The Shadow Clone Technique is a clone technique created by Tobirama Senju, which allows users to create one or more copies of themselves. When created, Shadow Clones split their chakra in half and when they disapear, most of the chakra is returned. However, the amount of chakra returned depends on the user’s efficiency at chakra control. In the Naruto vs Pein fight, Naruto’s clone had already gathered Sage Chakra but didn’t transform into Sage Mode. This suggests that the “body” of the clone is a chakra construct in physical form, and anything excreted is just chakra. Any unused chakra left in the clone when it is dispersed, as well as any memories it obtained, are returned to the user near instantly.
Shadow clones return their chakra to the user when they dissipate, even when they forcefully dissipate. Neji had trouble fighting Naruto during the Chuunin exams because the Byakugan can only return what chakra they have. Shadow clones usually disperse once they are struck hard enough, but they have been shown capable of enduring injuries for a time. When a clone’s task is completed, it can disperse itself or be dispersed by its user. Once dispersed, the clone’s experiences and remaining chakra are transferred back to the user.
When a shadow clone is destroyed, its remaining chakra and memories return to the original. This is how Naruto was able to increase his chakra. Each Shadow Clone has 33 of the user’s total chakra. Kakashi confirmed that only a Shadow Clone divides chakra and transfers it back to the original. If a random shadow clone disappears, it will bring Naruto one to two clones.
The chakra is equally divided between all Shadow Clones, so when one dies or disappears, the original will get the chakra they had left. Under the surface, the user’s chakra is distributed equally with each Shadow Clone.
📹 Explaining Shadow Clones
Short video today, but one that I enjoyed making nonetheless. Today I’ll be giving a short explanation of the Shadow Clone …
Why do Shadow Clones disappear?
Shadow clones can disperse after being struck hard enough, but can also endure injuries. Once a task is completed, the clone’s experiences and remaining chakra are transferred back to the user. This makes shadow clones useful for intelligence gathering, as they can gather information without endangering the user and disperse when finished. They can also recon an area and disperse when they find the target’s location. Naruto uses shadow clones to accelerate his nature transformation training, and Kakashi Hatake discovered that they can accelerate training periods.
By training alongside one shadow clone for one hour, the user gains two hours of training experience once the clone disperses. However, due to the chakra required to create one shadow clone and the arduous nature of training, only Naruto can train this way. This shortcut can lead to mental fatigue, requiring regular breaks.
Can sharingan see shadow clones?
The Shadow Clone technique is a popular technique used by the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, in the Japanese live-action TV series Saiyūki, based on the 16th-century Chinese classical novel, Journey to the West. This technique is a symbol of avoiding loneliness and is used by various characters in the series. In Naruto, the Sharingan is used to distinguish clones from the original, which contradicts the manga and other anime episodes. In the anime, an ostrich named Condor appears to use this technique, but in reality, it is just other ostriches.
In Kakashi Hiden, Naruto creates shadow clones with a one-handed seal using a cross with his left hand’s index and middle finger. In the anime, the Genjutsu World’s Hinata Hyūga can also make shadow clones. In Naruto Shippūden episode 230, Naruto claims that his clones can dream.
The hand-seal for the Shadow Clone technique is similar to the one predominantly used by the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, in the manga and anime. The technique is used to create replicas of oneself against enemies in battle, and the clones can last indefinitely since the ruse was never discovered. The technique is also used in various other anime and manga episodes to explore the concept of shadow cloning and its symbolism.
Can Naruto make 10,000 Shadow clones?
The vast chakra reserves of Naruto enable him to generate over 1, 000 shadow clones, with each clone having an equally distributed chakra.
How many shadow clones can Boruto make?
Boruto has a limit of four clones, which is sufficient for battle strategy and writing purposes. He cannot be a Naruto using 1000 clones. How many shadow clones can Naruto make after losing Kurama?
Naruto is capable of creating 20-25 clones with a 4x increase on the lower end, due to the fusion of greater amounts of chakra with the chakra of both Kurama and Uzumaki. Irrespective of the scale in question, Naruto is still capable of creating 100 clones, with a greater number of potential outcomes available depending on the activation of Sage Mode.
