A wand is a simple and inexpensive tool used in witchcraft, allowing individuals to physically prepare for the spellwork and mentally prepare themselves for the impending ritual. To make a wand, first, use a straight, smooth stick between nine and twelve inches long and decorate it. This helps in physically preparing for the spellwork and mentally preparing oneself for the impending ritual.

I was active-duty Marine Corps for four years; let me tell you, having to share a barracks-room with two other guys, or a squad-bay aboard a ship with fifty or sixty, didn’t leave space for a lot of fancy tools. I wound up applying a lesson from Basic to my spellwork: Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome. There was a particular spell midway through my first deployment where I used a camo bandanna as the altar-cloth, the elements were represented by an MRE salt-packet, a Zippo lighter, a bottle of water, and a lit Marlboro Red stuck filter-down in the sand. My cauldron (at times also used for scrying, eating, drinking, and heating water to shave with in the field-) was a blue enameled-tin coffee mug I bought at my first MOS school.
Where the idea that you had to have so many fancy tools to practice Witchcraft came from I have no idea. Witchcraft is based in nature and has always been. Our ancestors didn’t have a super store to run out to get an ornate alter cover or a jewel encrusted athame. They used what they had or made it. You really don’t need a single tool to practice. If you can’t practice in the open not using obvious tools is your safest bet. Thank you Olivia for stressing this point. It is one I try to get across all the time to new witchies and a few old crones as well.
Can I just say, because this seems like the right place to mention it, I have found so many useful, witchy shit at my local Goodwill. Olivia is absolutely right that you don’t need to go out any buy expensive, aesthetic stuff for your practice. But if you go out and look, you can find vintage stuff like candle holders, incense burners, jars and who knows what else at garage sales and thrift stores. I just found a vintage sugar bowl that looks like a little cauldron for $2! Sorry to brag, but look in thrift stores. Thank you for your time.
if i recommend buying anything, a simple tarot deck ended up being essential to my journey. other than that, I carved my own wand out of wood I collected (respectfully), made my own runes out of pebbles I found, I collected beautiful stones from the ground from all over the world when I traveled and now I use them, and of course tealights are a great cheap thing. my journal also functions as my grimoire
Tools: – Use herbs you have at home – Tealight candles – Pen and Paper – Color Magick – Mirrors – Bowls of water – Jars – Journals, Sketchbooks, old binders – Old fabric (charm bags, spell dolls) – Dirt, sticks and flowers – Salt – Printers – Yarn, String, cords (knot magic) – Dollar Store (Candles, bowls, boxes) – Craft store (string, needles, paint, threads) – Air Dry clay (candle holders, incense trays and puppets) – tiny jars – tiny candles
Youtube has suggested your website and articles so many times but I didn’t want to check them out at first because everyone does their articles different and because of that, it’s hard for me to find multiple witches on youtube if that makes sense. However, yesterday I was putting together a witchy jewelry charm hanger thing and wanted some noise in the background. I tried this article for the fun of it (plus who doesn’t love budget-friendly witchy life hacks?) and I now love your website.
As a baby witch, I love the simplicity of this. I’ve been fighting against being overwhelmed and I’ve really been focused on trying to take my time and let myself naturally gravitate towards my interests instead of diving in head first into a million different things. A lot of these ideas were super creative and as someone who strives to be Zero Waste and eco-friendly I LOVE the idea of using what you have. Thank you so much for this!
I read that egg shells are used in peace and protection spells, so I’ve started keeping all of my egg shells. I dry them and mix them with chalk to put sigils of peace and protection warding under my doormat! Also, At hobby lobby i found some great candle holders in the shape of the tetragramaton, which For me is very powerful and i use it all the time in sigils,.. sooo i was glad to find a candle holder in that shape. 😍😍😍
I Made Runes out of air dry clay! When I Started to read about different things used in the practice, I thought “I bet I can just make some runes of my own right now” and put my energy into them as I Sculpted and painted them. I don’t know if I could have as good of a connection with cheaply brought runes so I made my own for cheaper.
