Giath’s Helmet is a crucial piece of boss gear that can break your armor set bonus. Heve gear is usually used for a good HP increase bonus, depending on your next piece of boss armor. Griffon’s Helmet is recommended for DR, as it increases your effective HP more per point of actual HP. The Mystic class uses Gauntlets as their primary weapon and Vambrace as their secondary weapon. At level 56, Mystic unlocks their awakening weapon, which is a Helmet worn by Giath.
The Mystic class uses Gauntlets as their primary weapon and Vambrace as their secondary weapon. At level 56, Mystic unlocks their awakening weapon, which is a Helmet worn by Giath. Equip at least 3 pieces of the same set to trigger the set effect (Red Nose’s Armor/Dim Tree Spirit’s). Tanky classes like Guardian and Mystic may prefer Giath’s Helmet for its survivability bonuses. Damage-oriented classes like Heve are better than Giath.
The Labreska Helmet is the best in slot helmet piece and will eventually replace your Giath/Griffon helmet. To make the Labreska helmet, you will need a Flame of Frost and a PEN Giath or Griffon Helmet with level 10 caphras. The cosmetic green grade gear obtained from the black spirit during the main quest was a great addition to the game.
In conclusion, the choice between Giath’s Helmet and Heve gear depends on your specific needs and preferences. The Helmet worn by Giath can still provide unremitting vitality, but it is generally considered worse than the DR from the Griffon’s Helmet.

📹 You’ve NEVER heard DAVID and GOLIATH explained like THIS
Nancy Guthrie gives an incredible explanation to the story of David and Goliath during episode 4 of the Book by Book video series …
When our youngest daughter (27/DS) was born, she had surgery to repair a blockage in her stomach. While she was in the NICU, while sitting next to her crib, I asked God to show me what I need to read in my Bible to give me strength. My bible literally fell open to the story of David and Goliath. In 2014, I started a NPO where I work with individuals with various special needs. It’s called ‘The Village of Triumph’ and our logo is ‘David and Goliath’!!!
I am not a man, but this is also very powerful, true, encouraging, and helpful for women as well. We, too, need to walk in the Spirit and not fear. Face our obstacles and troubles with the Spirit of God and trust in Him to strengthen us for whatever task lies before us. Thank you for sharing this, Daniel. My name is Sonya, and I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this teaching. As a matter of fact, I listened to it 3 times. Women also have to face giants!
David was a shepherd, and he spent his days protecting the flock. David was proficient with the weapon known as a sling, which many people know about but do not know just how deadly a well placed stone at 250 miles an hour can be. Many people make use of simple primitive weapons such as a sling shot and get extremely good at it, ensuring first shot kills on predators and game. David was such a man.
The part of this story that excites my soul is when David first showed up to drop off supplies his father sent him with. Goliath had been making his mocking challenge for 40 days. The Israeli army was all scared of him but David’s immediate response, “…who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” They were all stuck by fear but David had nothing but a faith in God response to the man who scared all the warriors around him.
From a military point of view, the sling was a powerful weapon, berhaps better than the bow. It was used by many armies through the centuries. David was not a boy playing with a sling, but a warrior well versed in the use of the sling, as it was daily used to protect the flocs from wild animals. An experienced slinger could throw to more than 50 metres with deadly accuracy.
I was born as my mother intended to name me Greg. Before her death, my mother had the intent to write a short story to each of her children. I never knew I was to be named Greg, but I knew I was born scrawny. Mom said I was beautiful to her, but she knew I was the ugliest baby born. Grandad suggested I name him after that guy that killed the giant. I knew that my name matched David’s from the story, but I did not know how I was named until I read this letter after she died. I have faced many giants, especially losing my mother. Thank you for this! My mother was wise!!!
Currently going through a hard time in my life with a lot of stress and emotions and feeling like im shutting down. Feeling like there is no end in sight of this tunnel. I find this article and it is everything i need to hear to help me through it. Life can suck sometimes qnd when i feel down, i feel like god is there to pick me up and point to where i need to go. Thank you for this article. It means a lot
Can you imagine what that day would have been like? The lesson I get from this story is not to allow all this fear and such to paralyze us. Know who you are in God and proceed with boldness. I lived many years living in fear, it virtually controlled my life. God taught me to place my trust in Him and know that He would provide everything I needed.