Does Shadow clone chakra return?
Kakashi verified that Shadow Clones merely partition and then transfer chakra back to the source, dividing both strength and willpower in a uniform manner.
Can Boruto make 1,000 clones?
The capacity of Naruto to generate shadow clones represents a notable divergence from that of Boruto, given that he is capable of producing thousands of such clones, whereas Boruto is limited to creating only four.
What is Naruto’s clone limit?
The Shadow Clone Technique is a jutsu that allows users to create one or more copies of themselves, with their chakra evenly divided between themselves and their clones. This rapid depletion of chakra reserves can be dangerous, and only jōnin-level individuals can safely use the standard Shadow Clone Technique. The Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, which creates hundreds of clones, is unsafe to the point of being forbidden. Naruto Uzumaki, with access to the Nine-Tails chakra, can create hundreds of clones without worry.
Shadow clones are physically real, possessing the same clothing, damage, and transformations as the user at the time of creation. Most tools and weaponry are copied, but certain chakra constructs and complicated technology won’t be duplicated. They are visually identical and possess the same chakra as the user, making them indistinguishable from their original. Madara Uchiha can identify shadow clones using his Rinnegan.
Can Naruto still make 1000 Shadow Clones?
The Shadow Clone Technique in Naruto Shinden: Parent and Child Day is a unique skill that allows Naruto to create a large number of clones at once. The regular version typically produces five clones, while the Multiple version can create hundreds or even thousands. Naruto uses the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, but only manages to create two due to exhaustion. The large number of clones created for this technique is mostly used offensively, overwhelming opponents with numerous attacks.
Naruto also uses the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique to create the Wind Release: Rasengan, completing years of training in a matter of days. He later uses the technique through the Shinobi Gauntlet and against Deepa alone.
How long do Naruto’s Shadow clones last?
The lifespan of a shinobi’s shadow clone is contingent upon the quantity of chakra utilized and the rate of consumption. In the case of Naruto’s shadow clone, it is conceivable that it could persist for an extended period, potentially spanning multiple days.
Now that I think about it, Naruto’s shadow clones could explain his power creep. Think about it, everytime he battled in the series, all the way from the first episode, he was of course getting better and stronger, just like any normal person would do after a fight. However, Naruto was basically using an experience multiplier every single time he fought. Every. Single. Time.
I had the understanding that the “shadow clone jutsu” was fundamentally different from the “clone jutsu” because of its advanced (jonin) level. The clone jutsu that all of the students did for the graduation exam was an illusion type of clone, whereas the clones that Naruto would come to master after learning from the forbidden scroll were “shadow clones” that were actual flesh and blood. For instance, Sakura’s clones at 0:44 would be the less advanced “clones”. Although I’ve always found this concept to be a bit abstract, it lends some support to the apparently impressiveness of Naruto’s jutsu: during the Chunin exams finals, when Naruto faced Neji, (at least in the anime) the gatekeeper Chunin (the one with the cloth over his nose) was suprised that Naruto was able to use the jonin level jutsu. Anyway, I figured that was what Swagkage was going to be explaining in part, but since it wasn’t I’d like to know of anyone else’s understanding of the clone jutsu that refutes or supports my own. #NetManners
There’s also the difference between the relatively safer Shadow Clone Jutsu, and the much more risky Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu, since the latter makes many more clones, and thus for individuals with lower chakra reserves, can put them in mortal risk just performing it. Although I do want to point out one thing I believe you forgot to mention here, and that’s Shadow Clones’ use for espionage. Since the clones seem to have an unlimited range, can be dispelled at will, and all information and experience the clone gathered shows up in the user’s mind moments later, it’s an excellent tool for nearly instant transmission of information, passing along messages, etc., especially across long distances or different planes (which is shown in the fight with Kaguya). It’s like the Mind Transfer Technique in that, while it can be great in battle, it’s really best used as a means of spying and secure transmission of information.
