Should I sell the amulet?

The Sentient Amulet, a rare item found in Baldur’s Gate 3, is a challenging item to acquire due to its suspicious nature. Acquiring it requires fighting a Lava Elemental, navigating environmental hazards, and opening a high DC lock. The spirit’s madness can lead to different outcomes and upgrades for the amulet, but both have risks. The player can choose to accept the spirit’s madness or refuse it, resulting in different outcomes and upgrades.

The Sentient Amulet stands out from other necklaces in the game due to its ability to communicate with the player. While equipping such items with suspicion is recommended for safe play in the Forgotten Realms, it’s not necessarily worth it. The ultimate payoff for the amulet’s story doesn’t come until Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, making it difficult to make an informed decision when the amulet is first acquired.

How do you keep an amulet?

Amulets are sacred objects that represent holy men and should be kept in high places, such as on a Buddha shrine or in a specially made cabinet, to avoid accidental stepping over them. In Buddhism, the foot is considered the lowest and dirtiest part of the body, so it is best to hang the amulet higher than the head.

Handling the amulet is crucial, so ensure clean hands and surfaces. Keep the amulet away from dirt and germs, and return it to its case after handling it. Many amulets are placed in waterproof acrylic and metal cases, which protect them from harmful elements and erosion.

Find a special box or private container to store the amulet, preferably above head level, and do not mix it with other jewelry. This respects the etiquette surrounding amulets and ensures they are kept clean and protected from damage.

In summary, proper care and handling of amulets are essential for their longevity and significance in Buddhism.

  • So since I have an auto immune disease, im in and out of the hospital multiple times a year. Every single time I’m in the e.r, they take my blood. But for some reason they always leave two vials. And no one cares about them. So when im being moved to a room to be admitted, I take my tubes of blood. I have about 10 (yes its that bad) in my fridge. This is the perfect article as I’ve been telling my fiancee that I am going to make necklaces with the vials 🤭 Thanks Dorian!! Hope you’re well love

  • I have one I made several years ago. It was a little craft bottle from Hobbycraft. I was going through a fucking weird point in my life where I just didn’t feel connected to anything at all. So stupidly pierced a vein and let it bleed into the bottle, then sealed it with wax, and melted plastic over the top to really seal it in. Surprisingly, it never clotted, separated or turned brown. It just got a tiny bit darker once it cooled. I’ve always suffered from anemia, which was really bad at the time so the oxygen levels were probably really low, and I’d taken to constantly taking painkillers throughout the day. So maybe that has something to do with it? I’m doing a bit better now, I’m nowhere near recovered, but I’m far from the place I was back then.

  • For those who are going to try this: You don’t need the tourniquet. Just pump your fist to make the vein pop up. If it doesn’t work without the tourniquet be sure to be quick enough and immediately remove the tourniquet after you draw blood. You should never leave a tourniquet on, it can cause clotting and internal hemorrhage and other nasty issues. The tourniquet is dangerous. You should know right away when you have the vein, when you pull the plunger very gently, it should automatically start filling the vial rather rapidly. If not, pull out the syringe and try again. You don’t want to push the plunger – injecting blood or air AT ALL. You’re not injecting anything. ONLY PUSH THE PLUNGER OUTSIDE OF YOUR BODY, BEFORE INSERTING THE NEEDLE OR AFTER WITHDRAWING THE NEEDLE. Blood that’s been exposed to oxygen for even a few seconds starts to clot, so if there’s just a bit of blood in the syringe, but not enough you might want to start over with a new syringe. Injecting air at all can cause clotting in your veins, which can travel or break up inside your veins and be harmful or deadly. Before you begin, you can prep the syringe by pulling the plunger to the top mark on the syringe and then pushing it ALL the way back in. This makes it easier to pull the plunger when you draw blood. When applying the cotton immediately after: Not too much pressure. Just press a cotton ball for 30 seconds to a minute to stop bleeding. Bleeding under the skin is what causes bruising.

  • Id love to know the results of your other blood related experiments, I’ve done a tiny amount of dabbling in such as a fellow horror/ vampire story writer. Theres only so much research you can do to for certain things, and so much of the blood in movies is just horribly fake looking. That necklace came out beautiful by the way, I’d make one myself but I don’t fuck with IV needles.