I just want to say this article is everything. I’ve been seeing a lot of you tubers say things like “you need to” or “you have to” but you’re keeping things very subjective and over all general and I love that. Witchcraft is subjective and in the end you go with what feels right in your heart and that’s like the general vibe in this article so go you !!! Also I just love your attitude and your energy!! Blessed Yule!!💙🌙🌊
Loveee this article! 💙 I have a book for daily spells & it usually calls for a bunch of foreign objects/ plants that are sooooo hard to find; THIS IS WHEN I IMPROVISE. I either use something similar or I completely use my mind & the spells are just as powerful, if not more. To anyone struggling w/ lack of tools, I’m here to tell you using your mind works wonders ✨💫
So i am very new and i don’t know what to do yet and i have to say that the witch/wicca community is one of the nicest i have ever met. Everybody is so eager to help and so respectful my heart is full. The whole community is so versatile which made all of you so understanding, i already feel at home by your sides, bless all of you.
I enjoy this so much. I’ve been collecting different tools for almost thirty years and my very first tool was a TAROT deck and a pentacle necklace when I was a teenager and over time I came into various tools at thrift stores including a beautiful set of brass and walnut candleholders and even black glass plates and a besom at a Thrift store for super cheap and they cleanse super easy as most of these items are not used for Magick by anyone before. I used to draw pictures of tools I didn’t have and just visualized these tools in my possession and I waited patiently for them to come into my life. Using different cards from a TAROT deck for the four elements also really works.
Stopped by the side of the road, jumped out and was back in the truck again in two minutes with a great bow of cedar. It took me longer to talk to the tree and ask permission than anything else. Dryed it out for a couple of weeks and cut it into threeish inch pieces, flattened one side and use them to burn my rune blessings onto. I burn with an old “cut” nail and they work amazingly well! Haven’t lost a patient yet… Spending money if you are tight is actually contraproductive… in my grandiose opinion…lol As always, great show Ollie, you are the postergirl… Please dont be offended by that, I just mean that your vibes are so increadibly inspiring. Thank You. Amiste
You know, you’re right! I went to my pantry and found whatever I needed! There was plenty of frankincense, myrrh, dragon’s blood, mandrake–you know, come to think of it, I have quite a pantry! Maybe I should start a store or something. But seriously, you should work with what you have–or can afford! I would however spend a bit more and get sea salt as you can use it to make bath salts to prepare yourself for spells.
you don’t need them but most find it a good way to enter that mindset that you do need. I don’t need them but, honesty, I do find them comforting. I love correspondence, even though I know I don’t need them. Tools and everything else that are the “trappings” of the art, as long as you don’t use them as a crutch can be exciting and helpful to set the mood. I really enjoy perusal your website.
Such great and practical suggestions. I just wanted to add that when sourcing ingredients, to factor in carbon miles and ethical sources. Salt is under scrutiny right now due to the over mining and high carbon miles of Himalayan Pink salt. That said, you’ve provided a very quirky, budget friendly selection of hands on crafty items. Beautiful job. Big love to you beautiful soul 🖤🧙🏼♀️🧿😘
I ordered a tarot deck that comes with a pendulum and divining table cloth, it’ll arrive tomorrow. I’m so excited. I’m currently homeless so I don’t have a place to keeps a lot of things. I plan on making a traveling altar and I can download PDF files of books on my phone, I can’t carry many in my backpack. I did find four candles randomly yesterday in a crown Royal bag on the side of the road so I’m definitely going to be using those. I’m excited to get my baby witch study on. Blessed be 🌹
A very good friend of mine made me a “mint tin” travel alter about 6 or 7 years ago and I have kept it locked away. She has since passed from our world from cancer so it is truly a special item to me. I am the only prescription in my family. It is time to reconnect with it. December 21st is tomorrow; I think Yule is a wonderful way to do so. She placed many little items within to represent what is needed and I greatly appreciate her for doing so. Thank you for sharing your world with us. I really enjoy all that I have seen. Your work rewards me and I thank you for it. ☀️🤘🏻🌀🙏🏻🌙
I follow a mainly Norse Pagan path, with elements of other traditions mixed in at some points for specific reasons. On my altar are mostly found objects that appeared to me in ways that told me they were intended for me to find, aka ‘see’ and utilize; currently it’s November and I have a feather, a pinecone, three chestnuts, three beach stones and a stone inscribed with the word Health. I keep a copy of the pocket Havamal there as well, and when I’m not wearing pagan jewelry, I also lay pendants on my altar tile, which is a wooden disc from the craft store that I stained and then painted a pentacle onto. All of this sits with one red and one white candle on a black cotton cloth. IOt is simple, basic and mostly organically natural, which is a major component of my practice. Thank you for your article, creativity is the most fun way to make objects and tools, it’s is loaded with personal intention. Blessed be!