The Shadow Clone Jutsu is the very reason why Naruto became so powerful, able to perform jutsu that take years to master. This is due to the fact that Naruto gain the clone’s experience when the clone is released. He also have the memories of the clone, so they are instant messengers. To tell Naruto something they just have to disappear and Naruto will know it from the clone’s memories.
This is why I love Naruto above all anime protagonists. He has a special and unique ability in contrast to power through ones. In any other anime the clone jutso would be the ability of a rival or an antagonist, but not Naruto.. Which is why I rank him higher than most protagonists cause he also has to use his brain alot rather than just fist his way through victory
“This chakra deficient doesn’t actually affect the physical abilities of the Shadow Clones” more people need to realize this when discussing Shadow Clones. It can potentially limit what jutsu and other techniques are available to the user and their clones, but anything they can still do is going to be just as powerful as normal.
If I recall in the beginning of the series: Shinobi are taught a basic “Clone” jutus, which Naruto fails to be able to do, however he steals the sacred/evil scroll thing and learns the “Forbidden” Shadow Clone technique no problem. Now if I recall from previous articles/theories/discussions/mentions in the series: The main difference is that Clones created using “Clone Jutsu” and Clones created using “Shadow Clone” Jutsu differ in 2 major areas: 1. Shadow Clones pass on any experience and knowledge they obtain when they return to the host, Clones do not. And 2. Shadow Clones are independent of the user, allowing unique strategies in combat since you don’t have to “pre-program” them like regular Clones. Correct me if I’m wrong on this, but just thought I’d mention it since you didn’t really cover this in the article when you talked about how there are a multidude of variations on this jutsu, but you did show Sakura who uses “Clone Jutsu” in the montage. Anyway, thanks for reading, have a nice day.
I just wanted to add that if shadow clones get too far they do become unstable and dispelled themselves. Only reason naruto’s clones could go that far out in shipuuden was because he made them while in bijuu mode which apparently makes naruto more powerful and can maintain clone stability over a wider range.
I’ve always wondered what the difference between the different type of clone techniques were. The lightning clone can shock enemies when it dies, but other than that I can’t remember anything that differentiates them or makes them advantageous. Is there an upside to using a water clone instead of a shadow clone, or vice versa, with all the different types of clones?
Swag I love your reviews. been flipping through all of them. i saw you did a review of Shadow Clones… But i was wondering if you had anything comparing ALL the cloning Jutsu in general. Shadow clone pro/con vs Water clone vs wood clone etc. as they do seem to have some subtle differences. also if Tobirama invented shadow clones… was that a version of other clone techniques or do all of the other clone techniques copy shadow clone? anyway just thought it would be a good vid.
Also fun fact, the Shadow Clone technique isn’t the forbidden technique. It’s the Multi Shadow Clone technique that is. a regular Shadow Clone technique has a hard limit on the number of clones able to be summoned at a time. The Multi Shadow Clone technique does not. The regular technique is just a B rank Ninjutsu only taught to Jonin, though Boruto also knows it somehow. The Multi version is the one Naruto learned. Because it;s far too easy to just even accidentaly create too many clones and die instantly from the depleted chakra.
We never see them used in this way, but Shadow Clones are BROKEN in terms of reconnaissance. They could go as far as possible into enemy lines, gather as much intel, and you wouldn’t have to worry about your scouts being captured or killed, stopping you from getting the info, because they just get dispelled and you get the intel anyway, and there’s nothing your enemy could do to stop that.
A couple of counterpoints to the article that I noticed before. When the Third Hokage fought Orochimaru, his Shadow Clone was able to take damage and not die, seemingly through willpower. He also made a jutsu sign and his clones acted at the same time he did. They could’ve just already knew his plan, but it might also be that he could communicate with them somehow.
