Yin and Yang are two key elements in astrology, representing the receptive, intuitive, and introspective aspects of the zodiac. Yin is associated with qualities such as nurturing, intuition, and introspection, while Yang is active and assertive. The Moon (Yin) governs emotions, intuition, and the subconscious, while the Sun represents the ego, life energy, and conscious self.
Yin and Yang are often seen as passive, receptive, and feminine, with qualities like coolness, darkness, and stillness. They create balance by balancing the way thoughts/willpower create and the way love pulls things together in contact. Polarity is another way astrology breaks down the energies of the zodiac, with active signs focusing on actions and thoughts, and receptive signs focusing on the internal world of emotions and sensory experiences.
Yin is the dark half of the yin and yang symbol, representing the shady place and being cold, wet, yielding, passive, slow, and feminine. It is also associated with qualities like wisdom, imagination, peacefulness, relaxation, satisfaction, persistence, introversion, and others.
The yin and yang dynamic between polarity signs, such as the Aries-Libra polarity, is discussed in this text. Negative polarity signs, such as Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, and Scorpio, are the six even-numbered signs of the zodiac. Yin represents feminine, receptive, and nurturing qualities, while Yang symbolizes masculine, active, and assertive traits.
In summary, Yin and Yang are essential elements in astrology, representing the receptive, intuitive, and introspective aspects of the zodiac.

Here is a simple explanation of each modality in less than 10 minutes in a slideshow format! ☀️❄️ “We are born at a given …
What does it mean to be yin receptive?
The concept of yin and yang, a Chinese philosophy, suggests that there are opposing but interconnected forces that interact to affect people’s lives and health. Yin, characterized as negative, passive, and feminine, represents the energy of the Earth and moon, while Yang, positive, active, and masculine, represents the energy of the sun. This duality is important in Chinese culture, science, medicine, and spirituality.
Understanding the concept of yin and yang can help individuals find peace, connection, and equilibrium in their own lives. These forces are complementary and present in all phenomena, with one force being more dominant in some situations. This balance may shift depending on the situation at hand.
Is yin positive or negative?
Yin and Yang, a symbol of Taoism, is a Chinese philosophy and religion that represents the balance and wholeness of opposites in the natural world. The symbol, also known as Taijitu, represents the dark side of Taijitu, which is associated with negative and sad things, and the light side, which is associated with positive and happy things. Both Yin and Yang cannot coexist without each other, as they are interdependent and form wholeness.
The meaning behind Yin and Yang is relevant to Eyeko, a brand that aims to transform your look throughout the day with their newest launch on Monday 18th May. With a single swipe, you can take your look from day to night, transforming your look from day to night. Stay tuned on Eyeko’s social channels to see what it could be.
What does yin mean in astrology?
Yin and Yang are two complementary forces in Eastern thought, representing earth, femaleness, darkness, passivity, and absorption. They are represented by the tiger, orange, and a broken line, while Yang is seen as heaven, maleness, light, activity, and penetration. Both are believed to proceed from the Great Ultimate (taiji), and their interplay describes the universe’s process. In harmony, they are depicted as the light and dark halves of a circle.
The concept of yinyang is associated with the Five Phases (wuxing) in Chinese thought, which contribute to the belief in a cyclical theory of becoming and dissolution and the interdependence between nature and human events. The origins of the yinyang idea are obscure but ancient, with its foundation in the 3rd century BCE in China, which formed the basis of the Yinyang school. The significance of yinyang has permeated Chinese thought, influencing astrology, divination, medicine, art, and government.
In Japan, the concept of in-yō entered early times, with a government bureau established in 675 CE to advise the government on divination and calendar control according to in-yō principles. In-yō notions permeated Japanese society and persist even into modern times, as seen in the belief in lucky and unlucky days and directions, as well as the consideration of zodiac signs in marriage arrangements.
What does it mean to be receptive in polarity?
Negative energy is less proactive and more relational, receptive, and reactive to life’s events. It may prioritize intrinsic values like interpersonal matters and be sensitive to the energies of others. Positive signs may be able to process emotional experiences more quickly, while negative signs may struggle to let go. To find the dominant polarity in your zodiac sign, add up the planets in earth and water signs and those in fire and air signs. The dominant polarity is likely the one that’s most concentrated in your overall personality.
Positive signs may need more time to process emotional experiences, especially if you’ve been hurt. To find your zodiac sign’s polarity, look to your sun sign, but consider adding up planets in earth and water signs and fire and air signs.
What is a Yin female personality?
The Yin principle, or the black swirl, is typically associated with feminine energy, which is considered to be more calm, passive, and quiet.
Is yin a female or Yang?
Traditional Chinese medicine posits that all things have yin and yang qualities, with yin being feminine and yang being masculine. Yin problems are internal and involve deficiency, while yang problems are external and involve excess. There is no absolute yin or yang, but each is relative to the other. The yin-yang symbol shows that there is always a seed of yin within yang, and vice versa. This concept suggests that all males have some feminine aspects and all females have some masculine aspects.
In the 1970s, University of Massachusetts biologist Lynn Margulis explained the process of endosymbiosis, where mitochondria evolved from bacteria and became incorporated into anaerobic bacteria 1. 5 billion years ago. Mitochondria are the key source of energy in our bodies, where oxidative phosphorylation takes place in electron transport chains. Human mitochondrial DNA is single-stranded and arranged in a ring, similar to bacteria.
