternoons are so rough for him and now the mornings are because he gets to school later so it’s not in the system when school starts. We have been thinking about switching him to regular Adderall because we can control the timing better.

  • I like your article We have the same problem, my friend. I had to wait 5 years for my doctor to give me something better. first he prescribed Duloxetine then prozac then bupropion different milligrams and others that I don’t remember but finally we got to Methylphenidate for a whole year and nothing and now I am prescribed ADDERALL 25 MG XR capsule and the same thing is happening to me It takes a while to enter the blood and it is a futrasion as you say and now I am afraid that I have to wait another 6 months for him to change me and prescribe one of immediate release any ideas of what to say to my doctor

  • Same story for me, Eric. Precisely. Also 3 years sober from Alcohol, now I think I am dependent (not addicted) to Adderal, and have concluded (maybe prematurely) that I should get entirely off of Adderal. I am going to be useless, however. Maybe I should cut it in half and only take 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg in the afternoon rather than get off it entirely? I’m outreaching to my prescriber and sharing your article post with my therapist.

  • I currently take Adderal XR 25mg but asked my doctor to switch me the IR and she said she will start me on 15mg IR in the morning and 15mg around noon. My question is does Adderall IR hit stronger then XR? Like will i feel the same amount of energy and euphoria i do on 25MG XR on 15MG IR? I’m a 220lbs dude back in high school i weighed 160lbs and was on 30MG XR lol i told my doctor that and she started me on 20mg XR and a week later told her i needed a higher dose and she basically told me she wont prescribe me anything higher then 25mg which makes no sense to me if i was on a higher dosage at 16 years old.

  • Seems like crazy required you to time it better and use your calendar differently. Everyone’s different. Started 10-10-10-10 a month ago. Tomorrow is First day of 30xr and the option for 10 at 4. My day starts at 5 am and I sleep like a baby at 9 pm. No ssri or anything else. I did not like pills 3-4 a day. I felt like a pill popper and my brain was fried by 8 -9 pm . Sleepy but sad. I am not a sad person so I knew it was the meds. Your intro tells me you got a lot going on. I probably do too but I’ll take this beast on this go around.

  • I just started taking Adderall. It took me years to decide to get treated for it. I had been diagnosed when I was little but after bad experiences with psychiatrist as a kid I didn’t want to take that route. I tried so many times should be productive and get my life together and just no matter what I did it wasn’t sustainable. I also have OCD and I was worried that Adderall could make it worse but it really clears the chatter in my head and makes me feel good. Not insanely good but you know just regular good and happy. I feel like I’m not bombarded with my thoughts and I could actually just hear the birds chirp and feel the stillness around me

  • Does Adderall help with procrastinating or picking a project to focus on? I was prescribed 12.5mg over a year ago, tried it about 20 times. Have 10 tablets left, not sure if it works. I have always been distracted, drive for a few hours daily getting food or parts for projects but never work on them. Even a drippy faucet for 3+ years that would take 15 minutes to fix doesn’t get done.

  • So I tried 10 mg instant twice a day a month ago and now for since June 18th I’ve been on 20g extended release because I could feel anxiety when through my almost 11 and a half 12-hour shift which in and of itself was another cause for anxiety I could feel it wearing off halfway through and then I would get distracted and overwhelmed and become more impulsive when I was trying to stay focused. Yeah that’s 5:50 that’s why I’m on the extended release because it should be a slower curved when it dissipates out of my bloodstream unlike the Adderall which I was carrying the entire pill bottle around with me and is a couple of times I would be working so fast and the second I got distracted I’d pop another one got to the point where I took three 10 mg tablets 24 hours combined with 20 hours with no food or sleep I took one when I woke up from a micro nap I don’t remember sleeping but it could have been an hour or so that I dozed off for less than an hour but I took another one just so I could remember what I was working on because I was foggy

  • I take adderall and suboxone. I. Have severe adhd . I take 20mg 3times a day.since I started I’ve been clean 8 years off of drugs and alcohol. I want to see if I can take less without telling my dr. Cause I want to keep my script the same. But hearing you say that you only take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at night. Let’s me know I can definitely take less. Cause I take a lot more than I need too.❤❤

  • I feel this 100% when you said you would get home from work and want to work on projects! I was prescribed XR 2 months after my wife and I found out we are having a second baby. I was prescribed it to help with fatigue from my multiple sclerosis and narcolepsy i do have ADHD as well. I’m a stay at home dad and all day i just been so focused on the things im doing out in the yard or on my PC that my wife says it’s like i don’t exist anymore. She thinks im a emotionless zombie now that has no feelings and doesn’t get excited about anything lol i think a bit of it is her being overdramatic with her pregnancy hormones. I’m switching to adderall ir once it gets filled its crazy every time i get a script of adderall sent to the pharmacy i get a text saying its out of stock that they have to order it or are waiting for it do to the shortage.

