Does Christianity Have Any Dances Or Rituals?

In religious contexts, rituals are set forms of worship that involve symbolic physical actions such as genuflecting before entering a pew or making the sign of the cross. For the first five centuries of Christianity, the church opposed dancing, believing it incited idolatry. However, over time, dance has been integrated into Christianity and taken on various forms of sacred dance in Christianity and Messianic Judaism.

Christian dance is not wrong in itself, but when done in the flesh, it is considered acceptable. It is important to learn to dance in the spirit to give God an acceptable worship. Some Christian traditions make use of liturgical or worship dance, but it has long been controversial within the church.

Christianity is the only major world religion that has forbidden dance to such an extent, with the Second Vatican Council called during the 1960s by the Catholic pope. Religious dances can range from spontaneous individual movement to highly formalized symbolic movements that appear in ritual and ceremony as part of worship.

In Christianity, there is a troubling history of condemning dance in specific spaces, some even deeming it an inappropriate means of connecting with religion. The Sacred Dance combines beauty and holiness into a spiritual harmony, where “beauty” is the penultimate and “holy” is the ultimate. This article explores the importance of Christian rituals, teachings about rituals, and examples of Christian celebrations.

Are Christians allowed to twerk?

The Bible offers counsel against twerking, a dance form that has been observed to stimulate sexual thoughts and feelings. It also emphasizes the importance of avoiding sexual impurity and immorality, although it does not explicitly use the term “twerking.”

Does the Bible say God dances?

Zephaniah prophesies that when we are pure, healthy, and full of life, God will express his delight in us by singing. This expression of joy is akin to Jesus’ parable of the lost son, where the father is excited to welcome his son home. Our heavenly Father rejoices over every sinner who repents, and we can imagine the celebration when the Lord comes to live among us forever. We are not used to thinking of God singing or dancing over us, but we should learn to delight in Him as He already delights in us. This is a reminder of the amazing grace of God our Father.

Does Christianity allow dancing?

The Bible teaches that dancing may cause sin, but not all dancing is sinful. Most references to dancing do not condemn it, but there are a few instances where it is shown to be sinful. Paul advises us to test all things and abstain from every form of evil. The first mention of dancing in the Bible is in Exodus 15:20, celebrating the deliverance of women from the Egyptians by God’s power at the Red Sea. These women were not dancing with men. Therefore, it is important to put dancing to the test and see what’s good and evil.

Does the Bible have rituals?

Biblical rituals, such as burning incense in the Catholic church and blowing a ram’s horn at the Jewish new year, continue to be practiced in modified forms. These rituals adapt to changing conditions and our evolving religious sensibility. By observing these rituals, we can experience the familiarity of the world of the Bible. Does Christianity have any traditions?

Christianity has a long history of tension towards tradition, which began with rejecting the pious traditions of the Hebrew Scriptures and synagogue practices. Jesus created a new “new law” in the Sermon on the Mount, which has been carried on in the church. Tradition encompasses all aspects of Christian life, including teachings, worship service, prayer, liturgy, oral and written tradition, and the transition of oral into written tradition.

The break with Judaism was not total, as the Scriptures were adopted from Jewish tradition but interpreted based on the concepts of salvation around Jesus Christ. The book of Psalms was taken over in Christian worship as the foundation of the liturgy. The new revelation became tradition in the oral transmission of the words (logia) of the Lord and reports (kerygma) concerning his life events, such as baptism, Passion, Resurrection, and Ascension.

The unique tradition of oral transmission developed in Judaism coexisted with the written Law, with both text and tradition believed to have been entrusted to Moses on Mount Sinai. The doctrinal contents of the tradition were initially passed orally and memorized by students. However, due to the possibilities of error in purely oral transmission, the extensive and growing body of tradition was eventually fixed in written form.

The rabbinic tradition of the Pharisees was established in the Mishna and later in the Palestinian and Babylonian Talmud. The learned discussion of tradition by necessity continued in constant exegetical debate with the Holy Scriptures. The written record of tradition never claimed to be equal to the Holy Scriptures in Judaism. A similar process of written fixation occurred among the sectarians of the community at Qumrān, which recorded its interpretation of the Law first orally in the tradition.

Does Christianity have any rituals?

Christian tradition is a collection of practices or beliefs associated with Christianity, with ecclesiastical traditions having authority based on their nature and the group in question. Many churches have traditional practices, such as worship patterns, which can be considered unacceptable or heretical. Some Christian traditions are practiced throughout the liturgical year, such as daily devotions during Advent, nativity scenes during Christmastide, fasting during Lent, waving palms on Palm Sunday, eating easter eggs on Eastertide, and decorating the church in red on Pentecost.

Tradition also includes historic teachings of recognized church authorities, such as Church Councils and ecclesiastical officials, and the teachings of significant individuals like the Church Fathers, Protestant Reformers, and denomination founders. Many creeds, confessions of faith, and catechisms generated by these bodies and individuals are part of the traditions of various bodies.

Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Persian churches distinguish between Apostolic or sacred tradition and ecclesiastical traditions. Ecclesial traditions develop over time in theology, discipline, liturgy, and devotions, which the Church may retain, modify, or abandon. Apostolic tradition, on the other hand, is the teaching handed down by the Apostles through word of mouth, example, and institutions, including the apostolic succession of bishops.

Is there dancing in the Bible?

Dance is frequently mentioned in the Bible as a means of worship and praise to God, but it can also be used to worship wrong idols. Many Christians view dancing as a form of worship, but God was pleased with it. To make a wise decision on how to use the gift of dance, consider the Bible verses about it, such as “a time to weep and laugh, a time to mourn and dance”, and “I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt”.

Is praying a ritual in Christianity?

Prayer is a common ritual in both Christianity and Islam, allowing individuals to communicate with God and build relationships. Both religions can say prayer privately or publicly, and this commonality can help Christians and Muslims better relate. This article explores the types of prayer in both religions, the difference between multireligious prayer and interreligious prayer, and the factors to consider when organizing an interfaith prayer. A successful interfaith prayer can lead religious people to mutual respect and understanding, ultimately fostering better inter-faith relations.

