What are the shards in Mistborn?
Mistborn, set on the planet of Scadrial, is a series that explores the concept of shards, each representing a different concept. In The Lost Metal, Harmony is challenged by Autonomy, a god of rugged individualism, who seeks to take over the planet. Worshipers of Autonomy strive to prove themselves to their patron god, but instead, they copy each other in hopes of being the best. This supernatural plotline aligns with the industrial revolution happening in the capital city of Elendel, where businesses are built around the monetization of allomancy, political corruption reminiscent of the United States’ Gilded Age, and the rise of imperialism as the people discover indigenous groups.
Sanderson shows care in including underrepresented groups in his work, such as the inclusion of a lesbian wedding in The Lost Metal and the discovery of a fictional indigenous group in The Bands of Mourning. He avoids tropes of fictionalizing native people by depicting well-developed cultures without “othering” or exoticizing them. One example of good representation is Steris, an autistic protagonist in Era 2. Initially portrayed as cold and calculating, Steris gradually becomes a strength that saves lives.
One drawback to Mistborn Era 2 is the prevalence of the police in the fictional city of Elendel. Although the city does not have the same history of racial violence as the US police force, the aesthetics and political plotlines nod to the US Gilded Age, making it difficult to root for protagonist Marasi, who is a cop in a country that’s sort-of-but-not-quite America. Overall, Sanderson’s representation of underrepresented groups in Mistborn Era 2 is commendable, as it allows readers to appreciate the complexity and complexity of the characters and their struggles.
Is the Lord Ruler a shard?
The Lord Ruler was a relatively weak Shard, which held only a small amount of power. The remaining residue was subsequently designated as a “Sliver.” Vin was a Shard for a brief period and subsequently relinquished his power, subsequently becoming a Sliver of Adonalsium, as evidenced at the conclusion of the trilogy.

Elend and her Mistings face Ruin’s massive koloss army, while Marsh, controlled by Ruin, tries to block Elend. Elend dies but gains an axe, revealing that he and his Atium Mistings used Ruin’s body in the battle. Marsh beheads Elend in rage. Vin realizes that Preservation gave a part of himself to create humans, giving people both abilities to create and destroy. With Elend dead, Vin attacks Ruin, destroying both herself in the form of Preservation and Ruin.
Sazed, he realizes he is the Hero of Ages and the savior from the Terris prophecies. He takes both powers and becomes Harmony, combining Preservation and Ruin in one form.

Why did Kwaan betray Alendi?
Kwaan, a philosopher, scholar, and traitor, was the first to believe Alendi was the prophesied Hero of Ages. He later realized his mistake and recruited his nephew Rashek to prevent Alendi from taking up the power of the Well of Ascension and freeing an unknown evil, Ruin. Rashek, known as the Lord Ruler, took up the power himself and established the Final Empire. Kwaan’s actions had a significant effect on Scadrial and the greater cosmere for over a millenium.
Before his death, Kwaan inscribed a brief history of his exploits on a steel plate discovered by Sazed, which was critical to Kelsier’s crew realizing the extent of Ruin’s interference in their actions. Kwaan and the other Terris philosophers were all men of great wisdom and ponderous sagaciousness, but Kwaan was not.
Is Vin or Elend more powerful?
Elend, born without Allomantic abilities, becomes Mistborn after swallowing a bead of lerasium at the Well of Ascension. His Allomantic power is stronger than contemporary Allomancers, and he is more comfortable with emotional Allomancy than physical Allomancy. With proper experience, he could use his raw Allomantic power to pierce weak copperclouds. Elend has extensive knowledge in political theory, economics, and military theory, and claims to be no statistician.
History\nElend was beaten to near death to determine his Allomancer abilities as a child. His mother had a great influence on him, and when he was thirteen, his father forced him to sleep with a skaa woman. Elend began intentionally acting in ways that would enrage his father, such as messy clothing and large engagements.
In the end, his actions were pointless, and both he and Straff knew it. Elend started a drinking group with Jastes Lekal, Telden Hasting, Kevoux, and another young noble to discuss philosophy and form an alliance to exert pressure on the Lord Ruler. The group was partly formed to annoy Elend’s father, as Elend showed interest in the skaa and wanted to use his power to improve their lives.
Who kills the Lord Ruler?