birthday candles are SO AWESOME!!! they come in so many colors and they are easily transported if you want to go somewhere to do spellwork or if you don’t have a lot of space to practice. also, there are a lot of witchy things to be found at thrift and second-hand stores. i’ve gotten almost all of my potions bottles and fire safe bowls at goodwill. there’s also lots of fabric!
One thing I like to do when I can’t get ahold of clay is make some salt dough out of salt, flour, and water. It takes forever to dry, though– I had to bake my most recent project in the toaster oven over the course of 2 days for a total of at least 3 hours, and some I left to air dry before I realized I could bake them took about two weeks. I’ve made runes, offerings, candle holders, etc out of salt dough, it can be really handy in a pinch if you don’t mind the wait.
I have 3 display cases. 2 in living room and 1 in my bedroom. One of the living room ones is dedicated to my father and father in law who have passed, the other is elemental candles, incense and an artificial plant to represent Imbolc coming up and will change it out for each sabbat. My bedroom case is more personal. Top shelf has cosmic lava lamp, crystals, glass star candle holders and gem stone jewelry. 2nd shelf is incense burner, incense, mini tapered candles (sabbat appropriate colors) and a neon moon. 3rd shelf oils and burner, small cauldron with herbs and tools (tongs, charcoal, sand)
girl!!! air dry clay is my bff!!!! I have a goddess & pentacle my daughter made for me 10 yrs ago and they are still rocking my altar, I’ve made color faerie stones for offerings and my very first set of runes I made myself with the air dry clay over a decade ago and I still use them….my first BOS was in fact a BOS…a BOX of SHADOWS…it was an index box with color index cards and I had the dividers for it as well so I was easily able to categorize all my material in alphabetical order….its a great way to start your gathering of materials before going full fledge on an aesthetic bos….this is what Witchcraft is all about….being creative….once you are a Witch, you see everything with a Witchy perspective….great article, and yes to DIY WITCHY TOOLS!!!!
I’m so glad I found your website! I live in a small town where it’s not easy to get witchy tools without having others look at you in a strange way, so the local Eurostore (the European version of a dollar store) has been my go-to place from the moment I started collecting things for my craft. You gave me such a nice idea with the air-dry clay, because I have the same problem with some of my candle holders (it gets so irritating not to have holders for some of my candles!).
I like to go to the clearance section in Dollar General or Michaels to find cheap string and twine, sachets, witchy decorations, etc. If you work for a Michaels, last I checked they do a 30% employee discount on anything in the store. Sometimes they carry things like abalone shells or crystals. The one I worked for had entire clusters of quartz and amethyst crystals. Also look at local garage sales and estate sales, you can find some really cute tables and shelves for altars, or even some witchy decorations and jewelry for super cheap 🙂
I’m a baby witch that loves dabbling in all sorts of rituals and tools from different cultures. I recently tried making my own gris-gris bag and it was a huge success. It didn’t require anything that was expensive and was fairly easy to do. (You can find tutorials for them everywhere) May try again in the future but with different intent. Just here to let others know that trying new things and exploring different practices or making your own cheap alternatives can really help your craft evolve and become more YOU. Blessed be, everyone. 🙂
It’s March 2nd 2022 and I have always felt pulled towards witchcraft, always felt I was a spiritual and powerful being and I finally looked into steps to take to begin my journey and I am so happy I found your articles. I have so many of these tools as a crafty gremlin and I am so filled with joy right now. Thank you for sharing your information, I love your energy and light.
i love your website so much!! it’s helped me so much as a beginner and im practicing in secret so your articles are so so so helpful and they just cheer me up in general. there’s so many things other witches have told me and it gets so confusing, your articles are easy to follow and honestly just perfect! keep up the amazing work!!!
