A new analysis reveals that the “conspiracy mentality” is linked to personality traits such as low trust, an increased need for closure, and feelings of insecurity. Conspiracy theories have been present for at least the past 100 years, and their impact on individuals can be severe. The reasons for believing in conspiracy theories can be grouped into three categories: the desire for understanding and certainty; the belief in alien rulers, shark attacks, and elaborate hoaxes; and the fear of being manipulated.
Belief in conspiracy theories often arises after surprising events like terrorist attacks, mass shootings, and plane crashes. These theories are driven by motives such as epistemic (understanding one’s environment) and existential (being safe). Rational arguments and myth busting may not change the mind of a conspiracy theorist, but there are other ways to do so.
Conspirational beliefs have significant political correlates and consequences, which can undermine trust and participation in democratic processes. They can also stoke anxiety and uncertainty, potentially even threatening the health of those who espouse them. For example, the Covid-19 pandemic has led to the spread of conspiracy theories, which can be dangerous and difficult to identify, debunk, and counter.
In conclusion, conspiracy theories have been a constant occurrence for at least the past 100 years, with their survivability aided by psychological biases and distrust of official sources.

📹 Fact-checking the shattering teleprompter conspiracy theory at Trump rally shooting
Elizabeth Landers from the Scripps News Disinformation Desk investigates claims that Trump was injured by shattered glass from …
Since I began perusal Scripps News over this past week I continue to notice how your news outlet consistently provides updated and informative coverage throughout the day regarding news pertaining to BOTH parties in a responsible and professional manner. 💛 It is so refreshing to not have to listen to personal insults, inciteful comments and one sided opinions and viewpoints while trying to stay updated on the days events🙏🇺🇸🕊️⚖️💛
I’m not a huge fan of fact-checking (mainly because so many websites do it so poorly), but if I had to pick a preferred format for it, this would be it. As a former student of philosophy/logic I love this style of contradiction presentation. Unfortunately, truth is far less sexy than fiction, and social media rarely rewards truth.
I want to know about the female with black hair in a ponytail and dark black sunglasses sitting behind Trump who looked towards the shooter moments before the 1st shot, then sat still without flinching when everyone around her was hitting the deck. Then she immediately pops her phone up and is recording. VERY SUSPICIOUS!
yeah as we know the bullets went behind Trump obviously one struck Corey in the head and that was pretty far off of his target. And the photo of the bullet behind him was taken at the time he realized he was hit as you can see him wince at the same time of that photo. The alignment of the teleprompter was off from the angle of those rounds.
Did you know the Secret Service failed to preserve all radio communications? Who made the decision not to use the water tower for countersniper rooftop security? Who gave the order for the countersniper in the windows, to leave their positions? Where is the Home Hardware ladder, not used for getting onto the roof?
And someone seeing something odd here ???? look at the article at 0:29. Look at the lady on the right side with black cap with white logo, sunglasses, white shirt, behind a sign. look at her for a change and how she behaves. I think it is strange. She is part of something I believe. Turns her head, looks forward again and then, boom. it started. she does not duck or dive at all in a fast way. she keeps on beeing calm, takes her phone camera, starts filming like to confirm if the attemp was a succes or not. Like she knew more then should. Look from 0:29 and judge for yourself. for me the most srange part is that she was the only one that start filming inmediately. so look at the crowd as well and how they react. do not get destracted by the moment but look at everything closely of that article to see strange things
Protocol law, is all body guards must be taller than the protectie. So as the protectie doesn’t try to get in attackers face. Or, keep trying to rally his constituents. I swear that woman was trying to give someone an open canvas. One guard, maybe a fill in🫰 kept putting his arm up to protect Trump’s face. They had never used a stand in before. Didn’t plan for stairs? The truck door was way too small. . They are always in a power struggle of who’s in charge.. They might have done step by step practices, but not with trump, or a stand in.. . Conspiracy, no. In competent, yes. The guy who put his arm up, is probably getting a service award right now 😅😅😅