In the chapter before the episode with Goliath David is described to Saul as “A mighty warrior”. From this we can surmise that David, while younger than Goliath by many years, was not a child but a grown man experienced in battle. Being the youngest son he would have been kept home and cherished, but also given the “unwanted” tasks such as guarding the sheep and carrying food to his brothers. We also know that David himself had to be quite strong: He drew Goliath’s sword and cut off his head. These weapons were of iron so did not hold an edge like steel does. Cutting off the head would require brute force, and we know that the sword was quite heavy. While David depended entirely on God to accomplish the task he was still prepared and equipped to be used by God in this.
Daniel – thank you for telling this the way it was written. So many false stories out there about David & Goliath. Facing things head-on with the Holy Spirit is something that needs to be taught to congregations. People have no idea how important and powerful that is. May God bless you for bringing the true story to life.
I loved this message, it’s truly what I needed in my life right now. I’ve been facing my Goliath over the past few months, trying and failing to overcome. Thank you so much for this message, thanks be to God for bringing it to me. I will commit to guird up my loins, fresh courage take and run forward in Christ. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God…
Slingshot units were some of the most dangerous and effective in ancient armies. These highly-trained warriors launched their projectiles with deadly and lethal accuracy. What is strange about this story is that a seasoned soldier such a Goliath would not instantly recognize the threat from anyone armed with a sling.
Thank you so much for this teaching 🙏 I wanted to mention how I love David’s whole story. How he was rejected by his earthly father and family to fend for himself fighting bears & lions to tend the family sheep. While all his life Davin loved God ❤ And how God took all that and used it for good. David had already killed wild beast and grew his delight in the Lord. This prepared him for Goliath. I find great peace in David knowing that he fell like we all do but continued to humble himself and seek the kingdom and praise God.
I have to say that I liked this article very much. I have read the story several times in the bible. I know there are so many people let their problems take over them. For me, the one main thing that I know and believe is that GOD is in control. So, I have also learned to listen to GOD when HE speaks to me. Thank you for this article. May GOD bless you all.
I have just come across your website and IIN a kJ v dispensationalist Christian. I don’t know what you are but you are telling this story very well, I am an old lady crippled and dying and I’m okay with that because IDI have made mistakes in my life. I don’t know what denomination you are. I don’t know who you are, but you are telling this story absolutely magnificently. And to all those out there you’re going to have obstacles. But don’t blame God. You are going to pay for your sins. One way or another, regardless, but you still can’t blame God. You make choices in life and your life choices are what’s going to predetermine. Where you go and what happens to you now? There’s a lot of good men that bad things happen. But maybe they’re the ones that can take it they’re taking the brunt for someone that can’t that is weaker than them. You know, I mean, I don’t know, I’m not a preacher, I just I’m blind and I listen to a lot of Gospel Then Listen to the Bible and I Listen to my pastor and You popped up and so I thought i’d give You a Listen and So Far I’m enjoying it. II don’t know if this is for men only. I am a woman. I believe that the man runs a house that the man is the boss. I do not believe that that entitles him to treat a woman has less or not equal. He needs to treat her as his Queen. As in the song it’s all mine. I can’t think of exactly the right verse, but Tom. You you guys know what I’m talking about. And women aren’t to listen to their husbands and quit trying to act like a man.
I love your article… Was looking for something to listen to and came across your article. I know it was meant for men, but felt like it was meant for me as well in some way. Battling a Goliath of my own right now in the work place. I ask God for strength and not to allow me to give in to my fears. You gave me encouragement, Thank you! Also may I ask if the article clips of David and Goliath are from a movie. If so could you please tell me which movie. If they are your own, well lets just say maybe you should make a movie of David and Goliath. Just saying… Be Blessed! ☺
People how did you end it up here? I was alone reading the bible and was reading the story of David and found it fascinating and so happy I was researching and found you, and I felt all that you explained here when I read it… Please pray for me going through challenges and believe after reading this I need to find a strategy like David to change the situation
There are some people who even run away from prayer and worship but say that they have God in there heart and focuses on work and other stuff other than reading the bible unless being forced to do it as if life is more important than to come to God instead. So please make a article to bring those people back on track. God bless you
One thing I thought you were going to mention is that David went to the brook and picked up 5 smooth stones! As you mentioned, Goliath had 5 brothers, so David had 5 stones in case Goliath’s brothers became infuriated and came at David. This is what I believe because by his faith he knew he could take Goliath down with just one stone. IMHO
Thank you, i absolutely love this and will use it daily. Joshua 1:9 is pretty much the same way. I am a fighter also, but I have been giving into the lies of fear and my flesh and so my adversaries have gotten to me by manipulation into the anger and rage that they know that I have. It is now time to face them all.