I consider myself a baby witch that has been roaming around for 52 yrs. However as I begin to study Wicca I realize that I have been preparing for this my whole life. I have been making an alter for many years, I actually made a Grimoire and didn’t know and I have all the stuff she listed. Blessed be.
i definitely do 100% of my witchcraft shopping at the dollar store and goodwill. 10/10 would recommend for broke witches everywhere! there’s also a spiritual shop near my house that sells candles, crystals (locally + ethically sourced), incense, etc. that are all really affordable and it’s been SO helpful.
Mirrors scare me. It actually dawned on me, after being revealed to me in a dream, that your cell phone, laptop, and television are essentially black mirrors. You can use these as black mirrors. You carry a black mirror in your pocket every day, and it’s called a cell phone. It is a dark reflective surface. If you want the witchy aesthetic, sure go get a traditional Black Mirror. However, your television screen, laptop, or cell phone turned off can be used as a Black Mirror
I grew up fundamental baptist. Took me twenty or so years to explore something behind what I grew up knowing. I went to a circle in another city after exploring “witchy” way. I feel in love with the peace and content I felt learning the trade with others. Now I moved into South Carolina a Bible Belt state. I try with limited knowledge to find my own path and spells and meditations and rituals. But I feel alone. I wish I could find one other person to share my journey and maybe do a group with them. Anyone else ever struggle with not knowing a lot of people especially Into magic Wicca etc
I’ve been playing with polymer clay for ages, like the air-dry type, but come in evry color imaginable, I’ve used scrap colors to make a bowl that looks like pebbles, then just heat cured it, and painted it black, and it holds my smudge wands, you can make Diety sculptures, use it to make a spirit board, or pendulum plate, so many options, love love love it💜
This was such a great article! ❤️ I have questions: I’m a lefty, will that matter for when I pen and paper work? 2nd Birthday candles: Do you ever wrap them in a colored paper or put them in colored jars to infuse them with power? 3rd Mirrors: I don’t like using them, for me it’s like looking someone in the eyes (BOOM my defenses are up.) Is there an alternative for them? Thank you for information, super great! ❤️ Blessed Be!
I love your mobile stick figurations! And I love it when people make up witty new words, coincidentally. I’ve been meaning to make some simple mobiles with driftwood, beach stones, and bones that I have lying around, but haven’t done it yet. Seeing what you’ve crafted has inspired me to dive in and do it.
Bulk spices at the grocery store, dollar stores, thrift stores, go outside and pick up a stick, leaves or nuts off the ground. You can make your own black salt with black frosting dye or black powdered food colouring. Add whatever else you feel your black needs. You can make your own feather fans by collections found feathers and a stick. I made mine from found turkey feathers and a found stick. It came out very pretty. You just don’t need expensive ‘fancy’ stuff to do spellwork.
Haha I had to start using dollar store notebooks because I was too scared of messing up my fancy pretty book, so my fancy pretty blank book that looked like an old timey hardback book just sat empty for months in my room, UNTIL MY ROOMMATES DOG DECIDED TO EAT IT. Couple things I’d love to share I usually use Garden(green) sage instead of white sage. Spice rack green sage works perfectly fine. I use a little heat safe bowl, put a little salt in the bottom, and then squish a few pinches of the ground green sage into a cone shape, and light the top. You can make your own scrying mirror with a cheap little photo frame. (dollar store even has them sometimes) Just paint the back of it black. Sometimes you can even find neat round ones with decorative frames.
I wish you could go shopping with me. I’ve always been called to witchcraft. Lots of things like visions, I hear things, see colors that warn me. I used to play with like these energy magnet ball things when I was young. I just started learning tarot on my own. So I know I have multiple people that use witchcraft but made me grossed out by it for a while. At least from them because it was all just selfish stuff or bad stuff to others….but what’s hard is my family growing up has always been very open about stuff like this & for good use or more for healing. (I’ve also been told a couple times I’m a healer & I have no idea what that means!) A lot of it came very intense during a horrible time in my life…I used to hear someone just keep screaming in my ear. It would scare me. So I want to do protection spells & spells to help my family from any bad crap from others. The thing that’s rough is my husband. He hardly lets me spend a dime…I’ve become used to it but when something like this comes up it’s always hard…when my heart wants something but I’m being blocked some how. He would never let me spend money if he knew what I intended on using the things for. So this is a very helpful article & thank you so much. I think I need a secret box. I just started learning tarot…My family had been attacked so much in the past that I just want to protect all of us. Also I notice that other websites keep calling on other people that are Empaths to help out world. I have been working on meditating & thinking about our community & trying to put good intentions to everyone.