  • Wow, perusal you draw blood gave me a physical reaction. I was a heroin addict for over a decade and I have been clean for 4 years now. I didn’t think seeing someone using a needle this way would affect me, but it did. Brought me right back. Then I kinda felt a bit ill after. I guess from putting myself back in that situation mentally. It creeped me out. Not your fault at all. I watched it, but woah. So weird how our bodies can reenact situations like that feeling wise at the drop of a hat if something brings up a memory. Brains are crazy!

  • Ok, I’m SO very late but I think this is much needed after seeing the article, here’s how to do a blood extraction correctly. Yer going to need these materials: latex gloves, cotton balls, 70% alcohol, elastic band (big enough for your arm) and a syringe. ALL of this need to be sterilized aka appropriate for first aid, so you can just buy a first aid kit. N E X T: blood extraction you should do this with someone near you, just in case (I’ll elaborate on why at the bottom) 1. Tie ur hair, wash your hands, take a seat and let the arm you’ll extract from, hang. 2. Put on the gloves, don’t go around touching them, they’re usually prepared so you don’t need to touch them to put them on. 3. Check and prepare your material, make sure ur syringe is in optimal condition. 4. Put on the band halfway through your upper arm, now, this shouldn’t be made for a long time do it for around a min. 5. While ur other arm has the band, clean the place with a cotton humid with alcohol and remove the band, don’t touch the cleaned place. 6. Extract the blood. 7. Immediately, take another cotton and apply pressure, stay like that for a while. 8. Don’t get up immediately. Now, what your partner should do for unexpected situations: – there’s many fainters, that’s why you shouldn’t get up immediately, if you do faint your helper should lay u down, lift your legs, check for falling wounds and remove any kind of clothing that applies pressure ( corsets, belts, etc) proceed to explain the situation to the fainter after they wake up.

  • Cool AF! I have an aversion to needles and veins (horrible experiences in the past with blood tests) but I have done many blood paintings in the past with menstrual blood, nosebleed blood and blood from a dodgy canula that kept bleeding :S. I mixed acrylic pouring medium with the blood to stop it from congealing so fast so I had more time to paint, it worked pretty well! The colour always turns a deep red-brown but it’s kinda cool perusal it change over time.

  • I loved every second of this. You’re very knowledgeable and this was incredibly helpful. I was curious what ways there are to not clot the blood and didn’t even realize it can turn brown and ugly. There’s some shops online that sell “anticoagulant kits” and you totally saved me, aspirin in water is way more practical! And I love your whole outfit, your makeup is so cool. Thank you for the fun education 🙂

  • speaking as a donor to sangs, phlebotomy is definitely the way to go! and thank you thank you thank you for mentionning sharps containers for disposing of used needles, i always tell my sangs and they always forget! also, the aspirin is really smart, and much more readily available than the citrate we’ve been using. i’ll have to tell my peeps ^^

  • I’m so glad I’m not the only one that notices inconsistencies with blood on shows. True Blood was notorious for showing the hands of the actors and I could see the red staining around their cuticles and nails from former gore scenes lol. Drove me nuts cause then I just looked for that. Your makeup and hair is glorious and love that you artistically found a great way to use the real deal!

  • I would love to make a blood necklace by my own but I can’t even poke myself with a sowing needle. I was wondering if you could use menstrual blood instead. Maybe it’s not as clean as blood directly extracted from the vein? Would be very interesting to experiment with this. It would be a nice solution. Also because there’s blood from my period regardless….😅

  • Super interesting!! My thought would be to put the aspirin into the syringe before you draw your blood (just coating the syringe in it)? Mainly due to blood coagulating so fast in the syringe after a draw while you’re prepping other supplies. Atleast with animals we often “rinse” a syringe with heparin before drawing blood to stop clotting. Wonder how hard I’d have to push to get blood from my boyfriend for something like this 🤔 also a tad longer needle would help with filing! Start with the needle at the bottom and then move up as it fills to avoid bubbles ✨☺️

