The Reduvia weapon skill allows players to shoot small red arcs towards an enemy at the cost of FP. However, when these arcs hit, they bleed. A dagger is a better choice for bleed procs as it can do more damage in the same amount of time with faster hits.
The status buildup of spells depends on the spell scaling stat of your seal, which is derived from its upgrade level and scaling stats. Dragon communion seal gets very high status buildup. Hemorrhage, also known as Blood Loss, is a status effect that builds up through repeated application of the effect.
Nether Precision is a stat in Elden Ring that helps you proc status effects and increases your item drop chances. Bleed builds can be successful in various weapons or builds. Arcane is a stat that helps you proc status effects and increases your item drop chances.
The standard approach to proc a spell on attack is to write triggers based on whenever a unit takes damage, which then runs a check as to the damage source. The faster you attack, the more procs you get. Proc chances that use PPM are normalized for attack speed.
The core needs support to manipulate damage from within a aurascript by using eventInfo. A sorceress built around proc spells can drop an almost constant stream of spells on the enemy using Fanatic Swing. Other spells get procing on its spell proc.
You can freely add as many lines of proc spells as you like, with all of them having their individual chances to fire. A single proc spell can help proc singed faster on Hodir.
📹 How To Scale Blood Loss Or Bleed Scaling In Elden Ring
In this Elden Ring guide, we take a look at how you can scale the blood loss passive ability so that it will proc more often. How To …
📹 So Deathblight is Actually RIDICULOUS – Why This Status is a Bit BROKEN in Elden Ring – Build Guide!
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak can wait for now as we delve into Elden Ring and its Elden Ring gameplay with this Elden Ring …
Occult affinity slight raises bleed build up but not any more then the bleed affinity but say you heavily invest in arcane and the weapon you use doesn’t have arcane. Well it may seem weaker because the build up time is less then a bleed affinity but your physical damage scales higher then say str or dex if using a katana for example. So its useful for pure arcane builds and scales phy. damage higher and very useful for bosses immune to bleed but your arcane has to be stupid high to notice this (mostly in the 80 range).
There is quite a bit of incorrect information in the article and the comments here. “Build up” is NOT damage. Its how fast the status effect is applied. Status effects have a fixed rate of damage. Blood loss does 10% max hp when triggered. Having bleed on a weapon does ZERO extra damage until you trigger the blood loss. How fast you trigger it depends on the “build up”
Honestly in my research, the blood flame blade incantation is more worthwhile than any affinity and trying to scale it. It does around 35 bleed buildup per tick for like 2-3 seconds. And that can probably be increased if your sacred seal has arc scaling but I’m not sure. But that bleed buildup plus a katana with bloody slash is almost instant bleed procs
Just a little tip: the giants crusher, when changed to blood affinity, has on +25 an A-scaling with strenght and a blood loss build up az 122, so it’s prettybridiculuos. So let’s say your str-stat is 80 and you changed it’s affinity to blood loss, you have a weapon with around 750 AR and a ridiculuos blood loss build up
I think an explanation could be that ‘Attribute scaling’ might refer just to the passive effects and innate attributes of the original weapon. Because the occult, poison or blood affinity introduces Arc scaling, whereas before it was absent, the innate weapon ability now can benefit from it. I suspect that if we add the bleed ability to a weapon via incantation or ash affinity then it might not be affected by arcane even if the weapon scales with it in its basic form.
Thanks for the article. I am currently at level 119, I put 1 point into arcane not knowing you needed to have arcane scaling with a grade level for it to work. Looks like I need to find the Black Whetblade and put more points into arcane. Now ppl in the comments say occult is better then straight up blood loss. So I may have to try them both out.
Saw a article of someone with dual occult scavenger curved blade w/seppuku plus flame grant me strength doing ridiculous bleed build up/damage. Occult is better for arcane scaling instead of blood, once your arcane gets high enough occult surpasses blood from what I understand. The difference in blood build up is negligible
i found weapon called hockcalws and kept it upgraded it has nice base bloodloss (60 i think) it served me well for while but sadly didn’t find some cool ashe of war for it !!! as most of them only applies to swords … and with my both hands holding the claws i can’t even use spells and those fancy stuff :/ … i can one shot most of enemies now with my melee dmg but i need to kill with style xD
Its pains me to see a negative status only designed for PVP….I refused to belive it but after a lot of testing with “tarnished” NPCs as you guys said and even Gideon the nothing knowing lab rat (you can actually drive him insane, literally) i noticed nothing. It also have little presence in the game PVE guise, just our friendos the big eyed basilisks, wormfaces and heavy armored mausoleum knights. Also Fortisax of course but he barely uses it. Hope they redesign it for the foreseable future and give us another tool for PVE.