You just reminded me how much fun all this is! I’m a new witch. Honestly I’m still very hesitant on labeling myself because I never liked labels. And I know we are each different. So I’m still not sure I’m going to call myself a Witch. But I sure feel most free when I’m making spell bags, jewelry, and just the feeling if working with the moon, sun, and mother earth while doing my spells. I love love love your website. It just gives me a special feeling. Or a comfy witchy feeling lol. Thanks so much for your articles. Your doing a wonderful work helping others. THANKS AGAIN!! 🎨🌿🦋🦄🌱🍃🔥💧🌬
I stopped using sachet bags from the store & started using toilet paper roll tubes that I would otherwise throw in the trash for spell remains/workings. Fold the ends closed, seal with tape or wax or string, decorate/sigil, and when the spell is completed you can safely bury in the garden or toss the package in a bonfire. Costs nothing!
I was introduced to Wicca when I was a young teen my dad had gotten me a spell book I used to have a sixth sense which I tucked away.. but years later I joined a spiritual group with domestic violence survivors and at the end of each group one of us would choose a taro deck and every time the cards would answer a question or a thought and I used to copy the cards and put them in a journal and I lost that journal I have decided to get back into the swing of things I want to track down those spirit cards so I can have them in a new journal because they were very very meaningful I am unsure if I want my 6th sense back but I do want to dive back into my spiritual being
I actually I know how to crochet so many of my scrap yarn I’ve made a lot of little scrap drawstring bag he’s I mean I don’t get more time and effort but that just gives that bag a little bit more meaning because you can put your phone intention into what you’re doing just like selling it not Magic on a bracelet for her for protection and nobody even knows it but me I love it it’s perfect it’s easy it’s practical, so practical practitioners but you know it’s the little things in life that make us happy
I love your articles. You have validated my belief that the craft is a personal journey and we must trust our intuition because there is so much information available that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and second guessing ourselves. I didn’t realize just how many tools I have available in my own home. You are very knowledgeable and an inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing your information!
I find making my own things to be so much more energetically powerful. I spent days hand making tarot cards and i connect with them so well. I think the amount of energy and time I put into them makes them very powerful. Same with salt. I go to an ocean once a year and every year I like to wade out into the water with a GIANT pot and ask the ocean permission to harvest water. Then I’ll go back in the house and make my own salt. It’s turned out to be powerful in my spell work
I am absolutely new, and just started learning about this craft. I know this seems like a small thing, but I believe it shows I am intuitively on the right track. I was buying taper candles the other day, and when I got home, I realized that I didn’t have any holders. My mind began working on this, and I thought, “I could buy play-dough and make my holders”. The different colors would make customizable holders for whatever type of spell I wanted to cast, but there is no black play-dough. So the air dry clay would be perfect for those clays that I can’t find the color for. By the way, of all the websites here on YT, you are the only one with whom I feel a resonance. You have a very down to earth, non pretentious way of communicating, and communication is one of the cheif sacred elements in my internal sacred space. I am subscribing as soon as I post this comment.
Thank you Olivia for this very fun, happy,& witchcational article. LoL I found many items I needed the other day @ the Dollar Tree & was over the moon for the price! Had same thought about birthday candles…one tends to get creative when down to just pocket change. Def convenient on space & secrecy too. Major score coming across the extra tall & chubby bday candles. Love it. Thanks for the smiles n laughs today.🌙💀🐈⬛🌸
I’m poor as hell and often can’t afford a bunch of fancy expensive items… thrift stores and dollar stores are my best friends regarding items I need in/for my practice. Not only that, but pay attention to anything anyone suddenly gives you or scraps that people leave over. For instance, a casual friend/acquaintance of mine was crocheting a scarf and had cut off extra threads. I asked if I could keep the cutoffs, she agreed, and I was able to use them in a spell to cut off my lingering attachment to someone (it worked btw). It’s amazing what the universe can provide to you when you need it, even if you haven’t asked (it never hurts to ask).
5 below has a lot of good stuff; they have 7 day chakra candles, tarot cards, journals (can be used for grimoires) theres like wall decorations that can further the affect of “haha its just an aesthetic guysss” if you’re in the broom closet, there’s sage and some other herbs, there’s so much good witch stuff, i love that store to death. it’s not specifically a witch store though, just has witch stuff.