What are the characteristics of a yin person?
The Tao Te Ching teaches that the Yang represents the dark, while the Yin represents the light. The Yin is feminine, passive, receptive, and sensitive, while the Yang is masculine, active, producing, and rational. Horses, when expressing the Yang, live primarily in the Yin. To effectively relate with the Yin, we must be assertive, nurturing, dominant, flexible, intuitive, and direct. By connecting with our Mare Wisdom and Stallion Strength, we can create positive change in ourselves and the world around us.
Horses express the Yang, but live primarily in the Yin. By learning to live in the present, connect with intuition, nurture relationships, be receptive and cooperative, and bring swift communication and leadership when needed, we can learn to live in the present and connect with the Yin.
Is Yin-Yang good luck?
The yin/yang symbol is not a talisman of luck or protection; rather, it represents balance. However, many people wear it as a talisman of luck, as the power it possesses is believed to increase with practice.
Does polarity mean positive or negative?
Electromagnetic fields are created by the movement of particles carrying electric charge, known as charge carriers, such as electrons. When a constant voltage, or electric potential, is applied between two objects or poles, one may have more electrons than the other, resulting in a negative polarity. When connected by a conductive path, electrons flow from the negative pole to the positive pole, creating an electric current. The theoretical direction of current flow is typically from a positive charge to a negative charge, opposite to the electron flow.
In an electromagnet, the charge carriers are electrons. When a direct current (DC) voltage is run through an electromagnet, electrons flow in the opposite direction, creating a magnetic field with north and south poles. A simple way to create an electromagnet is by wrapping a single coil of wire around a core, connected to the negative and positive terminals of a battery. The direction of the current determines the polarity of the electromagnetic field, with the charge traveling towards the negative terminal, the north pole of the magnet.
Which is better, yin or Yang?
The practice of yin yoga and yang yoga are distinct, with neither being better than the other. Modern life often leads to a balance between the two, and it is crucial to understand that a balance of both is necessary for maintaining wellbeing. Most yoga classes in today’s community are of yang nature, emphasizing muscle lengthening, strengthening, and flexibility. These classes challenge the body and endurance, providing physical satisfaction and promoting movement, sweating, and meeting challenges.
However, these classes can sometimes overlook the central point of yoga: being present in the body and connected with the breath. This can lead to a missed opportunity to find acceptance in stillness and balance with rest. Therefore, it is essential to focus on both types of yoga to maintain optimal health and wellbeing.
Is Yin Yang a bad thing?
The yin and yang symbol represents the philosophy of life, which is non-dualistic, meaning there is balance in everything. It symbolizes the idea that there is everything and nothing, fullness in the emptiness, sadness in the happiness, and everything in life has a purpose. This philosophy is often sought after by addicts and alcoholics in recovery.
Group therapy sessions can help individuals learn from problematic thought patterns like black and white thinking, which can lead to issues in other areas of life during recovery. Confronting catastrophic, divided thinking is a journey many in recovery take. By examining addiction through this lens, we can learn from the yin yang philosophy and incorporate it into our recovery process.
Addiction has a payoff beyond the chemical production of pleasure in our brains. For many, addiction was a means of survival, as it changed the operations of the midbrain, which is responsible for survival operations like eating. Many people who become chemically dependent on drugs and alcohol experienced trauma in their lifetime, and addiction provided relief from that trauma.
As someone hits their “bottom” in addiction, they may feel like they are in one of the worst times of their life. However, there is good in the bad, and this bottom is necessary for recovery. Recovery is good, but it still happens to those who have experienced a tremendous amount of bad in their life. Ongoing experiences of both good and bad prepare us for the comprehensive whole of our lives, the wholeness we have been given only through sobriety.
📹 Zodiac Sign Meanings Part 1: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo
A detailed overview of the meanings of the first six signs of the zodiac in astrology: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and Virgo.
These are the best zodiac sign articles there is on youtube, i love how the three of you work together, such great combined energy. Having a natal retrograde mercury, i find it hard for things to sink in straight away, i feel like my minds a sieve at times, i have to go over and over things repeatedly, but these articles have helped me more than any zodiac sign books i’ve read.
I very much appreciate Chris’s use and overall balancing energy of the word “sure”, Austin’s passive aggressive jokes on bs modern takes and poetic wording and Kelly’s adorable laugh and overall light and ability to make closing statements. Really great energy coming from all three and collabs beautifully!! So grateful for y’all and this website <3
The thoughts on Cancer are really interesting, and I like how one of them mentions that crabs will move in a zig zag or indirect route to get where it’s going and I thought about water and how it doesn’t always move in a straight line but it always takes the path of last resistance. It shows us that these aren’t always the same thing, many times a straight line is the path of most resistance, and much of eastern philosophy centers on this idea. If a straight line is through a brick wall, Aries will go straight through it, but Cancer wil flow around it, and encompass it, and have conserved all of its energy in the process.
Geminis see duality (as opposed to Libras who see balance). We see the male and female aspects of things, which is why we can come across as duplicitous. This male-female duality is the source of the androgynous quality of Gemini (in addition to the androgynous quality of Mercury). Prince, for example, was a Gemini with Scorpio rising, and he said on Oprah once that he had two people inside of him- one male and one female. To me that is the essence of Gemini- this awareness of both sides of the coin at all times.
