How does armor actually work?

Body armor is a protective layer of clothing that absorbs and disperses impact energy from bullets, preventing them from penetrating and dissipating forces that can cause nonpenetrating injuries to internal organs. Bulletproof vests work by absorbing and dispersing this energy, preventing the bullet from penetrating and dissipating the forces that can cause nonpenetrating injuries. However, no material exists that allows body armor to be constructed from a single ply of material.

Modern concealable bulletproof vests provide protection in various levels, designed to defeat common low- and medium-energy handgun rounds. These vests are typically semirigid or rigid, incorporating hard materials like ceramics and metals. Due to their weight and bulkiness, bulletproof vests are impractical for routine use by uniformed patrol officers and are reserved for tactical situations where they are worn externally for short periods when confronted with higher-level threats.

How does armor value work in TotK?

Armor is a type of clothing and protective covering that Link can wear in games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Each piece of armor has a numeric rating that contributes to Link’s overall defense. A higher defense level reduces the damage he takes from enemy attacks. In Breath of the Wild, each damage number is shown numerically, with each number dealing a quarter of a Heart to Link. Wearing armor can decrease the amount of damage he takes.

Armor often pairs with other pieces to form Armor Sets. Some pieces of armor also provide Effects that can boost Link’s attack, movement speed, stealth capabilities, or protect him from environmental hazards like Lightning, Fire, heat, Ice, and the cold. Most clothing can be enhanced up to four times by the revived Great Fairies, with the number of available upgrades dependent on the number of Great Fairies restored. Each upgrade comes with a certain cost of Materials, and Armor Sets that have been enhanced at least twice may provide Set Bonuses.

  • Kilton is such a W brother. He remains supportive of his brother’s dream when he himself thinks it is farfetched, gives his brother his stand so he can be safe in his travels, and accepts his brother is happy and free when he hears he ultimately fulfilled his dream knowing he’d probably never see him again.

  • If you do this, dont forget the caves on the starting sky island. It has 4. The cave in the whirlpool in the zora resavoir also has one, even though satori wont mark it as a cave. It will still get a check. 152 shrines. 120 Light Roots. 80 Addison sign. 147 Bubblefrogs. Ah. Ya know? I don’t think I’m gonna do 1000 koroks. Yea, no. Rather die, I think.

  • Turning into a Blupee may not have been the result Koltin was expecting, but it’s still a nice touch. But now, I’m wondering if instead of gobbling down 101 Bubbul gems to trigger a transformation after having sporadic snacks of the first 46, perhaps chowing down on all 147 at once would have had a stronger chance to trigger a change into a true Satori. Still, the fact that it worked in the first place is incredible. Further proof in my eyes of the absolute magic that thrives in Hyrule.

  • This is such a bittersweet ending. Like he became a blupee which is not a satori (which is the god horse). And he has essentially died, like he will never be able to really talk with people again or see his brother. He kinda accomplished his dream and seems to have new blupee friends but Kilton seems so sad, taking his balloon to satori mountain and speaking kindly about him. I wonder if Kilton goes to satori mountain sometimes hoping one of the blupees there is his brother.

  • Outside of breath and tears Twilight Princess is probably my favorite mainline game, I even had the archery practice Wii game that went along with it and the paraglider in tears is fantastic and I’ve found it hard to not use a separate one but I think this is the only other paraglider that I would go out of my way to use at least from what I’ve seen so far

  • I just found them all yesterday. I like the glider. I figured it wouldn’t give you anything crazy. But man. Took me quite a while to find the last 5 or so caves. Tried the cherry blossom trees but every time I pinged a cave it showed I already found it. Then I used heroes path mode and just flew a hoverbike around places I hadn’t really ever been with the sensor looking for bubbulfrogs. My last two caves that took me forever to find were both around Zora’s domain which was kind of funny because I had already found so many caves around there I figured they had to be somewhere else.

  • I am trying to get to this point bc Koltin’s Fabric is my favourite, but I am missing like 3 caves! And Koltin can’t sense any more specific locations!! I’ve talked to him in his spots south of Lookout Landing, east of Lake Hylia, near the Crab Cave in Eldin, next to the Akkala Tower north of Tarrey Town and his spot near the Gerudo Tower up on that cliff, but he gives me the same shpeel every time!! I’m probably just missing a spot he shows up in that’s near where Im missing these caves, but dear Hylia this is driving me spare!

