How To Determine The Astrological Dominant Element?

This free online calculator helps determine the dominant elements in a birth chart by analyzing the distribution of planets across the four elements: fire, earth, air, and water. The dominant element is calculated by calculating the balance of elements in the natal chart. The element with the highest number of planets is the fire element.

To find the dominant element, one must know their birthday, place of birth, and birth time. The calculator also provides points for the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, and Midheaven, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. The calculation method involves calculating the “chart dominants” or the dominant element (fire, earth, air, or water) and dominant quality (cardinal, fixed, or mutable).

The dominant element in all people is oxygen, but by the number of atoms it is hydrogen. If you believe in the ancient theory of four elements, your sun sign gives us an idea of what your dominant element in astrology is. However, keep in mind that we contain fire elements in our horoscope, and the dominant element depends on the number of planets in the natal chart.

In summary, this calculator helps users determine the dominant elements in their birth charts by analyzing the balance of elements and the dominant qualities.

How to identify dominant elements?

To find your dominant element, you need to know your birthday, place of birth, and birth time to accurately count your rising sign. Analyzing your natal chart can reveal various elements, such as air signs, fire signs, water signs, and earth signs. The dominant element appears most in your chart and can reveal your motivations and energy expression. Understanding your dominant element helps identify the overarching energy in your day-to-day life. If you don’t align with your sun sign’s traits, it might be because you have a different dominant energy that takes over.

For example, Sagittarius native Taylor Swift, whose water element aligns with her reputation for vulnerability and openness in her songwriting, may have a different dominant energy than her sun sign. Understanding your dominant element can help you identify the overarching energy in your day-to-day life and how it is expressed.

Which element is the most dominant?

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the Universe, followed by helium, and all others are orders of magnitude less common. The Table of Nuclides, or Segrè plot, shows that the lightest 16 elements, hydrogen through sulfur, comprise 99. 9% of the ordinary matter. This is because the majority of ordinary matter (99. 4% in the Solar System) contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. However, when nucleons combine to form stable nuclides, they combine in a ratio of one part proton to one part neutron in 99.

4% of ordinary matter. This structural basis of the equality of nucleon numbers in baryonic matter is one of the simplest and most profound unsolved mysteries of the atomic nucleus. The abundance of the lightest elements is well predicted by the standard cosmological model, as they were mostly produced shortly after the Big Bang through Big Bang nucleosynthesis, while heavier elements were produced later inside stars.

  • Fire- 9.5 Water- 5 Earth- 4.5 and Air- 2 I’m not too surprised by any of my findings but it is really cool how close two of my placements were to your own and how vastly different our charts are overall. Thanks for the content also, the breakdowns of everything have really helped me to get a better understanding of things that I’ve been curious about for quite a while.

  • Sun: Cancer (Water 3 pts) Moon: Sagittarius (Fire 3 pts) ASC: Scorpio (Water 2 pts) MC: Leo ( Fire 2 pts ) Mercury: Cancer ( Water 2 pts ) Venus: Cancer ( Water 2 pts ) Mars: Pisces ( Water 2 pts ) Jupiter: Leo ( Fire 2 pts ) Saturn: Cancer ( Water 1 pt ) Uranus: Pisces ( Water 1 pt ) Neptune: Aquarius ( Air 1 pt ) Pluto: Sagittarius ( Fire 1 pt ) Water: 13 pts Fire: 8 pts Air: 1 pts Earth: 0 pt 😂

  • Wow! What does it mean when two of the four signs are equal? My air and earth sign points tallied at 7? Does it mean I’m both Air and Earth dominant? I love it! But even though I’m severely lacking Water sign influence, I’m still intuitive. I’d like to think I can be nurturing as well esp when I’m in love. Asc: Libra Sun: Libra Moon: Sagittarius Mercury: Virgo Venus: Virgo Mars: Gemini Jupiter: Leo Saturn: Capricorn Uranus: Capricorn Neptune: Capricorn Pluto: Scorpio MC: Cancer Earth: 2+2+1+1+1 =7 Air: 2+3+2 =7 Fire: 3+2 = 5 Water: 1+1= 2

  • I am Fire dominant. Earth is close behind it. The dominant planets in my chart are moon & Pluto. Saturn close behind. I’m confused as to why that is though because my Pluto is in Scorpio. It might make sense due to my Aries moon being in the 8th house though. Saturn is in Aquarius 6 H. Wouldn’t your chart ruler and your dominant planet be the same thing? Because then it would be the sun, I have a Leo rising. (I’m still learning, all of this is fascinating.)

  • Do elements in the midheaven/MC and N/S nodes also have an affect on the dominant element in your birth chart? Just wondering lol I knew that I have a Cancer midheaven and North Node in Cancer too. I thought that these, plus my pisces moon, were the reasons I’m more water than fire… Didn’t realise how much more water element’s were in my chart til this calculation! Sag ☀, Pisces 🌙. Water 8, Fire 7, Earth 4, Air 3.

  • My dominant elements is water then earth and fire are both even base on my chart also in my chart I’m lacking air and if people don’t see at the moment they still have to compare it to my hole life and I already know I lack social communication with gathering and I honestly prefer not to talk talk in social gathering that’s how I am and nothing wrong with that that’s just how I am and prefer to be even if loves one don’t like meet being quiet in gathering they still have to respect how I am with other as longer nothing negative happens and being quiet with other is just a personality trait characteristics of a person my big 3 and houses in ☀ Pisces in the 7th house 🌖Scorpio in the 3rd house 🌄 Virgo rising 40% water 25% earth 25% fire 7% air

  • 10.5 water / 6 air / 4 fire / 1.5 earth (i knew I was light on earth element / I feel like my sag rising is so strong at work but maybe it’s overcompensating for lack of earth 🗯️ / weird to see air and fire so close, I was hoping one would be more dominant but I deff feel it and that water 10.5 🥲) Ty that was great insight !

  • This is a late response to a year ago article. I found your article information the most helpful I have come across. I have taken multiple quizzes to discover my element and they have always given me mixed messages. It turns out that I have an even dominant split between two elements while low in the other two. Thanks for sharing this article information!