Makafui M. Tayviah, PhD, a lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, highlights the importance of prayer in fostering mutual understanding and respect between religious communities.

Did Jesus do rituals?

Did Jesus do rituals?

Jesus’ life on earth was filled with religious rituals and traditions, from conception to death. He was a practicing and perfect Jew, obeying the Law of Moses. His hypocritical leaders knew this because they could never pin anything on him. Jesus grew up surrounded by rites, rituals, traditions, liturgical worship, and prescribed prayers, even from his birth. For example, newborn Passover lambs were tightly wrapped and laid in a manger to protect themselves from blemishes.

  • David’s dancing was an outward expression of praising the Lord,it was done in the right context, dancing for the Lord in the right context is not wrong at all but one should not do so in a disruptive or provocative manner since God is a God of order,it is tricky to differentiate between dancing motivated by the Lord and his presence and dancing motivated by the flesh especially when the music is good,God judges both our actions and motives, we should check our motives when dancing for the Lord and make sure that our motive is to honor and glorify Jesus, when praising keep your mind focused on the Lord

  • I’ve been in church most of my life (starting at the age of 10). In my opinion, dancing in this 21st century is done as “showmanship.” The church is dancing as a form of spirituality. In other words, if you can’t dance or don’t dance, you’re not spiritual or even a Christian. It’s done as a form of entertainment. David was not in a church!

  • Praise the Lord ! I didn’t know that you could praise the Lord with dancing until the Spirit of the Lord fell on me and I began dancing in a church that I was visiting . I was shocked that I was dancing . I didn’t know what was happening to me . I was the only one who broke out dancing . A pastor who was also visiting the church came up to me after I stopped and asked me who was my pastor . He said he was not trying to steal me from my pastor. I didn’t know it was in the Bible to praise the Lord with dancing when it happened to me

  • I dance in church. I don’t even like public attention. Sometimes I don’t even want to stand up, but God has done so much for me, and sometimes I feel moved to stand up and worship. I don’t want eyes on me, but I silently talk to God and say, “It’s You and me,” meaning I’m not putting on a show for anyone. It’s just me and Him. Sometimes I’ll even just close my eyes and sway.

  • I’m noticing a concerning pattern. The church has become so overrun by liscentiousness, that now a lot of teachers are pulling so far away thay they’re bordering or crossing into legalism. We see all these “pastors” saying “Do whatever you want! God understands!” and we recoil and correctly discern that to be wrong, but in our efforts to “not fall victim” to liscentiousness, we stray into legalism. I think it’s a good reminder that it’s not any better to be a Pharisee than it is a Prostitute. It’s just as serious of a sin to put extra-biblical restrictions on people as it is to encourage people to sin. Isaiah 29:13 “The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught”

  • “Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.” – Psalm 149:2-3 Be careful not to throw burdens on people that God is not burdening people with. The Pharisees had “justification” for forbidding healing on the sabbath

  • Its really sad to see so many Christians arguing over this and believing we can know what is in each others hearts. Its also sad that some men are talking about women dancing in church “distracting” them. Just close yours eyes and focus on God. Worship is definitely not about perusal other people to see how they worship or what they’re going to do. David danced before the Lord on a road, Miriam and a bunch of other women danced and sang before the Lord on the other side of the Red sea. Okay so these were not churches. Does it matter? I don’t see how when the church building is not the temple of God you are! I’ll dance for joy because God redeemed me and set me free! I’ll dance because God sees fit to live and dwell inside me. Why should the enemy be allowed to have dance when God is the creator? The joy of the Lord is my strength is it yours? Does dancing fill you with joy? Do you think it fills God with joy to see you enjoying life and all the things that He has given us?

  • “Praise Him with the cymbal Praise Him with the dance Praise Him with the shofar Praise Him with your hands Praise Him with the timbrel Praise Him with the harp Praise Him with the drum and the flute Praise Him with your heart” – Hallelu et Adonai by Ted Pearce/ Paul Wilbur If you’re dancing solely because YOU want to, you’re doing it disruptively, if you dance because Ruach Ha’Kadosh moves you to, then by all means, dance your dance of praise and worship.

  • All for His Glory. Each should pick his own way of worship. If you enjoy dancing, then do it for His Glory. If you like to lay down on the ground to worship, great. If you kneel and throw your hands up, then wonderful. Do what you want to worship the Lord. The problem lies where people feel they have to do something because everyone else is doing it. Or people make you feel bad or that you don’t have the Holy Spirit because you don’t worship like them. There is the problem. Because then who are you doing it for?

  • It’s OK to go to ball games and shout and dance around, it’s Ok to go to your kids graduation and shout and dance around, but you best not get emotional in Church and celebrate the greatest victory of all mankind. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE STUFFED SHIRTS THAT CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS? Shame on you guys for mocking and putting down Christians that want to celebrate their faith.

  • The Bible mentions dancing as a way to praise and express joy to God in several places, including Psalms 30:11-12, 149:3, and 150:4. For example, Psalms 149:3 says, “Let them praise his name with dancing…Praise him with tambourine and dance”. 2 Samuel 6:14–22 also describes David dancing before the Lord as an example of surrendering to God in worship.

  • In one of the most effusive displays of worship recorded in the Bible, King David danced “before the Lord with all his might” (2 Samuel 6:14). The occasion was the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. It was a day of rejoicing as David “and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets” (verse 15). David had set aside his royal robes and was “wearing a linen ephod”

  • If David who the Bible that was inspired by the Holy spirit calls David “a man after Gods own heart” and a “mighty man of valor” danced in the presence of God I think dancing in church is fine. God created music, God created rhythm and if the holy spirit is moving in someone and they respond by dance I don’t see the problem.

  • No Voddie!! I don’t understand why no one is speaking out against Voddie. Voddie doesn’t think it takes all that. HOWEVER some of us know scriptures for ourselves Voddie.! Many places in the Bible speaks of dancing for the Lord Ecclesiastes and many scriptures but my favorite is psalm 149 3-4. Let them praise His ñame with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. Voddie doesn’t think that’s necessary. We don’t have an ark or a king? I disagree Voddie!! We have the King of King and Lord of Lords and it would behoove you to praise and worship him. Teaching is wonderful but you aren’t teaching the Bible all way. Humble yourself before God humbled you Voddie!!!

