How Your Pets Behave During Ceremonies?

In the seven weeks leading up to and after the death of a beloved animal companion, it is important to find comfort and solace in various ways. In Buddhism for Pet Lovers, the author provides a comprehensive account of how to best help our pets during this time.

During the seven weeks after death, it is essential to chant the Maha Mantra or any mantra that you feel comfortable with, make your pet drink Ganga water, and eat a little. It is also important to know what to do with your pets during rituals, such as solar eclipses and pet funerals, to provide comfort and solace.

Some common Native American Death And Mourning Traditions include the use of sacred objects and rituals to honor the dead, the creation of memorials, and pet blessings. Pets deserve some magic, too, and can benefit from moon water for blessings.

After dropping off your pet for a procedure, it is crucial to guide them so they are not lost or alone. You may want a burial or to spread the ashes, including planting a tree or a memory of your pet. From setting up an altar to an easy four-step ritual, this article will help you find both closure and comfort.

Being calm during the ritual is essential, as your pet may not want to leave you and may not want to transition to the human form. Burning the letter and hair and scattering it with ashes of your familiar can help you find peace, acceptance, and healing.

When animals pass away, some tribes seek guidance from animal totems and perform ceremonies to honor the animals passing. Many people bury their pets in the backyard, lighting a candle and burning down in memory of the deceased pet. Appropriate prayers might include poetry on the occasion.

What really happens to the soul when an animal dies? Let me share with you what the animals have shown me about the process …

What happens after your pet passes away?

When burying your pet at home, your vet will assist in placing the body in a blanket or casket. Avoid using non-biodegradable materials and gently move the pet into a curled position to avoid stiffening during rigor mortis. If cremating, curl the pet gently into a resting position and wrap them in a blanket, ensuring an impervious material for leakage of body fluid.

If your veterinary practice arranges cremation, they will keep or bring the pet’s body back to the veterinary practice for home euthanasia or natural death at home. The crematorium usually picks up the pet’s body and brings it to the facility in their own transport. Most pets’ bodies are placed in cold storage, usually a freezer facility, to prevent decomposition. If you have not decided on how to care for your pet’s body, they will be stored in this cold facility until you decide.

If your pet died suddenly without a known cause or if a full understanding of their condition or disease was not reached during their life, your vet may discuss a post-mortem with you. A post-mortem involves opening up the body cavity and is generally not released for burial at home as an aftercare option. Your vet can discuss this fully with you, but no pet’s body should undergo a post-mortem without their owner’s full permission.

What happens to pets after cremation?

Pet cremation is a process that involves reducing a pet’s body to its basic elements through intense heat. The remains, known as cremains or ashes, are collected and returned to the pet owner in a specialized facility called a pet crematorium or crematory. There are three types of pet cremation: private, communal, and partitioned. Private cremation involves cremating the pet individually, providing a personal farewell. Communal cremation involves cremating multiple pets together, but not the ashes of the specific pet.

Partitioned cremation allows for multiple pets to be cremated in the same chamber but kept separate using partitions. The cremation process involves placing the pet’s body in a specialized chamber heated to extreme temperatures, reducing the body to its basic elements and leaving bone fragments. These fragments are further processed into a fine powder resembling ashes.

How long does mourning a pet last?

The grieving process is a natural and gradual process, with no “normal” timetable. It is important to be patient and allow the process to unfold naturally. Feeling sad, shocked, or lonely is a normal reaction to the loss of a beloved pet. Exhibiting these feelings doesn’t mean you are weak or misplaced, but it is a way to mourn the loss of an animal you loved. Ignoring or keeping the pain from surfacing will only worsen it in the long run.

For real healing, it is necessary to face your grief and actively deal with it. Expressing your feelings may take less time to heal than withholding them. Write about your feelings and talk about them with others who are sympathetic to your loss.

How do I know when it’s time to say goodbye to my pet?

Dogs often display signs of poor quality of life, such as withdrawal, restlessness, avoiding physical contact, excessive panting, crying, difficulty breathing, disorientation, loss of enthusiasm for walks, not eating or drinking, regular or persistent vomiting, and changes in toilet habits or incontinence. However, when your vet cannot keep your dog comfortable with medications or management suggestions, or if a condition suddenly occurs, you may need to consider putting your dog to sleep.

It is crucial to talk with your vet, family, and friends to ensure you make a decision based on your dog’s best interests and to understand their feelings. It is essential to make a decision based on your dog’s best interests to ensure a comfortable and happy life.

Why is it so sad when a pet dies?

The loss of a pet can be a significant source of distress, as they offer companionship and contribute to the fulfillment of our basic needs. It is not uncommon for humans to discern human emotions and thoughts in the expressions of their pets. However, this does not diminish the profound bond between humans and their pets.

What are the rituals for saying goodbye to a pet?

The author planned a ceremony for their cat Penny’s passing, but was more prepared when Penny’s time came. The rituals included creating a sacred space in their gazebo, playing soft music, lighting a candle, writing notes, reading a poem, and placing flowers on her body. They kept Penny home overnight and made breakfast the next day. The author took over an hour to pick flowers and arrange them around her, kissing her forehead and holding her paw.

Paw prints and fur were used to create memorial items, and photos were displayed on an altar and around their home. The author connected with nature and performed grief rituals, such as planting bulbs in their honor. These rituals helped the author acknowledge and honor their grief.

How long does grieving a pet last?

Grieving is a process that can last for weeks, months, or even years, and healthy grief gradually lessens over time. If you are experiencing grief that affects your sleep, eating habits, or ability to cope with life, seeking support from someone who understands and values your pet’s love can be beneficial. Counseling may also be beneficial if you are preoccupied with questions about your pet’s illness or death, have witnessed an injury or traumatic death, or feel stuck in any aspect of your grief.

Looking at your feelings honestly is the first step in working through grief and coming out whole and happy on the other side. The experience of loss is different for everyone, and moving towards the loss is the only way to learn to live with it. There is no “closure” in grief, as there may always be moments of sadness and longing, reflecting the enduring love for your pet. Despite the end of your time together, the love will never end.

What is a pet bereavement ritual?

A burial ceremony, which may include readings or remembrances of the deceased pet, can assist the bereaved in coping with their loss and finding closure. One may choose to frame a photograph of the animal in question or to create a scrapbook of memories and images to serve as a reminder of happier times spent in the animal’s company.

What happens to a dog’s soul after death?

Buddhism posits a cycle of rebirth and death, where an animal’s spirit moves on Earth for seven days after death, attempting to reconnect with loved ones. After this, the spirit enters a new body and begins a new life. The Buddhas believe that karma can help break this cycle, and the level of life experienced in each reincarnation determines everything. For example, a dog’s spirit may depart from the body and reincarnate as another living creature, even if it doesn’t recognize the person. The phrase “Rainbow Bridge” is associated with animal lovers who have lost a pet over time.

Will I see my dog in heaven?