Has anyone ever noticed how all the giant’s corpses in mountiantops of the giants are all seemingly the result of deathblight?? Like… all of them! I think this has epic lore implications… like, when Marika and them went to kill the giants all those years ago, they used deathblight. Maybe from Fortisax… maybe from Fia herself… who knows…?
Another interaction I rarely see mentioned is with the Grafted Dragon. It also applies status for whatever is on your right hand through it’s unique skill Bear Witness! I use this in conjunction with the Eclipse Shotel and Bloodflame Blade to hit other players with an explosion of Deathblight or bleed buildup which continues to tick as long as they’re standing in the ground fire. This interaction also WRECKS PvE with Black Flame Blade due to each tick of the fire taking off 2% of their total HP making it a great tool for NG+ and beyond.
Great article cotton, but you forgot the most useful way to apply deathblight: the crabs outside leyndell, i know that it usually unlikely for anyone to encounter it but it actually helped a few people with the dung eater questline by well… killing him so while the player cant apply it at least in dungeaters case npcs can die from it
Honestly? Deathblight needs a buff, not a crazy one but a buff nonetheless. If it’s intention is just to be used on players then it should be usable. For example a way to fix this would be to allow int. Scaling to apply more blight. Int, only scales up frostbite debuff and SOME sleep debuff (sleep is mostly applied via Arc) so just let Deathblight be centered around int scaling.
Tbh, I’d be happy if it turned enemy NPC’s into the deathblight trees when killed by the weapon and they stayed like that for a decent duration. Imagine how badass it would look if you got invaded in Limgrave, at that site of grace with the horde of militia men and the invader just sees like 20 soldiers all deathblighted. It would still be the same as it is now, sure, but the cool factor would be insane. It’d pretty much be another fashion thing and wouldn’t break the game PvE wise.
i think its probably for the best that deathblight isnt where madness is in terms of useability. Make it affect npc tarnished and make the ticks a bit stronger maybe but easier instakills in pvp isnt a good idea. Maybe at least add more spells that actually cause damage alongside the status buildup but anything too extreme would destroy pvp
It’s really weird to design something that is an instakill because it essentially makes leveling your vigor to a really high number pointless in those fights. Personally I don’t care for something of that nature to be in the game but at the same time there’s plenty of ashes of war that can one shot quite easily(and even more that can combo)
I feel like the effect should do the small spikes and not kill the player, but instead do some damage like say 1000 but if you get death blighted 3 times then you die with the big spike, but then also make death blight easier to apply, by either increasing the speed of certain death blight attacks or increasing the rate in which they apply it, make the range or area that the cloud affects players wider etc. so that at the end it applies faster does good damage once activated still kinda risky or hard to pull off 3 times but if you do you are rewarded with a guaranteed death of the player.
I believe if we had some more spells or ranged options in general for this status that apply like 5 points of deathblight per tick that actually do something this status wouldnt be to op but still be enjoyable to play. Pvp players annoy me and my friends that are playing alongside me anyway so it would be nice to have a simple hardcounter for them just to show what i think of elden rings constrictive multiplayer system.
Ok hear me out: Instead of the Death Rite Birds using Ghostflame I think they should use Death Blight. I don’t know about all of you but the raw damage of the DRB’s flame/attacks have always killed me before any frostbite could fully build and the scream only builds DB super close range, so it wouldn’t be too op imo. Switching the Deaths Poker from GF to DB would give DB more of a presence in pvp, with both the explosion or the row of flame (each are predictable and dodgable). Think about A: How fitting and cool they’d look and B: How much scarier they’d be if you knew horrible death awaited. And if that makes too many ai enemies that use DB, then the Worm Faces should use Sleep since that’s basically only used by like 1 or 2 enemies in the entire game max. I think it’d be equally terrifying if WFs used Sleep instead of DB, especially if they always tried their hug while you were recovering. DB should affect pve tarnished that’s a no brainer, as well as any weak pve enemies that are at least human: Such as the foot soldiers, kaiden, the grey midgets, wandering nobles, DEFINITELY pages, and certain knights. (I’d REALLY want banished knights, omen killers, perfumers, the fire monks and ESPECIALLY the albinaurics to be affected but that’s probably too far 😢)
4:27 You’d be surprised how many players will just stand inside the cloud when they notice it doesn’t actively deal damage to them. Not in meta duels probably but in mid level invasions it happens so much. I’m glad to finally see a article with some visual showcasing on the tick rate of the spell and build-up of weapon hits and ash of war. I was looking forever for this stuff when I made my own build some months ago but never found a good article about it. The crossbow glitch really has no reason to be covered here, though. Exploits should not be promoted to an audience as large as the one of this website. The exploit using an effect that the article is about or it having a relatively low application of Death Blight is no excuse for that.
