Elvarg, a chromatic dragon, has a ranged dragonfire attack that is not vulnerable to dragonbane weapons. She can be fought in the Nightmare Zone after the quest is completed. Elvarg is near immune to magic at mid-range, but also defensive against ranged attacks and has abnormally strong anti-fire potions.
Players can defeat Elvarg with very low combat levels using rings of recoil, but extreme care must be taken to keep anti-fire protection and full. Equipping an anti-dragonfire shield and bringing several anti-dragonbreath pots can help prevent Elvarg’s fire breath for as long as possible. If a player chooses to battle without an anti-dragon shield, Elvarg’s dragonfire can deal up to 65 damage. Members can drink a dose of antifire potion to reduce Elvarg’s attack damage.
Elvarg is a green dragon considerably stronger than her usual kind and is the dragon that players must kill in the Dragon Slayer quest in the dungeon below. To successfully hit Kamil and Fareed with magic, use fire spells, while Elemental spells from the Ancient Magicks work. Elvarg is located in a tuny underground spot on a mountain-like area on Crandor, and teleporting out, grabbing more food, and returning before fully regenerating its body is recommended.
Elvarg attacks in two ways: a standard melee attack and a magic dragonfire attack that must be blocked with an anti-dragon shield obtained from Duke Horacio. Unlike other dragons, Elvarg’s dragonfire can lower the player’s combat stats, including prayer, if not protected against.

Can God Slayer Magic hurt dragons?
The concept of God Slayer Magic emerged as a means to defeat Godlike warriors, such as Dragon Slayers. However, this magic is not effective against Dragons due to its use of elemental magic that cannot be consumed by Dragon Slayers. This advanced human type magic is not capable of harnessing the true power of a Dragon, which is the true way to defeat Dragons.
Exceptions to this rule include individuals with high levels of Magic Power, such as Silver, who holds Demon Slaying Magic, which has been confirmed to kill demons. High magic power, such as Silver and Gildarts, can win against a Dragon even without DS Magic. In essence, God Slaying Magic is a form of arrogance, as those with it believe they can kill Gods but are unable to beat Dragon Slayers, Jura, or other Dragons. Even Demon Slayers perform better than Gold Slayers.
What is Malenia’s biggest weakness?