Methodism, founded by John Wesley, believed that humans were God’s representatives, responsible for passing on His blessings to lower creation. However, when humanity sinned in the Garden of Eden, this relationship suffered. Wesley believed that our animals would be resurrected beings able to reason, feel, and relate to us in Heaven. In a new Heaven and Earth, all will be perfect, including a delightful animal realm.

We believe that God will restore our beloved pets in Heaven, not because they have souls, but as gifts for our pleasure. If we believe God is their Creator, He loves us and them, and intends to restore His creatures from the bondage they experienced due to our sin. Based on Jesus’ declaration and the universe’s creation, we should anticipate a joyful celebration and reunion with our pets, friends, and family in Heaven, a wonderful, exciting place beyond our wildest imaginations.

Am I really getting my dog’s ashes back?

Individual cremation allows you to receive your pet’s ashes back, while communal cremation involves cremating with others and not receiving the ashes. Paws into Grace uses a quality control and tracking system, assigning each pet a unique metal tag that is verified at least five times during the cremation process. To ensure you receive the ashes, discuss your preferences and expectations with your chosen cremation provider.

Selecting a trustworthy cremation service like Paws Into Grace and understanding the various options is crucial to ensure you receive your pet’s ashes. Oceans of Love, a partner of Paws into Grace, will help spread the ashes at sea.

  • thank you so much for this article. my dog passed away about 5 years ago and i was feeling very down and crying in thoughts missing her. your words gave me warmth and helped me believe she is in a better place. do you know how long they stick around after death? do they move on after awhile? when is that?

  • To everyone grieving, I lost my best friend yesterday morning. I don’t know if I’ve ever felt such pain in my life. Her passing so unexpectedly just ripped my heart to pieces and it feels like I’ll never get past this dark cloud that’s hanging over me. I never got to say my goodbye to her. Eating, going to work, laughing….none of it interests me although I know I have to continue on. I understand how you feel. You aren’t alone in your grieving. My biggest hope is that we are all reunited with our best friends when we cross to the other side. 🙏🏻💕✌🏻

  • It’s much harder when you loose a pet child I’ve found . When you loose a human family member you get all the support from friends and other family, but when you loose a pet that you love, you are just expected to get over it even though you’re really grieving as if you’ve lost a human family member.

  • When my dog passed (euthanized in my home), she waited until the vet left before her spirit rose from her still body. I saw a silvery outline, ears perked up, eyes bright and a beautiful doggy smile. Then I felt her intense joy. She continued to stay close for 2 years after, wrapping her love over me like a warm blanket.

  • Omg, I am balling right now! I worked in a Vet ER and took care of the paperwork and the body of all the euth. I would talk to all the animals while i transported their bodies to where the vet techs would prep them for the the crematorium to pick them up. I cant count the times i cried over their body’s wishing them peace and happiness.

  • My sweet cat, my angel, passed away in my arms yesterday. She was the most loving, sweetest, most compassionate being I have ever had the opportunity to know. She never once, in the time I had her, scratched or hissed or showed anger at me, even when doing things cats hate, like clipping nails or bathing her here and there. She loved to cuddle me as long as she had access to me I truly believe she was an angel in disguise and I feel like she was my soul mate. Now that is she is gone, I keep looking for signs of her, but I cannot find them. I would do anything for me to hold her and kiss her once again. I miss and love you Kitty-Gol with all of my heart and soul. My life is shattered without you. I don’t know how I can go on. Blessings to everyone who has lost their loved one as well. At this point, we are at least united in our grief. May we all find the strength and resolve to move on in memory of our beautiful animals ❤

  • I lost my dog 2 days ago🥺💔 I’ve shared everything with him.He has been my comfort,my happiness,my whole world. We were so attached that I’d hold him everytime I was upset and everytime I was away he’d fall sick.I did all I could and I never imagined losing him💔I still feel his presence and every time I go sit on his grave I feel his presence.Few hours back I was seated on his grave while my other dog started barking behind me that’s when I slightly saw my dog “Max” who passed away running around wagging his tail but it was blur to me.He’s away yet watches and visits me I miss him every sec💔

  • I lost my soulmate a little less than a year ago. He was and always will be the love of my life . Not a day goes by where my heart just doesn’t break into pieces and I break down crying. He gave me the best 16 1/2 years of my life. Life is unbearable without him and I just don’t know how to carry on. Then I lost my 17 year old Charlie yesterday. I rescued him 4 years ago so i didn’t have him as a puppy but he was such a brave boy and such a wonderful soul. My heart is broken all over again and the pain is so incredibly raw . I know I have to carry on because I have two more boys that I love very much and need to take Care of. I hope there is some way to be sure that I will be with my Duke and Charlie again. I don’t think I could Bear it if I couldn’t see them again. Will they be waiting for me when I pass

  • My 9 year old Chihuahua Chloe was attacked last night and died in my arms. I’m so sad by heart hurts. She was so loving, protective, feisty, loved her snacks, loved playing fetch, car rides and loved going to the park. Can’t stop crying…everything reminds me of her. I can’t believe you are gone baby. I will always love you! Fly high Chloe – Coco 💔🐶 Forever in my heart 💔😢😭

  • I just lost my beautiful Shepherd Joseph, on June 14, 2021… at 11:11am. 😭😭😭 He passed suddenly in my kitchen on the floor in front of my sink. I was holding his face so he knew I was there. I was talking to him the entire time. I didn’t want him to be afraid. I told him how it was that I had found him. I told him how he was the BEST dog I had ever had (I’ve had 7). I told him I would love him for eternity. Then I told him it was ok to go. I called upon my Higher Self and asked for an army of Angels… and my Mom to greet him on the other side…. As I held his head and was looking right at him, the light went out in his eyes, then his head went limp in my hands. What happened next I will never forget. His tail… began wagging like crazy!!! This was a dog that never really was a big tail wagger. (He was so laid back). Anyway, his tail began wagging like crazy!!! Then his back legs moved as if he were walking… then jogging… then full out running!!! He then took 2 more shallow breaths, his heart beat 2 more times… then he was gone. 😭 I thank him for showing me that he had made it. I will forever be grateful. He surely had one foot here and one foot in heaven. I don’t know who he saw, but whoever it was made him SOOO HAPPY 😊. ✨💛💫

  • My Cooper left me 2 days ago, he was 2yrs, 6 months and 4 days old, We have other dogs at home but he was just special, he was my roommate, my son, the one who always made coming home a joy, he would sit and wait for me whenever I’m out and sit still until I’m home no matter how long it takes so he could welcome me with his crazy jumps, always wagging his tails, always ready to put a smile on my face no matter the situation, always full of energy that it was hard to tell he was unwell, took his last breath in my arms at 05:17 PM. Though my heart is terribly heavy right now, I was glad that I got to be his lifetime, and the way he made those 2 years and 6 months a feel like a lifetime to me. I don’t know how I’m going to spend the rest of my days and nights without him. We shared the same bed and he would always sleep right beside me and even wake me up in the morning jumping and licking all over me. I still haven’t slept ever since he left and I’m badly traumatised. I buried him in a place where I could see him through my window. I only wish that one day when my time is over here on Earth and reach out to the afterlife, he would come running at me, if I am given an assurance that this would surely happen, maybe I can calm myself a little knowing that he’s waiting for me in paradise. And that I am never ever getting attached to another pet like this again, Cooper will forever be the love of my life. ❤️‍🩹😩 Cooper, I love you to infinity and beyond ❤️ Rest in peace my beloved Cooper 21/03/2022–25/09/2024.