So what most people don’t understand is that Goliath was always at the disadvantage. The men who could fight with a sword, dedicated their time to learn the sword. David’s weapon was the sling, which he was highly proficient with. A sling bolt can easily punch a hole through front and back of a bronze helmet, with or without a head in it. For David, it was just another day on the range. He was a sniper. He was an elite soldier. Yes he learned it as a shepherd, which is why he was so elite at it. Don’t get me wrong, God gave him the skill, and with that skill came courage.
One thing that is often neglected in David v Goliath is David had the tactical advantage. David was the favorite ‘on paper’. Goliath was weighed down by heavy armor and weapons made for heavy damage and intimidation. David forwent armor, was very agile, was able to run unimpeded and could certainly out maneuver Goliath and wear him down, and most importantly deadly accurate with the sling (a ranged weapon, no need to get close), and able to taking out both a lion and a bear (bullets are know to not stop a bear). David apparently was not afraid and would even end the battle with the beasts with hand to hand combat once his target was knocked down. So Goliath’s biggest strengths, intimidation and heavy hitting ability were negated by who David was and David’s skill set, and Goliath’s armor became a disadvantage to him given the hit to mobility and stamina it gave him, especially if David could knock him to the ground. So where was God in this then? God chose His champion, and chose wisely, seeing things that others failed to but allowing David to be the one to stand for all of Israel. God allowed David to act, God opened the door for this ‘nobody’, in what appeared to be an impossible situation. And by impossible I mean that it seems impossible that David would have been allowed to fight by the army and Saul.
Just as a reminder here, David had been on the back side of the desert practicing with his sling, which more than likely was a shepherd’s sling not just a regular sling shot. You might want to look that up. That’s why Goliath said you come at me with sticks. But David had already killed a bear and a lion. Does one know what it takes to kill a bear in a lion? One has to be a pretty good shot. And it has to be with a pretty powerful weapon. So the boy was practiced up, and then he had the power of God behind him. GOLIATH WAS SIZE BRAVE….in other words… he thought more of himself because he was big…as his ego…..what he didn’t know was that David knew how to get AHead.
David actually had the advantage in spite of his youth and small stature. David was a skilled slinger having killed lions and a bear. Goliath was a melee fighter who could easily win if the opponent came close and dare to risk a close-in fight. Just getting hit once by his staff would put the other in a big hurt. But being a slinger, David was used to shooting rocks at distant moving targets and Goliath was not going to be moving fast at all given his great bulk. A good slung rock could hit with the force of a 45-caliber bullet putting Goliath down fast after which David cut off Goliath’s head ensuring no more action. Goliath really had little chance against someone like David. This fight has been mis-characterized for centuries Goliath never had a chance. Note: David had 5 rocks in his satchel, one for each of Goliath’s brothers too. Which is why the Philistines ran away. Their heroes were dead meat and they knew it.
God prepared David for this task. David was a shepherd who fought bears and lions to protect the flock. When David entered the king’s tent, the scripture states that a David left his excess baggage with the door keeper. That’s a beautiful picture of what we do when we enter God’s throne room. We cast our cares on Jesus, the Gate or Door. God abundantly prepared David for this task.
David and Goliath isnt about David overcoming Goliath, but God fighting the battle for David. There is a picture in the battle that most miss. Who is Jesus? He is the rock. Who goes before Israel to fight their battles? The Lord. Who is the Lord? Jesus. What went before David and struck Goliath? The rock. The lesson is this, that our Lord and savior is our strength, and He fights the battle for us. He is the one who is righteous and mighty to save, not David. David understood this.