  • Good article. I don’t have ADHD. PTSD, Lamictal, for bipolar,MDD. And Prozac I do take Adderal 10 mg, half am and half in the afternoon. I thought I would try the XR only so I didn’t want to be bothered with splitting pills Anyway your article was informative and helpful. Since all patients react differently I can’t complain about the inconvenience of splitting the Adderal. It works for so why push it. Thanks Thumbs 👍 up.

  • I have been on 36mg of Concerta. It makes me sleep much better at night but that is about it. My doctor put me on 5mg Adderall twice daily. I start it tomorrow. I’m excited and a bit nervous about the change. The Concerta was great,..for a single day. The first day, I felt a euphoria. I could hear silence in between the noice. It was amazing. Good thing is, I used to live off of Soda or pop for the northerners. I was consuming it like a mad man all day every day for the quick hit of dopamine. As soon as I took Concerta, I had zero cravings. Problem is sugary sodas were almost automatically a part of my life because I craved it. Since I tend to have no focus, I bounce around from task to task and forget to drink water. I literally have been surrounding myself with bottled water so I drink something. I’m getting it, but it has taken awhile. I wasn’t super over weight but I knocked 20lbs off in about 2 months just by eliminating the constant sugar. Cutting out the sugar has been easy with Conserta and it has had a tremendous impact on my feeling of well being.

  • I find that the XR version is a lot more effective for me especially given the job I have where it’s very monotonous. Helps me not fall asleep and definitely has me more focused than if I’m not on it. Plus if you add a strong cup of coffee that’s 928 mgs of caffeine per 12fl oz of coffee brewed you can see how you’d be wired to the point you can do just about anything you couldn’t do ordinarily or can’t stay focused on. And before anyone assumes anything. I am diagnosed as having adult ADD. Doctor definitely helped by prescribing this.

  • I currently take 20mg XR and I’m going to switch. For me, my days are just not consistent enough and I’m really busy in the morning getting my son ready for daycare and getting myself ready so sometimes I forget to take it and by the time I look at the clock I’m like “shit it’s noon can’t take it now” so I end up skipping days and suffering because of it and it will be much better for me to still be able to take my med in the middle of the day if I have a busy morning and it slips my mind. My doctor is amazing so I know he’ll switch me over when I ask.

  • I just went from the 20 mg twice a day, to 20mgXR, so your article was spot on as far as mg amount so thank you for that. I start mine tomorrow and let you know by weeks end k? I’m Dawna and now I’m wondering if I should have done extended release for 10 mg. ? Like you said, trial and error…process of elimination. Thanks again. Peace 9:38 9:38

  • Can someone help me out pleaseee… So I had been taking 2 20mg Adderall a day for the last few months. I sort of started to feel like it wasnt working as well so I asked my doctor if he could up my dosage. The idiot wrote my script for 25mg pills which do not exist. So I had to rush back to my doctors office before they closed for a new script and he had wrote me for 30mg XR. I was not happy about it because I knew it was going to mess up my routine that I had all figured out but I didnt get a chance to discuss this with my doctor. Im now on the 3rd day of taking these 30mg XR and its obvious to me that they are not working. I’m literally at work right now tired as hell and just feel different and off. I feel almost woozy I guess…? I dont know. All I know is I deffinately do not feel the same as I have since starting on adderall about 9 months ago and I do not like it. Im pissed which is causing me stress. Im in the middle of trying to make a career change so I need to be able to function and focus on getting my shit done. What do I do? Can I go back to my doctor and ask him to change it? Will the pharmacy even fill it? This is just a really bad time for me to be experimenting with different meds. I’ll even take going back to taking 2 20mg a day like I was. If someone can help me out with a solution I would greatly appreciate it. I plan on calling my doctor but they are closed till Tuesday for Memorial Day weekend and if I know I will be able to switch back without having to wait a whole month, it would make my weekend a lot less stressful.

  • I am about to start the trial and error process with adhd meds. It is my first time trying this. This helped me understand what my doctor gave me a little bit more. I was prescribed mixed salt amphetamines sandoz xr. I now understand the xr part, but I’m confused about the sandoz part. I was told I was getting adderal, but i assume i was given a generic brand? Does the mixed salt thing matter? I am trying to understand this stuff more, because it is sort of scary.

  • I just got diagnosed at 49 and started my adderall IR this past Wed. Well, it does calm me down but also makes me sleepy and don’t feel like working. I kept wondering if I really do have adhd? I am going to try to do 15mg tmrw and see. Hopefully that’s the right dosage. I felt less tired but I also do not feel like working. No motivation at all.

  • Hey guys, I suffer from ADHD, and my doctor suddenly changed my Addy meds, due to elevated heartrate, and they said they were worried about my heart, which does makes sense.. But my Life is turning into a living hell without my meds, any advice ? on how to address this ? or Please Recommend something that works, because people without ADHD just do not get it.

