Should I let my 16 year old go to a festival?

Parents should be aware of their child’s maturity and age when deciding whether to let their child go to a festival. They should also be aware of the potential peer pressure and the people they plan to go with. Children’s maturity varies greatly, and one 17-year-old might be streetwise while another may be naive. Many families compromise by allowing their child to go for a day with clear boundaries about pick-up times. Festival season should be enjoyable, and preparation and honest discussions with teenagers can ensure both parties are happy.

  • I’m ancient and try to stay out of “the loop” so i didn’t hear about it, probably don’t know any of the bands lol – ah they joyous life of an e-hermit. Hope it’s on and you get to go. I’m impressed you are putting out more articles, you make me feel guilty about being lazy which is a good thing. I hope I haven’t done anything to upset you, I’m addicted to your approval so not getting a heart on a comment sends me into deep depression 😉

  • Everyone is hung up on AstroWorld, meanwhile I’m still hung up on Route 91 Harvest Festival which was also a LiveNation event and ALSO in Las Vegas. Unless something is like super DIY LiveNation has their hands in it. It’s like PepsiCo. If they aren’t directly involved some subsidiary is. Warped Tour was done by LiveNation. I think the show will run like any other big fest. I’m calling it now though. MCR will drop.

  • I would have loved to go to this but for all these bands to play in one day for that huge price tag just doesn’t make sense. You definitely wouldn’t be able to see most of the bands you’d want to see yet paying more than something like Riotfest that’s spread over three days and you get to go all three days. I’m happy for those that get to go, and I wish I could because it’s literally a dream come true if a lineup but…Idk it seems sus af.

  • way back in the day when i was a kid i went to a winery with my mom and sister. we saw Patty Loveless performing when she was kind of relatively a new artist. people right next to us were drunk and got in a fight and fell on top of us.. so Patty said watch out for those kids….and another time when i was in my early twenties i was at a free show at the California Mid State Fair seeing Joan Jett and a guy was fighting and she totally went off on him and he was standing right next to me and my friend… fast forward to 2 years ago i went to a Bone Thugs n Harmony concert and they were not on stage yet and there was a chick fight in front of me and they totally fought right into me so i fell and spilled my beer. they got taken out and the concert was amazing…i do however wonder about festivals…i have never been…seems like its a cesspool of emotions, potential drugs, and too much alcohol consumption to sometimes compensate for the awesome music to be seen to really pay for the tickets and the experience

  • So this totally reminds me of Fyre festival – Blink was one of the only bands to decline the invite to play there… seems like a correlation here 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s not on an island in the middle of nowhere, but Vegas is going to get some good $$ on hotel rates. Also, love the longer episodes! I listen while at work lol ❤️

  • We had the same issues in Canada with people going in for one thing and then cause of death being covid. I live in Ontario and we have been mask mandated for a year and half now….probably since May 2020…something like that. We are hoping that will finally be lifted in the next month or so. It’s the first time we have had no restrictions (limits at stadiums and stores etc.. ) starting today actually since covid started March of 2020. Its been a long haul up here!!!! There are still a few places where vaccine mandates are mandatory but like long term care facilities and hospitals etc. Anyways, here’s hoping we are moving on from this…!!! Great episode ladies! 💕

  • when i first heard of covid i was not sure what to think. firstly i had been sick for at least a month with a cough, couldnt talk well, etc… i went to the doctor and they said i had allergies… then i met my ex boyfriend and i was talking on the phone and i started to cough because he made me laugh and he said ” oh no, you have covid” i told him “fuck you” now i know i probably did… thankfully not with him and it is now 1 year with my current boyfriend…

  • i agree that deaths should be categorized as what they died from actually and then if covid is secondary then it should be put on there. for example if a person were to die from heart failure and they also had diabetes that contributed to the death. i can see why the doctor thinks that covid is a cause of the womans suicide but i think its a secondary cause because the woman took her own life.

  • Love you girls. Totally agree. I had covid last year and again this year. Masks do not work. Love all of your individual opinions. It is not right they put covid as death on a suicide. Just lost a family member to suicide and even though covid is hard, its not the cause for death. Sending love and light 🙏🏻🖤🥂👏🏻 love this podcast. day 1 supporter