The super antifire potion prevents all damage and stat drain, except for Prayer points, which are still drained every attack. Every dragonfire attack deducts 10 of the Player’s remaining Prayer points. Elvarg was eventually abandoned by her creators and made her home in the underground system underneath the island.
Do you need 33 magic for Dragon Slayer?
To obtain the third map piece, you must kill Wormbrain, a weak goblin in Port Sarim’s jail. You can either mage him, range him, or pay him 10, 000 gp. To range or mage him, you need to bring enough runes to perform the magic spell “Telekinetic Grab” (level 33 magic required). If you don’t walk, you can talk to him and pay him 10, 000 gp.
Next, you need 6 steel bars and 3 planks to build 90 steel nails. Get a hammer and 2, 000 gp and go to Port Sarim to find Klarense, a sailor who will sell you his boat for 2, 000 gp. Pay him 2, 000 gp and repair the hole in the stip using planks.
In Draynor, find Ned, the person who makes ropes for you, and ask him to be your captain and help sail you to Crandor. He will agree and tell you to meet him on your ship.
Can you fight Galvek again?
After the quest, players can fight Galvek again through the Pool of Dreams in the Myths’ Guild. Deaths are considered safe, and the player will be returned outside the pool regardless of victory or death. Galvek has 1, 200 health and four phases with 300 Hitpoints. He can attack with all three forms of combat and throws a dragonfire ball in the air, which will instantly kill the player if they don’t move away. Standing next to it will deal 50 times more damage.
Galvek can use two types of normal dragonfire: a pink variant that disables prayers on impact and a normal orange one. His dragonfire is of a higher tier, and a shield that can resist dragonfire and an antifire potion can block most of the damage.
Can you kill Elvarg again?
In order to overcome Dragon Slayer, it is necessary to gather the requisite items and engage in a subsequent confrontation. Once the Dragon Slayer has been vanquished, it is not possible to engage in combat with her again. Still works Nov 2020. You don’t have to wait for hp bar to disappear, if you can afford to take a few hits then you can get a feel for how long you have to wait before you can flinch again, its not far off bar disappearing time but itll shorten it a lot over time when you’re doing it with really low stats.
Thanks 🙂 finally got through all the f2p quests now, this vid helped a ton. After dying once I figured out that you should disable auto-retaliate and also change the NPC attack options in controls menu. Doing it without that made flinching extremely awkward, and eventually I got caught in a loop where I was running back to safe spot but got hit every time with the fireball so my character would run back out lol
just FYI. you cannot safespot/flinch elvarg with mage atleast, when you have major ping/lag. elvarg will just hit you right away because the character wont atk on the safespot but rather move run out, atk then get hit and run back each time. elvarg was in correct position and auto retaliate was off, was using mage. everything is identical in positioning and maneuvering as shown in the articles for safespotting elvarg in this exact spot. either my shit is fucked or lag dictates the nature of things.
thats so cheap. Just use Anchovy Pizza with Swordfish. You can stack the HP together without losing more than 1 turn to hit. Use a strength potion when you enter battle to up your max hit. Make sure you use a rune sword. Yes a rune sword (not longsword) because its as fast as the scimitar and dragons are weak to stab.
When I was doing DS and it was time to kill Elvarg, I was really prepped and stressed. When I arrived, there was a guy fighting the dragon so I just waited politely. Then, when the dragon was really low… the guy died. I was like ok, well I’ll try next then. I smacked it once and it died. It was still low from the previous player :DD
The first time i completed dragon slayer, as a kid, was the most amazing feeling i had in gaming until that point in my life. Because i remember my dad telling me, i could only have membership if i completed every F2P quest first. I remember standing in Falador West bank, all of my rune gear equipped, and called my dad over to see i had done it. He stayed true to his word, qnd when i walked through the gates of taverly for the first time, it was a whole new world. I then proceeded to spend months of my time, fishing in Catherby, trading raw lobsters for rune axes, selling them for profit on trade worlds in seers village since everyone would WC there. THEN buy magic logs off people farming exp at the trees who didnt want the logs for a steal, and finally sell those back to people at Seers Bank lmao. Thanks for the fun lil nostalgia trip 🙂
I remember the preparation I did when I first did this quest and how scared I was to fight elvarg or go anywhere near the volcano fishing for food before going into it good times man good times and that iconic gear set up brings it all home :’) I remember when I first got the anti dragon shield I felt like I was the Chad reppin the wizards robes and rune scimi peak fashion

I got back into osrs like a year ago, playing strictly f2p at first. Dragon Slayer at the time was by far the hardest quest i’d ever done in any game. Elvarg kicked my ass like five times before I could beat her. I’ve been playing on a new account for about a month, and this one is a member’s account. I went to do dragon slayer and blew throuhgh it in like 2 minutes thanks to prayer pots. Member’s is so worth it.
I played OSRS obsessively for a short while and i beat every F2p quest and got all the way up to Dragon Slayer (no guides). One day, I simply gave up until perusal this article some years later. I can’t believe I had so much trouble getting through melvar’s maze, I had no idea what to do I didn’t even try to fight the monsters :,(
Skillers, Pvmer, PKers, Questers. Long ago the 4 nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the PKers attacked. Only the avatar, master of all 4 styles of play could stop them, but when the world needed him the most, he vanished. Its the year 2021 and my buddy and I, Discovered the new avatar, A quester named J1mmy. And although his questing skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. But I Believe J1mmy can save the world.
my first account got hacked when I was like 11. my second main account is transferred to RS3 even though oldschool is life. Both those accounts had dragon slayer done. But perusal this I do not fucking remember how long of a quest this is and I remember the dragon being kinda easy. I recently got back into the game and im only up to like lvl 44 now and was looking forward to this quest. looks like a bitch.
I know this is old, but I found it funny when he dropped the event diamonds due to the events not being in the game. While at the same moment having NOTED symbols. In the base game you could only cert specific items in draynor, holy symbols and notes not among them. (editing to add, yes I know it’s purely for entertainment)
I don’t think this article quite does Dragon Slayer justice, like, the world building in Melzar’s Maze is amazing. There are a ton of bookshelves that tell his story and how he went insane because of Elvarg, and all the other horrible destruction she caused. And also getting ned motivated for a trip was pretty cute too
Bro the first time I did this quest I didn’t open the secret passageway and I died three times. So I had to build that boat three times, that was a major pain in the ass and I wasn’t even an ironman! I could not imagine failing so hard like I did as an ironman. I think I would have given up on the game for a few years before trying again lol.
