How Absurd Is A Horoscope?

Horoscopes are a unique interpretation of how the planets are affecting us, often personalized for a specific person or group. They are calculated from the planetary positions in either the sidereal or tropical Zodiac, based on the date, place, and time of birth. A horoscope is a chart or diagram representing the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, astrological aspects, and sensitive angles at a specific time, such as a person’s birth.

A horoscope can be a fun time gal, a fun-loving person, or a manipulative person. Some zodiac signs, such as Taurus (earth), are known for being resolute or stubborn, while others, like Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio, are known for their ability to dig their heels in.

The definition of hell for each zodiac sign is similar, with the moon’s period and menstruation being connected fairly quickly. For example, the moon’s period and menstruation are connected fairly quickly in the 4th house.

In summary, a horoscope is a chart or diagram representing the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, astrological aspects, and sensitive angles at a specific time, such as a person’s birth. It can provide insights into a person’s personality, career, family, health, and travel.

Why is astrology considered witchcraft?

The practice of magic, which aimed to help rather than hurt, was considered evil and often condemned in both ecclesiastical and secular contexts. Divination was also considered witchcraft due to the belief that foresight and prediction were bound to be influenced. Does the Bible mention other planets?

Saturn is represented by the star Kaiwan, worshipped by the Israelites in the desert. The word Kaiwan, interpreted to mean “steadfast”, often designates the slowest-moving planet in Babylonian inscriptions. The Babylonian god Ninurta was merged with Saturn, and the ancient Syrians and Arabs also called Saturn Kaiwan. The Zoroastrian Bundahish equates Saturn to Kevan, while in Mandaeism, it is referred to as Kiwan. The other planets are individualized in the Bible by implication, and the worship of gods connected to them is denounced without any explicit intention to refer to heavenly bodies.

The best-warranted interpretations of biblical star names include Kimah, the Pleiades, Kesil, Ash, Mezarim, Mazzaroth, Hadretheman, Canopus, and Nachash. These star names are based on Schiaparelli’s authority and provide a comprehensive understanding of the celestial bodies in the Bible.

Are horoscopes good or bad?

Psychologists refer to this phenomenon as “confirmation bias”, where people focus on sections of a horoscope that support their beliefs, ignoring the rest. While reading a horoscope can provide a sense of order or meaning to life, it lacks scientific basis, making it unsuitable for acting on. Sandbek, a psychic, believes that people who regularly consult horoscopes seek guidance rather than comfort.

He believes most people seek information about themselves or what to do. Holmes, for example, pays special attention to her horoscope when curious or experiencing changes, as it helps explain what’s happening.

Why do we believe in horoscopes?

Astrology is a tool for understanding one’s self-identity and self-conception. According to Jennifer Freed, PhD, it serves as a validation for one’s unique gifts and provides confirmation and encouragement. Astrology is likened to a beautiful staircase, where one must walk mindfully and hold onto a solid foundation. Humans tend to remember positive feedback that validates their self-conception over negative feedback, making it easy to accept the ambiguous and positive aspects of astrology. This approach helps individuals develop their unique gifts and take mindful steps towards self-discovery.

What do horoscope signs mean?

The Sun, a stable celestial body, is constantly in motion on Earth, influencing our daily experiences and the position of the Sun in the sky. This position, known as your “sun sign”, is crucial for both beginners and professionals astrologers. It represents your core personality, sense of self, preferences, romantic compatibility, and ways of moving through the world. When combined with other planets and placements in your birth chart, it creates a unique celestial profile that serves as your cosmic fingerprint.

The 12 zodiac signs are divided into triplicities and quadruplicities. Triplicities refer to the four zodiac sign elements, with three in each group: Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), and Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). Fire signs are passionate and exuberant, earth signs are practical and grounded, air signs are intellectual and curious, and water signs are intuitive and emotional.

Quadruplicities, also known as “modalities”, refer to the qualities of each zodiac sign within its respective season. Cardinal signs occur at the beginning of a new season, while Fixed signs are steady and consistent forces that maintain movement. Mutable signs, on the other hand, possess effortless fluidity and are well-suited for change and transformation.

What the hell are zodiac signs?

The zodiac, consisting of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces, is a system of signs that occupies 30 degrees on the ecliptic, the sun’s annual path. Initially developed around 600 BCE, its zero point is at the intersection of the ecliptic with the celestial equator, also known as the vernal equinox or spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.