I love listening to podcasts of astrology to gain a deeper understanding of the signs, and to spread the more in depth information towards the signs to my friends. I also am using this to analyze my own placements in my chart to really understand what they mean. I’m thinking of becoming an astrologist, but I’m not 100% sure.
This was a BRILLIANTLY beautiful lesson. I’ve been listening to The Astrology Podcast for a bit now and recently decided to go through and make a list of all of the lecture/educational episodes to take in as a semi-school type vibe (♍︎ stellium here😉). I absolutely love the three of you teaching together in this way! It was so fantastically comprehensive. Thank you all for your massive contributions to the Astro world!!!!
The segment about Leo was so accurate – to add to what you said, Madonna a person with Sun and Venus in Leo wrote the song “Spotlight” where she sings “everybody is a star, everyone is special in their own way…” which are almost the exact words you used for Leo! And many of her songs have this theme of how we are all special and how to shine… Also, Austin, thanks so much for putting in question the constant use of gender words to describe planets and signs in astrology – so refreshing and I think we should all start using the words Ying and Yang rather than feminine and masculine to take the emphasis off physical gender… language is so important to thinking!
… always had difficulties connecting with fairly good portion of the first half Zodiac signs… and listening to your descriptions, clarifications, and explanations inspired me to truly Love and Appreciate each and every one of those signs, both as separately unique tendencies and as beautifully interlocking key-points of a larger unfolding sequence… 💜💜💜
Stages of Life: ARIES (the infant) TAURUS (the baby) GEMINI (the child) CANCER (the adolescent) LEO (the teenager) VIRGO (the adult) LIBRA (marriage/union with another) SCORPIO (sex/regeneration) SAG (understanding/wisdom) CAPRICORN (reputation/public life) AQUARIUS (knowledge/uniqueness) PISCES (faith/relationship with God)
This was awesome. Can’t wait for the second half. Thanks for putting all of this together Chris. And thanks to Austin and Kelly as well. One suggestion: what are your thoughts on all of you doing an episode (or series) on the planets through the signs? And/or planets through the houses? Or signs through the houses. Would love to get all of your opinions on different placements; that would produce fascinating perspectives. Thanks again for all that you do!
I had my first cancerian figure experience via my uncle who was a sun in cancer, he was very wounded in early life but possessed extremely caring qualities he would buy me multiples of one gift or treat. He lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his sister…and he kept looking for motherly figures so he ended up marrying someone much much older than him who was an alcoholic and absent mother to her own children. Ironically they had two kids one was a cancer boy. My uncle asked us to bury him In his mothers /my grandmothers grave if he died. He married his 2nd wife and at some point they had an argument where she mocked him for saying he’d kill himself. That night he ended up shooting himself in the heart…and we had my grandmothers grave opened up and buried him there. After that we all felt a sort of peace like he finally was where he needed to be, with his mother. He was only 33. I also noticed many sun in cancers kill themselves, Robin William and Anthony Bourdain are some examples. It always comes as a shock because they are so nurturing.
Came across this website just by chance and absolutely love it! I have learned so much from you guys. It has helped me to understand my friends on so many different levels, that when they come to me with situations or dilemmas it gives me good ground to really help listen and help them sort it out. Learning rising signs also is a game changer too, I have finally realized why my husband is so quirky, but also why we work so well together and as a libra I adore him. Thank you lovely people for your podcast, I love love love it.💕💕💕
Could you please do an equivalent show on the house meanings? There’s so much variation in the meanings ascribed by different people. I listened to your 2014 podcast on the topic but you didn’t run through all the specific meanings you find useful in that, or ones that you’ve come across empirically. It was mainly about the fact that there isn’t a consistently good system or conceptual foundation for any of them, which left me wondering. Thanks for the great work.
Mars in Aries here, love the explanation of Aries. I love Aries ppl! Update: Omg the fighting story about being in the pocket that’s so true. I’m also a Scorpio rising, mercury in Scorpio. And growing up in the inner city unfortunately fighting was normalized. Get down or lay down was the motto. 😅 sad but real. ❤
8H saturn in cancer + 7H gemini moon I rely on the changeability, lightness /superficiality and childlike humor of Gemini to counteract the black hole emotional terror of this Saturn. Thankfully Jupiter in Pisces can soften the fear with faith, and planets in Virgo motivate this energy into creating something precise and useful – extracting the essential meaning (sag rising), refining into a physical object (art) mercury in libra I always come back to these talks to refresh and retain the symbolism, I love them so much 🖤 Each time there is more to absorb and assimilate, amazing thank you.
I’m in shock! I don’t see Taurus as selfish and snobish at all…this is so cliche. The closest people of my life have several Taurus placements. They are extremely giving and nurturing (Taurus is the exaltation of the Moon!) and very down to earth. Refinement and good taste shouldn’t be confused with a snobbish attitude. But some people just don’t appreciate these qualities, depending on their own charts and preferences. Bad qualities would be: strong tendency towards inertia and stagnation…and also, despite being consistent on what they like doing, they don’t have discipline on doing things that might be important for them, but that they don’t enjoy doing. They only do what they want.