You forget the most convinient draw back usually ignore by the series after it was presented. They can create an overload of information when they are released, or destroy and come back to the users chakra(this happens even when all the clones wasted all of their chakra, or decided to come back in the war… Put puff why give Naruto a monstrous headache when going against 7 Jinchurikii, or worse and more probable a blackout)…
I wonder why the second hokage didn’t actually create a water Clone instead I mean how or why did he learn shadow clone by copying the firsts wood clones Wouldn’t he had made easier water ones? How did he come up with shadow that’s my question Kinda weird (Edited to say that it’s not the shadow part thing i mention but actually how did he manage or had the idea to make a normal clone instead of water if he was based on Wood clones)
I remember in the chunin exams when Neji was surrounded by shadow clones and he was looking for naruto and found a naruto that had more chakra than others and attacked it. It actually wasn’t naruto and it went poof and naruto attacked him. So the fact that you said that all shadow clones have to have an equal amount of chakra is a lie
In the battle with neji, he says that it was smart distributing his chakra with his clones, suggesting he can control the chakra. Because in the 4th ninja war he only splits himself in almost 10 clones and even a tenth of the chakra is a lot but naruto ran out of kyuubi chakra when at the battlefield with the 3rd raikage suggesting he can control how much chakra there is.
You could’ve maybe mentioned how the chakra of the user is linked directly to the user and any other person who links themselves with the user’s or a clone’s chakra also links their chakra with every clone. This is demonstrated when Naruto linked his chakra with minato’s during the 4th war and Naruto’s chakra (which was present in the remnants of the Shinobi alliance) was also linked with minato’s chakra, allowing him to teleport everyone outside of the barrier keeping the alliance trapped.
I would’ve liked to hear a bit about the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. I’m not saying to make a whole article about it – since it’s basically just more shadow clones – but it would’ve been nice to learn about what makes it a forbidden jutsu, what makes it stronger than the shadow clone technique (apart from the obvious…) And why it was so impressive that Naruto managed to master it. Anyway, as I said, I’m not saying to make a article about it but… …that’d be nice.
the Chakra division aspect I think works more like filling a battery. it’s never clearly stated whether it’s dividing the user’s entire chakra reserves, aka their stamina and mental energy, or just their currently moulded chakra for performing the Ninjutsu, as it is required that a person mould their chakra in order to even perform a technique, I consider the act of moulding their chakra the same as filling up a battery, as the components of Chakra are Physical and Mental Energy, which are clearly not divided when creating Shadow Clones as they’re physically in the same physical and mental state as the original is upon creation, otherwise they’d be absolutely exhausted, meaning they can mould additional chakra from their physical and mental energies. In the case of Naruto, he has a HUGE Battery that refills itself very quickly thanks to him having a ton of stamina to spare, most Jutsu won’t even scratch the surface of it, since he’s able to mould a lot of chakra, he’s able to create a shit ton of clones with that chakra, and since he has really strong stamina and a decently strong mind, him and his clones even without being buffered by Kurama, can continue using tons of chakra intensive attacks
i watched all of your naruto articles and some of dbz. i dont remember that you explained in rinnegan article how some of rhe users have their own ability (madara limbo, sasuke object teleportation). Maybe you could do a article explaning that unique abilities or explain how does some M. sharingan users have different abilities, is it family ability? Did Itachi father also had amaterasu? he had m.sharingan also…
Is there a difference in the durability of clones made through other methods? The water clone made by zabuza for example seemed to last longer then any part one naruto clones and gaaras sand clone seems to function in a completely different way then the shadow clone. And if the clones have the same abilities as the user then shouldn’t a Madara/sasuke/ itachi shadow clone have the ability to use susanoo? Are wood clones the only type that can make susanoo? Why?
Swagkage, would you possibly be able to explain things from Fate Stay/Night or the rest of the Nasuverse, namely things like Mystic Eyes, Dead Apostles, Reality Marbles, Heroic Spirits, Mages, the Holy Grail War or various Noble Phantasms (like Gae Bolg, Excalibur, or Ea)? The explanations on the Type-MOON Wiki are pretty long and wordy, not to mention very confusing for a good number of fans, and so it may be that many Fate fans would appreciate a more simple explanation of the more complicated aspects of the Nasuverse.