  • When i saw my first bubbul frog on the great sky island i had that blupee/lord of the mountain type look, and i remembered that satori was a vegetarian and he didn’t kill any animals, so i then decided to not kill/catch any animals for the entirety of my playthrough, sooooo i guess im missing out on that gear

  • It’s the same reason they have so many Korok Seeds and why they don’t give you a good reward. They don’t want to make people feel like they have to do it, actually they want to discourage people from doing it. lol Especially with the “reward” for collecting all the Korok Seeds. There’s so many Bubbul Gems and Korok Seeds to try to give the player enough to find to get the rewards (items from Koltin & inventory expansion from Hetsu.) Glad I watched this article before I bothered looking into those Bubbul Gems. Not doing that. Will still get any Bubbul Gems I come across though.

  • I’m totally doing this, though not as a priority. Mostly I just plan on exploring all of the caves. Probably not getting every Korok, though. Also, in English, a double consonant blocks a vowel from being lengthened by a following vowel. But I’ll allow it, since it’s a made up word. Also also, there is no R in Blupee, but that was a different article.

  • I am missing 5 bubbul gems and Koltin won’t just tell me where the frogs. I swear I checked every glowing beam from every cave, I don’t know how I’m still missing five. This is going to drive me insane. EDIT: I DID IT! The last four were lurking around hyrule in caves I would’ve never found without a guide, and then the last one was on the Great Sky Island, a.k.a the start of the damn game! Can’t believe I missed it but glad I found all the bubbul gems for the most part on my own. Also, great article. Kinda forgot to mention it.

  • I thought Bubbulfrogs respawned 😂. Guess I better get hunting. Nice to know the checkmark means you’ve got the bubbulfrog, I always just assumed it meant you entered and explored, pretty sure I’ve got a few without ticks so I can find those ones easily. Also nice to know that you’re the cause of a species going extinct, at least in Hyrule anyway.

  • Hey Austin! Try going to the Burlpee Burrow in the depths! You might see him there? Ps. Burpee Burrow is located where Satori Mountain is but in the depths, you get to see burpees lurk and you can make shooting them with arrows as a mini game! Same with the cave (that’s on Satori Mount.) in the over world.

  • I was so worried about missing previous bubbulfrogs, because when I started with them, I just kinda assumed they respawned, so I didn’t mark anything. It’s a relief to hear that they’re automatically marked off. Definitely going to try for this last one. Another thing to do before starting to really go for the koroks.

  • Fyi: the “I can sense all Bubbulfrogs” dialogue allows you to ask him for the location of a cave you haven’t gotten the bubbulgem for yet. Unfortunately, it isn’t that exploitable. After a while, he stops knowing any specific locations and just knows how many are left. I suspect he has a set amount of times he can answer you before running out, but I can’t be sure. I know it’s not due to how close he is to one, because he gave me one location in Faron when I asked him in Central Hyrule, but when I asked at Tabatha snowfield he couldn’t answer even though there was one just a little north of him.

  • You shoulda shot him and got rupees from him! lol Sooo with that armor do YOU really lose rupees if you get shot? Does it ward off enemies or allow one to get closer to the Booble Bunnies or something or just worthless? I like those mob drops though and the paraglider cloth is cool. If one changes it and then wants a previous one does it remain in inventory? I haven’t changed mine with any yet. Thanks Austin John!

  • Thank you for this article. I have been debating on wither to do this quest or not because I really like the frogs. But this ending actually made me cry, I am a softy. So I will do the quest, but I will leave the caves I visit often for the very last so I can see the frogs throughout the game and enjoy them. Thank you so much for such detailed article as always.

  • Does wearing the whole set reduce rupee consumption when taking hits ? It’s not upgradable, so there isnt a hidden effect, why wear the set if you only need 1 piece to lose rupees instead of hearts ? He asked knowing full well he’s currently running around in a hideous mismatched clown suit for stats.

  • Wow I didn’t think Nintendo would take a dark turn on this one, this man basically killed himself in a sense he doesn’t have his intelligence anymore he just runs around like a wild animal, and notice how kilton was talking, “take his stall to his favorite place” sounds like something someone would say abt a family member tht died, it’s like a scientist doing an experiment on himself and turns into a horrid monster the person u knew is basically dead at point

  • Just a small tip for people who are planning to use the set of armor throughout their playthrough. Remember, you should have a hight amount of rupees You should avoid taking too much hits It is still possible to lose hearts against heavy attacks Dont use this set too often against lynels. They can easily drain your rupees

  • Blupee’s are so cute and think it’s great he turned into what he wanted, but still kinda sad. I hope his brother Kilton visits him at his favorite spot on Satori mountain from time to time and just tells him about the amazing sculptures he is working on even if the convo is one sided I like to imagine his brother will still listen to him.