2:10:13 – You’re searching for a word. The word is “true”. Like when you read a map. You’ll orient the map and align yourself, so that North on the map is facing North in real life. Then you can see, going forward on the map is going forward in real life. This is called “truing” a map. When the map is aligned with where you want to be, or you are aligned with the direction that you seek… that is being “true”. This is a fascinating article, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I am brand new to the field of astrology, and I am very curious to learn how zodiacs, and palm reading, and tea leaves, and chakras, and herbology works. This is a beautiful crash course of what each of the signs mean. I’ve learned a lot.
I just started following your website… I’ve been trying to study astrology more because I’m very fascinated… I’ve learned so much in the last couple of years, but still confused in many areas… perusal your podcasts totally flipped my switch and I have such a deeper understanding of it all… it’s like someone turned on the light and the puzzle was all put together….. 🙏❤️
Wholeness! Excellent article! I explain the signs with the seasons as well, but only as it pertains to the modalities and elements, and also to bring something that most people can relate to. Gemini (Mutable, Mercury, Education) is when school is let out in the Northern Hemisphere, and there is graduation (adaptation to life outside of high school… working/college/trade school/etc.) for the seniors, and then in Virgo (Mutable, Mercury, New Technique/Grade) those who didn’t graduate go back to school, transitioning from playful Leo summertime. One should use the correlation as a tool for comprehension and understanding, but that only. In the Southern Hemisphere, everything is in “reverse”, and this is where it can be confusing with the seasons, but in Spring, the beginning of Spring rather, the plant begins to uncoil out of the seed, trees begin to bud, ants begin to come out of the ground at 15 degrees Celsius or 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and all of these are representing Aries energy. With Spring beginning in Libra in the Southern Hemisphere, the shift still happens with Aries energy present as it is the polarity of Libra. I like how Austin mentioned it “begins” or “initiates” a season. It is a turning point. Love the articles!
One thing that I’ve noticed in people with heavy Aries influence is a “me, me, me” quality. Sometimes they don’t seem to see beyond their own reality. This may be a link to their modern association with the first house. And this is in opposition to a typical Libra, who may be too much into other people’s opinions.
Chris, this was amazing btw! And I’m so glad you brought up the “corrective element” as you move from one sign to the next. I think about this All the Time!!! I think there’s definitely something there that is intentional and as I’ve spent time with the progression between signs, I think it also boils down into how masculine completes/corrects feminine AND feminine completes/corrects masculine. The two are woven together in the cycle itself where the Universe is “setting us up for success” so to speak like it’s giving us the best possible chance for remaining balanced within ourselves as we make our laps around the Sun. Depending on each individual’s mutability, we truly can bring to life each part of ourselves as the Sun moves through each sign. The masculine and the feminine and how we must balance both within ourselves to find true “Health” is soooooooo fascinating and I feel like the Sun’s course is naturally breeding balance aka Health. Thank you thank you thank you for your website and your work and the literal ABUNDANCE of free High Quality content you have provided here. I feel like discovering your website is literally hitting the jackpot. So, I guess what I’m getting at is You Are A Jackpot. Much Love! ~Carly PS – to your question about “Who are the front-Virgo’s when they’re not in the supportive role?” Have you ever heard of Bo Burnham (comedian/sketch comic)? He’s a comedian with a Virgo Moon, Midheaven, and Mercury all within a few degrees of each other. He also happens to have a Leo South Node which I’m sure pushes him more to the stage but his comedy is so detailed and intelligent.
The cycles of the Sun and the planets around the Zodiac are spiral, not circular. The polarities, the modalities and the elements all form waves of varying widths and no doubt the qualities of each sign could be visualised in a variety of ways that show the dynamic nature. Lovely content, thank you x
Thank you Kelly, Austin and Chris🙌🌟💎! I am so happy and thankful to all of you! Great analysis and so beautiful to see you together, great chemistry! I also have three planets in the three water signs. It feels wonderful even they consider mars in cancer to be bad placed. I love to write and I do feel how all that heavy martian battles are now my lava sculptures in the bottom of my inner ocean. I am sweaming and feeling, remembering crazy old times. That energy becomes poems and pictures in this life and is my healing.
Sun in Leo, moon in Aries, rising in Taurus, Venus Mercury and Mars in Virgo…When he said his wife has to improve take out food, I broke out in laughter at myself, not his wife…My biggest flaw is taking my Leo generosity and amplifying it with my Virgo need to help others…Thank God my Taurus, helps my finances stay somewhat in check… Thank you for such in depth information…Happy 2022…❤
Love your show! Was just perusal the Leo segment, and thought it was interesting that you all mentioned the sun’s association with the right eye and the moon with the left. In Hatha Yoga, the right side of the body is the masculine side, and the left side is the feminine side. Also interesting that the right side of the brain (the emotional/feminine side) controls the left side of the body; and the left side of the brain (the logical/masculine side) controls the right side of the body. And I think it “crosses wires” at the ocular nerve. Love your show – I’m learning a lot!