  • Our sweet baby boy, Wilco was just diagnosed with lymphoma. He is only 6. I’m trying to stay positive but also preparing myself for when he crosses over. Coming to terms with this is devastating. I haven’t really stopped crying for 3 days (in and out). I love him SO much. I feel like nothing prepares you for a diagnosis like this. I know that time is limited and I just have to love him as much as I can while he is still physically with us. I’m glad to know that they are still perusal over us and with us after they leave their physical body. I hope he will visit me often in my dreams.

  • We had the vet come to our home to help our sweet girl cross over. She was very sick with old age and had cancer as well. After she passed all four of us sobbed uncontrollably. I feel bad picturing her looking down at us crying that hard and in obvious pain. I hope she knew how much we loved her. You have heard of a soulmate? She was my animal soulmate through and through….

  • Recently my dog passed when we were sleeping together. My back was against my dogs back and I felt a spiraling vibration at the base of my spine which was near his base of spine. I was very tired and semi sleep because he had been crying all night and we knew he would be passing soon. But right after I felt this vibration, I also felt his breathing become very deep and slow few breaths so I turned to check on him. That was his last few breaths and his heart stopped after that. It was only in hindsight that I realised the meaning of that vibration. I completely believe that there is some connection with the base of the spine when the soul leaves as I experienced it first hand. Thank you for confirming what I thought had happenned. This confirmation cannot be a coincidence and it means a lot to me as proof that my baby boy lives on and that he gave me the gift of an experience where I could be comforted through real physical experience of his passing. He kept crying when I was turned towards him and also my arm was asleep so I had to turn my back on him for a bit to give him some peace. I also felt that he was unable to leave me when I was holding him turned towards him. He needed me to turn away so he could leave. I don’t know why.

  • I lost my dog yesterday, she’s been with me for 11 years and most important years in life. I’ve binged watched all your articles because I am desperate, thank you for being a beautiful person. I don’t know where I am, and I don’t recognize myself in the mirror from this pain and loss of my baby girl. I refuse to use her In past tense.. I can’t even write down our memories.

  • I’m a vet assistant just out of school. I put down a lot of animals in my life. I’m trying to figure out what happens. I just want to share with y’all that a month before I lost a cat I had a dream that she rubbed my ankles and she reached up to give me a kiss. A month later I had to put her down and she was saying goodbye to me. I really believe they have a soul. It’s sucks to put down other people’s pets, while working when we have to go through it is very stressful. I just want to give all y’all HUGS ❤. Maybe that story will help.

  • My lab was 10 and she passed away in sleep day before yesterday.. she was suffering for last 1 week and was in a critical stage. I was totally depressed and your articles have made me realize she is here with us. I am still in grief but a lot better now.. thanks a lot .. most of my questions have been answered through ur articles.

  • Hello everyone, I just want to say to everyone that I know what you are going through. I had to put down my dog Romo yesterday and it was the hardest thing to witness. I never seen anyone or anything die right in front of me before until yesterday. My mother was holding my boy in her arms while my boy was staring at me and my father. When he died i swear time froze for a second and my vision zoomed in on my dog and i witnessed his soul being released from his body and my mother told me she felt his soul leaving his body. We just buried my baby boy in my parents backyard since he lived with my parents for the whole entire 11 years we had him. I think Romo was between 1-3 years old when we rescued him. I think he was most likely 2 years old when we got him. I love him so much and miss him so much already. I gave him a few nick names that I been calling him for years and they are Romsky, buddy, and wolfy and im going to miss saying those names everytime I saw him and he would always have a smile on his face. He was one of the most friendly dogs I have ever met and he would get so happy whenever any person even if he didnt know them would stop and say hello and gave him pets. My boy saved me and made me the man I am today. I have never felt the love from anyone or anything like I received from him. I dont have any friends so when I watched him die it felt like a part of me died. But when i keep talking about it and perusal articles of people talking about how they are dealing with grief it is comforting to me and is helping.

  • My dogs name was Charlie he passed away this morning he was 14 and a half, he always had a smile on his face and I knew the time was right when he came back from his walk we all sat around him cuddling him while he struggled for breath but even through his own struggles he still had the time to smile one last time RIP Charlie❤️❤️😥

  • My Mother and I had to euthanize our cat the same day we found out he had cancer in his mouth. The first vet to see him missed ALL THE SIGNS so we got a second opinion 2 weeks later. My conscience protected me from the pain I was about to go through. I know that because 2 days before it happened I had an overwhelming sense of peace come over me on my drive home from work. There was also a vulcher on my roof the first day I took him to the vet. Which I have never seen before and I have been living in this house since I was 7. Nature gave me this sign I protected myself against. My cat still wanted to he with us but we could tell in his body language and how he slept he was slipping away. After he passed i was walking my daughter home from school when we passed 2 cats on a porch. One was black and white and the other was all black, like mine. The black cat came all the way down the steps and greeted us as we walked by. This has never happened and I haven’t seen the cats since. I like to think it was my boy telling me he is okay. I got him when I was 20 and now I’m 32. He was there for me through all my major life traumas and events. I believe we were meant to be together even if it wasn’t for a long time.

  • My dog drowned in our families pool when no one saw last week. By the time we got to him it was far too late. He was 17 and was blind and deaf and in pain. He always avoided the water and knew where the pool was and never once came close to it. My mom was crying hysterically and is heartbroken and taking it the hardest. I had said goodbye to him a couple months ago because i could tell his health was dwindling and he might go any day. Its not as hard for me because I have a strong connection to spirit and ive already been visited twice by him in my dreams since he passed last Friday. Its just sad and so ironic that he avoided water his whole life and ended up drowning. I grew up with him had him since I was 13 and am 27 now. I never thought id be digging his grave but I did last Saturday. Im just glad I got to say goodbye and let his spirit know how much I loved him before he left. I hope he didnt feel too much pain or even know what was going on when he drowned, or maybe he did it on purpose because he was ready to go and knew that it was a portal to the other side for him, and didnt want any of us to bare the pain of having to put him down or see him die. Pray for my mamas heart she needs it.

  • I lost my sweet girl 3days ago. She was hit by a car. I really loved her and tried to give her best life. She was 14 years old and a sweet little cat. I hope she didn’t hate me to open the door for her to walk outside. I regret it but at the same time, I hope she enjoyed walking and enjoyed chasing after birds or bugs. I adored her, loved her, and she was my everything. I hope we can all reunite with loved one when our life is done.

