NASA recently announced that it would update the astrological signs for the first time in 2,000 years, causing confusion among 86% of people. The ancient Babylonians trimmed out Ophiuchus, which would change Scorpio’s window to just seven days and shift the entire astrology chart, affecting some Pisces, Leos, and Libras. NASA claims that it has not altered the zodiac signs but has calculated the math of the Babylonians.
Posts sharing the claim that NASA changed the zodiac to include a 13th astrological sign are false. NASA addressed the claim on its Twitter page, explaining that the chart talking about the “new” zodiac, inserting Ophiuchus before Sagittarius, from the end of November to the beginning of 2021. A new machine furthers a technology company’s aims at providing astrological readings using artificial intelligence.
A new story about an old misunderstanding is once again circulating, with NASA setting the record straight. NASA is the federal agency dedicated to studying and exploring astronomy, not astrology, and has not made any such changes. NASA released a statement aimed at kids, updating the birthday-constellation alignment based on the stars’ actual placement in space.
NASA has confirmed the existence of the 13th Zodiac sign, Ophiuchus, meaning your horoscope is supposedly no longer the same as it once was. As a person under the sign Ophiuchus, the description is fairly accurate as a sun sign. This sign adaption would change every one else’s horoscope. NASA has since clarified that it did not change the zodiac signs and that the space agency studies the science of astronomy, not astrology.

The space agency claimed there are actually 13 signs of the zodiac.
Is there any validity to astrology?
Astrology has not been a part of scientific research, as it has not been able to generate testable expectations or establish the validity of its ideas. This is a common issue in science, where scientists often test ideas that turn out to be wrong. Astrology has not changed its ideas in response to contradictory evidence. Sharing one’s findings and critically evaluating others’ results is not integral to practicing astrology, and astrologers can go their entire career without presenting findings at scientific meetings or publishing articles.
Consequently, scientific studies involving astrology have stopped after attempting and failing to establish the validity of astrological ideas, and there are no documented cases of astrology contributing to a new scientific discovery.
Why isn’t Ophiuchus recognized?
Ophiuchus was omitted from the Zodiac due to its short time inside the sky and its small size, taking up only nineteen degrees of the ecliptic. The symbol for medicine in modern times is Ophiuchus’s staff, with the snake twined around it. The term Ophiophobia, after Ophiuchus, refers to a fear of snakes. The Mesopotamians chose to omit Ophiuchus due to its shorter time inside the sky and its small size.
How true is astrology?
Astrology, a long-standing scientific field, has been criticized for lacking clear evidence that stars and planets affect us. Astrology relies on stories and ideas that are difficult to prove with science, as it relies on guessing about patterns in the sky rather than conducting experiments. Additionally, astrology’s workings are based on old ideas about the universe, which have evolved over time. This has led to some astrologers’ predictions not aligning with current knowledge.
For example, the zodiac sign may not be accurate due to precession, which has caused stars to move since the first invention of astrology. Furthermore, astrology lacks a clear explanation for how stars and planets could affect us, with some astrologers suggesting it is due to the stars, but scientists argue these theories are too weak to have a significant impact on us.
What is the truth about Ophiuchus?
The Ophiuchus constellation has connections to Greek and Roman mythology, with ancient Greeks relating it to Apollo, a Trojan priest killed by sea serpents, and the Romans to Asclepius, a medical healer who learned to warn away death by watching snakes. However, Asclepius’ healing powers were not well-received by Hades, who believed his flow of dead souls to the Underworld would cease due to his healing powers. Zeus, Hades’ brother, killed Asclepius and created a constellation in his honor. The constellation has a right ascension of 17h, a declination of -8°, and 15 main stars.
Is Ophiuchus a real zodiac sign?
Ophiuchus, the 13th constellation of the zodiac, is often associated with the sun born between November 30 and December 18. Although not an official zodiac constellation, it can be seen near the southern horizon from the Northern Hemisphere during July, August, and September evenings. The constellation is located on the Scorpion and its red star Antares. From the Southern Hemisphere, Ophiuchus is closer to overhead, with its brightest star being Rasalhague. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) established the official boundary lines for all 88 constellations in the 1930s.
Why does astrology ignore Ophiuchus?
The astronomical zodiac is an imaginary belt along the celestial equator, consisting of 12 ancient constellations named after their shapes. The zodiac is divided into 12 equal, 30-degree portions, each corresponding to a sign: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Greek astronomer Hipparchus of Nicaea, in the 2nd century BC, deduced that the celestial sphere had a retrograde motion, known as precession.
This motion is due to the gravitational influence of other bodies in the Solar System and the Earth’s roundness, causing the relative positions of stars with respect to the equator and poles to vary throughout a 26, 000-year cycle, during which the Earth completes a revolution around the ecliptic axis.
Are astrology predictions true or false?

