A composite chart is a unique form of astrology that provides insights into the dynamics and potential challenges of a partnership. It is created by combining the birth charts of two individuals, revealing the unique energy and potential of their partnership. The composite chart has a core identity, symbolizing its purpose (the Sun) and a characteristic set of emotional responses and needs (the Moon). It is calculated as an “average chart” from the natal charts of both partners.
There are two main ways to combine astrology charts: the midpoint method (Composite chart) and the geographic method (Davison chart). This article will focus on the Composite chart. A composite chart is the result of two birth charts added together to find the mathematical midpoint between each placement. The signs in a composite chart describe the basic stuff or “temperament” of the relationship, while the planets describe the motivating energies.
A composite relationship chart combines your chart with another person’s chart, serving as a cosmic care and feeding manual for any two people. It details the nature of the relationship your two charts have together as a blended entity, providing tremendous insight into the dynamics and potential of your partnership.

How do you calculate composite astrology chart?
Composite charts are created by overlaying two birth charts and calculating the midpoint between their planetary positions, creating a new chart with the new planetary position and aspect. They are similar to synastry charts in exploring relationships but are created as a unit, with only one set of elements. Astro-Charts, a modern and accurate astrology website, offers birth charts with a modern look and accurate data from NASA’s planetary databases.
They handle calculations, daylight savings, and other location situations, and offer customizable options like orb limits, multiple house systems, sidereal calculation, declinations, planet, asteroids, or aspect. Astro-Charts is open to suggestions for more features that may be useful. Overall, composite charts provide a modern and accurate approach to astrology, offering a unique and engaging experience for users.
How do you read a composite index?
The NYSE Composite Index is a widely recognized benchmark for market performance, measuring the weighted average value of each stock in points rather than dollars. Its performance is reflected in changes in these prices over time, providing a snapshot of the market or a specific sector. The NYSE Composite Index is known for its diverse array of assets, unlike other indexes that focus on fewer companies and offer less diversification. The S and P 500, for example, includes the 500 largest publicly traded stocks from both the NYSE and NASDAQ, and is weighted by market capitalization.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which includes 30 large-cap blue chip stocks, is price-weighted, meaning that higher prices have a greater impact on its valuation. The NASDAQ Composite Index, like the NYSE Composite Index, lists only 3, 000 companies on the NASDAQ stock exchange and focuses on tech and growth stocks.
How do you read an astrological compatibility chart?
- Astrology compatibility charts are used to determine if two birth or natal charts are truly compatible. To begin, one must have their own chart and their partner’s chart, along with a list of aspects to look for. If the sun signs are compatible, there is a positive energy surrounding the relationship, and the vibes flow as one. The signs for compatibility include Aries: Gemini, Sagittarius, Leo
- Taurus: Cancer, Capricorn, Pisces
- Gemini: Libra, Aquarius, Aries
- Cancer: Taurus, Scorpio, Virgo
- Leo: Sagittarius, Aries, Gemini
- Virgo: Taurus, Cancer, Capricorn
- Libra: Aquarius, Gemini, Sagittarius
- Scorpio: Cancer, Capricorn, Pisces
- Sagittarius: Aries, Aquarius, Leo
- Capricorn: Taurus, Pisces, Virgo
- Aquarius: Sagittarius, Libra, Gemini
- Pisces: Scorpio, Cancer, Capricorn
To find your sun sign, one must have their birth date, time, and location. By analyzing these aspects, one can determine if they are a perfect match for each other.
How do you read conjunctions in astrology?
Astrologers suggest that a conjunction can occur with a distance of 0-10° between planets. Planets can be identified by their alignment, appearing overlapping or adjacent. While not everyone has a conjunction in their astrological chart, it’s important to note that each chart is unique. If a chart was created for you, you might see a conjunction abbreviated as “con”. The combination of planets in a conjunction can help emphasize key personality traits, making it easier to understand their impact on your chart.
How do you interpret a composite function?
To find the composition of functions, first compute g(a) by substituting x = a in g(x) and then g(a) into f(x). The order of the functions is important, as they may not always be equal. To find the domain of a composite function, find the domain of the inner function and the domain of the resultant function, then take the intersection of both domains. This method helps in evaluating composite functions at specific x values.
What shows your soulmate in your birth chart?
Astrology is a fascinating field that provides insights into our personalities, life paths, and relationships. It is particularly intriguing in identifying soulmate aspects in astrology charts, which are formed by the interaction of planets and points in two individuals’ charts. These aspects can reveal deep, karmic connections that suggest a profound and lasting bond. One of the most powerful indicators of a soulmate connection is the aspect between the Sun in one chart and the Moon in the other.
A harmonious aspect, such as a conjunction, trine, or sextile, suggests a deep emotional and intuitive understanding between partners. The Sun represents the core self and vitality, while the Moon governs emotions and subconscious needs. This aspect is a blend of conscious and unconscious harmony, suggesting a profound and transformative relationship between partners.
How is conjunction read?
The conjunction of two statements, designated as p and q, is represented by the symbol p ∧ q, which signifies the logical conjunction of p and q, that is, “p and q.” The veracity of the statement is contingent upon the veracity of both constituent statements; it is false if one of the constituent statements is false.
What is the rarest conjunction in astrology?