  • i put my pincher dog to sleep 2 days ago because he couldnt see clearly hear our voice and he didnt walked well so he craped while sitting on his buttoom. he lived with me and my mom for all allmost 20 years. its so hard i cant stop crying im allmost 38 years old he came to my life when i was 19 . its so panfull that hes not around physically. he were such a good dog ! he never bitted nobody in his life. he felt good with us. living inside our house and sleeping mostly with my mom. now hes not here. i watched your articles about communication with our pets on the other side calmed me down alittle. i even putted a crystal stone inside his grave to communicate with him. i just had to share this. thank you vety much danielle . our beloved knutik r.i.p greedings from israel.

  • My dog just passed a few weeks ago, my partner and I are devastated. He had him for 9 years and I helped raise and loved him for 4. He came to me through a medium reading and through the same tarot reading through a card. It was absolutely amazing ❤️. Your words really do help me gain closure as well so thank you for posting!

  • Thank you for the article! I lost my dog 3 years ago and she was my parents dog. I adopted her when my last parent died in 2018. When my dog died, it was so hard. I cried few days. I still think of her. Did I do the right thing? Is she with my parents? I blamed myself. All these feelings I ask and questioned. After she was put down, that same night, I thought I saw her spirit in the kitchen. Only lasted a min or so. I do feel her on and off and including my parents.

  • I lost my sweetboy 3 days ago and the pain that i feel is unbearable. it really breaks my heart into pieces. I can”t accept that he’s gone. He’s my everything. I feel so empty and alone now. I don’t know how and when to stop crying. If my sweetboy Maxi is wacthing me right now, I want to remind him that i miss him so much and love him up to this very moment and continue to love him forever. I wish to see him again.

  • Our dog passed two weeks ago she was nearly 15. I always told her I wasn’t ready for her to go and that I needed her throughout her time with us as the thought of losing her was always so painful when I thought about it. In the last few months I saw her just laying at starIng and walls grumbling, in the last week something felt different I knew I had to tell her she was free and thank her. That night she slept in my daughters room who is 4 which was odd for her and she took bits of her food and left it by her bed, the next day we couldn’t even get her to get up for a walk, the day after that she was gone, we all knew it was time and I thanked her and told her all the things I wanted whilst making sure the last words she heard was that she was a good girl and that we love her. Following that I dreamt of three toy tigers and then kept seeing tigers everywhere that week. My daughter who knew nothing of where our doggies final moments were started placing toy plates and food on the exact spot, she also came and gave me a 5p piece because I felt sad which was odd, then put 5p on the same spot where the dog passed when I asked her why she just said she didn’t know but I’ve kept the coins. A week later I dreamt the dog was biting my hand and was angry but it didn’t hurt and I was just being calm and gentle and telling her it was ok. Last night I dreamt I saw our dog again she felt soft and this time was licking me, then there was a German shepherd dog called Gail. I’ve absolutely not idea why I know of no one called Gail or any German shepherds .

  • My Cat of 18 years is passing away from bladder cancer, he has survived 9 months longer than the vets stated, there was nothing I could do to save his life medically I was told. I grave him meds and now it is at the point I have to have him out to sleep as he strains to urinate but yet now when he sleeps it passes out and he can’t control it. My cat (Romeo) was just like a person to me and was with me all the time he could be when I was at home. I have to put him to sleep tomorrow as I feel there is not other choice without him suffering more than he already might be. This is so hard as he stills eats and purrs and mostly acts like himself. I pray having him put to sleep is the right thing to do and won’t interfere with his soul and spirt leaving him peacefully and that I will see him again someday. I think I will cremate him and I also hope this doesn’t interfere with his soul and spirt and being able to see him up above when I pass. I don’t know how I will get through this as my mind thinks how can I choose to put him down when he means the world to me and I wonder what he will think of it and why I felt I had to have it done. Sorry this was so long.

  • My shih tzu Izzy died yesterday. I grew up with her for 13 years and she was with me through everything. She was my bestfriend. She died in my arms in the car. After thinking about it I am so glad that I was holding her while she crossed over. I have been perusal your articles and they have really eased my mind, so thank you for making these articles❤️

  • I had a 5 months old puppy he died 2 days back😭😢 he didn’t eat for 4 days and when I took him to vet they told he had some gastro problem and 1 day before I contacted my friend vet I came to know he was suffering from parvoviral entritis . I am so sad that I couldn’t look at him properly feel guilty of that😢😭 It was so fast that I can’t still believe he died hope he comes back my sweet Theo

  • I had my two 16 yo English Cocker Spaniels euthanized together at home by the vet and it was the toughest experience of my life .. you say they are with me after the passing and viewing from above? .. for how long? Are they still with me after a few years, or is it just for a while before their Soul’s journey continues elsewhere? I’ve had a couple of dreams with them, independently, most recently a lovely interaction with the one who actually told me he had had enough of this life by going to the far back of the yard and lay in a rainstorm, which was totally unusual. I carried him back inside, but he got out one more time. They were both indoor dogs that didn’t leave my side, definitely not in the rain ..

  • My dog was in so much pain yesterday and the vet said that he would suffer and maybe die if we chose to send him to surgery. We chose to instead help him and put him to sleep and i will never forget that pain ever. I think of him all the time, cant eat or drink still after that and i miss him so much. He lived with us for almost 11 years and he teached me and my family so much about life, our little angel

  • I lost my cat today… She was the only real true friend of mine who I tell everything and not get gudged… I can’t breathe because of crying…. Every single second is hitting hard with her… I you you zazu❤.. I know you are perusal me from above… You will rule my heart forever…. Never let anyone take your place my angel…….. You always loved me… So greatfull to God that you became the part of my life… It’s going to be your birthday after tow month’s…. What do i do now… Who will play with me… Who will i tickle…. Who will skretch my bikes seat… I can’t now… I can’t

  • My cat just died the day before yesterday. She was a big orange cat named Louis. We put her down because she’s been sick a long time and recently had a very hard time breathing. I want to know if she’s happy, and ok. Is she healthy and with our other cats? Does she forgive me for putting her down? I want her to know that I love her, and miss her. I want her to know she’s my very best friend.