Wonderful episode! You’ve covered a lot of material. However, I can see that you didn’t cover an important spiritual dimension of the zodiac which goes back to its earliest origins. Just like the planets, the signs were not initially defined as abstract concepts but as “the gods standing on the path of the moon, (the gods) through whose sectors the moon passes every month and whom he touches” (source: the Mul Apin tablet). Later on, the zodiac shifted to the path of the Sun (the ecliptic), but it was still seen as passing through different deities. Those deities are described in the Myths of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, and some of them made their way into Greek mythology. I would argue that, if you don’t mention the Gods and Goddesses that each zodiacal sign is referring to, then you’re missing a key dimension of the archetype. I would go even further and suggest that considering the Polarities, Modalities, Elements and Rulerships while omitting the Myths is actually a form of reductionism, as each Sign is simply correlated to a combination of those concepts. As an example, describing Gemini without ever mentioning the story of the two brothers Castor and Pollux is like presenting Barack Obama without mentioning that he was the President of the US during 2 terms! 😉 To put it another way, the Signs are much more complex than the Planetary Rulers/Elements/Modalities/Polarities just like a Story is much more than a Casting of actors standing on a stage. And, even if you are not using a star-based or sidereal zodiac, the spring of meaning for those signs is in the myths associated with those constellations.
This is a great discussion of the signs. I’ve been trying to get astrology for decades and this is helping me more than anything I’ve seen to really understand and pull this together. The emphasis on how the elements, modalities and polarities work along with examples is super helpful. Thanks for this!
Virgo Sun, Cancer Moon, Sag rising w/ Stellium in Leo in the 9th w/ Venus, Mercury, Jupiter (+Chiron); going for a doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine… want to help others heal in both a very detailed and expansive way hehe. I geek out because astrology has endless crossover with Daoism and 5 phase theory. This was wonderful, thanks!
Can you possibly do a series where you go over all the signs/house/planets combination? I know that’s a lot to ask, but even just do a partial one will help us a lot. So for example, can you do a article on Gemini in Venus in all 12 houses? And maybe do another article on Scorpio in Saturn in all 12 houses?
One thing that you may find interesting, is that the seasons, don’t exactly begin and end where most would think them to. It is my personal belief, that we shouldn’t just look to any one particular culture or area, to find how the ancients thought of things. Sure, if we want to go to the roots of Astrology itself, we would most likely have to go to Mesopotamia, for that is where the birth of Astrology happened from what we can see. But I do believe that many would find it absolutely fascinating to look into other cultures because often times they are more right than we are today. For example, in Celtic Traditions, one of the two Dippers, was the constellation of the Great Bear, where the North Star is located. And moreover, the North Star, is associated with the sign of Aquarius. Ancient cultures, often more times than not, began and ended, with the earth itself as their bases for everything. And it would be understandable, seeing as, this is where we are from. I’ll use a culture that nearly everyone has access to their history to at least to a degree, the Celts and Pre-Celtica, as our example; because what they believed in where each of the seasons began and ended, was nearly universal, around the world. Even the Native Americans believe it to be this way to this day, and also, modern science would confirm this. Spring: It begins on the closest New Moon to February 1st, which is the first of the four Cross Quarters, and is called Imbolc in Celtic Traditions. Summer: It begins on the closest Full Moon to May 1st, which is the second of the four Cross Quarters, and is called Beltane in Celtic Traditions.
LOVE THAT THE BOTH OF YOU ARE TIMING THE ARIES 20min limit, TALKING ABOUT ALL THINGS ARIES…. And AUSTIN comes in with the- ya, time to move it along, start next sign, PERFECTLY* in alignment with his Mercury Aries X placement! Can’t stop smiling- dying over here! (Aries asc) (mars Taurus I) conjunction (moon Taurus I) (also PoF and Chiron Taurus I) Love you guys!
Wow this is amazing!! I have an understanding of astrology but feel I have a much advanced understanding of the signs now, if I saw just this when I was starting out it would help so much. I love all 3 of you combined and what you each bring. Austin love how you explain things so easily quickly, and your humour, it didn’t surprise me you are a Mercury Aries. Kelly love the way you explain astrology in a way which is easy to pick up, you are very clear and have a healing soothing tone. Your knowledge is amazing. Chris, love how you are a deep thinker, and look at the information from all angles getting clarity. You speak fir the viewer. I thought the same about the signs, how there is something from the sign above, or the sign after. Great stuff.
I’m in Aries (sun, mercury, Venus, and Mars) and I love how during the Aries part she said that we all have all 12 zodiac signs somewhere in our chart. I have absolutely zero Earth signs in my tropical chart. I do have some houses in an earth sign, but in terms of my tropical chart, there is absolutely zero Earth. When I found that out, I thought it was really funny! And then it showed me the areas that I needed to compensate for that. Lol Anyway, super informative and entertaining as well ☺️
Thank you for this great episode. I would only briefly like to notice that it would have been great to have heard just a bit more in regards to health issues pertaining to each sign and also how they behave in each house. I feel that we have mostly heard about personal traits and characteristics regarding each sign without much mentioning on how they influence houses for example. I understand that this is a different topic, but short multi-sided description would have been helpful. Still, wonderful to listen to you guys. Warm regards
My daughter is a Gemini and was on a debate team in high school and traveled around for debates. Wow. I’m a Taurus with 1 son Taurus, 1 son Capricorn and 2 daughters in Gemini. My first 3 were born exactly 2 yrs and 10 days apart. May 11th, 21st and 31st. My youngest is my Capricorn and a late Christmas present 28th. I so much understand my children and people around me more by learning astrology. Thank you for this info!
Omg the part about Taurus having to go through (and understands) sequencing is so accurate for me (a Taurus). I’ve actually never understood it as a Taurus trait, I just thought it was a quirk of mine. To me, everything has a natural and logical sequence and if things don’t follow that I get very irritated.