The sling that David used to kill Goliath can hurl a one-ounce stone at 62 mph to hit a target 600 feet away. It has been estimated that Goliath was only about 30 feet away and at that distance, a sling can bury a stone 4 inches into a human skull, The giant pretty much brought a sword to a gun fight and David had 6 more shots if he had missed the first one.. BTW, The sling was a widely used military weapon at the time with entire battalions of slingmen. In many cases, it was more effective than the bow and arrow because when it hit the leather armor that would deflect an arrow, it could still cause significant blunt force trauma.
I’ve heard that since Saul was a full head taller than all the men in Israel, this puts him somewhere around 6′-6″ at least. Saul was a “giant” in his own right to the people of Israel, and he was revered as the greatest warrior of his time. Saul’s crippling terror and fear of Goliath, really puts into a better perspective just how monstrous of a man Goliath must have been. So fierce and powerful that he reduces the enormous man of Saul, who had personally slain thousands of warriors, into a state of paralyzing fear and hopelessness…
An important aspect of his expounding of this remarkable story is as King Saul inquired of his mighty men who would fight m the giant all shran in fear. But David, just a youthful lad and had spent his life and protected the sheep in his care, he had slain vicious Lions. David openly rebuked the elite gathered and marveled that there was not a man among them with courage & trust in God to deliver unto them in death this arrogant challenger!
Wow!!! This! This is how Bible articles should BE! Reading the scripture – then – explaining the details – AND – with cool pictures and voicing and music! FANTASTIC Great work and well done, watchman. In these last hours, mankind needs to be made to understand what we face in our war against the Adversary, his rebel angels, and the demon spirits of the dead giants. Once people understand what is going on here, the commands of God to the Israelites to destroy certain populations, completely, and why to not have any dealings with witchcraft and spirits, that all takes shape – and makes sense. Thank you. WELL DONE!!!
Wow thank you. The bible is complex with many parts and you my brother have Gods Spirit to lead us through bibical lessons. thank you for speaking preaching and teaching. I love you and God loves you ❤️ may the Lord our God use you in this Giant world to help us understand the complexities in our bibical studies.
My biggest fear is that will let God down. I know that He loves me; that Jesus gave His life for me and He wants me to keep His commandments, all 10 of them, not forgetting the 4th commandment, especially. The commandments don’t save us, but we keep them because He saved us. That is love indeed. I’m so glad that you mentioned the fact that Goliath had brothers; possibly four brothers, and that may be why David picked up 5 smooth stones, in case the brothers may have showed up. Now, that is faith, indeed. God bless.
I was moved by you teaching about the spirit is in you. I’ve always known this but some how this helped me understand more about the holy ghost. You are right also about having no fear when filled with the holy spirit. When fighting evil, doubt and deception are just some of the powerful tools that evil uses. When as a youth, I thought it was just a fist fight. Sometimes there is physical violence when facing evil. As we grow all these powers and tools that evil uses come to bear down on everyone trying to do work for God. Evil is always trying to stop the work of God from being done.
Wonderful,David was a Prophet,he prophesied & exercised his faith in The God of Israel by announcing that he will cut of the head of the Philistine without even a sword in his hand. He exercised his super sense “Faith”.Imperative that we experience this God(Lord Jesus Christ) through The Holy Spirit promise.
Thank you for your article! It was a wonderful look at David, one of my favorite people from the Bible! One thing I love about King David is how he repented after he sinned, I want to be able to repent like him! If you want to hear this story and the entire story from David and Goliath to the end of the reign of King David there is a article series that tells King David’s whole story called “The Shepherd King.” This series is an awesome series if you want to hear someone go through his whole story directly from the Bible’s 2 books of Samuel. There is nothing added to the story that’s not on the Bible, just like this article did not add anything extra to the story of David that isn’t there! Listening to this makes me want to go and re-watch The Shepherd King article series. Just an FYI it’s a 12 part series but each episode is around an hour long.
Thank you for you inspiring message. It might be also worth noting that God gave David the the opportunity and motivation to develop his sling skills during his years as an isolated herdsman to prepare him for this day. God gave him a spirit of training for excellence so He could use him here. Is there a better weapon than a sling
Same/Similar story told in many theologies. Not just Christianity, but the Iliad and Greek Mythology of Astyanax come to mind as well. Basically this is an asymali or legend based on a leader whom someone made into this amazing hero. A lot of stories in teh Bible are also in every thing from Egyption to Mesopotamia, from Greece to the Failed Roman Empire. Great stories for building character when dealing with seemingly unbearable odds. Great for ‘Pick Me Up’ troop legends to get your soldiers riled up or give them courage.