Is the Bible against zodiac signs?

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus asserts that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. This contradicts biblical wisdom, as chasing after false gods is a sin. There is no biblical evidence that God has given authority to stars or astrologists. Pursuing predictions about our destiny or personality is biblically sinful, as it takes power from God and gives it to something other than God. A horoscope cannot change what God has already ordained before we were even created.

Is there any truth to horoscopes?

Astrology predictions have never been more accurate than those expected by chance alone, and blind experimentation has been used to test astrology quantitatively. Michel Gauquelin, a renowned astrologer and psychologist, in 1955 found positive correlations between the diurnal positions of planets and success in professions, such as doctors, scientists, athletes, actors, writers, and painters. This is known as the “Mars effect”.

A study by seven French scientists attempted to replicate this claim, but found no statistical evidence. They attributed the effect to selective bias on Gauquelin’s part. Geoffrey Dean suggests that the effect may be caused by self-reporting of birth dates by parents, rather than any issue with Gauquelin’s study. A small subset of parents may have changed birth times to be consistent with better astrological charts for a related profession.

The sample group was taken from a time where belief in astrology was more common, and Gauquelin had failed to find the Mars effect in more recent populations. The number of births under astrologically undesirable conditions was also lower, indicating more evidence that parents choose dates and times to suit their beliefs.

Are horoscopes against the Bible?

Astrology is based on the belief that the patterns and positions of celestial entities, such as stars and moons, influence a person’s life and actions. This contradicts the biblical belief that God is sovereign and all-knowing. No star patterns or charts can determine a person’s future, as God has already ordained it. Ephesians 2:10 states that we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. No zodiac sign or horoscope can alter this.

Jesus in Matthew 28:18 states that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. Believing in the power and authority of astrology goes against biblical wisdom, as chasing after false gods is a sin. There is no biblical evidence that God has given authority to stars or astrologists.

What zodiac was Jesus?

The age of Pisces, which began around AD 1 and ends around AD 2150, is associated with the birth of Christ and is often depicted as the fishes. Christ, who bears many traits of a Piscean, is considered an archetype of the Piscean. The twelve apostles were called “fishers of men”, early Christians called themselves “little fishes”, and Jesus’ code word was the Greek word for fish, “ΙΧΘΥΣ ICHTHYS”. This period, known as the “Great Month of Pisces”, is considered the beginning of the Christian religion.

Saint Peter is recognized as the apostle of the Piscean sign. The Venus exalted in Pisces is represented by divine love in Dante’s Purgatorio. Pisces is also the subject of Luca Della Robbia’s 15th-century Plate with the Month of February and Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s poetic work.

  • I feel like a “show” like this would have been better suited for a comic strip instead of animated shorts, especially since the goal was quantity over quality. It would have helped eliminate the issue of stiff animations, and it would force the writers to keep the dialogue concise. The comic could have the characters interpret their horoscopes in odd ways as part of the punchline. For example, one of the character’s horoscope could say “get more in touch with reality” and the character interprets that as advice to buy a VR headset. For the comic idea, they could have made each character the main focus during the calendar dates corresponding to their astrological sign. Alternatively, they could make 12 comic strips weekly, one for each astrological sign. Edit: they could have a special Chinese New Year comic where the characters meet the Chinese zodiac.

  • Per the Will Arnett interview, it was pretty well known in the industry that Quibi was just this infinite money pipe that anyone with some amount of fame could tap into with the single laziest projects imaginable. No wonder Arnett got that bag, so did pretty much every other famous person. Quibi was notable for two things in the industry: no quality control and infinite money.

  • For the uninformed, astrology stuff is still VERY popular today, especially among teens! It’s still common to walk into a cute little boutique or home decor store and seeing a ton of astrology stuff for sale, usually alongside birthstone themed items too! 🤣 I won’t lie, I did get a little into astrology as well when I was a preteen, but I was more interested into the mythological stories behind each sign’s origin instead, as I don’t really believe in the whole ‘here’s a very specific piece of advise for you today and apparently your entire life is ruled by the revolution of each planet’ 🤷‍♀️ I’m a cancer by the way lol 🦀

  • This is out of nowhere, but I gotta say your little intro jingle always takes me back to when I was trapped in my room quarantined during covid in 2020. Sounds bad, but being trapped there ended up finding me love. I would wake up and watch your website, having just found it, then get on VRchat for the entire day where I met someone whom I would spend the next 3 weeks hanging out with. Long story short, I fell in love and so did he. So every time I hear that jingle it reminds me of the time I spent escaping reality for a month. It was a bad time, it was a good time. Love perusal your stuff its always interesting to see all these strange shows you find and talk about their history in great detail.

