To learn spells in Magic, players need to find spell books or runestones found in the world. There are three types of magic: Attack, Defense, and Charm, with up to six spells per category. Players can forget an old spell to learn a new one. To equip a spell, players must right-click on it from their inventory and meet the magic requirements to obtain and use it.
To change spells, players must hover over the spell and press one of the function keys. Strict magic systems, with spell lists and direct effects, appeal to some players, while more loose interpretive systems appeal to others. Attack spells increase the dmg and range of the spell, defensive spells increase the defensive and duration, and charm spells increase the effect.
To use potions or fish on pets, players can drag the item to the spell overlay. Spells can be learned by opening both the player inventory and the spell book, and left-clicking the spell. Unwanted spells can be removed by Shift-clicking an unwanted spell in the spell book.
To use magic, characters must first summon magical energy (Magic roll) and then use the magic the next turn. All spells can be learned by activating a book from the player’s inventory or feeding a scroll with an appropriate spell.
Skills are an easy avenue into magic, but the main question is whether it repurposes existing skills or demands the creation of new ones. Players must be born into a mage family with magic circuits that allow them to do magic.