Takes notes fervently Salt is witchcraft. Got it! 😂 Thank you for your website, its really helped me get started these past few months. Ive been to bookstores and Libraries to find books on basic witchcraft and its been difficult to find really practical advice for us modern witches. Your advice has been extremely helpful. ❤
Great post! Thank you. Another cool tip – dried tea bag paper is beautiful for sigils. Use pen & ink if you have it. Makes a lovely collection over time – they also burn beautifully or biodegrade if you tuck them into your plants or garden. Oh – & a small cup, glass, or pot of dirt for a candle holder. 💗
You are my kind of witch girl! Thank you for this! I have felt overwhelmed & this just kind of eased my anxiety. Like, it doesn’t have to be exact or expensive. Between these hacks plus I have enough tools I have paid full price for to start practicing. I really want & know I should start with protection spells. Wish me luck! Much love all 💜💜💜
Journals, tea light candles, herbs in your kitchen, colors, pen and paper, old fabric, bowls of water, mirrors, jars, dirt, sticks, flowers, salt, printers, yarn/string/cords, Colored candles, candle holders, boxes, paint, drawstring bags, air dry clay, incense tray, tiny vials, taper candles, birthday candles
Thanks for this very inspiring article! The craft store is a very dangerous place for myself too 😆 I am new to your website and I wanted to ask you what do you think of buying a magick wand vs making your own wand? Also is wand a really necessary tool? I have a selenite wand but I use it mostly for meditation and cleansing and yoga. Thanks 😗
Hello lovelies, just wanted to share something, when I was still a student and living with my parents, I used to have a locker at school that only I had a key to access and store my books and bag. It was a great place to store and hide little things I didn’t want my parents to see… Out of their sight, out of their minds!
This is so cool and a lovely article! 😍 I’ve always been interested in witchcraft as the women of the past in my mom’s family tree, have said that they probably have some kind of power. And my mother’s grandmother made spells especially with strings. But I have one question. What’s a minten? Never heard that word.
I have an old cell phone i use to represent air. I charge it and put it in the position of air because it sends and receives radio waves which I think fall under the air dept. also I believe in using frequencies. I know for a fact music affects humans and there are lots of you tube music and ambient noises on specific frequencies and on regular sounds like the website Stardust vibes. They make 10 hours of ambient sound. It is amazing. I also like the Bossa Nova and relaxing jazz to get into a trans state.
What I learned through my experience is it is not the tools that matter, it is the intent and energy you give off that counts. I was laughed at by supposed wiccans and witches over my screwdriver as prefer tool or wand till I showed them that my screwdriver is the perfect tool for the candle spells that I do. I consider myself a candle practitioner, so a screwdriver is perfect for me. To each their own, you know. Don’t laugh, just ask questions to develop the craft even more. So many people think you need this or that. Just go with “What is it that I want to achieve?”, “What is the goal or objective?”, What are needed to execute or accomplish it?”… ask questions that school officials ask, but replace academia of subject matter/areas with that of academia of magic or spells. I use the Marzano Strategy to better the craft; whatever craft it may be.
yard strings cords reminded me that one of my neighbors left stuff on the side of the rode and we went to check it out and i got like 3 things of twine they were small, but i love them. I would like to see the spell dolls i looked on your website, but didn’t see it maybe i didn’t look hard enough. You just reminded me i have a cement like thing. Best of luck to my fellow witchy friends my account is Thedeadgirl Ontheinside if you want to contact me i’m a bit more of a beginner.
I think I’m your 119k subscriber. I subbed to you just second ago and came to this article and it changed from 118k to 119k, so yea. Hello! I’m a new witch 🙂 Edit: this article was really helpful. I can’t work and I can’t drive so getting things can be difficult. Luckily, I have a lot of these items in my house! It’s good to know a witch can still do witchcraft without much witch stuff. 🙂
Just started get into Witchcraft when I first watched this! I was really disappointed to find a lot of witches have crystals and pots and baskets and lots of things that require money. And as someone who is far from stable money wise, I thought I would have to spend hundreds of dollars on supplies. But thank you for making this article and using your own experience and making it really easy to understand. I have been happily practicing for 2 years and everything has been going great! Worship dollar tree for they have amazing things Advice: Lots of spells do not need anything specially bought to do. (unless its animal bones or sometimes plastic feathers couldn’t work for an offering to Artemis.) Cheap beaded necklaces work great if your parents are suspicious about you buying plain string lol. Goodwill also is a great place for cool looking fabric made out of shirts and whatnot.