8:14 With Rivers of Blood, Moonveil, Dragon Breath Incantation’s, Blood Loss, Maddness, Sacred Relic’s Waves of Gold, Connection Issues, Mages Spamming literally ever spell imaginable to to the point in which it makes most punishes not practical as you take too much damage in return and Honed Lightning… I think the Devs known for making painful games can Buff Deathblight
Along w/ sleep effect, Fia’s Mist and Night Maiden’s Mist work great for stealth sneak-ups and luring, pair w/ sorcery strength boosting and spell casting duration talismans. You can also equip Unseen spells like Unseen Form and lurk in the mists of Death. The mists are also effective against the Crystalians which can be an incredible factor for early game INT builds who haven’t invested much in STR since heavy blunt objects are best against the Crystalians.
Deathblight is cancer, and quite literally. That is, it will kill you… eventually. If the host doesn’t perform field surgery on you first. Honestly baffles me how madness and deathblight only have less than a handful of spells and only 1-3 weapons that actually pair with it. Hoping the new coming expansion gives us what we need if not buffs
Synopsis of the article for me: Deathblight is worthless. It irritates me how they let RoB/blood buildup be the most potent thing in pvp for the longest time, even buffing it at one point. Hopefully Deathblight gets a rework in the future, it’d be cool to see it actually work and not just be a placeholder 😐
Kinda sucks that deathblight is such a useless status for PVE Especially considering how cool Godwyn is and his lore I really wish that it would work on all enemies like bleed, but takes a bit longer to build up and does a little more damage plus causes a death aura and maybe some roots to come out of an enemy
i’ve been trying to play around with a death blight focused build recently in pvp, it doesn’t go well, as cotton said because the build up is so slow on pretty much everything that causes it i either die or kill the opponent way before it procs, the only solution i have come up with is they should either make the shotel apply it with all it’s attacks, and the ash of war buff increases how much it applies, making it actually usable or increase fia’s mist range and build up so you don’t have to be in kissing distance without charging it
honestly i think deathblight should get a small buff, nothing crazy like give us one weapon or one incantation that has deathblight and arcane scaling, but make the scaling on the weaker side, so that deathblight can build up fast enough that you need to be careful, but enough that its not overpowered. But make them a pain in your ass to get.
YES FINALLY, I have been going around with my 2 eclipse sholtels in PVP and have been looking to see what I can do to make them stronger! I’ve been using talismans and that seemed to work a bit but it wasn’t as strong. PS: you’ve probably seen me at the main gate using these bc I’m probably one of the first to use them! My Tarnished name is Seno. Anyway I’m so glad they made a vid about the eclipse sholtels because now my build becomes viable in PVP! And I’m proud to say that I am one of the first to make the eclipse sholtels a little OP in PVP bc there damage stacks together aswell!
Correction: npc invaders can be deathblighted, although I suspect that their resistance is higher. I got invaded by dung eater in during his questline, and he got killed by a crab with deathblight after killing me. Even though it counted as me killing him despite dying, I ended up losing the drop from the area resetting Edit: someone corrected me that deathblight casted by players won’t work on npc invaders, but that deathblight used by pve creatures have a better chance at affecting npc invaders
another thing that has its description wrong is the Crystal Release sorcery. The description reads ‘scours area with violent rain of crystal shards’. What it should say is ‘ scours area around caster with violent rain of crystal shards’. It is a bad thing when you have an enemy target locked and you cast this on it thinking it will cast around the enemy.
Honestly, the fact that the have a perfect setup for two different forms of Death Blight, but didn’t take advantage of it. Something that I think could work, change how Destined Death (Maliketh’s Black Blade), Blade of Death (Black Knife), and Black Blade (incantation) works so that they can work in tandem with the Death Blight status. Have it reduce max HP like it does currently, but also apply a debuff that builds up in strength with each consecutive hit that makes you more susceptible to Death Blight. For an example of how I think it could work, 5% debuff to Death Blight resistance for each hit from the Blade of Death, maxing out at around 15%, a 10% debuff for each hit from Black Blade, maxing at 20%, and a similar 10% from each hit of Destined Death, maxing at 30%, with an exception for if somebody’s somehow hit with all 3 hits of the Ash of War, if they’re hit by all 3, the initial swing, the jab into the ground, and the flurry, the debuff increases to 35% or 40%. Of course the numbers here could be tweaked for balance reasons, this is just an example. There’s also some high damage with these, so it’s still possible to kill them before the death blight is applied, however if somebody survives and heals up it’d make using the methods of applying death blight faster for the duration of the debuff. Forgetting that for a moment though, there’s quite a number of bosses and regular enemies both that Death Blight (as well as Madness, but that’s another issue) should work against.
