In Elden Ring, players can equip and cast spells by resting at a Site of Grace in the Lands Between and selecting the Memorize Spell option. This menu allows players to select any of their gained spells to take up an open memorization slot. To use magic in Elden Ring, players must memorize spells and equip incantations.
To cast incantations, players need to obtain a Sacred Seal, equip and charge them, and find the best locations for each spell. The first step to using spells in Elden Ring is to memorize them, as every spell has a requirement that can be seen when selecting it in the menu.
In addition to memorizing spells, players can also learn about 101 Incantations, Faith-based spells that require a Sacred Seal to cast. These spells have effects, damage types, and how to equip them in their inventory. Players can switch between spells by hitting the d-pad top button and cycle through them like flasks and left/right weapons.
To equip spells, players must first rest at a Site of Grace and select ‘Memorize spell’ in the list of options. They can then use the D-pad to select their spell and use LB/L1 or RB/R1 to cast them. For magic spells, players need to equip the proper weapon type, such as a staff, to cast their respective school of spells.
For controller users, a simple bar in the UI with all selected spells can be added to the UI. However, players should note that this guide does not cover the basics of spellcasting, arcane arts, and magic in combat.