  • My dog passed away last night and I feel so low and sad, I’m crying all the time. Before she died, exactly minutes before I was saying to her that she would be alright now, she will be free to run in the park. I said to her how much I love her and each one of my family love her too and I felt that she understood everything I said and then she left me. I would like to know if she is ok and if she felt all the love from me and my family 😞🤍

  • I feel like I missed out so much because of wasting my time playing article games. My dog was my best friend, he was like my shadow following me wherever I went to be by me. I feel like I should have took him in more walks and spend time with him. He was such a wonderful dog. He never got sad and was like my only friend that was there for me. Nobody else could come close to what my dog meant to me. We had him outside for awhile when I was little and now I’m regretting keeping him outside for those years. He had our other dog to play with but I feel like I should have played with him more, he wanted all my attention. Once my other dog died we decided to bring him inside, his name is Jake( he is a springer spaniel) We did this so he wouldn’t be lonely, after some time spent inside we played with him more but it still felt like he was just there for me and I wasn’t for him. I wish I had more time with him now that I think about how he was like my guardian. He was so sweet. He was so happy when I came home all the time from vacations and would sleep with me every night. He didn’t want to be moved out of bed once he got comfortable. After about a half a year we though it would be best to get so company for him. We got another dog, this time he( Oliver) was small. He was a toy poodle( the breed not an actual toy) He was always roughhousing with Jake but Jake didn’t seem interested in that. He would just let Oliver do whatever and would just come to me for attention. If I sat down to play article games he would lay down beside me until I got up.

  • My Little Chihuahua Mojo I lost during dental cleaning. I was so devastated that I prayed and prayed that I would get to see her full-bodied as I was granted My prayer. I list my train of thought. Stopped dead in the living room. Looked behind me at the dog bed where her siblings were and there she was full bodied laying down looking right at me. Her living sister was right behind her. Though it was only for seconds.❤ I believe.

  • My cat who I raised from a kitten, died of Tick fever. So so sick. 4 days ago. I am going through this lousy grief process. I see and feel her everywhere. What an awesome cat she was. My friend, my comforter and my joy. She was only 2 yrs old. I will be so glad when this heartache passes. It is rough. I have another cat that I raised from a kitten. All she has done all day is cry out. I guess we both are going through a rough time. They both followed me everywhere. There will always be a piece missing. And someday there will be 2 and then 3.

  • Thank you for this. I had to set my Kitty free after 15 years and 11 months a month and two days ago. I so hoped that he heard everything I said to him. I wanted to pick him up nd hold him after he passed before the vet left. But I just couldn’t. It was to difficult. I always hope he knows I was there and he knew how much I love him and always will. 💔

  • Back in 1996, my dog died. When I came home, I had to go directly to bed. I was so distraught, unset and I just had to go to sleep because I couldn’t stand to be awake. Just as I was in that twilight area between awake and asleep, I heard my dog, Bruiser come into the bedroom, he was panting just like he just finished running. He sounded very content. I didn’t want to ruin the moment by waking up. I heard him go in circles before he lay down next to my bed. I knew that was his spirit, him, laying down next to me while I was in bed about to fall asleep. That became to most comfortable deepest sleep I ever had.

  • Yesterday I had to have my 17 year old APBT put down and obviously like many others it brought me here out of grief. After viewing this I’d like to say thank you. I believe everything is meant to be and will make many laugh like it did me and help to get through it. The last few days of his life my dog stopped eating, would barely drink water and for 2 days couldn’t even walk. That meant EVERYTHING happened right there where he was laying down at and I was right there with him cleaning it up and telling him it’s ok and just to rest. The time was nearing for the appointment and I just laid down by him. About 10 minutes before leaving I was emotional and at probably the worst time he sh*t again… At the time I felt bad obviously and found some humor in it, but after seeing this I believe it wasn’t a random coincidence but it was that last bit of his soul that was leaving. I guess it’s what he knew I could look back on and laugh at. To those in the future like myself that are brought here and read this, I hope y’all look back on a certain moment like that to help you make it through. We’re all gonna feel pain, sorrow and guilt that we don’t think will ease, but it will. Just remember that no matter how much we COULD have done different, that day would still face us & we knew it from the start. Before we were even born we sat across from them and agreed to it at some point for some reason and hopefully we all take some lesson away from it.

  • I lost my cat 9 hours ago 😔, 11 years 5 months and I feel like I lost another piece of myself.. my partner, my soulmate, my friend and loyal to me. He kept by my keyboard on escalations, working on tech support is an endless hours on cutovers and he was there, with me in calls, playful and cheering me up… I will miss him and I trust I will see him again Thank you Ektor for your love, you showed me a lot and I will miss you forever

  • Thank you so much for making this article. I really needed to hear what was said in this article. My dog passed away this very weekend. He was my Dog from 2012 until 2019, had a really strong and powerfull connection/relationship with him. He truly felt like one of my friends. I was always at home during the day because I had just stopped school and finding a job was hard so for many years I was the one taking mostly care for him. But in 2019 I found a job and he was mostly alone during the day so we had to make a very tough and heartbreaking decision. There was a family with young children they were interested in taking him over. With that family he had at least a great last 4 years, but it broke my heart. I felt I had disappointed him, like I abandoned him. I will never ever forgive myself but I try to keep thinking that he had a great life. He had it good with us and he had a great time at the 2nd family. It was such a weird moment the day after he passed I was in church and they had such an unusual music choice one say they played was ” You’ve got a friend in me” and this moved me so much, immediately my thoughts went to my little friend. I am glad to know, thanks to your article, there is an afterlife for pets as well and I will certainly go and find him when my time has come

  • Ma’am thank you for explaining that energetic push. My husky passed on 3 days ago after a visit to the vet and she was screaming and freaking out as you said during the energy push. I am unable to forget those moments and considered them as painful moments for her to take along as she leaves… your kind explanation has helped much. Thank you once again 🙏🏼 Happiness always..

  • I lost my long haired mastiff, Mya.I’ve been having a hard time, she saved my life quite literally. Emotionally, physically. Got poisoned an accident I think, it was out of no where and so fast. I’m still processing, I’d shave yrs off of my life if it meant I’d see her and be with her just one last time. My condolences to anyone who’s recently lost a fur baby 💔

  • I stumbled across this lovely article and it made me cry. 1 yr ago I lost a beloved small pet who was in acute pain. But as the vet delivered his final injection, nothing. A second dose…nothing. Hours passed, I was distraught and starting to wonder if I did the wrong thing, maybe it wasn’t his time yet. I begged him to let go. I blamed the vet. Finally after THREE doses of lethal medicine…he passed. I was distraught. To this day I wish I could say how sorry I am that his final moments were so aweful. But hearing you describe this process, I wonder if he was just delayed in his release. Thank you Danielle, this helped me greatly❤

  • Hi, Danielle. I know you’re busy with your move and other stuff, but I thought of a few questions for future articles, if you’re interested. I imagine you get a lot of questions, so maybe just throw these into the hat. They all relate to animals in the afterlife. 1. Can pets who’ve died get “stuck” on the Earth plane? People seem to get stuck sometimes. As I’m sure you know, they’re referred to as earth-bound spirits or sometimes ghosts. Can dogs and cats get “stuck” like that, too? 2. Do animals who’ve passed enjoy coming to visit us, or is it kind of a drag for them? I’ve heard that the spirit world is light and free, but this realm is denser/tougher. Does that mean it’s draining for them to visit us? 3. When animals cross over, do they retain their individuality, or to they merge into a “group soul”? I’ve heard different opinions about this and would like to know what you think. 4. Is it possible to communicate too much with pets who’ve crossed over? I talk to my departed dog just about every day. It’s not out of unresolved grief or dependency. I just love her and want to continue the relationship, and I actually think she’s trying to teach me things still … but I wonder sometimes, Am I bugging her? Am I communicating too often? Am I holding her back from doing what she needs to be doing on the other side? Thanks!

