How To Repair A Magic Rubik’S?

This video tutorial teaches how to fully restring a Rubik’s Magic puzzle, a beginner’s method that may take about an hour. The process involves completing the first layer cross and the first layer. The Rubik’s Cube can be frustrating and seem impossible to restore to its original configuration, but once you know a few algorithms, it is very easy.

To make a Rubik’s Magic, you need to acquire tiles and string loops. You can either buy Rubik’s Magics and take them apart or buy DIY Magic kits from Rubik’s. This four-part video tutorial will show you how to fix the puzzle by restring it.

To solve the puzzle, fold tiles 4 and 5 leftwards onto tiles 3 and 6, then fold the bottom half (5-8) and top half (1-4) together. Open up the loop of tiles, separating them. First, set up the puzzle as shown in the first picture, folding the top half on its back side and tucking the outer panels in.

Place the puzzle in the shape you want the solved position to be, and make a design to match this shape for the solved position. Mark the tiles with small labels. This beginner’s method is not uber fast, but it is a step-by-step guide for solving Rubik’s Magic puzzles.

  • I had this puzzle since I was a kid, I had forgotten about it, and also how to solve it, but awhile back my parents sent it to me in a box of “My Junk”, I’ve tried several times to give it to Goodwill, but my wife keeps pulling it out and keeping it. Because of this article I can now solve it in any state. Thanks!!!

  • Holy cow. I tried it myself for 2 days and didn’t get it back into it’s “solvable” state, always had some weird patterns. Today I gave up, tried to get the most recognizable state and was about to post it on reddit to ask for help when I stumbled upon your article. And thanks god, I had the exact same pattern as you have at 1:44 😀 fixed it parallel to you and BOOOM, done. Thank you sir, you saved me a lot of frustrations 🙂

  • @Marcieslaf try to get it flat, thats what you want to do. the closer it is flat the closer you can unflip it into a 2 by 4. try to get it into a 1 by 4 . if you do that good thats close. just get anything you got to get flat. if you get a 3 by 2 thats good, you just have to get that bubble out. try flipping the bubble out, if not move it to another square and try to flip it out keep trying that.

  • Hi… I’ve had this piece of plastic since 1986, most of the time it’s lived in a drawer. Every once in a while I find it and after a frustrating hour or so it goes back .All I’ve been trying to do is to get it back to its start position, and now…26 bloody years later, I’VE DONE IT !!! and it’s all thanks to your article. Now I’m going to put it back in the drawer (quit while you’re ahead, I say) Maybe in another 26 years I’ll have another go and do the next bit.Thank you, thank you, thank you.
