Disney World has introduced Extended Evening Hours, a special perk for guests staying at Deluxe resort hotels. These hours allow guests to enjoy a different theme park on specified nights for about 2 hours after it closes to the general public. To participate, guests must scan their MagicBands at each ride or attraction they wish to experience.
For extended evening hours, valid admission and a MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass, or Key to the World Card are required. If using a ticket with the Park Hopper option that requires a theme park reservation, guests must enter the park where they made their reservation before visiting other theme parks. Extended Evening Theme Park Hours occur two nights per week in total, most Mondays at Epcot from 9:00 pm until 11 pm and most Wednesdays at Magic Kingdom.
Extended Evening Hours are available on specific days to those staying at a Deluxe resort. After Hours appears to require tickets and is quite pricy. It grants these guests access to a select park, on select nights, for extra time after the park has closed to other guests. Select attractions are eligible for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, and a Cast Member will scan the MagicBand of guests prior to boarding or entering the park.
In summary, Extended Evening Hours at Walt Disney World are a special perk for guests staying at Deluxe resort hotels, allowing them to enjoy a different theme park on specified nights for about 2 hours after it closes to the general public. Guests must scan their MagicBands at each ride or attraction they wish to experience during extended evening hours.

What happens if I miss my Guardians of the Galaxy ride?
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tron Lightcycle / Run have different operating capacities, with some attractions allowing late guests to ride after scanning their park ticket at the entrance. However, Tron Lightcycle / Run has limited capacity, and guests are encouraged to arrive during their reservation window to avoid disappointment. If a significant time difference occurs, guests may not be allowed to ride the attraction. Guest experiences representatives, often wearing blue, are on-site to help in extenuating circumstances, ensuring that guests can still experience the attraction.
The attraction’s large capacity allows it to progress rapidly through boarding groups, leaving ample time for late guests. However, Tron Lightcycle / Run may not maintain the same operating capacity, and guests who miss their reservation window may not be allowed to ride.
Does Genie+ work during Extra Magic Hours?
Disney Genie+ Service currently operates during regular park hours, excluding Lightning Lane return times during Disney After Hours events. However, Disney After Hours offers shorter standby wait times for popular attractions, such as TRON Lightcycle/Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which will have shorter lines an hour or two into the event. To enjoy the event, queue up for TRON Lightcycle/Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in the second half of the night.
Spend the early part of the evening in Frontierland and Adventureland before heading to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Arriving before Magic Kingdom Park closes allows for Happily Ever After and Disney Enchantment fireworks on the same night. If you have any questions or suggestions for future Disney After Hours, feel free to contact planDisney.
How do they know if you have Extra Magic Hours?
The MagicBand is a feature that allows guests to enter the park during Extra Magic Hours by scanning their MagicBand through their My Disney Experience account. Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin or Shades of Green, which also offer the Extra Magic Hours benefit, must also show their resort ID. If you don’t have a valid resort reservation linked to the MagicBand, you won’t be able to enter the park. The Disney Parks Moms Panel is always happy to help with any questions you may have about your Walt Disney World vacation.
Is there a 6pm virtual queue for TRON?
Guests of the Disney Resort are invited to join a virtual queue at 6 p. m. for a third drop time, which is exclusively reserved for those staying at Deluxe, Deluxe Villa, Swan and Dolphin, and Shades of Green resorts. It should be noted that this bonus boarding group does not contribute to the daily attraction virtual queue limits and is only accessible on select nights during extended evening theme park hours at Epcot or Magic Kingdom.
Can you ride Guardians twice in a day?
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a highly sought-after ride at EPCOT, but it is only available with a virtual queue or Lightning Lane Pass. To experience it twice in one day, you can secure both options. The Lightning Lane Single Pass is not included in the attractions eligible for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, so a separate fee is required. This allows you to use your Lightning Lane Multi Pass to secure three other rides and attractions for the day.
Prioritize using one pass for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, as it is one of the longest attraction lines at EPCOT. After your space adventure, make a stop at Club Cool to enjoy various sodas from around the world and take a breather. If you haven’t made dining reservations, Le Cellier Steakhouse is highly recommended for its Signature Poutine.
Can you ride Tron during extended evening hours?
Guests who receive a boarding group for Extended Theme Park Evening Hours can still enter the Virtual Queue at 6 p. m. on days when Extended Evening Hours are offered. Individual Lightning Lanes can provide three rides on TRON in a single day. Guests attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party can also get a second boarding group during regular hours. Rider Switch is available for all Disney World rides with a height restriction, regardless of whether they are riding with the Virtual Queue or Lightning Lane Single Pass.
How busy are Extra Magic Hours?
During Extra Magic Hour (EMH) at Disney World, the Magic Kingdom and Studios tend to have more crowded crowds than Epcot. During summer, lines at headliner attractions can be long at midnight. To enjoy the evening EMH, it is recommended to stay until the end of the hour, as lines may not diminish until the last 30-60 minutes. Visitors must show their valid resort room key before entering the queue for an attraction, and park admission is required to enter a theme park during EMH.
Epcot’s EMH extends the closing time to 11 p. m. or midnight most nights of the year, allowing guests to stay up late. Guests are spread among a few open attractions. Evening Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom were discontinued in Spring 2011 and are no longer offered. Food offerings may be limited during EMH Evenings, so it is important to consider this when planning dining. FASTPASS is not available during EMH Evenings except during the busiest times of the year.
Can you ride Guardians of the Galaxy during extended evening hours?
EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a new ride that takes visitors on an interplanetary voyage to Xandar, a planet not visited by any other country. The ride begins at the Guardians of the Galaxy building near EPCOT’s front entrance in World Discovery (formerly Future World East). Guests using the standby queue can enter through doors on the left side of the entrance, while those using Lightning Lane can enter through doors on the right.
The pre-show area at the park resembles a cross between EPCOT’s Test Track pavilion and Animal Kingdom’s Dinosaur, with curved walkways around various display items, including the history of Xandar and the introduction of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. Joining a Boarding Group is the only way to ride during EETPH.
How does Magic Hour work in Disney World?
Morning Extra Magic Hours at Disney resorts allow guests to enter the parks an hour before everyone else, allowing them to experience headliner attractions. To tour during these hours, it is recommended to arrive before park opening, as the earlier you arrive, the shorter the waits. If you cannot arrive at park opening, consider going to another theme park. To enter a theme park during Morning Extra Magic Hours, you will likely need to show your valid resort room key at the turnstile or Transportation and Ticket Center.
Parks with Morning Extra Magic Hours are typically more crowded, so it is recommended to leave the park by late morning when lines get long. Magic Kingdom and Epcot are most beneficial during these hours, while Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have limited attractions and may be of negligible value. Animal Kingdom is often a good park to visit during these hours, as it is less crowded in the afternoon than other parks.
Not all attractions are open during Morning Extra Magic Hours, so it is important to know which ones are open and plan your tour accordingly. Eating before leaving or packing a snack can help delay lunch until around 11:00 a. m. when restaurants open, and food lines will be short. FASTPASS tickets are generally available during these hours, but return times will not be until the park has opened to the general public.