  • Share & Crafts! Love it! loving that sideways ombre eye make-up, are the Lenses heterochomatic? cant quite make it out on my tab. happy spooky time! make- up arist for indi- gore is my forte, created a FX where a murderer washes blood off hands… Spectacular visual, director had to wait till scene was over to cheer but Shhhhh trade secret. it can be done Properly with a little training n experimentation

  • What an interesting coincidence! I had to get my blood drawn three days ago (which is a whole story in itself because I have a very low pain tolerance and was crying hysterically the whole time) and after it was done I asked to see it. It looked really cool, and as I got home I was genuinely wondering if I’d be able to convince them to let me take some home and make jewelry with if I ever get blood drawn again.

  • I accidentally cut myself while trying to open something earlier, so i decided to make a blood vial ’cause why not, i’m already bleeding. So i got as much as i could which wasn’t very much tbh and watered it down with alcohol in the bottle. This didn’t really work ’cause the blood had already clotted a bit because i took too long, and then continued to clot and sink to the bottom. So i threw it away and decided to try making a new one, since i felt fine during the first and figured it wouldn’t be to hard to prick myself. But when i tried i couldn’t really press hard enough to draw blood and ended up making myself nauseous so i stopped.

  • i would absolutely love to do this except that i’ve never injected myself with anything much less removed something and also the last time i had blood drawn i became convinced that the wound would reopen and i would squirt blood everywhere like a cheesy slasher film and bleed to death so like, maybe someday

  • I used to work in the Drama Department at my High School and we’d make fake blood using either Caro Syrup and red food coloring or if we wanted blood that had bubbles in it we’d use dishwashing liquid. It worked well enough to make my mother sick to her stomach during our performance of Macbeth. Half the front row where my mother was seated up and left for the bathroom, mom included.

  • Damn, that shoelace seems like it’s seen better days… although I’m sure it’s in a healthier place now than it could have possibly been before. This is amazing and very cool that you found a way to relieve your desire to see the ol ‘flag in a rig’ without using AND make stunning jewelry at the same time. You are fucking phenomenal.

  • When i got my first large mystery coffin box from VampFangs i got the bat necklace in it and it came with a second blood vial necklace with skulls on either side but i switched the tube vial for the fang vial cos it looks better, i was a bit disappointed with the second mystery box i got from them, it was nothing like the first and full of crap i still haven’t used lol cos the first one was awesome ! I need an ankh one now !! <3

  • A friendlier alternative to needles for those not confident with them is using a lancet pen like an accu-chek. It does take a couple of goes so maybe spread it out over a few days, but I found that the tiny prick on the tip of your finger is enough to give you a small vial worth of blood of you squeeze your finger.

  • oh cool. good to know about how blood behaves for writing, especially about how it reacts with whiskey. reminds me of the scene in Galactica when jude law’s character seductively blows smoke into his bourbon–all the different sexy ways alcohol reacts with physics, I suppose. smoke would be air and blood is technically earth due to the mineral content but also water. and it looks to be a good thing there is some kind of air bubble at the very end of the vial so that there is not too much air/oxygen interacting with the blood clot. air is what degrades the blood and turns it brown.

  • Be careful with the obese ( deep vein) idea as well. I’m overweight and have easy surface veins. I’ve had medical personnel dig in my arm because they made that very wrong assumption. My mother was a phlebotomist, grandmother RN, grandfather LPN and I had many home sticks and was taught simply for educational purposes. It is true many larger people can be a hard stick but there’s many reasons why someone can have that problem. Know your body and which arm and where is best for blood draws. Using a blood pressure cuff is also really helpful for tough sticks. It is recommended that the cuff should be inflated just below the patient’s diastolic blood pressure. It use to be 40mm but it can vary so much from person to person. All that being said be safe and make sure to keep everything nice and clean. Some of the coolest pieces and gifts are blood jewelry.