Things makes so much more sense now when I understand where the associations are coming from: the symbolism taken from what actually happens in an astronomical way with the associated planets and that the elements and the modality is the core of the symbolism, not just an extra non-related thing to remember about the signs, as it has felt in the books I have read. Previously I have had a hard time understanding how my rising Leo manifests, but it is utterly clear now when I understand how the fixed qualities of Leo manifests, because that is very me.
I do not have any planet in Taurus so I have always counted myself as out of the “Taurus people” club, desolately, because I like the Taurus archetype so warmfully. As you were talking about the cultivation of taste and the value of things and the touch of snobbinishness, I could not call me out, so I wondered about my chart in relation to Taurus: actually Venus, which rules my 2nd so the way I spend my money, among other things, is conjunct the ruler of my Ascendant and is in the 5th, so her house of Joy. All this to say, listening to you is enlightening, I want to make the next move, beyond the direct association “planet in such sign” or “planet in such house”, so to get the more intricate and less obvious relations in a chart,. Your work is precious, thank you Kelly and Austin, and thank you Chris for hosting such high quality overviews.
Funny thing about my chart.. it says that spontaneity is needed for me to gain momentum, or I’ll over think. Sometimes Aries is characterized by the need to be more immediate, in order to thrive. Fire is more than hot or explosive. It’s warming, it causes change, it’s thermal, it’s light, it actually takes time for a tinder to grow but the feeling of heat is sometimes immediate. Not all fire is all consuming and explosive and finite. Aries lives in the head and has to escape it or be trapped. That’s where the explosion comes in. Aries can mean lava too (earth placements mixed in) or steam/pressure with water, or uplifting when it’s in air. These are all characteristics present in Aries.
As a novice in astrology and a person who has sun and Venus in Taurus i reflect on that i’m a quite good singer in classical music (spent half my life doning it) and im very into beauty, aestetics and pleasures. I dont need a lot of pleasure or a lot of stuff but i want quality in what i have, not quantity. I dress and furnish my home in, almost exclusively, earthy, natural colors and buy a lot of organic and ecological food. When I work, I like to work hard or not at all. Not so much in between. Sorry for another anecdote, but i guess this is my way to say that the correspondences talked about in this article are brilliant. The real deal, so to speak.
I have virgo sun and venus but have a lot of difficulty relating to virgo despite relating to earth and mutable separately. the emphasis on discernment here is one of the first things that has really hit for me. I feel very good at taking in information and knowing what’s correct and what’s nonsense even if I can’t point to why it’s right or wrong immediately. it makes it so I’m very good at teaching myself things while I notice others are more likely to have a hard time knowing what sources to trust.
And re the “feeling of satisfaction” – I’ve said to my own children that my biggest personal fear (aside from losing them of course – lol Cancer Rising) is to not reach my own potential. I think that’s the ultimate “feeling of satisfaction”! Stamping the world with your signature and knowing you did what you came here to do! #virgosun
I would really like to see a Podcast on the topic of “blending signs,” eg, those that are in aversion, with say the Sun in Virgo, Moon in Leo, or Sun in Libra, Moon in Scorpio, Rising in Sagaittarius, with its ruler Jupiter in Scorpio, and so on. I find that hard to interpret, and it would be interesting to hear ways to look at that, and examples.
As a Leo my experience has actually been of very rarely being seen. In fact I spend most of my time seeing others and trying to be as supportive as possible. I actually hate the spotlight and attention, for example if I went to a club I would dance on my own not because I want attention or the spotlight but because I love to dance and celebrate music but O no it’s seen as being an attention seeker. Why more people don’t just bring their own dance and celebrate too I don’t understand and if they do I will celebrate with them. We love to share high vibes. I find that other Leo’s I know have similar experiences. Really don’t need fed by anyone or anything else and if a Leo ever does leave your side it will most likely be because they have EXHAUSTED themselves trying everything. They’re also often seen as being hard headed or my way or the highway but I would argue that they will go their own way and you’re welcome to join them because they must be true to their heart and if you choose a different path they will be ok with that too because they understand the importance of being true to yourself.
2:47:13 and around there…. When Chris said he wanted to get rid of the Theosophical influence on Astrology, I suddenly gained more insight into why he gravitated to Helenism. But the question of the meaning of the whole Circle can be answered in more than that one way. I see the Helenistic influence as the driving force of behind what I would call the reductionistic mechanisaion of the Circle. So, it’s no longer a series of books with chapters but now its a giant metal gear with 360 teeth that engages with 12 smaller gears with 30 teeth, etc. Is this the result of trying to get away from Blavatski? 😆 I see a better option. But I don’t know how to integrate it all yet. If we go back to the earliest forms of Astrology we see different people groups telling their Tribal Stories to their young so as to reinforce their Tribal Identity and practices. These are necessarily bound by time and space which makes finding a unifying narrative for The Circle impossible. Unless we find out which of the various People groups has our most ancient ancestral narrative to find their Star Lore, then find out how their narrative was changed as time went on, into the Tropical form. Then find or create a new narrative that defines the values and traits that you aspire to now, and divide that into 12 parts. I’m still tryin’ to find my way thru this practice and feel somewhat unsupported by all the popular Traditions. Evolutionary Astrology is my current “good enuf” for now, but it has limits as well.