  • I’ll tell you this, I was in The Assembly of God church for 20 years of my first marriage & I could not accept all the hoopla & hollering, running up & down the isle, flipping flopping all over the floor & hearing all this mumbling & gibberish they call tongues. It was the hardest thing to go through but I did it because at the time because I thought I was doing what God expected me to do by following my husband at the time. Knowing what I know now, I wished I never spent on day of my life in some of those demonic spirited churches. Today they are call Charismatic Movement, Prosperity Churches, claim it and name it churches. If your in one of these, RUN for your life & NEVER LOOK BACK! It’s NOT a true church!

  • You it’s funny how people can always find justification to do something without God’s approval. Who is the number 1 worshipper of all time? Who worshipped God the absolute correct way without blemishes. Right the Son of God. But, we are going to imitate a form of worship from a man who was a murder and adulterer. I see why most Christians can’t overcome sin. The Bible says follow and mark the perfect and upright. How about following Jesus Christ as our model of worship. He never dance, ran or laughed out load, screamed, and every other type of emotional behavior. The way of the cross is a changed mind, not emotionalism. I feel sorry for this weak and perverse generation. They hate scripture, they exult personal relationships over the truth of God’s word. Every thing with this generation is what I personally believe and my convictions. Let all you be liars and the Bible truth. God said, he is looking for true worshippers, not form and fashion. “If the Spirit falls on you” please, that’s the music and the charisma of the singer and preacher. Soon as some of you get a bad report, all the dancing go out the window, soon as your money dry up, where is the Spirit now? Your spouse cheats on, kids disrespect you, your whole life is a mess, God can’t pay you to dance. Going to church saying pray for me. Emotionalism has no power over Satan, dancing has no power over the dark things in this world. But a change mind. God wants your obedience not your emotional outburst. The land is sick because of all this foolishness in America.

  • When the anointing of the Holy Ghost hits you. You will dance in church I have many many times over the 39 years that I’ve been in church. Sometimes it’s hard for me to walk to get in church I have problems with my legs but when the anointing of God hits me the power of God. My feet come off the floor.

  • “And David “DANCED” before the Lord with all his might….” ~2 Samuel 6:14~ “Let them Praise the name of the Lord in the dance… ~Psalms 149:3~ Now, this is NOT DISCO DANCING OR SLOW DANCING WITH A PARTNER OR AS A COUPLE OR POLE DANCING! This is what the Jews did and still do, IT IS ALSO written in the Scripture, so you CANNOT SAY IT IS NOT BIBLICAL. Although it’s not a “MANDATORY” PRACTICE, you cannot condemn those who do it in holy praise.

  • The real question to me is what the context is inside the church. At our church there is a special worship service once a month in addition to regular services. It is nothing but music, performance, some speaking and baptisms, etc. Some dance there. It is a “party” and time for frivolity. In the regular services it’s a time for thoughtful and serious-minded reflection. I think this appropriate.

  • I watched this article year ago (I was charismatic) and this made me upset to a great degree. But listening to it today as a Reformed Christian, with the understanding that verses should not be divorced from their context; understanding the sovereignty and holiness of God, I pretty much agree with Dr Voddie

  • Just going to leave this here: ‭”Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp. ‭4 For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” Psalms 149:3-4 I also can’t help but see a racial undertone to this. The Reformed/Calvanist is traditionally European and Male. In contrast, the black church (& brown) has long been demonized for our more expressive worship styles, specifically by certain white faith traditions, not because its actually wrong but because it does not fit their cultural preference. This is something to take note of, especially because Christianity is not a European faith. I think Calvanists often forget that God is also Spirit and supernatural in addition to caring about theology.

  • When I saw this I was on the fence about giving an opinion. So from the top of the fence here goes. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy. – Psalm 30:11 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe. – Psalm 150:4 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise— the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. – Hebrews 13:15 Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. – Psalm 149:1-3

  • Me I don’t dance AT ALL. Dancing is just something I don’t do. I grew up in a charismatic church and they made it seem you are required to dance to praise and worship God. When in reality, dancing is a permitted act of worship by God. Every time I went up to the alter, to “dance”, it NEVER felt real. Same goes for slaying in the spirit. The relationship between Jesus and I seems to be more focused and serving. Thing is a lot of Christian think there’s a one sized fits all relationship with Jesus when in reality Jesus know exactly how to win everyone’s hearts. Personally. Just Jesus and you. I’ve come to conclusion that Jesus loves me, I love Him and our relationship is beautiful. Seek Jesus people. It would help you a ton.

  • One of the greatest gifts bestowed upon me was to have my eyes opened to the fact that Jesus has a sense of humor. Awesomely funny, I laugh until I am out of breath. I try to keep it in check, and my foundation is always taking Him seriously. But it is a form of loving him with all of my heart, my mind, my soul. My strength manifests by how all consuming my joy and laughter can be!

  • The day that I got saved, God put me in a literal trance, and I couldn’t stop doing a dance in the Spirit, and I was crying like a baby. The trance lasted for 2 straight days. I have been in a prophetic ministry for nearly 30 years. I am also an endtime watchman, called, appointed and anointed by God. Whoever says no dancing in the church, don’t know God in the Spirit and are carnal.

  • This is highly religious and wrong to say dancing in church is not Biblical. Psalm 149:3 says to dance to God. Exodus 15:20-21 they danced to God. Psalm 150:4 says to dance to God during praise and worship. David danced to God. It doesn’t say God was upset at his dancing it says his wife was, much like the reformed. Ecclesiastes 3:4 says there’s a time to dance. Is that just for weddings? We have a spiritual wedding to prepare for. The entire Bible associates dancing with joy Lamentations 5:15, psalms 30:11-12. So joy is associated with dancing. Psalms 100 says to worship God with a joyful noise. It associates joy with worshipping Him in His presence. Psalm 98:4 says to make a joyful noise to Him. Again joy associated with worship and joy again has been associated with dancing. Beware of strict teachers who are Pharisees who strain a gnat. They take a tiny issue and make it a big one and put heavy burdens on people. Don’t listen to rocks my friends unless you want to worship God like a spiritually dead rock. Obey the Bible and dance and don’t listen to these two men who are confused. Bochum and Friel are 100% wrong here.