It is really tricky to balance because it’s basically dark souls 1 curse affliction for pvp. But there is no point to being able to use a pvp only status effect if it’s damn near useless. Gotta give it something. Maybe a move similar to one of the frenzy flames that give you some range and length of time the attack remains active for, but keep the buildup small, so it’s a really useful spell/ash of war but you probably need to hit it 3+ times before it ticks.
It used to affect NPC but they took it out. I am all for it affecting certain bosses especially the Fire Giant as the lore implies the giants were all killed by Death Blight. If it were up to me I would have it affect any NPC character, certain enemies and a few select bosses. The bosses I would choose would be: Fire Giant, Fia’s Champions, Dragons except Placidusax (due to lore implying they can be affected by it) and obviously the NPC style bosses such as Necromancer Gilliam and Gideon. As for its effect, I would keep its instant kill on NPC and NPC bosses. But for Dragons and Giant I would make it only deal like 40% of their max health but only applicable once.
I love this. Death Linghtning just does shit tone of damage and the eclipse shotel is actually a decent weapon since for one it´s scaling is not bad and for second the ash of wars effect also buffs the weapons damage and the explosion does on itselfe good damage. So yeah. the true death blight is a sword through your stomache.
Oh it’s definitely too weak. I feel like both deathblight and madness should effect more ppl in pve. Deathblight should 100% effect invading npcs just as much as a regular player. They dodge and get out of danger, (most of the time lol) Also I don’t see why more enemies are immune to madness? Are they that brainless? 🤔
I don’t know why people complain about how deathblight is only for pvp. It instantly kills the enemy, there’s no challenge to just putting a status on an enemy, especially a boss, that status should never be allowed on a boss. Even if you tweak it a little, maybe half hp, it would defeat the whole purpose of it being called deathblight
Death Lightning is my favorite lightning spell! I just wish it was not as inaccurate in PvE. I sometimes get killed trying to hit with it because of it’s randomness. Bloodboon is my absolute favorite spell! Juicy fire! I didn’t even know I needed such a thing, but I love it and I would love it if it received a buff as well. 🤩
Very cool. Basically some (poor) area control and high damage trade factor. Like in the article i dont see this becoming meta in any way but the occasional Death Lightning with other scary weapons and such would be decent. I think if you get killed by death status from a player (no bugs) then its really a testament to how bad your build is. Id say remember anything can be viable.
Kinda too bad, the effect of killing someone with deathblight is so cool, but mechanically it feels more like an after thought to deal deal with players who turtle too much in PvP. I don’t really see why else they’d add it and not flesh it out like other status effects. Like even sleep has it good compared to deathblight lol. So personally I think they didn’t add it for us to make builds around, I think there’s a few different ways to apply deathblight to deal with a very specific type of player in PvP. Which is also one of the only scenarios where an average PvP player would switch weapon mid fight. Such a shame to see such a cool effect playing as a glorified counter to great sheilds.
They need to rework this, maybe add new weapons etc in a DLC like sythes, and possibly rework it, instead of it killing someone instantly it can jus bring them to 1 HP or something so it is more survivable idk tho, ima use the mist to block them from coming to me and then the crossbow attack u showed and rlly fuck arnd😂
Think about that flight is it literally doesn’t work unless you’re fighting a player and most people’s bills make it so that way you’ll end up killing somebody far before end in crocking the desk light as far as the desk light mist is concerned miss spells are kind of a bullshit smell anyway one that literally does no damage to NPC‘s whatsoever also stupid in the fact remains is if you want to Use death lightning don’t ancient dragon lightning strike deserve much more powerful spell I seriously find myself asking the question why did they even put displayed in the game it’s truly seems like a waste of time
Buff Madness and Deathblight for PvP, nerf Blood Loss and Magic in PvP. Lore reason, Frenzied Flame users want everyone to join them in their insanity of the “world would be better if there was no more suffering so here let me prove it too you by making you suffer.” The maddened use frenzied flame driving the target insane and have them unable to block or move for a long time resulting in a death with most PvP situations (unless the person is sadistic… yeah lore friendly). Deathblight, which is an effective tool against the Tarnished who are “Maddened” since it can ONLY be used in PvP, also sacrilegious to use so those who use it are fated to use it against each other (yay Godwyn, prince of death… lore friendly wooooo). That way the wizards and edge lords are still effective in PvE where they belong and PvP is geared toward quick matches regardless of POISE. Wear whatever style but make sure to gear talisman toward Deathblight/Frenzied build up or immunity… essentially making PvP defense and offense builds. Invasions of the friendly co-operative may be tough to balance since it just peeps inviting their friends to help fight bosses. You can make it where Blood Loss and Magic are nerfed only in PvP but while you are the host you keep your benefits… so really strong home-front. But your friends can’t help you with Rivers of Blood blade or Avada Kedavra spell casting. Also if you bring it upon yourself to be invaded you sacrifice your magic and blood letting, happy trails.