  • When I was in High School, my friends and I were obsessed with Tumblr horoscope posts, because they were always perfect.. I also started a writing project that had all the characters based on the zodiac signs.. I didn’t even get to writing anything, because making 12 different characters all at once, made me pretty sick of looking at horoscope stuff..

  • I like the idea, I’m into Astrologhy (just for fun, and I just like reading about the signs instead of horoscopes) so I do think some of the jokes where funny, but yes behind a paywalk this show wouldn’t work, and I prefer them to do something more with instead of just quick horoscopes jokes, but that’s just my personal prefence.

  • Quibi shows may be lost media now, but they should get out there eventually if anybody can find a buyer. One of the dumb things Quibi did was not only pay the creators all the costs for their shows, but they let them keep the product. After a time, the creators would get the rights to what they made. I’ve forgotten the schedule, but I believe we’ve reached the point where these shows should be available to the creators, assuming no other legal blocks are in the way.

  • Decided to watch those episodes of The Daily Horoscope. First, I did a little research on the Cancer zodiac sign before perusal since those episodes seemed to be about Cancer. Watched the episodes, and they were kinda meh. I was focused on seeing if my knowledge on the zodiac sign was shown in those episodes, unfortunately not really. For starters, I’ve read that Canceriand (people with the zodiac sign) are generally caring and loyal, and love their friends and family. Unfortunately, those personality traits weren’t shown through Cancer (the character). I also read that Cancerians can be really sensitive and unable to let things go, which ig they did right in the episode where Cancer got dumped by a horse (I’m guessing Saggitarius), but I didn’t read anything about Cancerians being vulnerable, though. Even the segments that say some stuff about Cancer confuse bc I’m not if that’s how Cancerians work. If you’re an expert on zodiac signs or a Cancerian, please tell me some stuff about Cancer and your opinion on the character who is supposed to respresent it.

  • I really want some way to go back through these episodes because I have these surreal memory of one episode. The only thing I remember is it ended with Aquarius fucking crying in a bathroom stall, no punchline, nothing; it kind of disturbed me after seeing all the other episodes, I wish I could remember what prompted this moment but I can’t. Most of the episode was just them crying by the way.

  • I find it nice that I finally picked up a vid posted only an hour or two ago by my subscriptions, but I clicked just to see Spark’s recent and decent “Sabertooth” avatar in action. Now that I think of it, why would Saber call a cat like Vergo “e621” after his Sabertooth avatar was unveiled? 📸📸📸📸🐱 Edit: “What the hell us your daily horoscope?” sounds like an ad YouTube would sponsor 💀

  • I watched the first Cancer Episode where she talks to the cat and I didn’t feel like perusal the other two because… there was no humor, no meaning, no resolution to the story… there was just a very painfully cringy conversation trying to in a sense simulate what the horoscope was saying… it didn’t even feel like a natural conversation

  • I think I’m going to redesign the characters for fun. First: Cancer. Her design is HORRENDOUS It’s mostly the mouth. It’s creepy. I get that they were doing the “Crabwalk” stature, but that did NOT work out. Gonna put actual thought into these, research astrology a bit (And my “research” I mean search up what aesthetic fits with which ha ha funni star sign) to give them more personality. So tempted to make Aries a punk/emo/goth person. It’s a goat. I really wanna give them a Baphomet inspo.

  • What’s funny about this is that there is a show like this that is really popular; Aggretsuko, or Aggressive Retsuko, is an anime about a red panda who works with other animals in a Japanese trading firm. It has a cute art style, well developed characters and a good, heart felt story. It’s worth a watch if you have time.

  • This isn’t even scratching the surface of Quibi’s wildness. They had a show called “Murder House Flip”, where a renovation crew renovated houses where murders took place and then tried to sell them. It wasn’t even a parody, they flipped actual murder houses, including the home of the voice actress for Ducky in Land Before Time

  • I actually have a show recommendation. You don’t have to make a article on it or anything, I just feel like you’d enjoy it, as it’s one of the best things I’ve watched recently. It’s called Epithet Erased and seven episodes are on YouTube. I don’t want to spoil too much but it’s based on a campaign style game made by the creator of the show, and takes a lot of elements of that. In my opinion, it has a great combination of comedy and heartfelt wholesomeness. Obviously you don’t have to take my suggestion, as it’s just that, but it’s here if you’re really bored at some point.