  • Pslam 149:3 Let them praise Him with dancing…praise Him with tambourine and damce. Psalm 30:11 You turned for me my mourning into dancing to, you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Psalm 150:4 Praise Him with tambourine and dancing. Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess the sister of Aaron, took a timberal in her hand;and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dance. Dance should be a form of worship to God,not to draw attention to ourself.

  • King David danced unto the Lord. If he did it, I’m going to do it. So now! I don’t care what pastor or teacher say. As long as I am not twerking on no one but I’m praising and dancing to God by myself or around other members. It’s not a sin if it’s glorifying Christ and Christ is the center and not myself.

  • HOW MANY SCRIPTURES DO THEY NEED TO PROVE GOD LOVES DANCING IN HIS CHURCH/MIDST!! Exodus 15:20 – And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. Psalms 149:3 – Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. 2 Samuel 6:14 – And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. 1 Chronicles 15:29 – And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart. Psalms 30:11 – Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; Psalms 149:3 – Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. Psalms 150:4 – Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Ecclesiastes 3:4 – A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

  • Can we just have the right perspective on the Kingdom of God, not am dancing or not dancing, eating or not eating & Paul talks about it a lot. Let us love the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength and love our neighbors as ourselves. Let us bear the fruit of the Spirit in our every day. Whether am dancing in church or not dancing is really not what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is about.

  • Don’t let these stoic Cessationist bros brow beat the passion, energy, excitement, and the supernatural power of the Spirit out of you. There’s a reason why the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is the most successful social movement in generations. It’s powered by the Spirit, not by a form of godliness that denies its power.

  • There’s a time and place for dancing. The argument of dancing in church is completely and utterly preposterous. If you were in the presence of God, you would not be dancing. You’d be on your knees and paying him you respect not dancing. Imagine if the high priest was dancing in the Holy of Holies, what do you think would happen to him?

  • I’ll say it again, you can’t pick & choose what is in or out of context in order to fit your denomination/standard. Jesus said “For THOSE” who believe in me will speak in new tongues and cast out demons, lay hands on the sick, and heal them. Joel’s prophecy is still being fulfilled today. Jesus would not give us a powerless gospel here on earth … and by the way, just to clarify with everyone here — Calvinism, Catholicism, Baptist, Mormon, Latter-day Saints – Church service IS NOT what saved me … When I was lost in the wilderness, heavily deep into occult practice, pornographic-rituals, sexual soul ties, automatic writing, it was the VOICE of STREET PREACHERS (David Lynn, Dorre Love, Cleaveland Street Preachers, Gabe the Street Preacher) I heard in the wilderness — not the voice of a pulpit pastor who doesn’t believe in the power of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

  • I personally believe. If you know that you know you have been saved by our Lord Jesus Christ and you believe the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives within side you and you don’t Worship Greatly. Even dance. You might not really believe. I find it very odd to tell someone how to Worship. The Bible teaches us, that them whom have been forgiving much do Worship much.

  • Our Spirit is filled with His Holy Spirit when we dance & praise the Lord. Praise is about exalting His name. Worship is about drawing closer to Him & surrendering. Which a lot of churches have kicked out or cut the praise part out of their services. Nowadays you don’t really hear people shout or sing loud to the Lord, everyone either sings just calm hymns or sings one song or two and a short 20 minute sermon. Church should be a moment of fellowship & praising God and reading the word, not just hearing it. Plus in concerts and sports games there’s always shouting, dancing and cheering…why has the church become so quiet. We need to raise our voice & use our body to praise the Lord. We’re kidding ourselves if we think heaven is quiet. It’s loud. There’s music, praising, dancing… 24/7 worship is going on for our Heavenly Father. If we think heaven is silent and everyone is standing still doing nothing we’re wrong. For a reason satan(lucifer) stole the idea of music and twisted it. Concerts and the club, things that don’t glorify God, are louder and more full of music. This should tell us something or hint something. We have to bring honor & glory to our God. Plus David was the only character by far to defeat a giant, which represents the devil being defeated by Jesus Christ. If David is a symbol of Jesus Christ, and he danced, and God’s word tells us to dance & praise Him, then why should we stay still. David danced out of humility and gratitude. Many churches have become too prideful and far from grateful.

  • You ought not to do anything in worship not prescribed in Scripture. Though the verse used by Todd Friel is in Psalms, we cannot use that verse since that verse is narrative but also in a different covenant. Worship is regulated according to the positive laws God gives to the church in their specific place of redemptive history and covenants. To go back to the Old Testament (a different time of redemptive history and a different covenant) as normative for the church or worship is to add to worship not prescribed in the New Covenant.

  • Twerking and sexual provocative dancing is not allowed in the church (the true church ) anyone who dances in a manor to entice someone to sin is of the devil. We as Christians are not cause a brother or sister to sin and if we do we sin against Christ so if a dance that is provactive in a sexual way or a way to cause someone to lust after then it is a worldly dance then it clearly is worldly.