I didnt need shittt to make things happen, I see something going to happen and it does happen 9 times out of 10. Right now its a 11 because every time I think something or make a comment about what I think should happen, it does happen the next day or two when it comes to coronavirus. I have does lots of things impossible with my mind now that I smoke weed, its like it turns on the mind to make things happen:) it is real, sometimes painful to see things that are going to happen and then it does right before your eyes.
I think witchcraft has been part of my life since forever. My dad enjoys Asatru, so I’ve been familiar with offerings since I was little. We’d go into the arboretum to make our offerings. I also grew up with incense. I’ve had a habit of collecting jars, my first tarot deck was given to me at a young age, along with a couple crystals. In the past few years, I’ve been collecting lots of crystals. I love the moon, am an artist and home cook, cats seem drawn to me, etc. I also hope to be able to grow some herbs some day.
Hi! Ms. Olivia, thanks for this article.. I got a lot of Idea on how I can get a low cost witchcraft tools.. Im just a begginer and doing my self study in witchcrafting and Im really happy to this article of yours though you have a lot of new article.. I still prepare to check the old one as well… God bless you😊✌
I love your articles!! Your whole aesthetic resonates with me so much. 💕 Also just want to say… I totally get that you are being cautious by saying don’t eat anything you find in nature…but maybe add “unless you know what you’re doing.” 😉 I live in a place where wild edibles are abundant and foraging for food is super common.🌲 Just wanted to bring some perspective. 😁 Again, love love LOVE your work! 🖤
OMG I love the poppet. I work a lot of poppet magick. It is the go-to for me and has been for over 20 years now. One of my family members that began her practice back in the 50s passed a little over a year ago. Her name was Judy and some people at work called her big booty Judy. That just reminded me of her so much. Especially given that orange was one her favorite colors.
Brightest Blessings to you doll! You are SO refreshing. All too often The Craft is about consumption, when as you say, we are supposed to GIVE BACK TO THE EARTH. I do buy some gorgeous Witchy stuff, I will admit, but try to free source, upcycle or scavenge from nature where I can. Charity shops / Thrift stores or Op Shops to those in the Southern Hemisphere, are the BEST places to find unique, quirky & cheap Witch items. Also, you are saving things from landfill & reducing demand for new things. I subscribed to your website SO fast. Will be binging your articles …. Many thanks & Blessings to all. May Peace Prevail on Earth. XXX XXX XXX
One word about store bought flowers, they are usually highly sprayed with pesticides because they are not meant for human consumption and because the industry does not tolerate any damage because flowers are solely designed as an aesthetic product. That said, I still wouldn’t count them out; I’d just be selective where I’d use them and I’d mark on the bottle so I didn’t forget the origin. If I were going to use them in a working, I’d make sure it’s not one I’d eat/drink or put on my body. I am also not sure about burning them or putting in anointing oils (just in case I got it on my skin, but I might just be overly cautious.) either. BUT they’d probably be great for: magic powders, offerings to spirits/deities, etc, mojo bags – stuff like that I bet.
Love this!! I’ve been collecting so many goodies lately in old repurposed jars, but now I need a new cabinet or something to store them all in!! I also love using flowers, although I like to make sure that I’m using flowers that I know for sure haven’t been sprayed with chemicals if I’m using them for consuming or burning.
E6000 is the Adhesive of the Gods…sticks to about everything, dries clear. Downside is that it stinks and takes a few days to reach full strength. JB Weld is another good adhesive. Pladtic jars and bottles degrade quickly, dont have much strength, and really aren’t worth much. They should go directly in the recycle can. The classic glass jar with a metal lid are the best. A bazillion uses. I save solid copper pennies ( 1982 and older), and old jars are fun to customize as coin holders. If you can find it, gasket paper is another material with lots of uses. If you know someone who works in a hospital, they throw out all sorts of cool containers and materials.