  • my dog was 6 months old i loved her so much she was all fine and healthy 3 days ago is stopped eating and she just gone to heaven today morning..no matter how much i cry i am seeing her in every thing…why she is gone so soon it’s so hard…..what do i do .i wanna see her so baad…. 😭😭😭😭😭 she was so cute so naughty never seen such a beautiful dog and soul….

  • I lost my 5month old pup today, she was poisioned by our neighbour and i really wanted to know if she’ll be around me or not and until when, as because i want her to be around me forever and would want her to give me hints about her presence and love. And will she be able to see that i miss her? And if she really wanted to hold on and stay or could’nt?

  • I know..100% positive, that when a pet dies, only the physical body has gone, and the soul of your pets are still around you and the places it knows. Your pet looks no different than it did when in the physical realm…except full of life. You have to remember..the physical body is the temporary one, not the spirit. You will meet again. Love is what draws you back to each other. I have good reason to know they sure survive.

  • My Dasie Baby just passed this morning at 5:20. I’m so glad I was awake with her when she passed. I feel like I could just die today and be fine with it. But it’s too soon for me to pass away myself as I still have others who depend on me and my other family members who also still have some time to go before they too leave. I found this article today wondering if I will get to see her again when I pass. Will she come and get me when I go. Will I get to be with her again in a next life. And seeing this article, I wonder if she will take clients from youtube? I wish I can hug my Dasie one more time.

  • It hasn’t been 24hrs since I had to let go of “Popi”. My lil yorkie turned 15, 2weeks ago and then a week later got sick. He had seizures, pressing his head against things, walking in circles. I hand fed him food and water. But my husband sat me down and gently express to me that that was no longer him, it was time to let go. He laid on my lap, wrapped in his fav blanket, as I talked to him….even when the vet said he was at rest, I was still talking to him. Thank you for allowing me to be in you life “Popi” . I love you always💜

  • My dog died 2 days ago and my family is missing him sm But my grandpa Burned him and made me furious, he died due to loss of blood, I wanna be with him in the after life since my parents, me and him have a special bond and we really can’t accept much he died. We badly miss him and I don’t usually cry when Relatives die But when my dog died I couldn’t stop crying. Last night I dreamed that my mom was driving away from our house and our dog was infront Of the road and my mom was signing “goodbye, I love you” and I somewhat knew what she said even even though I don’t know sign language, the dog still looked healthy and great and made me cry so much when I woke up.

  • The top-down afterlife report from the dog was fascinating. I love that stuff. It reminds me of the OBE reports you get from people who have NDEs, how they report things that they couldn’t have known about (since they were “dead”), and those reports are validated by people who were present. That’s a great piece of evidence, validated by the human being. I hope someday we get to the point where the evidence for survival of animal consciousness is as strong as the evidence for survival of human consciousness. The latter is overwhelming, imo, and anyone who denies it just has their head in the sand. But the evidence for survival of animal consciousness — while it’s certainly there (in NDE reports and evidential medium reports featuring animals) — isn’t nearly as strong and as well-known. Personally, I find the evidence for animal survival very convincing, but I don’t think a lot of people are aware of it. I run across a lot of people who wonder if animals have souls, if so are they inferior to human souls, do they make it into the afterlife, is it the same afterlife as us or a “lower” one, do they get swallowed up in a “group soul,” where their identities disappear, etc. I sometimes get angry at some of the responses I hear. I feel bad for the people who’ve lost pets yet do not have access to evidence on animal survival. They just think their pet is “dead,” and that’s it. It leaves them in a much worse position, emotionally. I don’t even like to use the word “dead.” Anyway, I hope one day we get to the point where evidence for animal survival is as strong and undeniable as it is for humans.

  • Almost two weeks ago 8 yr old male cat got sick & had to be euthanized. This happened all within a week due to kidney failure and non regenerative anemia, he was previously healthy and this came out of nowhere and I’m struggling to understand. I miss him so much 😢 I’ve had one dream about him when he came to me and I asked him how is he doing in the afterlife and he purred, in my dream I could feel him and hear him like it was real. 😢💔😭

  • I lost my best friend and my beautiful baby on Tuesday abruptly. It’s shaken me and I’m so sad and depressed. I miss him so much. It’s hurt me so much. I often feel guilt thinking I wish he was able to know how much I loved him, it’s so horrible the feeling. Today is his funeral and pray he’s at peace and I see him again. I love him so much. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over this.

  • I came here to hear where is my baby now. She died last JUNE 27, 2024 and still i cant move on letting her go because she’s suffering from her tumor cancer.I miss her everyday, it feels like im incomplete without her. Shes with me for 15years and i dont kno how to cope to heal me. I miss how she waited me to come home, how happy she was when she sees me home. I always had pasalubong from fastfood everytime i take my lunch outside and she always go to my bag looking for that pasalubong. I miss kissing her. 😢 Every corner of the house reminds me of her. My twinklebell, i cant imagine doing all stuffs without you, you are my stress reliever, You are the reason why Im always okay even im feeling frustrated. oh i wish i can extend your life just to be with me, Im sorry baby for letting you go. I hope we’ll see each others again, my love. I love you so much more than anything in this world. 😭💔

  • I lost my dog yesterday. As my wife called me when I was at work, I was so broken. After that, I chatted with my colleagues with pain smile as if my dog still at home alive waiting for me. I hoped it was just a dream. After I got home, I knew that was a reality I had to face. At night, I have cried, and my family don’t know that how much pain of losing my dog. This article has at least relieved me a bit. I try to believe that the soul of my dog still around and trying to play with me, even though I can’t see his wagging tail and barking me to play with him. If I could turn back time, I would do the best for him.

  • I had my cat euthanized because that’s what I was taught was the right thing to do but I feel so bad about it. I cried so hard. The vet said it was cancer and he wasn’t eating anymore. This was about 2 weeks ago and I’m still crying off and on. He was my best friend and I really could see just how much he lived in love. He loved life. Especially people and I was his fav person. I always thought I was his mom and that was true but after his death I see just how in tune Edgar was with life and just being. He was a source of great comfort and support for me. And i think of him constantly but your article made me feel better. Thank you<3

  • I once had a cat that died and came back to life 2 weeks after death and lived for several years after coming back from the dead. The cat died early in the morning I placed the cold stiff body on my bed, and left it there until evening to completely make sure he was dead. It was a busy period in my life and so I didn’t have time to dig a grave. I put the cat in the freezer 2 weeks later I dug the grave laid the cat out by the grave and took a break. When I came back to put the cat in his grave he came back to life and lived with me for another 3 years. He was very protective of me and my other cats after coming back from the dead other than that he was completely normal and in good health. This is the only time I witnessed an animal returning from the dead and live a few more normal years. This is the only cat that I had to dig a 2nd grave for, I have seen ghost cats but never before or since a total coming back to life after death.