  • I have been dancing before the lord practically all my life. What about dissecting the scripture that says do unto others as you will have others to do unto you. It’s sad 😮 how a lot of so called Christian treat one another. It’s just evil and ungodly. All throughout scripture Jesus demonstrated in character how to treat others. Amen 🙏

  • When I was in theology study many years ago, there was a story that was shared about well-known theologian of the day who has since gone on to be with the Lord… And it goes like this, he was a guest speaker at a church, he was invited to share the word, and at the cessation and benediction of the services for the day… He went on to observe flags being waived and a guy off to the side who was just hands in the air apparently of praise, but he was hopping around on one leg. Curious about what this guy was doing, he went over and waited until whatever it was he thought he was doing was finished… and politely ask the guy what he was doing? And the guy was genuinely puzzled as if it was natural for him to be doing what he was doing… So, he put a question to a point straight – he asked him if he recalled what the fruits of the spirit were, since he claimed the Lord told him to do it 😏 and the response was telltale, of just about anyone who’s in the spiritual demographic of this guy… They always go through all of them until it gets to the last one – “self-control” The guy looked as though somebody beat him with 20 lb of flour… Self-control is one of the resident attributes that produces a characteristic of the seasoned, mature believer … If it is not, then you believe ‘something else’ and that something else I have going on to describe as “comfort-zone” theology… Whatever makes you feel good for however you living now. But these are the signs of ecumenical deviation and ignorance of the word of God.

  • Psalm 149:3 “Let them praise His name with dancing” We have a hundreds of denominations and every founder says GOD spoke him and this is the way we should worship. I follow JESUS only because all these churches and ministers are flawed and act like they THEE VOICE OF CHRIST but all of them lack LOVE for their enemy or people of different faiths or sexual orientation. It’s okay to say that it is wrong but where is the love of CHRIST?

  • Clergy like Tony Evans and Voddie Tharon Baucham are not known for their prophetic edge. You’ll never see them sing or see them lift their hands. Music and Davidic worship is considered to be emotionalism to them. Hence why ministries like those are not considered Word Of Faith, Pentecostal, Prophetic OR Deliverance ministries. His theological position on dancing actually makes sense for him. However, dancing is over the top now in church. It’s become silly at this point…

  • Let everything that has breathe, praise ye the Lord! We don’t have an ark, we have Christ who is Greater, who gave His Life! Man think they’re God that’s why they take the Glory from God. I will obey God and His Word, not man. And because God has been so Excellent & Good and has saved a wretch like me, I will praise His Holy Name, in song, dance and with a timbral if I want to! “READ THE BIBLE/WORD FOR YOURSELF, EVERYTHING THAT WE NEED TO KNOW, IT’S ALREADY WRITTEN” Psalm 149:3 Let them praise HIS name in the dance: let them sing praises unto HIM with the timbrel and harp.”

  • Obey My Voice Part 2 The Place of Life (Gen 2:9, Gen 3:22, Gen 3:24) Is the foremost in importance (G4413), “the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast” (Mt 25:10) “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. “When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’” (Lk 13:24-30), ie the narrow gate, and “we will travel the wide way that leads to destruction” (Mt 7:13-14) in the abode of contiguity (G2078) in the hind (H310), the domain of the recompense, the Fire. “Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” (Matthew 3:10) “The ones who hear the word and accept it, will bear fruit” (Mk 4:20) And “return to the Lord our God” (Dt 4:30, Jer 3:22) and “Obey His Voice” (Ex 19:2-6) then we will travel “through the fire” (Gen 3:24, Num 31:23, Is 43:2) and with “God’s gifts of blessings” (Genesis 22:18, Dt 28:2) we will “enter the Kingdom of Heaven” (Lk 12:32, Mt 3:2, Mt 4:17, Luke 4:43). People Esteem God So Little “Since all creatures are void, how is it that they can so easily turn a person from God? Is not the soul in its smallest particle of greater worth than heaven and all the creatures? Meister Eckert answers “It is due to the fact that people esteem God so little. If people esteemed God as they should, it would be almost impossible for them ever to fall from grace” ~Meister Eckhart Passion for Creation Pg 83 Hence vision is through the veil “The glories of the face are the rays of the Essence.

  • Is the Trinity Biblical? Let’s Discover the Truth. Highlighting the Oneness of God •\tJohn 17:3: “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” o\tInterpretation: Here, Jesus Himself refers to the Father as “the only true God,” which emphasizes the oneness of God and suggests a distinction between God and Jesus. •\tDeuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.” o\tInterpretation: This Old Testament passage, known as the Shema, is a central declaration of the Jewish faith and is reaffirmed by Jesus (Mark 12:29). It emphasizes the oneness of God, which is a call to worship the Father alone. Verses Showing Jesus’ Subordination to the Father •\tJohn 14:28: “You heard me say, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.” o\tInterpretation: Jesus says the Father is greater than Him, which can be taken as evidence of a hierarchical relationship. This could suggest that worship should be directed to the Father, who is greater. •\t1 Corinthians 15:28: “When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.” o\tInterpretation: Paul speaks of a time when the Son will be subjected to the Father, again implying a distinction and subordination. Some interpret this to mean that ultimate worship should be directed to the Father.

  • As long as the dancing is not sexually provocative or exhibitionistic then there is nothing wrong with dancing before the Lord in praise and worship (Mk.12:30) unless you’re a common or garden prude?!. The dancing should be with decency and decorum and appropriate for the situation/context. Simonline🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🤔🙏😀👍🇮🇱

  • We don’t have an ark… Really? I have a savior who died for me! Psalm 150 The psalmist encourages people to praise God in many ways, including with dancing, trumpets, harps, cymbals, and pipes. Some say this psalm frees people to praise God loudly and creatively, both in times of triumph and in everyday life. Psalm 149 The first part of this psalm conveys a sense of celebration, including praising God with dance, singing with tambourines and harps, and making melody. 2 Samuel 6:14–22 David dances before the Lord with all his might, which some say is an example of surrendering to God in worship. Ecclesiastes 3:4 This verse says, “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance”. Jeremiah 31:13 This verse says, “Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry”. Psalm 30:11 This verse says, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness”.

  • I’m reminded of the song, who’s lyrics are written as follows: “I will dance, i will sing, to be mad for my King, nothing more is hindering this passion in my soul And I’ll become even more undignified than this Some will say it’s foolishness…” It’s a great song. I was whooping and hollering because it was a great time in praising God. It’s hard finding a church that does that today.