So a bit of information given to us from the Boruto anime that wasn’t necessarily clear from the Naruto/Shippuuden anime is that shadow clones don’t necessarily have no limit to their range. For instance, Boruto’s shadow clones have to stay within a certain range of him or they instantly disperse. This, to me, simply points out that Naruto is an absolute God at using shadow clones (which makes sense as it’s his #1 technique) but I’ll bet even Kid Naruto suffered from similar limitations as his shadow clones always stayed near to him for the most part BUT in Shippuuden he was definitely free of this limitation as he could send a shadow clone to go gain information on Wind Release from Asuma who was possibly on the entire other side of the Hidden Leaf village at the time.
So, I’ve noticed in the past that sometimes a clone would throw a shuriken or kunai, and it would still be there in the background after it disappeared. Could just be an oversight by the artist. But if it’s not, then could you like make a bunch of clones of yourself, take their wallets, then release the jutsu and still have their wallet? Infinite money hax. Or if your not the honest type you could have your shadow clone buy your groceries and pay with it’s shadow clone money.
Hi Swagkage. Coul you explain how the Body Replacement works? I mean sure it is self explanatory, however i don’t get the difference between Sasuke’s Amenotijikara(Rinnegan Ability) and the Body Replacemnet technique. I mean Sasukes Ability is it to swap place with an Object in an Instant, but what is the body replacement? I mean they get hit and than they are a wood block?
swag master kage love u bro rrally help ppl like me out cuz aint no body got time to learn half of this stuff by perusal the show I just want to meat of it cuz I love narito im just super busy. God bless u the website bruh bruh, before I Go can u try to talk about why hashirama used actual real life mudras and incorrperated them in the show cuz he must have done his and I research and feel like the hand signs he used make sense in some way I know it a loaded question bit I think it would be sick vid. keep doing what u do 👌 u will hear more from me bro later
I’ve always wondered. If Naruto changed one of his Shadow Clones to Sakura/sexy jutsu, would he have made out with it? Also, while all the Clones have the same objective in mind, what if one of them decided to go rogue? Could the clone have a family and kids? Would the Clone’s kids be Shadow Clones? Could it be a way to store Chakra i.e. if he kept a bunch of them at Konoha and reverse summoned them to restore his fatigue, would it work?
Hey swagkage you forgot that if shadow clones take over a certaint trait/emotion/ways of the caster example when narutos clones took siege of the ship heading to the turtle island so naruto can train they were changed to different fealing example there was one of anger/perverted/sad/lazy so yeah But it was filler so I don’t really know
When I think about it, Naruto even getting his hands on the Shadow Clone Jutsu is suspicious as you mean to tell me that a below genin level ninja, one that couldn’t pass the genin exam 3 times in a row, managed to sneak past all the security, get into the Hokage’s mansion and steal a high level scroll and get away with it? Wouldn’t such stuff have AMBU guarding it, or maybe special genjutsu traps to trick or trap would-be thieves? Maybe it was an early sign from Kishimoto that if he wanted something to happen, he’ll make it happen even if it means breaking his own world and logic.
I thought of a theory I know it doesn’t work but…. What happens if shadow clone justu is just naruto summoning him from other dimensions but when he summons them they completely losing memory from where they were and when they got back they gain the memory back but the reason why I have all the same abilities as Naruto is because when they come to Naruto realm or dimension whatever you want to call it puts all of the info he has in his head and all of the justu he uses or maybe it’s just because in all of the different realms and stuff for dimensions they also use the same justu maybe And the reason he loses so much chakra and stuff is because when his summons them it uses up his chakra and they’re just like the amount of chakra that he’s uses evenly distributed between all of the different people he’s summoned from different realms and stuff so then they don’t have the chakra that they had in the other realm they just have his chakra that is put into him I know it doesn’t really make sense why like you will probably be able to prove me wrong but It could work (Btw I can’t spell so if it dosent mAke sense sorry)
Swagkage, At 2:10 in the article you say the clones are just as strong as the original, what is your source on that? Are you sure you did not just make that up? And what exactly do you mean by “strong”? At the start when naruto learns rasenshuriken, he says he can only do 2 or 3 before running out of chakra. Considering he needed 2 clones to help make the rasenshuriken, if he made 8 clones in total, would he be able to attack with rasenshuriken 6 – 9 times? What if he makes 101 or a thousand clones? He could practically make thousands of rasenshurikens, but 2 was stated to be his limit. He took lots of damage whenever he used rasenshuriken, so why did he not make his shadow clones do it for him? is the damage of clones also transferred to the main body?