Vin fights the Lord Ruler, who she recognizes as not the Hero of Ages but his Terrisman advisor Rashek, who had killed the Hero and taken his place as an incredibly powerful Allomancer and a Feruchemist. The combination of the Eleventh Metal and the unexpected magical aid of the mists grants him incredible healing powers and eternal youth.
Vin is almost destroyed by the Lord Ruler, but with hints from the Eleventh Metal and the unexpected magical aid of the mists, she manages to separate him from his Feruchemical bracelets that provide him with constant youth, causing him to age rapidly. How did Vin defeat Ruin?
The Kandra, who are believed to be the Hero of Ages, are saved by Sazed, who finds faith in the ancient Terris religion and the Hero of Ages. Elend leads the last of humanity to the Kandra homeland, the Pits of Hathsin, where Ruin’s power is stored. Ruin has been tricking Vin and Elend into leading him to his body, which turns out to be the atium stash hidden in the Kandra homeland. Elend realizes that the Mists have been snapping mistings and providing an army of atium mistings.
He leads a desperate battle against the koloss, but Marsh appears again and faces down Elend. Despite receiving mystical aid from Vin, giving him unlimited metallic power, Marsh strikes Elend in the chest with an axe, which proves fatal. As he is dying, Elend reveals that his soldiers have burnt away all of Ruin’s body, the atium, in battle, so now Ruin can never recover his missing power. Vin realizes that Preservation gave of himself to create mankind so that mankind would be able to manifest both Preservation’s ability to create and Ruin’s ability to destroy.
Vin and many others thought she was the Hero of Ages, but it is revealed to be the Terris Keeper Sazed. Who was Ruin Mistborn?
Ruin, also known as Herr in Southern Scadrial, is a Shard of Adonalsium, holding its original vessel, Ati, and currently held by Sazed alongside Preservation, forming Harmony. Ruin’s Investment is typically associated with the color black. It represents entropy and decay, seeking change to age and pass. Although not inherently evil, its destructive actions often contradict peaceful life. This approach to Ruin as inevitable decay is largely due to Ati’s original kind nature, who channeled it towards a more peacable state. Ruin operates not only on the entropy and decay of the world but also on a psychological level.
What was the 11th metal?
Malatium, an alloy of atium and gold, is used by Allomancers to see past lives or potential futures. Known as the Eleventh Metal, it is silvery white and similar to porcelain. Flaring malatium allows Allomancers to see beyond a person’s shadow, allowing them to glimpse into the Spiritual Realm and see past events in their life. This metal is a counterpart to atium, allowing Allomancers to see connections and past events in others. The exact use of malatium remains unclear.
Who is the most powerful Mistborn?
In Mistborn, Vin is the most powerful natural Mistborn, defeating key antagonists like The Lord Ruler and Ruin due to outside circumstances. She has been trained by a skilled Mistborn in Kelsier and has experience against powerful foes like Koloss and Inquisitors. The Steel Inquisitors, particularly under Ruin in The Hero of Ages, are incredibly powerful during the original Mistborn trilogy. Inquisitor power comes from Hemalurgy, granted by spikes.
Marsh, with 22 spikes and some Allomantic powers, is insanely powerful in book 3, surpassing any normal Mistborn. Marsh was a powerful rebellion leader before becoming an Inquisitor, but his physical strength was only a Seeker Misting. Despite his power, Marsh is one of the more obscure cases in the Cosmere, complementing his complex character arc.

I really like your articles and they are very informative all the time (didnt know the special worker thingy for example) But this time u made a small mistake: the best recipe is NOT the weaponbox, but the “Karlstein Armor Box (Female Charakter)” “WhY ThAtS oNlY 261/40 = 6,525 crons per mysticalshard and thats the mistake many people make, cuz this box contains the Armor slot AND the Gloves slot of a costume, so when u extract, its 261+87 crons and thats 348/40 = 8,7 crons/Mysticalshard. Sry for being picky on this one, but maybe that helps
Awwwh man. The article was only a reminder. I knew that trick already : ) Keep up the good work. I piece of caution perhaps…? Given that the Calpheon Ball is so soon, if the cron stones are not immediately needed, it miiight be wise to wait in case they aren’t announcing any new usage for the Old Moon Patterns. They did introduce craftable pearl shop furnitures last Ball, so who knows what they might announce on December?
So I have a worker with thrifty abc, but leveling up that special worker then try and reroll those skills on him down the line. So far I’ve only made 2 weapon boxes, I’m not in a rush, but read the pinned comment, and it says make the female armor box instead? I am playing the long game, no rush here. Want to be as efficient as possible.
I always loved the upper part of that outfit but hated the bottom part of it for the female version. I do like seeing legs like everyone else but it feels like something is missing due to the lack of details compared to the upper part. Like she forgot to put something on. I just realized my DK’s free basic outfits come with extra long boots though, so I should get something nice by mixing them in. Quite fitting that you also used a DK for the article.
I have question for anyone that could help. I just started playing BDO maybe 2 weeks ago and I just finished the Mediah storyline. I noticed my character’s costume changed. Did I unknowingly equip this costume or is it automatically changed during this portion of the game? Follow up question: I intend on buying a costume from the Pearl shop. Is it in danger of being automatically changed into something else automatically during some other portion of the game? Thanks in advance.