  • So…there weren’t any “churches” (the building) to enter until almost 300 years after the death and resurrection of Christ. We want to make this “a normal activity” by having SO many SO frequent instances of people having a reason to jump and bounce and dance in joy for the Lord that it happens all the time….but that is not the weird constant possibly planned, possibly scripted, ritualized cough “dancing in the Spirit” cough that happens in a lot of “jumpin’ and jivin’ ” churches…. Or…as a friend of mine said, “If the spirit within you makes you jump for joy all the time in your church service, but doesn’t also make you live more holy in your daily activities, that’s not the Holy Spirit…that’s just ADHD.”

  • It’s a very serious point…. Anyone Drunk in the spirit of the world. Dancing is so different to one who dances a jig of joy, after finding God or salvation. If they love the Lord and express it then its about intent. Not Dancing in a hedonistic or drunken state. Like music… Some is full of singing and beautiful notes. Then there is THRASH metal with violent words… It is ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE & INTENT.. If Jesus is the ❤ foremost in our hearts, then a little dance with his love in mind is fine I am sure. ❤🙏🏼🥹

  • 1Praise(a) the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints. 2Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 3Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. 4For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;

  • We are incredibly blessed to have the Word. Its our daily need. But please understand that you need to Listen to God’s voice; you need to hear God’s voice to obey it. Listen to the Author’s voice. Trust the one who gives the answers more than the answers you waiting for. Obey God’s voice. “Hear O Israel…” “My sheep hear…”

  • Habakkuk 2:20 KJV But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. When David was dancing, he wasn’t dancing physically, he was dancing in the spirit. He was dancing in the spirit because he was carrying a linen ephod. My point is if you want to worship God, you can’t dance because there’s a way God wants us to worship and praise.

  • That’s the problem with taking one verse and forming an opinion. Yes it is good to worship and praise the Lord God. Psalms 149:3 and 150:4 tells us to praise the Lord in the dance. There’s about 29 verses concerning dancing before the Lord. The old testament Jews knew how to praise and worship God. The word dance, dancing ect. Has 6 different words for the dance meaning things from, to dance, to twirl to twist, to dance in a circular motion. To leap, jump, to spring about wildly or for joy, and to skip. When done decently, it’s a beautiful thing to praise God this way. Believe me, if the Holy Ghost ever touches you, or when God has done a miraculous thing for you, this mortal body won’t be able to contain it, it’s going to move.

  • We dont have a king?????? What!!!! JESUS is the King of kings!!! I’ll dance for my king wherever I want !!! If u can believe mr Voddie that you body will get pulled from the ground and all the saints ever!!!when the trumpet sounds ..and can’t get excited about that..ur wood is wet!! And that ur have eternal life in Jesus…u just ain’t gonna get excited and in heaven your sure not gonna be to happy…cause there is gonna be some shouting and dancing…up there

  • I mean when Voddie talks about David being really excited about the Ark.. shouldn’t we be MORE excited about Jesus? I agree, not normative part of worship but.. It’s not a sin to and it might be.. a joyous way of expressing worship for some people. If I were to be natural and express joy, dancing is more likely than singing. Singing isn’t a way I express joy at all. I never get so joyful that I just start spontaneously singing. But I might get so joyful I start spontaneously dancing, and it could be at an occasion that .. moves other people to sing it’d be more likely to move me to move.

  • Any pentacostal will tell you how the people dancing in The Spirit can close their eyes, dance in a crowd and not one of them touches the other. I’ve seen folks miss a punch by 1cm. That’s biblical. I’m not for the charasmatic church dances though. There is a difference. The bible literally says that God creates the dancing (Psalm 30:11). So it is biblical, but only when Godly

  • I respect your views, and I say this not to hurt you, but the Bible is a dead letter without direct revelation from God. Reading it, understanding it from a place of reasoning, and learning from other people’s interpretations of the Bible will continue to lead you to teach what you do. It is important to feel the love of God, and when we grow up, our parents are happy to see us happy, you don’t even need the Bible to see how a father would feel to see his child overjoyed to spend quality time with Him. Love God, is more important than sacrifices you make for people around you so you can serve Him. Learn to love Jesus, and the Bible will open up with the presence of the Holy Spirit. Ask God to begin here. Rules should never override the love of God, laws of the world, opinions, and each other’s truth should never override the love of God and the way we love each other. Above all, no one will change the Bible’s verses in other parts. Be blessed, always before our Lord

  • To say David didn’t dance in church isn’t right. Yes David did indeed dance in church. Yes he was outside, but he was in front of the people. The Ekklayseeah. A religious congregation. God’s people. That’s the church, not a building. The building is not the church. The people who go to the building are the church. The called out ones. Yes David certainly did dance before the church. Dancing before the Lord should be normal. Because of God’s greatness, his Mercy and love to save a wretch like me.

  • ♦”Religion began when the first scoundrel met the first fool.” ♦”Only fools believe & revere the supernatural myths just bc a book claims itself to be the holy truth.” ♦”The delusional religious fools are cocksure and the intelligent full of doubt.” ♦”The religious believe by the millions what only lunatics could believe on their own.” ♦”It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” ♦”It’s difficult to free fools from the chains they revere.”

  • We read this in, Exodus 15:20, And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. Exo 15:21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. False prophets never dance in the Spirit.

  • Well when the last pastor I had started singing and dancing to I like big butts in his sermon series “The Song of Solomon”…..I knew we had a problem and ran! My adult grandson wanted to come to church with me that day, and then he left after that worldly expedition. I couldn’t explain to him and I shouldn’t have had to. Pastors, if you’re going to teach a series, make sure it’s one on the Bible and not worldly concept.🙏✌️

  • I get what he’s saying, while David danced before the Lord, it wasn’t within a “church” setting. In the New Testament, there’s no scripture that supports dancing in church. We’re told to sing hymns and spiritual songs, but no mention of dancing. Interesting discussion, I’ve never really thought about this before.