I thing Shadow Clones are pretty op. I mean if Naruto, who can use hundreds if not thousands of clones at a time, and they train constantly, he can at a drastic rate Chakra Control, Learn new Jutsu’s, study things he needs to know, help improve his Taijutsu with practice, etc. Honeslty as long as he does physical training himself, he can make thousands of clones everyday to do things to help his training. Or even just get rid of things like paperwork, just create 10 or so and let them do the work for you, and spend time with your family or continue training. In terms of an ability I want to have in real life, if not for crazy super powers, creating usable clones which to all my learning and work for me is awesome.
I thought you would have go more in-depth about the how each one can be different and how different sub personalities and even how they have dreams and their own thoughts. There’s an episode where Naruto is reliving a dream one of the shadow clones had. Naruto was able to experience the dream as if it was him dreaming. The Shadow clones are capable of having their own thoughts and dreams !
I think you got it slightly off because Indra Atsusuki created the Clone Jutsu (which is the actual jutsu Naruto failed 3 times in the academy) and all other clone jutsu are derived from that (lightning clone, wood clone, water clone & tobirama senju developed the Shadow Clone Jutsu just like you said). I just know when most people (example Sakura) do a Clone Jutsu they don’t say Shadow Clone Jutsu they just say clone jutsu. And the Clone Jutsu can be illusions or solid clones (depending on the level of the ninja) but other than that how the clone jutsu (when solid) and shadow clone jutsu actually differ I have no idea. But awesome vid.
This is a weird question, but I am considerably curious about this. When a shinobi creates shadow clones, they share the same will and instincts of the original. But there is one thing they don’t share, that the clones are aware that they are clones and can be wiped out by one move. So subconsciously, shouldn’t that put them in a much more defensive edge than the original, even to the point that they would not fight and just focus on protecting the original. What do you think?
Okay so I have a multi layered idea about shadow clones and narto. So, first of all, Naruto doesn’t actually ever utilize the full potential of clones and the fact that he can gain experience from them. What he should have done was create however many clones, like 100, and let them all go leave on to journeys of survival. The longer they all live, the more his life experience is multiplied. 100 clones learning separately for a year basically gives him 100 years of potential knowledge, potential because the clones may still be drawing the same conclusions for some stuff, but all bases would surely be covered, and allow for him finding unique situations. Upon collecting the years knowledge, he will gain a giant and highly mentally altering convergance of minds. Now lets have Naruto let 1000 clones live for say 5-10+ years and Narutos mind would become something extremely unhuman or unnatural. I’m also not even referring to training in that period neither, but just simply existing, learning, and living life experiences. The culmination of it all serves to create the most complete personality of Naruto that misses nothing due to situational bias. It should be kept in mind that the range of experiences may include traumatizing events, like a naruto that accidently kills an innocent, or witnesses the very dark side of humanity first hand, like child abuse and what not. Most versions of himself would be realized to an extreme degree, and some individual clones may actually have a bigger impact of his psyche than others when returning.
One thing I didn’t like was that Naruto didn’t utilize his clones memories that much. There was an episode where Kakashi explains to naruto how whatever happened to the clones go back to the original and whatever experiences the clones had the original retained as well. I feel like this part was overlooked at and naruto could’ve easily used this to his advantage considering his mastery over multi shadow clones and transformation jutsu. Even Tobriama stated the original intention of the shadow clone was to spy and gather enemy intel. I just wish Kishimoto could’ve focused more on this portion of Shadow clones in the series
it’s just weird to me that bunshins don’t relay ‘sensations’ that accompany an experience. they only relay ‘data’ via sight & sound. ‘sensations’ are written into memory all the same, & permanently so – dreams are proof. you can smell, taste, & feel what you’d be eating in a dream without it actually being within your presence. you can make the argument that all bunshin jutsus we’re crafted specifically to negate these senses but Kishimoto should have at least delved into that in the manga, or at least I don’t remember him doing so.
