How To Use The Switch’S Magic Ns?

The Mayflash Magic-NS is a USB wireless adapter that allows users to connect Bluetooth or wired USB controllers from various consoles to the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS3, and other entertainment systems. It supports controllers from the Nintendo Switch, PS3, NEOGEO mini, and PS Classic. The adapter is designed to let Switch players use a number of different controllers from outside of the Nintendo Switch.

To use the Magic-NS, connect the adapter to your Switch via the dock’s USB port or using a USB-A to USB-C adapter into the bottom of the controller. The adapter comes with the adapter itself, a USB cable to connect controllers to the Switch in handheld mode, a button sheet, and a manual with instructions on how to connect.

To use the Magic-NS, turn on your Nintendo Switch, PS3, NEOGEO mini, or PS Classic system, then connect the Nintendo Switch, PS3, NEOGEO mini, or PS Classic to a TV. First, turn on your NEOGEO Arcade Stick Pro and connect it to your TV. Then, switch to the Console Mode using the switch on the side of the Arcade Stick.

To use the Magic-NS, plug it into your Switch dock, connect the desired controller to the Magic-NS via USB cable, and disconnect your controller. This Bluetooth dongle from Mayflash allows users to use other popular controllers from other gaming systems without the need for an expensive Nintendo Switch Pro controller.

  • I think this dongle is amazing and conducts wonders, but I would like a patch allowing one dongle to register additional controllers at once. Granted, the easy, yet expensive solution is to buy multiple of these things and hopefully you have three third-party controllers and either a set of Joy-Con or a Switch Pro Controller all on one Switch console.

  • That’s really interesting but I wonder, if you just need multiple dongles to use multiple controllers. I would imagine the switch sees the dongle as a single controller, so no matter how many you connect, it’s still going to be a single player. But that’s still pretty neat since you could switch controllers for different games.

  • I think if you get multiple of those adapters and something like a fourscore, then I think you could sync up multiple controllers and have them all count as different players instead if one. I think this also works with gamecube so you can have 8 gamecube controllers hooked up to play 8 player smash.

  • This also works on modded wii u with hidtovpad, so now you can use an xbox one s controller for your pro controller. I like the idea of Wii U pro controller but the abxy button placement was to low for my liking. So now I use a switch pro controller on my Wii U, but would rather use my Xbox One S controller because its more comfortable to me.

  • I’d like to see an update on this vid. I believe that Mario Kart is two player in tablet mode, but four player in dock mode. Maybe that’s why the 3 controllers controlled player 2 in tablet mode. Hopefully four different controllers would control four different players in dock mode. Are you able to answer that? Thanks for the vid.

  • Will it work with a PS2 fight stick? It would be cool to use my Street Fighter Anniversary Stick with Street Fighter 2 Final Challengers, especially since it’s been right-handed my me. That’s the only off the shelf joystick I can use well enough. I understand it has to be plugged in. Somehow, Double Translations from PS2->PS3-Switch and PS2-> Xbox One-> Switch don’t work well.

  • Maybe I skipped over it, but I didn’t see any mention of whether multiple dongles would be recognized as player 3 & 4. Having the dongle support multiple concurrent bluetooth connections, yet not have it do the necessary masquerading to support player 3 & 4 is a missed trick. Though how does the Switch even handle 4 player? Can you have 4 pro controllers? or are you restricted to splitting 2 joy-con pairs?

  • The biggest problem with this, and I don’t think this a bad device I actually own a mayflash gamecube adapter, would be that u would lose out on the gyro control function, which is an ESSENTIAL FUNCTION FOR MOST GAMES ON THE SWITCH…sorry just had to rant, but my point still stands. U lose out on that function making u still have to buy a pro controller or even a charging grip if ur willing.

  • Yeah but you know nintendo. they will make a patch and this mayflash USB wont work anymore. thats what nintendo does. i LOVE nintendo. but theyre very greedy and if ppl arent buying their controllers they wont be happy, so be careful spending your money on this. it may not work in the future. nintendo is a killjoy sometimes :/

  • Also to note I hope I’m not the only one who hopes this I know its not going to happen but can you plz!!!! make a article how to play 3DS XL (or any other DS) with a any controller?Because I hope I will be able to play Minecraft 3DS with a controller (like a wii U or X box) PLZ AUSTIN JOHN like if you want this to!

  • It’s interesting but not practical. Seems you’re limited to only tablet mode, but even if you fix that all controllers are player 2 only? That’s the part that really sucks and kills the whole point/idea. Totally fine if you only have one friend or your friendships are mostly online buddies(basically, if you have no social life), a complete waste otherwise.

  • You need to set it to the Purple LED if you want to have Rumble functionality. And for those of you who cant get it to work, make sure to update the firmware. And most importantly make sure your xbox controller even has Bluetooth support. Apparently the older model xbox one controllers didnt work on bluetooth. The way to tell if your controller has bluetooth is to look at the plastic frame of the controller. If the plastic frame is one complete piece all the way up past the xbox button and going around the xbox button, then its a bluetooth version. If the plastic shell stops before the xbox button and has a separate plastic that goes around the xbox button then its the older non bluetooth version. No bluetooth means you cant connect wirelessly. You still have the option to connect via USB cable though. And if for some reason you have a Bluetooth version controller and it still doesnt want to connect, try connecting a USB cable to the dongle and the controller. As soon as the controller is identified by the system, you can disconnect the USB cable and start the sync process again. If you want to see a comparison picture of the two plastic frames do a google search for the following words and click on the reddit link. “Easy way to tell if a controller supports Bluetooth (For PC and mobile use) reddit”