  • I miss my dog so much we put her down yesterday. She was 17. I almost broke down crying at work today when my coworker who is new asked me how my dog was. They didn’t know, how could they but it still hurt so much. The moment I got home walked inside greeted by the our other dog i broke down. I played with him outside for a bit but I couldn’t for long it’s not fair to him. I refuse to sit in the room where me and my female dog would spend time. Every day before this before she got sick.. I would come home from work take my uniform off and snuggle with her before bringing both dogs out for potty and playtime. I found old articles of her I watched all them I laughed and cried. I miss her so much

  • One of the cats i saved from birth died suddenly i found his body on the middle of the house with blood from his nose. I was in shock. He was healthy no signs of illness. He never liked to be petted but i loved him so much. I did my best to keep him safe from outside world. And he died into the house when i was not there to help him. I am so sad and feel guilty. I dont know if he felt i loved him😢

  • I lost my best friend 10 months ago & I still expect to see her everyday when I come home from work. She was my shadow for 18 years and I don’t remember life without her before as I was so young. I struggle the most with wrapping my head around her simply not existing anymore. How can something that loving and funny just cease to exist? My own only way of coping is refusing to believe that I won’t see her again one day, because I really don’t know what I believe in, but I feel like I know she can’t simply be gone. I really understand everyone here’s grief, it’s something that a lot of people don’t get.

  • Dear Danielle.i want to thank you for the awesome articles u make foe explaining all about how our animals feel. I recently lost my 8 year old boxer and I was devastated and so guilt ridden that it was my fault. But after I watched your articles I understood so much about animals passing abd tge life there share with us. It has given me so much peace. Thanks a lot. And God bless you for the work you are doing.

  • It’s been a couple of hours since my dog died and it’s so hard to let go. I have no energy to do anything. I’m trying to get the kids and I to go out… Even for a drive just to get some air but nobody wants to do anything. His death has weighed so heavily on our hearts. We had him for a beautiful six months and I can still hear him… See him in the shadows. I know time will make it better but I just needed to write this and share it with someone with the hope of feeling better. He was a remarkable soul❤

  • My Cat did not get to decide when to leave. My cat Poppa was mauled to death in our garage yesterday by a Pit Bull from the next block over that sought him out. This occurred right when I went in the house to take a shower. Poppa was not just a Cat but he was a son to me. I rushed him into the house and up to my bedroom so he could pass where I sleep.

  • My cat died today complete her 618 days on earth. I really happy to have her as path of my family. It was an accident the ladder felt on her and she having head dammage and blood loss. I rush to the vet to give her the chance. Maybe she decided it’s time to move on. My mother and father really had bad time today as their discovered her injuries. I hope whatever you are Bê knowing that we love you so much and though it take time for us to really move on from griefing. I hope you find peace and a good next life. Thank you for being our pet.

  • I found a Dog 7 years ago. She was hanging out in our neighborhood for a couple months before anyone realized she was a stray. I’m thinking she was dumped but can’t figure out why. Her expensive leather collar was left on. We took her to all the shelters, she wasn’t chipped or spayed. Her approximate age was 4-6 years. I’ve had her 6 years now and the thought of her dying is more than I can handle. I’ve had many pets in my life. None have been as smart and loyal and cute. We’ve ran every possible scenario in our heads about where Chloe came from. Chloe has a homemade cropped tail, was potty trained, didn’t know how to play with toys, didn’t do tricks but caught on fast, I can walk her through a city off leash without anyone noticing. Chloe is afraid of brooms, mops, vacuums, cloths that clean floors. Chloe is the most amazingly smart dog I’ve ever seen. I feel cheated that I’m only going to have her for half her life. We so badly need to know where she came from and what her life was like before we took her in💔

  • My golden passed this morning. I had very vivid dreams of him reaching out into another realm or dimension last night. My family is struggling, but I have this intense comfort that he was released from his pain. My dream showed him excited to go somewhere else and that’s a comfort to me. He may have died in this life… but I really believe his soul is happy and somewhere else. Can’t explain it more than that. Just a feeling.

  • Hello, I have a question related to this topic. What about the existence of an animal soul after his body underwent cremation? Does it still exist and where and how is it going? I am really struggling right know with fear and anxiety that his soul does not exist anymore. I am not a Christian, but for my beloved dear one I could do anything and really did not intended to do this thing. In my family every animal was cremated and I accepted. But now I am really hopeless.

  • Thank you so much for your explanation. My darling Luna (Cairn Terrier 16 yrs and 3 months was being euthanized and started to scream and struggle, even trying to run with all four legs, while in my arms. I had not expected this and was very shocked. I had wanted a calm and peaceful leaving for her.. Now I know what it actually was. It was no stress (which the vet told me it was, and which made me so sad), no pain. It was the process I learned about from you today. The miracle in this all is that she’s taken my illness with her. That is what I understood immediately. And now I know that she really did. ❤

  • My 9 year old yellow lab passed a week ago due to cancer. Mornings are really hard for me, since he was always the first one I saw. The backyard brings so much sadness and little bing memories at the same time. A few days after his passing, I was greeted in the morning with a double rainbow 🌈 in my backward. 💙🦮

  • My 15 year old baby girl Mia just passed this morning. I’m so beyond devastated I don’t know what to do. It was unexpected and I’m shocked. She was fine, had complete good bill of health. She was adopted by me at 9 years old, I had her for 6 years and my life before her seems muted. She was my baby. I’m so sick with grief. I’d give up anything I own to have her back

  • I really thought i needed this, when my baby died.. BUT, this lady has lost her humanity, her empathy, i found the description of how the soul leaves so traumatising and THOUGHTLESS on her part, it should never have been mentioned, should never have been told, its not necessary for us to know that. The more of her articles i watched, the more i realised that she’s overtaken by her ego, and has forgotten any semblance of kindness. I cant imagine that an animal soul, could be as emotionless and careless of the people who loved them so much, as she loves to describe. This ladies heart is rotten, hollow and cruel. Listening to her wont make you feel better, it will break your heart even more. Beware.

  • I lost my baby almost 8 years ago…. And i still cry every time i think of her…. I wasn’t there when she got put down.. long story… didn’t even know she was being put down 😭 but the day she did i felt something telling me to say goodbye… it was her…. 😭 i didn’t think she was dead but i felt her telling me to say goodbye.. and i did but i didn’t take it that seriously cuz i thought i was going to see her the following week but the feeling was so strong i said goodbye and that i loved her sooo much but i would see her soon.. little did i know 😭😭😭 So i 100% believe in the afterlife cuz i will never forget that moment 😭💔

  • That has to be the best explanation I have heard yet. Everyone else just says —> “Well I am an animal medium and XYZ is what I do.” That leaves me cold. I mean I can paint a big S on my shirt and go around telling everyone I am Superman…. but that doesn’t make me Superman. All this stuff is hard to go through or even understand. So many “experts” claiming this or that about pets and pet afterlife. It’s hard to know whom to believe. I have watched alot of your content…. you seem genuine…. so thank you.