Since the shadow clone can be tweaked to replicate objects other than the user, could a person theoretically use the shadow clone jutsu to clone a jutsu mid flight? Like could Naruto throw a massive rasenshuriken then divide the chakra in it mid flgiht to create a barrage of smaller rasenshurikens to overwhelm a target from all angles? Since the user can seemingly control where their clone appears could the user create a weapon, then clone that weapon at an angle they couldn’t otherwise reach to intercept or perform an attack? Since clones can return their energy and memories the user when dispelled, could Naruto theoretically create like, a dozen shadow clones, have them henge into tiny frogs or some other creatures of equivalent size, then have them gather and mold nature chakra from on his body, then use them as on-demand meat shields that also restore his energy once he dispels them? Since combination transformations can be performed with somebody on the same wavelength as you, could Naruto make like 100 clones, then use a joint transformation with them to create some kind of pseudo Naruto mech, like some kind of Naruto clown car comprised of clones? Could he detach clones from the collective transformation and use them to surprise enemies with full power clones without the use of hand seals? Would Naruto even take damage if he transformed with 100 other clones and basically placed himself as the core of the transformation? Would each clone be able to mold chakra individually while within him?
I still don’t understand how shadow clones work though. I get that chakra is distributed evenly among clones, but wouldn’t that leave each clone with relatively little chakra? So for example, at one point Kakashi states that he can use Chidori 4 times a day, which would leave me to conclude that using the technique consumes 25% of his chakra. So if he made 3 clones, giving each of them 25% of his chakra and leaving 25% for himself, each one should only be able to use Chidori once, right? So how is it then that we see characters using shadow (or other) clones constantly, and pulling off powerful techniques just as often as the user would be able to do at full chakra? Another thing I don’t understand… wouldn’t it be wise to basically just always use shadow clones to accomplish things? Why would anyone risk their life on a mission if they could just sit at home while a 50% clone does their job? I mean, I understand wanting a fully powered 100% ninja for combat heavy missions… but if it’s something like collection information or assassinating someone, wouldn’t using a clone ALWAYS be a better option? Pretty much everyone seems to be able to use clones in some form. I mean, Kisame sent out a 30% clone that beat down Guy’s entire team before it was eventually defeated. Speaking of which, how does someone create a 30% clone? I thought chakra had to spread evenly among the user and his clones. Is it possible to create a 99% clone? Then wouldn’t sending that 99% clone out on missions be way more optimal and less life-endangering (for the caster) than going on a mission himself?
we need a game where you can summon your own shadow clones by either the game ai learning how you play the game and making them act like you therefore more you played the game the ai would make the clones more and more like you, you could play as a shadow clone to teach the game what you would do as a shadow clone and then play the game or other players being able to play as your clones or the other way around ( there could be an experience level system so you could summon players who have around the same experience in the game so god tier players wouldn’t make an army of inexperienced player clones but instead player clones with around the same experience with the game ) ( and also if you learnt a skill as a shadow clone and the user released you that player would learn that skill and so would you )
Shadow clones aren’t always made with evenly distributed chakra. Usually they get just enough to take shape and cast whatever Jutsu they might need to use. This way you don’t waste chakra unnecessarily. Naruto evenly distributed his chakra in his fight against Neji just so he couldn’t tell the real Naruto apart based on total chakra reserve.
Hypothetical question: Do you have to divide your chakra evenly between you and your shadow clones ? I get you have to divide it evenly between your shadow clones but do you have to have the exact amount of chakra as one of your shadow clones? Let’s say you can make maximum 9 Shadow Clones. That means you have to divide your chakra to 10, right? One fraction of your chakra to yourself and rest of it to your clones. Can you use 1/10 of your chakra to make 1 Shadow Clone instead of normal 1/2 and keep the 9/10 to yourself? Or can you use 2/10 to make 2 Shadow Clones instead of normal 1/3? Or does it have to be even between you and your clones?