  • I’ve been taking the same regimen of Adderall as you except taking my second dose at 1300. Around 16-1700 I started to notice that I was becoming in explainably angry or deeply depressed (like scary depressed) for a couple of hours. My Dr is wanting to discuss changing to xr. I’m not sure how it will be any better. I was taking Vyvanse with an occasional Adderall bump during my ladies days ;). Vyvanse makes me jittery where as Adderall does not. I feel happier in Vyvanse and never experienced a let down, but I found I felt more “human” (or at least what I assume non-ADHD people feel like) on Adderall. Both helped with BED. I really wish Adderall didn’t have such a vicious come down because I felt like it helped the best over all for me. Even my sleeping habits seemed to improve. Though that may have been because I couldn’t drink any caffeine with the Adderall lol as that seemed to increase the let down effects.

  • I find that the addreall xr affects me right as I’m officially starting my work. So it’s perfect. I was prescribed it because of binge eating but I think my physician might have known that I had adhd too. But it took me from being a complete but to getting my permit learning to drive and getting my license. I was exercising but fell off. But not as long as I used to fall off. It’s been very helpful. I liked it better from rite aid than cvs but I keep forgetting to switch back to the right aid when I call it in for a refill.

  • Say, friend.. it’s just my opinion but, I’d recommend changing prescriptions, once more. Get the actual dosage of 10 mg ir, two times daily in lieu of the 20 mg ir, once a day. May prove to be good for your mental wellness, based upon your story. Stray from thinking “its normal to break apart medications” in general. After all, it was prescribed by a licensed medical doctor and then dispensed by a medically licensed pharmacist, hopefully paid for by insurance that we all, as adults work 40+ hours a week to pay for! We’re good people, contributing positively to the local societies, and we deserve proper dosages of medicine. If you cut pills at home, they’re never exactly half. Be well, friend.

  • Its been about Adderall since my adults adhd combination type a 1 year ago. I take 30mg morning and 30mg afternoon, i just start taking 10mg XR instrad of 30mg and half for the afternoon. Its always a process to dialing the medication. The only time i felt Adderall was when i just started it and when I went up a 10mg increment, both only lasting for 2 weeks before my body adjusted. Hopefully XR helps because since my commute at 8am can take 45min or longer so when i get to the office at 9am its wears off before noon

  • Thanks for making this! My doctor wants to put me on the extended release…. But I’m hesitant because when I was taking Ritalin I found that the extended release didn’t work at all for me. I had to make the switch to Adderall because the Ritalin made me so freakin tired I couldn’t get any work done. BUT I’m highly considering the extended release because I have such a hard time remembering that second pill 😬

  • Was on Adderall for years, have to say the Adderall xr was absolutely the best for me, only had to take a 20mg or a 30mg in the morning instead of remembering a second tablet at 1pm. Both work but the capsules with the little orange BBs always much more calming and even a little euphoria like I was walking on clouds at times and had less negative effects on my appetite and sleep as where the regular ones felt a little more speedy and a little jonzey towards evening, wish they never made me go off of the stuff, ended up causing me a lot of issues after stopping use of stimulants after use of them since childhood. Still feel like I’ll never be the same without it, it’s a shame the capsules cost more-or used to

  • I just started taking Adderall XR earlier this month and so far my experience has been pretty similar. I’m going to talk to my nurse practitioner about switching to regular Adderall to see if that will work better for me. The XR variety just isn’t kicking in fast enough and enough at once. I need something that’s going to kick my butt into gear. 😆 I think it helps a bit with my overall energy level, but I’m still finding myself pretty easily distracted and restless a lot of the time.

  • I am prescribed 20 mg adderall instant release 3 times a day. I take 60 mg of adderall total per day. Once at 8 am, once at 12:30 pm, and once at 5 pm. I sleep like a baby 7 hours straight through when I go to sleep at night. Adderall comes me down so much so I’m not so scatter brain while not laying in bed all day. It has been changed my life. Is 60 mg of IR adderall a day a lot? I do take mine how I am supposed to though.I don’t abuse it.I’ve only been on it for 2.5 months. Have you had any longterm side effects and if yes, what? If I ever get off it, are the withdraws bad?

  • Thank you for doing this, it’s a new prescription for me and I’m a person who somewhat “freaks out” about taking pills of any kind. So this helps alot. You gave me 100× more info than the doctor ever did even with all the ?’s I had. Can you tell me also if the 15mg xr blue and white capsules are supposed to be half full or all full? I have some ppl who live with me that have issues with pills in the past and although I don’t believe them to be tampered with… I honestly am not sure and I can’t get a straight answer from the pharmacy. If you could answer to clear it up that would help alot but either way thank you so much on the information you gave. Such a relief to get a straight answer. Best of luck to you and your family. ✊

  • Thanks for sharing! I’ve dealt with MDD & GAD most of my life (started @ 12 yo & I’m 52 now). Although taking my anti depressant & anxiety meds for the last few yrs I’ve been so much worse & especially suffered from a huge lack of motivation so bad that my home (clutter) & relationships were suffering badly. At my last Dr visit my Dr prescribed me Adderall & it has made a world of difference & I am so very thankful! Hoping to get my life back & hope I won’t have any negative side effects from the Adderall! Now I’m wondering did I really have MDD & GAD or has ADD been my problem this whole time. Or it may be a combination of all of it, who know 🤷🏼‍♀️