Great conjunctions occur every 20 years when Jupiter overtakes Saturn in its orbit, making them the rarest of the conjunctions between naked-eye planets. The spacing between the planets varies, with most events being 0. 5 to 1. 3 degrees (30 to 78 arcminutes, or 1 to 2. 5 times the width of a full moon). Very close conjunctions occur less frequently, with separations of less than 10 arcminutes only happening four times since 1200, most recently in 2020.
Great conjunctions have attracted significant attention as omens in the past, with topics discussed by pre-scientific and transitional astronomer-astrologers, scholastic thinkers, and authors such as Dante, Lope de Vega, and Shakespeare. This interest in conjunctions can be traced back to translations of Arabic texts, particularly Albumasar’s book on conjunctions. In the past, great conjunctions were discussed by pre-scientific and transitional astronomer-astrologers, scholastic thinkers, and authors like Dante, Lope de Vega, and Shakespeare.
What is a yod in a composite chart?
A Yod, also referred to as the Finger of God, is initiated by the movement of celestial bodies in a horoscope, thereby activating the midpoint of the sextile that serves as its foundation. This Yod frequently signifies a decision point, wherein one must relinquish one element in exchange for another.
What is the most important thing to look for on a compatibility birth chart?
Compatibility is a key factor in determining a partner’s compatibility. The sun and moon signs play a significant role in determining compatibility, as they guide the couple’s inner emotions and fit into the world. The dominant element in a partner’s chart is typically water, earth, fire, and air. People with the same dominant element tend to be compatible, as they share similar values and tendencies.
Conversely, water- and earth-dominant people tend to get along, and fire and air-dominant people tend to get along. However, compatibility can be influenced by various aspects and placements, and it’s not possible to cover every aspect and no pair is completely astrologically compatible.

Great article, happy to see someone finally talking about the composite chart! Husband and I have a Cancer Sun, Sagittarius Moon, Leo Mercury, Leo Venus, Cancer Mars and Aries ascendant. We love building our home together and want to create a safe and warm environment just for us. This is our composite cancer sun and mars, and then my natal moon sextile his sun. But besides that, the arguing is emotionally exhausting. We get into arguments about families because both of ours are unhealthy. Natally, my mars is very tightly opposite his Pluto and it’s exhausting! We also love to talk about philosophy, religion, spirituality. Traveling/driving around is fun for us. We never run out of things to discuss and enjoy exploring. This is our composite Sagittarius moon, as well as some 3rd house synastry. We’re very dramatic and love to go out, and both like large displays of affection. We both like flashy things and will spend money on luxury, even if we regret it later. This is our Leo Venus, and then my natal Leo Venus is conjunct with his sun. He also has his Leo Jupiter in my 2nd house. We met during Aries season a few year’s back. We were engaged in a year, married in three and now we’re expecting our first child after 5 years. A lot of people criticized us for “moving too fast”, but we both knew what we wanted from the start. Hope you can use this as an example or something! ☺️
My boyfriend and I have our composite Mercury in Gemini this was 110% accurate. We both are interested in completely different topics but we learn from each other via talking to each other a lot lol. Me also have our composite sun conjunct Mercury in the 3rd house (Aries ACS in the chart). This is probably the best explanation of composite charts that I’ve seen yet. ❤
Partner and I have a 12th-house stellium in our composite chart (in Libra). She’s battling an addiction, and I’m struggling with trying to help her or walking away. But the whole chart has a mystic rectangle when you add the nodes and chiron. Perhaps if we get through this, it will be a deep soul connection that lasts a lifetime. Or the struggle could just kill us.
Hi Meredith! I enjoyed this article and yes, it would be so interesting one that talks about the nodes in the conposite chart 😊. When Saturn conjuncted the composite Sun of me and my ex, our relationship suffered and then we broke up but remained friends; now it’s Pluto who’s going to make another conjunction but now to the composite south node, I’m guessing our friendship will die now…
Hi Meredith! Thank you for all of your incredibly informative articles, it’s been a great help. I have a question, I’ve read so much negativity on the 12th and 6th houses in composites and my current partner and I have an exact opposition between our sun (12th h Pisces) and moon (6th h Virgo). We both natally have 12th house suns and he has a 6th house moon and I’m trying to find info that isn’t fatalistic and/or depressing. Thank you❤
❤ Meredith, i just found your website!! I dont know how that happened! Anyway, I really know nothing but loving everything Astrology! Im a Scorpio sun Aries Moon and Leo Asendent. I have a lot of planets in Scorpio. I need some help! Im a good person, just lost. I don’t hurt people, in fact, i love everyone. My family gives me grief over it. Where do i start?.Help.😮 If you can tell me where to start. I would very much appreciate an help. Thank you!
Me, gem sun & rising. Him, sag sun & rising. Both suns in 1st house. Composite asc square both natal asc. Composite sun in virgo in 7th house. Neither have any virgo in natal charts or ANY planets in 7th house. But, this is very difficult as sun is tightly conjunct pluto, uranus, mercury & vertex on DC. Chiron & lilith conjunct AC. Chart ruler, neptune, exactly conjunct NN. Neptune tightly sextiles 7th house stellium. Juno exact on MC. Mars trines 7th house stellium. Moon alone in 6th house with only a 5 degree sextile to jupiter. Venus in 2nd house with close trines to eros, psyche, & juno on MC, wide square from mars. Will we make our karmic contract which I see as complete transformation to unconditional love ? Only time will tell. Also, saturn in 7th widely opposes venus & squares jupiter.
