The Spell Attack Bonus, also known as the spell attack modifier, is a stat on the spells page of a character’s sheet that represents their affinity for spellcasting. A spell attack determines if the spell attack hits the target, and it depends less on the target’s ability to dodge and more on the character’s ability to cast a spell from a long range. There are two types of attack spells requiring d20 rolls: melee attack spells and ranged attack spells.
In 5e, some spells require the caster to make a ranged spell attack roll against a target’s Armor Class (AC), typically with a range listed in their description. To make a ranged spell attack in 5e, roll a d20 and add your spell attack bonus, which equals your proficiency bonus + your spellcasting ability modifier. For example, if you’re a Wizard, this means a +5 spell attack bonus and a spell save DC of 13, depending on what type of spells are being used.
All ranged attacks (spell or otherwise) are at disadvantage if there is a hostile creature within 5 feet who can see you and is not incapacitated. Spell attacks generally use your spellcasting ability modifier, but ask your DM. Some spells, such as warcry or divine protection, are not considered attacks, so these boosts don’t affect them.
The additional attacks in a monster’s statblock are distinct actions, and spell attacks can sometimes be either melee or ranged. This mainly matters for the sake of abilities that trigger on those specific rolls. If any enemy is within 5 feet of you, they “threaten” you and will cause your ranged spells to have disadvantage against any target unless you can get away.

How is spell attack calculated?
The spell attack modifier in Dungeons and Dragons is a crucial calculation used to determine if a spell hits its target. It is calculated by adding the Proficiency Bonus and Spellcasting Ability Modifier. This post explains the mechanics and math behind spellcasting, including concepts like spell save DC, spell attack modifier, and damage scaling. The spell save DC is a predetermined number that a player must roll against when casting a spell that requires a saving throw. Understanding these principles can optimize characters and enhance gameplay experiences.

How do ranged attacks work in 5e?
Ranged attacks are used in combat to target targets within a specified range. These attacks can have a single range, such as a spell, or two ranges, such as a longbow or shortbow. The attack roll disadvantages when the target is beyond the normal range or long range. Ranged attacks are more difficult to target when a foe is next to you, and the attack roll disadvantages if you are within 5 feet of a hostile creature who can see you and isn’t incapacitated.
Melee attacks, used in hand-to-hand combat, allow you to attack a foe within your reach using a handheld weapon like a sword, warhammer, or axe. These attacks are typically made by monsters using their claws, horns, teeth, tentacles, or other body parts.
How to calculate ranged spell attack 5e?
In D and D 5e, spell attacks are determined by the formula Spellcasting Modifier + Proficiency. Spellcasters always have proficiency on spell attacks. The spellcasting modifier is the ability score modifier used to cast spells, either Intelligence (INT), Wisdom (WIS), or Charisma (CHA). Wizards and artificers use their INT modifier, while clerics, druids, and rangers use their Wisdom modifier. Bards, warlocks, sorcerers, and paladins use their Charisma modifier, resulting in a spell attack bonus of CHA modifier + Proficiency.

What is spell attack used for?
In spells, you roll an attack roll, aiming like a laser beam or touching a target that might not want harm. The “to hit” is determined by the ability modifier you cast and your proficiency bonus. Your turn consists of two main parts: moving and performing an action. On your turn, you can move up to your character’s speed, usually between 20 ft. and 40 ft. You can break this move up between actions, such as moving 10 ft. to a door and 20 ft. through it. However, some areas, like swamps, staircases, or broken furniture, are considered “difficult terrain”, and your speed is halved when moving through them.

I wanted to log in but i think someone’s hacked my gmail account and chamged everything recovery gmail phone numbers, but it seems like he doesn’t play in coc. The problem is I dont know how to get back my Coc account, I spent my.whole childhood upgrading that base. Supercell’s Support couldn’t help me. I just need an answer can I get my back or not? If yes, then how? Please your answer is like super important to me! Sorry for telling my problems, but I dont know anyone but you, who knows a lot about Coc.
This looks really cool but doesn’t really help with the main attack I use, that being a Super Wizard blimp into dragon spam… I use up all of my spells for the blizzard and even if I did make space for it, I don’t see how it would be useful for that attack. I’m guessing someone could figure this out easily but idk.