  • I kinda like the basic premise of having animal characters based on the horoscope. But naming them after the horoscope and constantly bringing up horoscopes is a bit much. But I get that they were trying to not just make a show about the horoscope but a show that you check daily like the horoscope, which is what made it terrible.

  • Holy cow the quota for animator of this show is nutt, 20 mins everyday!? For perspective, for 2D rig animation TV show, we have around 3 weeks to finish 10-12 mins of episode and that’s for just animation part, not post production 20 mins per day is just down right insanity. My deepest condolence for those production people who work on this show, look like a hell of the project to work on ;a ; )

  • The reason you can’t find any streaming episodes is because it would not make any sense. The point is that the episode that come out THAT DAY is your horoscope for that day. So why would anyone want to watch old horoscopes? 12 episodes came out a day, one for each star sign. So if you were a Virgo, you’d watch the Virgo episode everyday, and probably never watch any other, or I think that was the idea.

  • So 9:35, there is a period of time approximately every two years when Earth is about to overtake Mars in its orbit where, if you track Mars’ position in the sky night to night it will appear to have gone backwards for a time before continuing to travel in the “correct” direction across the sky. This makes the trajectory look kind of like a backwards Z. Anyway, the astrology stuff is complete bunkum, but I wanted to share that this is a real astronomical (not astrological) phenomenon that occurs because Earth is in a faster, more inner orbit to Mars. The same happens to Jupiter and the other outer planets but they move so slowly in their orbits and are so far away that its barely noticeable.

  • The “Mars backwards” thing is actually true, but not in a literal way! From the perspective of Earth, Mars can sometimes move backwards, but that’s just because of the relative distance between Earth and Mars caused by their respective orbits. The equivalent of perusal a runner pass/get passed from another runner’s pov!

  • 9:25 If you’re ever heard astrology jokes about mercury in gatorade or something to that effect, this is what it’s referring to. Planets move across the night sky because they’re way closer than the stars, but because they don’t orbit the Earth they occasionally change directions for a bit which is called retrograde motion.

  • I think the writters for the show felt ashamed of themselves about their work that instead of letting of all the ratings blow over consisting of critiques and critisms, they decided to commit “Scorch Earth” which is destroy anything (the same thing Quibi’s doing for being a failure) that is related to the horoscope project: written scripts for the show were burned to ash, files containing the episodes deleted completely, the wiki (if there was really a website) for the show snapped outof existence, and the show itself becoming nothing but a fading memory until it disappeared after these words were spoken: “The whole world will forget about Your Daily Horoscope” So yeah Quibi has gone to hell, anything that was involved with the show: obliterated upon recognition heck, I can sense a couple or maybe a handful of subtle jokes which unfortunately were missed opportunities what could’ve made the show good but alas we’ll never know about this obscure show since Quibi has gone the way of the dodo. Side note: I was hoping some freelancing animators who’ve heard about it could’ve rewrote and made it better but this show’s a lost cause, none is worth salvaging from the ash & rubble

  • Honestly I like the concept for this show. Obviously the deadlines were probably a bit excessive, but like, if they did one batch per week instead of one per day, it’d probably be fine, given how short they are, and how simple the animation is. Obviously I haven’t seen them myself so I can’t speak to the writing, but there’s wiggle room for good jokes if they had writers who could come up with them. This sort of thing would probably do well on YouTube or maybe newgrounds. Shame it went to quibi instead. I think it would have a decent audience otherwise

  • While I certainly don’t think any of the quibi content was any good, it truly got boned by the CV19. Their whole idea was like, “this is a short show you could watch on your commute, riding on the train or bus” and then commutes stopped. The idea of condensed episodes of a show similar to CSI, NCIS, whatever, could actually be interesting. Most of those shows are built around the commercial breaks anyways, so having a bite size chunk of the episode to watch could be interesting. I don’t think Quibi ever got that clever with anything, but I could see how it would have worked.

  • I used quibi before it shut down, this was pretty much the only thing there that was worth perusal, maybe not $8 worthy but still enjoyable. I personally don’t care for astrology, but just getting a fortune with a little animation was something to look forward to everyday when working from home. Good concept, average quality, kinda wish it came back.

