The AquaRite S3 is a water treatment system designed for swimming pools. It has a dead front and display, which can be replaced by inserting a USB drive into the main board’s USB slot. The control board is completely different from the pre-1.5 firmware, which controls different hardware. To update the firmware, follow these steps:
- Remove the front panel and insert the USB drive into the USB slot on the main board.
- Press OK.
- Insert the USB drive into the USB connection on the main board.
- Replace the dead front and display.
- Power up the unit.
- Navigate to Service Mode->Firmware update.
If you are looking to replace a dead salt cell on an AquaRite control board, follow these steps:
Go to www.hayward.com and download the latest firmware version to your USB thumbdrive. Firmware is available separately for the unit’s model.
Check your system to confirm that you have programmed the correct cell size. If you program an incorrect cell size, the salt level, amperage, and voltage will not be correct.
Take your current cell to a store that offers diagnostics. Most stores have a test machine from Hayward that runs pass/fail tests on your pool.
The pool store site states that a T-9 cell requires software revision 1.5 for AquaRite or 4.2 for AquaLogic or newer to be compatible.
There is currently no way to update software on these units without purchasing a new PCB.
Navigate to Service Mode->Firmware update.
Select component to update, then select the matching file and select OK.