How to identify a fake astrologer?
In astrology, it is crucial to choose an astrologer who follows ethical practices and doesn’t exploit vulnerabilities. Trustworthy astrologers focus on providing guidance rather than instilling fear. Reviews and testimonials from others who have consulted the same astrologer can provide valuable information about the astrologer’s reliability and accuracy. Many reputable astrologers offer trial sessions or consultations at a lower cost, allowing individuals to experience their approach firsthand without a significant financial commitment. The upcoming Astro event “The Open Mind Astro Summit 2023” organized by The Times of India will provide more insight into how astrology helps us grow in life and how to use its magic in our favor.
Is Ophiuchus official?
Ophiuchus is not included in standard astrological zodiacs, but some sidereal astrologers consider it as the 13th zodiacal sign. The zodiac consists of 12 constellations and 12 equal segments, with each sign representing a segment. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces are familiar signs, but Ophiuchus may not be familiar to some. The question is whether one would want to be an Ophiuchus or if they would want to be in a sidereal zodiac.
Is there scientific proof astrology is real?
Astrology is a belief system that suggests a connection between astronomical phenomena and human events or personality descriptions. However, it has been criticized by the scientific community for lacking explanatory power and scientific testing has found no evidence to support its premises or effects. The most famous test, led by Shawn Carlson, concluded that natal astrology performed no better than chance. Astrology has not demonstrated its effectiveness in controlled studies and has no scientific validity, making it regarded as pseudoscience.
There is no proposed mechanism by which stars and planets’ positions and motions could affect people and events on Earth in the way astrologers claim, which contradicts well-understood aspects of biology and physics. Modern scientific inquiry into astrology focuses on the correlation between astrological traditions and the influence of seasonal birth in humans.
Is astrology haram in Islam?
The Hadith, a collection of Islamic religious teachings, is a significant part of the Islamic faith. It outlines the instructions and practices of Muhammad, who criticized the legality and illegality of astrology. According to Abu Dawud, seeking knowledge from the stars is considered witchcraft, which is inherently forbidden in Islam. The Hadith also emphasizes that rain is a blessing bestowed only by Allah, and any belief that rain is a result of other beings is considered disbelief.
The Hadith also mentions the stars, stating that those who suggest rain originates from a star are considered disbelievers in Allah. This concept of astrology and the belief in celestial beings’ influence on anything other than what is enshrined in the Quran and Hadith constitutes shirk (blasphemy) and leads one to leave the fold of the religion.
Second-century Islamic scholar Imam Ali, the fourth caliph of Islam and cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad, views astrology as fundamentally forbidden in the Islamic religion. He warns followers not to learn the science of stars except for guidance on land or sea, as it leads to divining and an astrologer is a diviner. This aligns with the Quran, which points to stars and astrology as only a means of navigation.
However, prominent scholars like Ibn Arabi and Ikhwan argue that planets are not considered God but do suggest each prophet with a specific planet/celestial being. Prophet Idris, also known as Enoch, was gifted with great knowledge of the stars and used his gift to meditate upon God’s grandeur and teach others. He believed that the stars and moon contributed to mankind and founded the study of the stars.
Different sects of Islam offer varying perspectives on the concept of astrology.
📹 No, NASA did not change your sign
If you keep up with astrology news, you might have noticed talks of Ophiuchus, the new 13th star sign. It’s anything but new.
I hate it, everyone told me i was Aries so im staying as an Aries! (April 15th) The 13th sign changed everything. I think that the people that are born before the change can have their old sign and the people that are born after the change have to stay as the new date signs. No matter what i’m staying an Aries and idc ♈
If NASA have faked the Moonlanding – shame on them ! But for this revelation about the zodiac – I totally forgive them. 👍 The Zodiac with Ophiuchus included is far more accurate. Kudos to them ! 👍 Here is the updated list of horoscopes thanks to Ophiuchus: Capricorn: Jan 20– Feb 16; Aquarius: Feb 16– March 11; Pisces: March 11– April 18;Aries: April 18 – May 13; Taurus: May 13 – June 21; Gemini: June 21 – July 20; Cancer: July 20 – August 10; Leo: August 10 – September 16, Virgo: September 16 – October 14, Libra: October 14 – November 23,Scorpio: November 23 – November 29, Ophiuchus: November 29 – December 17,Sagittarius: December 17 – January 20.