  • Maybe kind of a gross question, but does anyone know if this would work with menstrual blood?? I use a cup so it’s an easy and relatively mess free way of collecting blood, and I’m terrified of needles so I can’t do it this way but really want to make one of these necklaces myself. Would it still work or would the thicker consistency of menstrual blood mess it up somehow? 🩸

  • So don’t do it if you can’t do it properly and because I don’t know how to do it properly my dumbass thought oh my God it shouldn’t be so hard like look at her go! I did it and now my hand was bleeding nonstop but I stopped the bleeding. Now it’s really really REALLY swollen and it’s getting bigger, AND IT HURTS LIKE HELL

  • Never related to someone more than you I love blood so much it’s so beautiful and yummy it can either calm me down or make me really excited and happy depends on the day 🥰btw I was perusal this cuz me and my amazing gf wanted to have blood vial necklaces with each other’s actual blood in it to show how much we’d give up for each other 😅

  • I’d love to do this, but worried my boyfriend would think I’m weird…..yet again he has pentagrams everywhere just like me, Thanks for making this article, really interesting. I had to have a test the other day they needed blood, but wouldn’t see anyone due to covid-19, so they gave me a small vial half filled with some type of chemicals, and these small grey thing, instructions were to press your finger on the grey “lancet” and a spike shot out and you directed the blood into the vial, then turn it upside down 5 to 10 times. Don’t know what the chemicals were but must have been something to stop it clothing/ conjeling kind of thing. Do you know what you could add to stop it clotting and going nasty and clotting up?

  • That’s so cool, don’t know if I would have the courage to extract blood from myself. I’m a wimp enough as it is when getting a blood test by a professional 😂 For quite a while now I’ve wanted to own one of those morbid pieces of art where they use blood instead of paint but my partner says those are deemed a health violation in the UK.

  • An ex of mine and I wanted to do blood vial necklaces, we kinda chickened out but one day I had a nosebleed so he got his vial of my blood that way 😂 I had a friend once who drew a star on my arm with a razor blade and then put my blood into his mcflurry but the thought of needles gives me the heebies.

  • i’m not able to get the blood by my own since i never did it and doing it myself is terrifying me.. does anybody know another safer way to get it (instead of cutting)? or would y’all say i should ask my doc the next time i’m at her place? i don’t have a problem with nurses taking blood, just doing it myself is scaring the shit out of me

  • I enjoy getting pierced but for some reason pushig a needel into veins horrifies me,. It’s an interesting article but seeing you drawig your own blood is bizarre and it actualy made me a bit sick. And it reminded me that I should get my blood work done, let’s hope by doing that often enough one day I can watch my doctor take my blood and make jewelry like that and donate blood

  • SELF HARM TRIGGER WARNING…When I self harmed a big part of it for me was a way of self punishment. I use to take aspirin or drink alcohol (also thins blood) before cutting because it made my blood flow much more easily, and I was prettier and idk sorry to gross anyone out lol I’m self harm free now! But this necklace is such a cool idea I might opt in for a fake blood one, as to not trigger myself when getting the blood if that makes sense

  • for anyone who wants to do this but doesnt feel comfortable with the whole blood extraction depending on your doctor mine is realy nice you can go to a doctor and ask them to extract a bit of blood as i said my doctor is realy nice and i made a blood vial necklace before i just went into her office and told her about it and she pulled the blood for me so yeah ask a doctor if you dont want to do it yourself

  • I based my “Annabeth’s” necklace based on what we see Luke wear in the show (the beads only have 1 solid colour for now) Also me and my friend have chb bead necklaces! When we went camping for school I gave her a bead necklace (1 bead since she read the books this) I made. Those things mean so much to me

  • I’ve just finished painting the beads and this has been SO HELPFUL. I’m going to wait for a while b4 using the clear nail polish, but I can’t wait! Idk if I’ll do the adjustable cord if I can’t find one a bit longer, but I love the idea! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!❤❤ Plus, I’m thinking about using the CHB bead as a bookmark, or something I can add to the Riordanverse bookmark I already have. We’ll see!

  • I made my CHB necklace a DAY BEFORE THIS article CAME OUT!!!! Ahhhh, but how I colored my beads was, I used a sponge brush. ( I think that’s what it’s called anyway if it’s not it’s those little sticks with sponges on them. ) and I used a skewer to hold the beads while I dabbed them with paint I found it MUCH easier this way! ( Lots of trail and era. ) 😀😀