Just butting in to say this Leo Rising is ruled by an Aquarius Sun. Definitely like to give others the spotlight. But, speaking of eyes currently Saturn, the ruler of my sixth, is sitting on my Sun. My eyesight has gotten much worse, and the right eye is worse. This lines up with what you’re saying. The Sun rules my first house of body, and my 6th house ruler, Saturn, is currently sitting on my Sun. Eyes declined more and right eye is worse. It fits.
I’m perusal this, of course in 2024, and am remembering that Beyonce has a Virgo sun. In her concert films (Renaissance and Homecoming), you see how much exacting detail she puts into designing and perfecting her tours. Another pop culture example of a Virgo who is out front. Her contribution is not just in performance, but also behind the scenes in the design of the show.
The way I understand, the Persians believed the world was created when the Sun ingressed into Aries, while the Ascendent could have been in Cancer. I think the Persian and the Egyptian models do not contradict each other: one is about the Sun placement, the other the Ascendent (except that in the Thema Mundi chart, the sun is in Leo). My point is one is about the sun and the other about the Ascendent. Moreover, I think it was the other way around: the Iranians didn’t assign the birth of the cosmos based on their New Year at the moment of the Vernal Equinox, but they celebrated the New Year on the anniversary of the Vernal Equinox. A day after the Vernal Equinox, from which point the day time starts getting longer than the night time, the Light triumphs over darkness: it is the victory of Light over Darkness that they celebrated. In Zoroastrian (or perhaps even Mithraistic) cosmology, Light and Darkness are in cyclical (as well as linear) cosmic battle with each other. The Vernal Equinox marks the cyclical victory of Light over Darkness (and the Saturn-Jupiter conjunctions, marks the progress of the linear battle: ultimately, the Light shall triumph over Darkness for ever). The Winter Solstice marks the birth of the Sun/Mithra (since from that point Sun/daylight starts growing); however, since on the night before the Solstice, dark forces are at their peak of their strength, people gather together and eat red fruits to strengthen the forces of the sun and ward off evil forces (interestingly, they still practice this in modern time).
Hello, I have Grand Water Trine, I win!!! 😀 – Sun, Mercury, Fortune in Scorpio trine Saturn in Pisces (12H) and Moon conjunct Lilith in Cancer (4H). Aries Ascendant and Venus,Mars,Jupiter in Sagittarius is making me leave the house and do stuff. It’s a crazy mix of water and fire. Almost no earth, and 0 air. :(( (at least according to western)
(Talking about fire) Comparing Aries to Leo, I think that Aries being the cardinal manifestation of fire (action- Mars) allows it to be careless about what other people are going to think, say, do, etc. However, since Leo is fixed, and ruled by the Sun its not only aware of the fact that other people are going to be seeing, thinking, saying doing etc. but the fixed modality also means that its spending time with that reality of its (fire) expression. I feel like this is why/where that pesky Leo insecurity kind of resides? And then Sagittarius being mutable and the reactionary manifestation of fire (as opposed to the “match” and the giant ball of gas at the center of everything we know) makes it come across as “rude” (brash) because even though it is a reactionary mutable sign, it is still fire
My older brother is a Taurus sun with libra rising, his Venus is in Aries in his seventh house (which also holds his Taurus sun). He’s the sweetest man ever. Literally so sweet and passionate towards the oppressed (I’m libra rising too with the same beliefs), but oh my god he took his time with relationships. didn’t find his first boyfriend until he was 30, but once he went in, he went in HARD. Had the guy move in within a few months. He’s incredibly selfish in some areas, but in others he’s giving. He’s been complaining about his job and wanting to go back to grad school for 3 years(he’s taking his sweet ass time). He and I obviously have the same houses since we share a rising, but it’s interesting with our 4th house placements because we did have vastly different childhoods even though we grew up in the same household with the same parents. But it’s interesting how our charts have spelled it out.
2:24:00 what Austin said about Leos and projecting self-worth onto what they make/do was spot on. I have ascendant and mars in leo and I can’t stand making and presenting something that isn’t well-done. And it’s e x t r e m e l y hard to do anything I don’t think is right. I think the moral backbone comes from Leo since it’s spine. So even when I have wanted to do things and even when everyone has told me, it’s okay, you’re not a bad person to do it, do it– I just can’t. I’d rather withstand whatever consequences come.
Comprehensive! And you guys fell into the habit somewhat of looking at the Signs as they apply to the Sun and show up as “people”. I’ve been having trouble tryn’ to figure out how they apply to all the Planets. Like what’s the difference between a Neptune in Scopio and Saturn in Scorpio? This info is hard to find in one place.
3:03:14 One famous Virgo in the spotlight I’d like to mention is Beyoncé. She shows a lot of those traits by being very involved in the makings of her shows as well as the business aspects of her career. Love these articles that you guys put out, btw. You’re all a wealth of information for those who are starting out on their astrological journey and the way you break things down gives it a more relatable aspect aside from just reading about it.
Thank you so much for doing such a robust article, Chris, Kelly & Austin. There was so much great information in there that I listened to it more than once; I’m sure I’ll go back to it again. Austin, I embody the analysis paralysis that is expressed in Gemini. In Vedic astrology Gemini is my rising. In Western I have the part of fortune in Gemini in my 11th house. Like Kelly, I have Jupiter (0*) in Leo in my 1st house too. ☀️ I also study personality types in psychology and within the Myers-Briggs type scale the I NFP is also one of the personality type that has that analysis calluses perfectionist streak. Mother Teresa, Beyoncé & Prince Harry are all Virgos. Powerhouses.