From what I could learn, Goliath apparently had a pituitary malfunction that made him grow so large. It seems to be juvenile onset, suggested by his height, because adult onset comes after height is already set and shows in enlarged hands and feet and facial features. One symptom is visual problems, which explains why “his shield-bearer went before him” to lead him around because he couldn’t see well. Visual problems also explain why Goliath had to tell David to “come to me” although Goliath had a spear and a javelin. Anyway, that’s one hypothesis.
There is one thing everyone today misses about this story, primarily because they don’t know what it is. When David went to face Goliath, he took his staff. A shepherd’s staff. What was he going to do with it? Further he stopped at the bottom of the hill to select stones. A normal sling would use small rocks or lead bullets. Both are about a couple of ounces in size. David would be carrying those in a pouch. But he picked stones, not gravel. Have you ever heard of a STAFF SLING? Those use stones the size of your fist – and strike with powerful force. Look it up one internet.
Love that you brought to highlight the Power of the Spirit and David’s anointing that I had not been aware of. However, I know from personal experience that it wasn’t just being full of the LORD’s Spirit that caused him to know Goliath’s weak points. The Holy Spirit caused David’s eyes to be open to the enemy’s open forehead. (Note: in your rich CGI Goliath has a helmet that covers his forehead. If that had been the case in reality David would not have run forth boldly). So one is bold only when God has shown one a clear weakness. Having knocked Goliath out David could leap to chop off Goliath’s head to because David had seen that Goliath’s neck was unprotected. I suppose David could have stabbed Goliath in both eyes but it was triumphant that David had seen Goliath’s two weaknesses: Goliath’s exposed forehead, and Goliath’s exposed neck. Also, David had faced lions and wolves as little boy many times. Put in cultural and historical context, at the time one can imagine that a little boy told to guard the sheep would have had a bad hiding and severe scolding if he had let any lions or wolves take any sheep. David had huge experience from the age of a little boy fighting hungry lions and wolves. As a tiny boy he had sat in the dark in the mountains alone with the sheep fearful and surely prayed to Yahweh to save him from lions and wolves. And, even save him from bandits, perhaps? There are times when the Spirit of the LORD will surprise you, causing you to be the raging lion who takes others by surprise.
im glad you understand that he was not just big but also strong unlike false preachers out here saying goliath was actually a person with acromegaly being ignorant of the details like the weight of the chain mail that of someone with acromegaly would struggle to walk with such weight on, and if you do your homework, you would know goliath may likely be of a class of nephilim giants, a certain giant by the name og king of bashan had details of him having 6 fingers, which is one of the key factors to consider of what makes them who they are, although this type of detail description is mention regarding goliath, other details like weight of the chain mail alone tells me this is no regular tall person,
Those who speak as they have found the key to the gate closed to humanity separating us from our original place in creation need to understand the message given to us by the apostle Matthew . Read the passage Matthew chapter 10 in its entirety. Thank you for your comment to bring humanity the knowledge required to make efforts towards finding our way back to GOD. In listening to your podcast I pray for you and all that listen to you that we move forward with LOVE in our hearts. Prayerfully guided by the HOLY SPIRT ONE GOD PRESENT in the HOLY TRINITY 🙏
People don’t just run from there problems they run from their responsibilities. When we accept who we are, and our responsibilities there is nothing that will hold you back. Especially when you have the Spirit of God with you. Prayer and scripture study will help anyone overcome addiction, fear, demons and turmoil within themselves. There is nothing God can’t face for you and with you. I know there is nothing impossible for God.
This happened to me as a child. I was about 5, and a kid in the class didn’t like me. As i walked home, he started throwing stones at me. I was quite far away and he was a poor shot. I picked up one, lobbed it and it hit him straight between the eyes. He fell and i was reprimanded. My two lampstands are the silver Latin Cross and the Tetragrammaton Pentagram. I too am from the House of David.