  • I lost my girl cat almost 1 yr ago. ( jan 30) she passed of kidney failure @ age 12. Since i didnt have kids, she was it, my baby. I git her at 4 weeks old, and had her ever since ❤ her passing has been extremely hard on me, to say the least. I need to know she crossed peacefully, and if she knows i loved her so much. I still cry daily, and have about 1 breakdown a month, crying hard, trying to convince myself shes in a better place. My heart is shattered and i feel so empty and alone. She was my best friend, soulmate etc. 😢😢😢😢she was there with me through my whole life. ❤ to say i miss her, is a huge understatement. Id give anything to see her again💔💔

  • My cat who I had since she was a kitten for 19 years passed away today. Never had any health problems. She was beautiful & has won many photo contests from national brands. None of my relatives are supportive at all. They treats me like I am weird or stupid for loving cats. I think if they cared about her too, she could have lived much longer.

  • My cat died a week ago, of old age and other issues, he was 15 years old. His name was Milo. He had some medical issues. One day he stopped eating and eventually he had trouble walking and moving. It was painful for him. My family took him to the vet and the vet said his body was shutting down and didn’t have long left. He gave us two options, too put him down at the vet or give him pain meds and take him home. We choose to take him home with the medication. So he got to be with us in his final moments without being left in pain and suffering. We then barred him in a box in the back yard. So the last few days I’ve noticed that my other cat, we have just one cat now, has been acting weird. We also hear scratching and meowing that sounds just like Milo. Our other cat has a different meow sound and there has been times where our cat would be around us and not meow but we still heard meowing. So we think that his soul is still here with us. I am wondering if my cat doesn’t know that he has passed and hasn’t found peace yet. I also think he wants attention or something. Its sad and great at the same time. My question is if a animal, just like some people, are not aware that it has died? Is that possible for this to happen with pets and that he is wanting attention like he did when he was alive? Like petting etc.

  • My dog died 1st October this year tragic accident he loved my dad and was just playing and followed my dad out for a smoke my dad coming bk in fell and my dog was behind him and his head got badly hurt it was horrific he pood on me as I picked him up and waited for help next mornin had to put him asleep so sonsad we miss him love him so much the house ain’t the same without him. I feel he is here doh even doh I can’t see him

  • im so glad i crossed paths with your website. i had to put my cat Mischief down last night and it was very unexpected. she was barely a year old. What made it even harder to bear is there was a snowstorm outside so when i finally left the vet and that cold chaos hit me i just felt very lost. all night i kept having visions of Mischief lost in the storm crying out for me still unaware that she had passed to the other side, but i hope thats just me projecting my feelings

  • We put our Lhasa Apso, Wicky, to sleep last Thursday. My wife and I have been in tears everyday, wondering if we made the right choice or was it too soon. She had Cushings disease and was deteriorating but seemed happy. We didn’t want her to suffer anymore as she slept a lot, tummy was getting big and bowing her back. She panted all the time and always needed to drink then pee. Did we interfere with the separation process by putting her to sleep? We miss our little girl…

  • We had to say goodbye last night to our beloved bassett hound Allman. He was gonna be 3 next month. He has suffered from seizures for a while, and they progressively got worse, where meds no longer worked. He passed away with our family loving on him and telling him how much he has meant to me, to us. He was my boy. I’m gonna make it, but the hurt is gonna always be here. RIP Allman. You were a great pup.😢❤❤

  • My lost friend’s name was Nemo, he passed away 5 hours ago, this doggie had been my friend for almost my whole life. (he was almost 18) I want to believe that he’s in a good place now. I don’t seem to get over it, and I don’t think I will ever be totally okay, every death of my loved ones takes away a part of my soul or at least it feels like that.

  • We had to lay our “first baby” to rest 2 days ago. He was 13, a Shih Tzu named Jack and he was my shadow. He was terminally ill, wouldn’t be getting better and though I wasn’t ready, I didn’t want to see him get more pitiful, sick or be in pain. Whatever room in the house I was in, he was there at my feet. If I was on the bed, that’s where he wanted to be. If I was on the couch, that’s where he wanted to be. He loved us all, but his mama (me), I was his #1. He didn’t resist at all, as I held him in my arms through the process of the vet helping us allow him to pass. My heart just hurts so bad and I miss him so much. It’s funny what you said about the spirit passing through the “bum”. As I held him while he passed, which was completely peaceful, I clearly noticed the lower half of his body get extremely warm. I thought he could have wet himself, knowing that’s possible as they pass, but that wasn’t it. It was just an intense surge of heat through his lower half and seeing this article, I get why now. I continue to hold him until I couldn’t feel that extreme warmth any longer. It’s comforting that I’ve found this article and you actually describe the soul exiting “the bum”. Wow! Thanks for what you do 💕

  • My beautiful childhood dog this day 11 years ago we had to make the painful decision to put her to sleep but we took great comfort still having her son with us today 11 years later we had to put her Son to sleep he was my baby brother my best friend he was so handsome this article gives me great comfort as what you said in this article I can really relate too as I held onto him until he was gone. Thank you ❤️

  • Let the immense, indescribable pain you feel right now serve as a beacon which can truly underscore the sheer, unconditional, ‘soul-deep’ love you have for your furry family member. Feeling this pain; on such a level, should also serve as a reminder to you that you did an outstanding job. You truly loved and adored your best friend more than any words could ever articulate. Your deeply special connection and bond will never….. ever be lost, or broken.

  • It makes all sense what you said. My beloved cat Archie passed away a week ago, my heart is in pieces . I swear before he died he came back home, my other cat was soo scared looking in directiom where his room was.. and I could feel his spirit . When he passed away I went back to see his body and his tail was raised and curled at the end( I now my cat he used to do it when he was happy) . Other night I was sleeping and I woke up and when I open my eyes I swear I saw shadow of his head with ears on the ceiling . It was cancer, we tried so hard to save him . Even vet said they never seen situation like this, one day his blood test was ok and few days later the cancer was in all organs . To me it looked like he was in rush to go on the other side, I’m waiting for him to come back to me because I believe he will reincarnate ❤

  • My cat died Thanksgiving night a few nights ago and I’m in so much pain missing him, and replaying his passing and last moments. The grief is too much I can’t eat, sleep or stop crying. Even though I have helped spirits cross over for decades, this was very traumatic because it was sudden and he was suffering and I had not expected to have to make this choice of euthanasia in that rushed moment. I’m very grateful to have found your website