I believe why shadow clones are easily destroyed because they are purposely reverted by the user to analyze the enemy during battles. Hence the reason why small scratch from an encounter would seemingly destroy them. That’s why Naruto war arc clones that were distributed to the battlefield are not easily destroyed since they want to stay as long as possible to help.
The one thing I could never understand concerning shadow clones was how Konohamaru was able to make so many. The amount of clones you can make is more or less proportional to the amount of chakra a person has. So, how the hell was Konohamaru able to make so many clones??? It’s not like he had any tailed beast inside of him.
if I remember correctly, making a shadow clone is the graduation test to become a genin, so that means anyone can do it. also, if it can be as strong as the summoner, why doesn’t everyone do it to increase numbers? Sasuke shows he can do it in the boruto movie, so why doesn’t he use those clones to make individual Susano’os?
@Swagkage, can shadow clone jutsu transfer the physical training they done, to the user or not. Well for example the creator instructed them to do push ups 100 times or it is the etc. when they disperse the training they accumulated will be transfer? like they can gain physical strength from the shadow clone only. For example if rock lee to the shadow clones and dispersed them after training.
Is it logical to say that the shadow clone is made out of the yin release due to the fact that it is stated “shadow” = yin=dark . Just a theory based on different words with the same meaning. That would explain why there is other affinity clones like, water clone . I got the idea from your chakra nature article.
☝🏾I would say the shadow clone technique also could have been develop to counter the sharingan by Tobirama. I mean the guy fought Uchiha on a daily basis 😒.. Shadow clone is a carbon copy of the user with the amount chakra so it’ll be hard for ocular jutsu to really distinguish between the real person and the shadow clone
So a shadow clone will transfer its memory to its host upon death? Huh, you’d think Naruto would actually use that part of the technique outside of learning wind style… which he also never really used outside of “throw the explody ball! It didn’t work? Use more until we are both used punching bags!”
I don’t think shadow clones have to have all of the user’s chakra dispersed evenly throughout them. I’m pretty sure Neji comments that Naruto did that in their fight, only to disguise which one was the real Naruto. And equally as strong is a bit off I feel, for shadow clones seem to be significantly weaker at taijutsu particularly. Maybe the material says they are equal, but I feel evidence proves contrary. Great vids!
I was looking up the hand signs for Shadow Clone Jutsu and realized that it’s three hand signs instead of just the one that Naruto always uses, but why does Naruto always just use his typical one hand sign for his shadow clones as opposed from doing the three separate hand signs? Is it different because he learned it from the scroll at the beginning of Naruto?
Hey just a random question but I read somewhere that not even the RINNEGAN or SHARINGAN or the RINNESHARINGAN could differentiate between shadow clones and the original caster but somehow Madara could do it when he joined Obito during the Fourth World War. Is this a plot hole or just Madara’s insane awesomeness?
Shadow clone beginning of series: gets lightly touched and gets destroyed Shadow clone beginning of the fourth great ninja war: fights the third raikage and wins then creates multiple shadow clones of itself each of them using a massive rasengan before disappearing Shadow clone end of shippuden: gets stabbed in the chest and still survives
I think you did an awesome job but some of the info might be a little off not necessarily wrong like how you pretty much made it seem like like all shadow clone techniques are the same when in reality they are not a good example is what Sakura did against ino like in the image you showed, what Sakura actually did was a clone jutsu not a shadow clone jutsu. the difference with the two is that the clone jutsu makes intangible copies of the user therefore the clones can’t physically attack an opponent they are mostly used like you said for distractions. also you forgot to mention the shadow clone jutsu was actually a forbidden jutsu for the fact that it requires a large amount of Chakra to execute. I don’t wanna sound rude or like you were wrong just wanted to add a little bit love your articles thoe.