Sure, maybe Jesse thought that David was too young to accomplish the mission he made for his stature and his age, but there was something that Jesse missed because it wouldn’t be because of David’s strength but because of the Lord’s strength in David that was upon him the one that gave David the power to destroy Goliath and his other brothers because we can’t forget that the Bible said that Goliath had other siblings as giant as he was, so David the Lord used David to destroy Goliath and his descendants with the other stones David had by the power of the Lord and David strength!!! 💪🏻😇👍
Well said and well narrated God knows your heart the holy spirit he knows if your faith is strong before he choose the chosen ones the key is 100% faith do not doubt him the Father the Creator or his words, It will not be easy the trials and tribulations in your pathway but with true Faith you will pull through in Jesus mighty name🦅#10.
I have a selfish desire to follow God’s plan for my life. For my gain and His glory. But I refuse to give up that desire. I suppose that is not considered a “selfish” desire. But it is a fine line between what one person considers a selfish desire and what another person considers to be a non-selfish desire.
We can do all things through our Lord. 2corth ch 3 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate(a) the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killed, but the spirit giveth life. Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father
Yes, the Lord gives us strength to face anything victoriously. But something that’s so often overlooked in this amazing story are the basic truths about shepherds. They protect the flock from wolves on a daily basis with sling and staff. The ability to sling a stone at an agile wild wolf with lethal accuracy was all in a days work for a shepherd…and no small feat. Without question, the Lord was with David on that day…but slinging a stone at a standing man with enough power to kill him was all in a days work for most shepherds.
Even though David was a man of God, he did stumple when he was king. Though after words he repented. David is a great example of how being confident in God can get you through the darkest of times as well as an example of what happens to a Godly man when you give into the flesh and then turning from it, seeking forgiveness and going back to God.
@DLM Men’s Lifestyle Great inspirational article. Have you noticed what King Saul’s response was when David said he would stand for Israelites. You’re just a boy! But what was Goliaths response when he saw David. He disdained him FOR he was a boy. Goliath, and demons know our youth, our young people can be powerful warriors full of zeal, for Gods kingdom. But sometimes we as Christians can stifle the zeal of our young people. Let us equip, train and anoint our young people to make a stand against the Devil and his demons.
Thank you for sharing and keep sharing men need to here this and we need to rise up in him you showed me the same as god was telling me god is with me the devil plays on feelings our soul and emotions as I would know over 53 years of being alone yes pentecost has been poured out like smith Wigglesworth would say the spirit of the lord IS upon you and that alone IS the power
What did the Israelite learn from that to continue following God OR to become themselves the new Goliath ? See the recent fight with the Palestinians in Gaza . Who is Goliath and who is David in this time . Do you think God will be with the new Goliath or with the new David since God is always with the oppressed . I am a Christian Catholic Jewish .
Certainly David went in the power of the Lord, but another thing that is rarely spoken or known about this situation, is this: Even in the natural, given the deadliness of the sling in skilled hands, Goliath didn’t stand a chance. He was out gunned so to speak. A very interesting study of the sling in ancient weaponry.
I want to put the following on the table: The stone that struck Goliath down either killed his spirit, because it was directed by God, or the stone just stunned him and David killed him with the sword when he removed his head, if I read it correctly. David had 5 stones in his satchel, one each for Goliath and his brother, who had three sons. He was ready to kill them all.
God said that David is a man after My Own Heart- imagine that if you can ‘ GODs Heart’ was in King David, and King David Heart was Gods Own Heart. Be strong, be courageous, be brave let the weakness of your heart be in the power, strength and might of Christ Our Lord who has already overcome ALL FEARS., God bless
As Daniel pointed out in the book of Acts 2 : 38 And Peter said to them ” Repent and be baptized, everyone one of you,in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit . ” God wants to see our sincerity, not just in words only but by our actions that we really want to change our wanton ways to God’s ways, and with the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide us . Our commitment to God and Jesus Christ means a lot more than all the nicey sounding ‘ í love yous ‘ that we sing or shout to God . Our commitment shows that we mean business, not just in words only but in our actions also .
I hate it when people say that this passage contains a contradictory statement because first it says thatthe stone killed Goliath and then it says that the sword of Goliath struck his head off and killed him. So which one killed him? They ask. How about the stone killed him, but his head cut off made sure that he was dead? It’s just a small flaw in the English translation.