  • I believe God was very pleased with David who danced before the Lord. I believe strongly that our shout, running and dancing before the Lord pleases him and glorifies him. Say what you want to, but if we could get a glimpse of hell for about 5 seconds and realize that Jesus died for our sins, I will dance and shout and praise God. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What bothers God is people who go to ball games and shout and cheer and get loud for their favorite team, but they go to church and sit on a pew expecting God to move them.. Um. Excuse me? Who are we that God has gotta move us? We the church get together to magnify and move God. David was a shadow of things to come. He was the original dancer. The devil cannot create, he can only counterfeit. He stole our dance from the beginning and made it sensual. Now you have clubs and bars and pole dancers. That comes from Satan. We, the people of God are the true dancers. No where in scripture does God ever condemn David for dancing. His wife Michal had a problem with him dancing before the people and later she goes barren. A good lesson here is to not mock the true worshippers of God. He deserves the shout, the dance, the praises, the worship. You don’t get to dictate how I give God my praise and worship. He’s been too good to me to let your criticisms stop me from rejoicing.

  • People are going to hell, and “Christians” are discussing / making theology out of not dancing in church as a means of worship God! Yet we read how God responded to Queen Michal who had chastised King David. It is not right to make a law for God’s people that is based on your own lifestyle and desire. We will continue to dance to God with joy and gratitude, in and out of church. We don’t need to go to a club to have fun, we don’t need alcohol. Just a praise music and we got our hands up, and we are dancing to the Lord. God saved me from an eternal hell and an evil devil. He gave me children, healed me and my children, set me free, prospered me, and does life with me. I beg to differ but I will NOT contain my joy and gratitude.

  • Angelictigrette, do you dance because others are,,when you worship almighty god it should be done in spirit and truth, the daughters of israel danced, king david danced but only in the holy spirit, and certainly not the boisterous, irrevererant way it is done in some worldly minded churches.,those were reverant and almighty god oriented dances, not jumping about like apes showing off all the worldly actions, dressing and unholy exhibits of the world,…….let no man deceive you……ephesians 5 snd verse 6…..there is a big difference in godly dancing and worldly boisterous, self glorifying dance, let not satan deceive you.

  • Also, Bodie said that we don’t have a king that is also incorrect because Yeshua Hamashiach (Jesus Christ) is our king. nothing saddens me worse than people who have public platforms and misunderstand, or misinterpret the word of God. The Bible also tells us in all they get and get understanding and to study to show that self approved and rightly divide the word of truth.

  • Even though they somewhat mocked and picked at it, and as hard as it was for him to say it, I’m glad he told the truth. Family, I don’t dance in church but there was also a time I never cried out shouted amen… Until I had something to cry, shout, or say amen about. I never again turned a cynical eye or thought to those who do it Sunday after Sunday. Just because you don’t feel the need to doesn’t mean others shouldn’t as well. What does scripture teach is the key. Now if this Baptist bunch would stop ignoring tongues as a gift.. Obviously with all I just said there can be disorder which ought to be stopped and there are also those who just want attention (wolves in sheep clothing). 2

  • A Davidic dance is a pattern of movements that glorify the LORD, much like a cultural dances of many countries. In the Messianic congregation, at the appropriate time a group of men and women move in a coordinated or orchestrated way that is peculiar to the dance that David performed before the LORD. There is no “do your own thing” kind of dancing seen in orgies, parties, rock music pecular to pagan practices. Customarily, in churches, dancing is not part of the worship. The holy rollers is far out, an outlier form of worship.

  • Dancing while worshiping is good. But with due respect to liturgical dancers, I find dancing in front of the congregation worldly, self-centred, a distraction and unnecessary. I just don’t feel like dancing in front of everyone is giving reverence to God. To me, it’s showcasing your talent, entertaining the audience and not giving God the stage. When you listen to woshipers sing, you can close your eyes and your heart gives praises to God. When you watch a liturgical dance, your eyes and mind are focussed on the dancers. It’s taking away the pedestal away from God. That’s my opinion.

  • Let’s say you are invited to go meet the King of England, will you be dancing like crazy in front of him? I think most people wouldn’t. Why would you do that in front of the King of the Universe? If you see all the prophets that were in the presence of God felt like they were dying, yet people today say that the Lord’s presence is there when they dance at church. We are supposed to be like a body, and nowadays there’s a lot of disorder at the church. It’s like a body that does different things with each limb. The dances that people do nowadays at church are more like the things done by pagan worship rituals like Umbanda or even the new age people.

  • We need the ark of the covenant and a king so we can dance in worship. Got it. I get it we need decorum but dang they must have such a boring service. We need to be grounded in scripture yes 1 Corinthians 14 is clear. It seems these calvanist’s experience of faith is so intellectual and sterile. It’s as if reverence and enjoyment are contradictions to these people. As if laughter and fun happens outside of service. Their style of worship is from maybe 2-300 years ago why not sing the songs sung by the church when they met in homes and caves? We could argue using an orchestra of renaissance instruments is unbiblical. And to answer the question why do we want to make it normative because isn’t only referred to in the 2 Samuel passage dance as worship is referred to in the psalms.

  • Music can move you, but lacking self control and distracting others is not good. Worship means “to serve” and our singing is serving God through praise. It also is meant to encourage us to live holy lives filled with good works. Music encourages, teaches, praises, and moves you into good actions and thoughts.

  • Pharisee. I’ll never listen to this guy again on a clip. Nobody can tell anybody to how to worship their Lord. You shouldn’t be looking around and worrying about anybody else’s worship anyway. You should be worshipping the Lord with your eyes closed and hands raised anyways. How dare someone tell someone they shouldn’t be dancing for or with God.

  • Sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised by your content. I often run into articles with taglines like this, and if I click on it I either get a “CHRISTIANS SHOULD NEVER!” or “Yes, all Christians should” type of article. I love that recognizing what the verse does and doesn’t say is the first priority. However, I love that it wasn’t outright condemned or approved. I find with so many of these issues you can’t really take a NO or a YES position. So often the answer should be, “it depends”. There’s a danger in so many things we do as Christians, and dancing would be a great example. Two people could dance in church, one can be doing it because they are experiencing the joy of the lord in real time, while another is doing it because they’re just having a good time (the same as they might at a concert). One is good and possibly appropriate (depending on a bunch of factors) while the other would always be inappropriate, and the only difference between the two is happening in the heart.