  • Quibi was kind of a scam to begin with. Companies were less interested in making quick 10 minute articles, and instead took full shows and movies, chopped them to bits, massacred their aspect ratio, sold the pieces to us. Then they could release the full product later on a better service (if they cared), or just write the work off as a loss.

  • The idea of a show with characters based on Zodiac signs is actually really nice imo! Thing is, I’ve seen more interesting OCs based on astrology on DeviantArt when I was still on there 10 years ago. So, yeah, the writing failed miserably. It seems like the writers didn’t actually care for the idea / put in no effert, because this could have been worked with.

  • The jokes and humor remind me a lot, A LOT to Garfield strips. You make a daily joke, doesn’t matter if it’s funny, you have to get it out the door before the next day rolls in and magically someone gives you billions for no apparent reason. I guess the “obnoxious but consistent” approach actually works.

  • I think Your Daily Horscopes could’ve worked if it was more quality driven and did different seasons to a highlight feature of each group of the signs per element. That would’ve been better instead of pushing out 12 episodes a week. Its also to say for the art too, they were okay meh wise, but to push the designs and personalities better would be great! Personality wise in astrology there is more than just your Sun sign, they could’ve taken the human-ish route that if a personality trait doesn’t exactly fit, it could be explained through their Moon, Mercury or Venus sign for example; that would make them more believable as characters and would’ve in theory backed up why they aren’t straight edged stereotypes of the signs and could’ve brought more depth to them.

  • 9:40 “When Mars moves backwards.” I have so much to say to this. Mars, like any other stable, celestial object, is in orbit, and it does not change directions. It LOOKS LIKE it changes directions, if you are not on the thing it is orbiting (the sun), for instance, on Earth, it will sometimes appear to reverse direction. This is called the planet’s “epicycle.” BASICALLY, if you believe Mars moves backwards, you believe that the Earth is the center of the Universe. You have to be anti-science to like this show.

  • he announcement of the shutdown left the fate of existing, upcoming, and planned original programming in “development hell” as Quibi does not own the rights to any of their programming, since their deals with the creators of their original programming allowed them to retain the copyright to their content and distribute it in traditional forms after a few years. It’s possible we might see this somewhere else down the line So we

  • Good work on having to research this series. It’s too bad that Daily Horoscope crapped out so hard. If there had been much less content, not tied to Quibi, and had way more focus on the writing, I could have seen this series as something interesting. Something like the Chinese Zodiac might have made more sense and utilized each of the animals to perfectly reflect their personalities.

  • Hello Saber, Can you please do episode about Goat story 2 with cheese, please? It is the sequels of Goat story (the first 3D animated film from Czech Republic). It was big part of my child hood, so I will be very happy if I see some not Czech Human recting to the movie . And the movie is on youtube in English. Your big fan

  • This is pure speculation but given how the episode provided all only have the horoscope for the character.I am guessing these episodes were meant to function AS a daily Horoscope with an attached skit/marketable character. 1200 episodes at 1 minute 30 is 30 hours which is an absurd amount of content for someone to watch especially on a short form platform like this. but if they were intending to upload 1 episode daily for each of the 12 signs in perpetuity then thats just over three months worth of uploads ready to go. This would explain why the animation was so focused on quantity over quality because they needed to consistent and streamlined process to keep this going indefinitely and they weren’t concerned with quality because they are meant to be throw away like the daily horoscopes. It would also explain why so much of it is lost media, if the majority of episodes were simply never released before the platform shut down.

  • I looked to see what was going away after quibi announced it would be shutting down an other I didn’t notice or it was on a different page I recall looking at there catalog and saying really this is all you had to offer? I’ve seen mobile apps with a better article library. Like angry birds tv, Disney interactive clips, cut the rope, or even noog before it had the same fate. Also it shows how even something in the 2020s can become lost media.

  • I like Astrology, not to the point where I obsess over it, and three years ago I just dodged a bullet there. My parents never got Quibi let alone cared for the platform. Quantity over quality for streaming services was a bad idea from the get-go, including Quibi. The name felt like slang for taking a shit.

  • I have watched so many articles on Quibi cause i was/still am so fascinated by it and its quick down fall. In all of the articles i’ve seen that talked about the content on Quibi, not one person mentioned this show. I feel like that speaks volumes on how forgettable this show was and literally people cared for it.