This is a great fable…one to teach those that despite all odds, you should go forth to conquer it…while the story is just a story, and in reality impossible (Goliath had a helmet that covered his head and presumably his forehead) and (If Goliath was this powerful, a rock to the forehead would not knock him out)..it is still an uplifting story…but just a story…like a fairytale…
l would suggest that David as king, in saying, “in God we trust” he really meant in being godly, as an individual, or in trusting the path of godliness, we will prevail in our physical existence. This is also what Jesus encouraged us to do ….discover the kingdom of God within each of us and follow that path, find a place of reconciliation between our spiritual purpose and our material body prison.
Goliath commented on the stick David carried but made no mention of the sling. Goliath was at the top of the hill wearing heavy armor. His Helmut was up on his head. His sword was in its sheath and his shield in another man’s hand. He ran down the hill, unable to stop expecting to terrify David. That is when David took out the sling.
This is something we all missed too! David had no sword so he pick up Goliath’s sword. Imagine the size of Goliath’s sword if he was 9 feet tall, the rock hitting Goliath in the head could had been luck but picking up the sword that easy was not. Imagine the fear of the philistine when they saw the normal size dude kill their biggest, imagine what the rest will do to them, hahaha.
Note how God’s hand is truly in all this. As Goliath was struck in the forehead, instead of falling backwards as what usually happens, he falls forward bowing to the one true God 1 Samuel 17:49 – He took a stone from his bag, put it into his sling, and slung it. The stone hit the Philistine and went deep into his forehead, and Goliath fell facedown on the ground. Praise God indeed!
Goliath was his nickname, like “big-guy”. His real name was Jeremy. He was large for his age, so they conscripted him and made up a bunch of stories. He had never been in a fight when they sent him out, so he just froze. David had been killing stuff since his dad got him a sling for his 7th birthday. So, Jeremy never stood a chance, poor guy.
Hi Daniel – I am a new Christian and on my journey through the bible. I have a question re old testament vs New testament. God gave Satan the power to rule over the earth (albeit fruitlessly on his part!) and I notice that the old testament is full of war in the name of God, sacrifice in the name of God and depicts a very strict and unmerciful God. Then we come to the New testament and our beloved Jesus came and changed the covenant of sin and brought Love and Forgiveness into the world (Amen). My question is this – Do you think that the Old testament people were inadvertently worshipping Satan, who we know deceived the world into believing he doesn’t exist. I ask because I have a real problem getting my head around a God such as that compared to our God from the new testament. I love Jesus and am ever thankful for his coming to save us. At the time people were expecting a warrior king to rescue them and perhaps he did come as the warrior. He fought for us and died for us and was then raised by God Almighty. I would really appreciate your thoughts on the matter. God bless you for your teaching
The stones represent the rock, Jesus, the word of God. In the forehead strike means to be reminded. There are 5 things from scripture that we need to be struck or reminded of: the true bible sabbath, the state of the dead, the truth about hellfire, the sanctuary service, and the health message of the original diet.
At some point in one’s aging process, we the majority of us come to accept the various stories we first heard, and later learned to read our selves. Were simply “FARIY TAIL’S”. Apparently not all of us do, when one believe’s that a simple shepard walked into a skirmish as large as they were in those days, consisting of ten’s of thousand’s. And got a chance doing a one on one to determing the ending. When the death’s of thosand which occured prior to his lucky shot, knocking out the large dude, and having his head cut off while laying on the ground where he fell unconcious.
The stone David actually used was the cornerstone of Christ, which is a stumbling block to many, but if you build your house upon it you will never fall, for even if you are down you will not stay down, but will overcome and rise against your enemies and overcome them, including any problems you may have, praise the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
The Agreement That was Offered ? Was the loser would, cause all to be Slaves ! Saul accepted, & Reluctantly Sent David, Who Believed that God Would Deliver Goliath to Be Defeated, & David Won against Goliath ! This original accepted act alone, Causing the Philistines to be Subjected to the Posterity of Slavery by the Success of David, The Shepherd Boy. Praise To the name of God & for the Glory of his Name ! Amen ! It is so ! Samuel, chpt 17
You also missed a key element found in 1 Samuel 17:39 KJV which says, “And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.” So his defense was not in armor or a sword but in Jehovah.