  • I think the main problem with so much of Christianity is not the context of what is written in the bible and we must also realise that there are many different versions. Most churches forget or aren’t thinking about the many translations of the original texts and the culture at the time it was written. Many of the texts are written to a specific place or people and when that occurs the culture at that time of the people who it was written for is very important. Then the entire thing is translated into Greek and then into other languages and as most people are aware there is an awful lot lost in translation. Western culture needs to stop looking at the bible from a Hellenistic perspective and begin to see it from an Asian perspective. If you want a simple answer to questions like dancing in church then watch what Jewish culture in Shul is like. I think too many Christians forget that Yeshua is, was and always will be a Jew first. He did what Jewish people/ believers still do today. So look to Israel.

  • Truth of the matter is praise teams/drill teamsand actually choirs are not biblical in the New Testament church…you will find no mention of First Ladies or calling a man reverend…so many things that we have added that weren’t authorized…when we take our preconceived ideas and emotions out of it only then can we get to the truth

  • The Bible also says in the book of acts that James stood up and said this is as the prophet Joel said, and proceeded to proclaim the prophet Joel specifically talking about reestablishing the tent of David now what did they do at the tent of David they dance before the Lord there was no courts there was musicians it was praise and worship 24 hours so that’s a new testament example literally pointing back to that exact moment

  • Psalms 150; “Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: Praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: Praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: Praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

  • Psalm 149 says, Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, His praise in the ASSEMBLY of HIS FAITHFUL people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker, ler the people of Zion be glad in their King Let them praise His Name with DANCING and make music to Him with timbrel and harp For the LORD takes delight in His people, He crowns the humble with Victory….. As long as we’re dancing unto the LORD, saints, let’s dance our clothes off. But more importantly let us live lives worthy of our calling

  • So read the chapter. David had disobedient to God by not having a Levite carry the ark back to Jerusalem. Because of disobedience Uzzah who was caring it, lost his balance, touch the ark of the covenant, which symbolizes the presence of God, and His majesty. By Uzzahs and lack of fear of the Lord God and disobedience to His commands, God struck him dead. God is Holy, pure no one unclean, unrepentant can stand before Him. David knew better and you read on down further in the chapter, and you find that when the Ark was finally taken into the city of Jerusalem, which is even today called the city of David he was rejoicing to have the presence of Almighty God in Jerusalem. If you’ve ever had the anointing or the experience of the true holy God, standing in front of his presence, you are not able to control your joy. When the lame man was healed by Jesus, he got up and he was jumping and leaping and dancing with the joy of the Lord. Do you want to discuss about? Should you dance in church do the legal thing and fight over it but that’s not the reason why we dance in HIS presence, It’s about standing Gods pleasure when He touches you.

  • There’s dancing in church and there’s dancing church. There’s dancing in church because you’re praising God’s greatness and your body can’t help but move and then there’s dancing in church to draw attention to yourself. Everything must be done to the glory of God. Anything else and you need to find your seat…

  • I believe the issue is the requirement of it as a sign of “true” praise. Thats the problem. I mean we have renamed a whole genre of music as “worship music”. Is that kind of music and performance the right way the Lord is worshiped? I think an emotional experience does not equate to how much praise or worship is going on.

  • So…….nowhere in scripture does it say dancing in church is disorderly. That’s the thing of focus. Dancing in church can be very orderly. I am part of the dance ministry at church and we worship in an organized and orderly way that honors the Lord. No one is obligated to dance in church. But let everything you do be done in decency and in order with reverence unto the Lord.

  • I really dislike it when people try to impose their personal preferences onto the Bible. Just because you don’t care for dancing in a worship service doesn’t make it wrong for others to do. Too many people will start with a conclusion (such as dancing is bad) and then cherry pick verses out of context to make the Bible say something it was never meant to. That is a practice that can lead to some very dangerous and heretical beliefs.

  • Thou shall not dance saith thou lord!! David was a man that sinned a mortal man yet heard from God!! Was a king anointed and was a man after Gods own heart!! So I remind Calvinist that they also believe that The outpouring of Holy Spirit was only back in David’s time Spirit does not work any more the gifts ! Thus the stance here! I would tell Calvinist if Holy Spirit moves on you you could and will dance or do a waltz or a break dance because my bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength and obviously joy is too much for Calvinist

  • We do the have a King? And His name is Jesus? And preacher i am 69 years old and when i dance before the Lord people weep and are delivered and even healed? And i rejoice when a child or whoever worships my king! Ive seen so many non spirit filled ministers like you before and they dont know what to do when the Holy Spirit moves it scares then and if it gets on them they will try to hide? Today we have so many false worshippers and false ministers who love dancing worldly in the churches and they dont worship the One True God? You will know them by there fruit?

  • The headline and the article don’t remotely match. The headline and still of the article suggest that this article shows that dancing in church isn’t biblical, but it doesn’t remotely do that. All it does is say that this verse about David can’t be used in a prescriptive way to say that we should all be doing what David did. If you want to be taken seriously be more honest with your article headlines!!!

  • I see nothing wrong with dancing during worship. I really don’t know if it’s biblical. I can see both sides of the argument. I do know that some of the dancing I’ve seen is definitely not worship but a worldly show. When you come with lights and a fog machine, your looking for an emotional response not God. Jesus said He was looking for people to worship in truth and spirit not song and dance.

  • The Ark represented the presence of the Lord. When the presence of the Lord comes into a place, SOME people rejoice. David danced—we don’t read of others dancing with him. When the Lord fills a place, it WILL touch your emotions! You may weep. You may shout for joy. You may do a little dance. You may say “Hallelujah!” over and over. The Lord touches ALL parts of us. Mind, body, soul, emotions, mind, spirit, etc. Some people (like John MacArthur) was to keep Jesus away from our emotions and the such. No, when He shows up His glory comes with Him. Whether a still, small voice…or fire on the mountain, something is going to happen. On the Day of Pentecost they thought the disciples were drunk. But you don’t think someone is drunk just because they are speaking in another language. And then…read about the angel that appeared to the parents of Samson. Something incredible took place….