This Is your actual sign (galactic astrology) Aries: April 19 – May 14 Taurus: May 15 – June 21 Gemini: June 22 – July 20 Cancer: July 21 – August 10 Leo: August 11 – September 16 Virgo: September 17 – November 8 Libra: November 9 – November 23 Scorpio: November 24 – November 29 Ophihucus: NOVEMBER 30 – December 17 Sagittarius: December 18 – January 18 Capricorn: January 19 – February 16 Aquarius: February 17 – March 11 Pisces: March 12 – April 18
NASA is wrong, well in terms of the use of the current calendar to calculate the zodiac, since the ancient babylonians had 30 day months with quarterly months that had 31 due to them knowing of the earths wobble. That being said if you make all the months (including February) have 30 days, January/April/July/October having 31 days, and the 13 zodiac signs have a 28 day cycle, sagittarius will have 27 days due to the limit of 365 days in the year, then (based on my math of beginning on Jan 1 for the start of capricorn) only people born between Nov 5 to Dec 2 would be majorly affected as their zodiac would be ophiuchus rather than one of the classic 12 we are used to: Capricorn Jan 1 – Jan 28 Aquarius Jan 29- Feb 25 Pisces Feb 26- Mar 23 Aries Mar 24- Apr 21 Taurus Apr 22- May 18 Gemini May 19- Jun 16 Cancer Jun 17- Jul 14 (my sign) Leo Jul 15- Aug 11 Virgo Aug 12- Sep 9 Libra Sep 10- Oct 7 Scorpio Oct 8- Nov 4 (NASA tried to make it the shortest cycle) Ophiuchus Nov 5- Dec 2 Sagittarius Dec 3- Dec 30 Hope this clears it up for you that NASA’s take of astrology is wrong and has caused pointless chaos from their attempt to punish scorpio #staywokefam
idk how to feel cause I was a Leo but now it says I’m a cancer, I don’t really match up with cancer but at the same time I don’t match up with Leo’s either, I think both are really cool cause one is the sun and the other is the moon, and I love both of these animals but I feel like I have to decide on what to tell others :/
It changed again recently but I don’t believe it as when I was born my parents checked the dates there was then and it said leo I fit perfectly whith the leo sign and recently it changed to cancer I am nothing like a cancer I am a leo I feel it so I will always believe in the zodiac you got when u were born I am a leo
I was so confused when I first found out about Ophiochus, so I did a little bit of research and found out that people now are changing each sign’s period of time (I don’t know how to say it, sorry) I then found out that now I’m supposed to be an Aquarius, but no. If I can relate only to Pisces, I will stay as one.
Here are the correct dates for the star signs: Capricorn: Jan 20 – Feb 16 Aquarius: Feb 16 – March 11 Pisces: March 11 – April 18 Aries: April 18 – May 13 Taurus: May 13 – June 21 Gemini: June 21 – July 20 Cancer: July 20 – Aug 10 Leo: Aug 10 – Sept 16 Virgo: Sept 16 – Oct 30 Libra: Oct 30 – Nov 23 Scorpio: Nov 23 – Nov 29 Ophiuchus: Nov 29 – Dec 17 Sagittarius: Dec 17 – Jan 20
Your new sign Aries (April 19 – May 14) Taurus (May 15 – June 21) Gemini (June 22 – July 20) Cancer (July 21 – August 10) Leo (August 11 – September 16) Virgo (September 17 – November 1) Libra (November 2 – November 23) Scorpio (November 24 – November 29) Ophihucus (November 30 – December 20) Sagittarius (December 21 – January 20) Capricorn (January 21 – February 17) Aquarius (February 18 -March 12) Pisces (March 13 – April 18)
Anyone realise that the Earth they used is the one they used in the article “What the Earth would look like if all the ice melted”? I mean if you look at Earth in the article, you can see that there are already countries submerged in water (or have large pockets of water in its mainland) even though it looks nothing like it currently 😐
Found this on the internet… The sun passes in front of Ophiuchus from about November 30 to December 18. And yet no one ever says they’re born when the sun is in Ophiuchus. That’s because Ophiuchus is a constellation – not a sign – of the zodiac. Ophiuchus in Urania’s Mirror, a boxed set of 32 constellation cards first published in 1824.Jul 23, 2019
Neither you change it or not…im in Sagittarius but now scorpio and i dont care cause my parents as well as my friends and sister and brothers told me that neaither the 12 or 13 zodiac personalities…nor the Sagittarius and Scorpio’s personality…all they say is all of it was seen in me…im not being proud of it but you can ask my parents in it…cause no matter what am i…im still the person i am right now…change it? I dont care😊 all i want is that i want to be accept that im a human that exists in the world…and i love Sagittarius…but now scorpio and i dont care cause i love them all😊
Stars position always changes and we should not forget that our solar system is also tilted by 23 degrees. So I believe that NASA theory is correct. One thing more I always used to think that I m a VIRGO as I was born on 11th September, but due to actual positions of our solar system tilted planets my zodiac sign lie under LEO. So I don’t hesitate to consider myself as a LEO now, I always been behaving like it too (Stubborn, Aggressive, Adventurous, Passionate, etc) And don’t even know about it. So, I am a LEO 🦁♌♌♌♌♌🦁.
Lol, people actually thought NASA changed the zodiac? No, the thirteenth constellation is ancient. The ancients used the original 13 zodiacs for accurate agricultural purposes. See the lunar gravitational pull and ancient Mayan (or Aztec) pyramids. They were reflecting pools to track the stars, literally.
So dope knew something wasn’t right the constellations didn’t move it was always there it’s 88 constellations the sun always was direct with 13 of them they left ophiuchus out. We all already weren’t following the correct zodiac you always been this. Jus look at what you really are when you go by dates including ophuichus dates it makes way more sense. I did on so many ppl and it matches even more so dope. Thank you UNIVERSE FOR CLARITY✨✨✨✨
Originally astrology only had 10 signs not 12. So if the babylonians had a calendar that today astrology is based off of, it would have been a calendar of 10 months not 12. I don’t recall which signs were added (I think it may have been Aquarius and… maaaaybe Pisces. One of the later months of the year). I think they were add some time during the renaissance. But I do know that it was 10
So Capricorn is still the last sign? … I don’t want to be the last sign, can I replace ⛎? I still wanna be Capricorn it’s just that… CAPRICORN IS LITERALLY NEW YEARS SO OBVIOUSLY IT GOTTA BE THE FIRST SIGN! 😭😭😭 Anyways, what does ⛎ sign take (in days) like how Capricorn is Dec 25 (I think) – Jan 19.
If astrology wasn’t science NASA wouldn’t bother with it. This is old knowledge brought back to light. The public just wanted to know why it wasn’t common knowledge anymore. People would also like to know why NASA was messing with Pluto deciding whether or not it was a planet.🙄 ppl be like what ever NASSSSA. LOL Ssssss
Sooo… I have a question! Because of the 13th sign, would I now be a Leo? I’m born on the 5th of September btw so I was a virgo but now I am SO confused! Can someone please help me and reply to me??? Am i still a virgo?? Or am I different now?? Edit: *September 5th 2010 if the year makes a difference 🙂
For those who are about to hate and send death threats to all Ophiuchus-identifying or born peeps, please don’t. Do what you feel is best. If you feel like a Leo, great! Stay a Leo. If you’re a Taurus-guy, then awesome! However, don’t hate on the people who happened to identify as an Ophiuchus, and especially people who just happened to be born during the time of Ophiucus cause they didn’t really choose what star to be born under. Apparently, according to most astrologists, it’s your heart and personality that is the Zodiac sign. So, no death threats please, haha, thanks. 😬😅 In all honesty, Astrology and Astronomy don’t really line up with each other or mingle perfectly without running into some problems, so they’re kinda unrelated, as Astrology is a more spiritual thing, and Astronomy is scientific, so no need to change. Sincerely, An Outsider, No Bad Intent, Created This Message Cause I Got a Few Messages Where People Said Kill Yourself Even Though I Didn’t Choose to Be Born Under the Star Ophiuchus, Haha, Help Me, Friendly Astronomer Geek. P.S. Mention how I called myself an Astronomer in the closing, not Astrologer. No offense to Astrologers, the Astrology beliefs/spirituality/mindset is interesting to study and observe, I like to study religions, spiritual stuff, philosophy and fun crap like that.
With my whole heart i am a cancer, nothing will change and i wont allow it to myself that i would must be a gemini, i dont have a good relationship with geminis, always fails me or make me feel bad of how honest they are to me and make me feel bad…. i love my sign, i know its the one sensitive and overemotional but i am used to mine and i was born with him in my feels so why would i change something that totally hate me and isnt ME ! nono i dont agree…
So wait I AM A LIBRA BY SIENCE? :0 I mean I don’t even believe horoscopes but ayyy niceee I am Vriska AND Terezi now A few years ago zodiacs just had my attention, that yes I am a Scorpio, mom told me that, she is into horoscopes,Ok I am aware But Homestuck got my interest 1 4M 4 PYROP3 D4NG 1T,OOOOOOH 3333333444444444HHHH B4BY
Because of astrology and zodiac being just a made up thingy you can have fun with, rather than real science affecting one’s life, you still may identify yourself as you would’ve 3000 years ago. But I however, who wasn’t even into this mess into the first place, will just accept that I’m a leo instead of a virgo, and move along
Hello, the true is, Ophiuchus will be part as a 13th zodiac because newborn babies in 2020 or later will be allowed as a Ophiuchus sign⛎. The new zodiac dates will used as the newborn babies in 2020 or later, and we don’t change your zodiac unless you’re not born in 2020 or later So those who are born in 2020 may be allowed in Ophiuchus
Im changing to aquarius im little bit happy so that people that i hate not having same zodiac as mine and pisces is 15% of me and aquarius is the rest i love aquarius people in my group they are my realy good friend so i wanna change my zodiac so im not gonna confuse again about my personality are not similar in pisces