The Scorpio dungeon sounds fun 😈🤣 says the Scorpio rising Synchronicity: watering my plants as you start talking about gardening As a Leo sun: I require a lot of support to keep me going, unfortunately. I am incredibly loyal and will do everything I can to make sure that what I’ve said/promised is true, sometimes the main thing keeping me to that is not wanting to be a hypocrite, though 🤣 I don’t do well in subordinate roles.
Omg – just perusal this now as a Virgo and I feel so naked and called out!! Hahahahaha. It’s so true! I analyze and over think especially on the small stuff that I never even start!! I’m also a finger nail picker and I think the analogy of the table leg being sanded into disintegration was interesting because i pick at the them in some weird attempt to make them all smooth and even which they never are so it’s a never ending cycle!! Super insightful podcast. Saving this one!
I feel like my mind has a LOT of gemini qualities, very Mercury in Gemini– except I don’t have any planets anywhere near Gemini. Mercury is, however, conjunct my sun in Libra in the 3rd house, with mutual reception to Venus in Virgo. This has actually been a big issue of mine I’ve been trying to pin down for a few weeks– it wasn’t until hearing your description of Gemini wanting to do everything at once that that clicked for me.
July 8 cancer Moody= able to understand a situation before the others around them. Willing to be honest about what is going on around them. Needy = understands the importance of the relationships and souls they have around them and desire to find their loved ones and to create and share experiences. Why y’all always hating on Cancer. Of course Leo isn’t going to give up any of their shine lol
Sun in Taurus Mercury in Gemini man it makes so much sense growing up the twins had my mind racing and as a bull I was acting on it n jus wrecking anything and everything.. everything I seen as a kid sparked my interest..id look for anything to get into as I got older I was able to control it more… but as a kid I was a menace I wanted to do all the bad stuff my mind was jus racing.
Excellent podcast. Im a Gemini Sun sign and a Virgo rising so i guess this makes sense why my flighty ADHD brain pisses me off and frustrates me so much. Especially that “hypocritical nature” of my gemini grinding against my primary motivation being geared toward 9th house topics. I like my morality and my trickster gemini really throws a wrench in it when i catch myself lying to justify things i know noting about, im just intrigued because of my gemini nature, i attach to new things very quickly.
Oh my I’ve got Venus Virgo and I will also do that with take out food. Yes I’m very particular and expect restaurant food to be at least as good as I could prepare it! But some people don’t get this and will be embarrassed if I complain. Although I’m not rude and I always ask questions about the menu to ensure we are on the same page with expectation! This annoys some people but then I’m not usually the one at the table grumbling about my food afterwards!
I’m aries rising and moon and let me just say the sign I identified the least with was libra! My first reaction was literally- oh this sign just wants to keep things balanced? How boring is that! But I’ve learned to appreciate libra a lot more, and interestingly enough my seventh house and mars are in libra 🙂 Funny how astrology teaches you to appreciate the less accepted/evident parts of yourself
I feel like people with strong Aries influence are allergic to lies or deception. They cannot lie themselves, or when they try it is very noticible – they can try for example, but burst out in laughing or show in other ways that are very noticable that they are not truthfull. The same with their feelings, even in public when they get angry, or moon aries emotional they cannot hide it and the whole room or area will know what they feel. They present themselves honestly – like the way they feel right now. They react to the moment when there is no chance for corruption to taint the situation, feelings or thoughts. Aries prefers to win honestly/fair and with competition – they prefer a tough fight than win easily. Where truth meets truth and fire is being fought with fire. Fire is truth,….its the water and air signs, the emotional and intelectual part of the human that corrupt truth. So far with the readings I did this seems to very accurate part of Aries placements. About the friction part,…try tell an Aries person that you can do it better than them, or that you think they cannot do something. The firction needed to for them to show you exactly that they can do that haha (ofcourse in consideration where Aries is placed for that person)
If sun is (most often) the right eye and moon the left, I wonder if anyone has done a study based on eye dominance as correlated with either sect or sun/moon placements in the chart… Hmmmmmmm….. 🙂 (Also, thanks again all. You are all amazing and these episodes have totally changed my life. perusal for the third time…uncovering more each time). Happy Spring.
love it, big thanks from a “specific Virgo”!! I had to laugh a lot about you all say about Virgos …. yes, indeed, it is so. And yes, Virgos also need to be seen and recognized and often wait for a return of services, earlier or later in time ….. just giving, giving, giving does not work on long term. To be honest, don’t getting the credits make me sad and it happens a lot, unfortunately, because I do not make public my support, but I always expect to be publicly recognized, more or less 🙂 And about perfectionism: I had to learn to manage it and to understand there is no perfectionism in the world. It was not a nice life lesson, but know I am on the other side of the aspect. I start even things/project without any defined plan.
Thanks for sharing 🙋🏻♀️ I’ve seen a few of your meetings before. ☀️ Enjoying the chemistry between you 3. I must watch your Planetary one. Astronomy drew me in first, Astrology was a natural progression to study. I’m Scorpio stellium, Leo Asc & Taurus Moon. 🌝 Full Taurus Moon Lunar return soon & my Solar return on 1st Nov❣ Looking forward to the next cast 💞 🐱♏♌♉ ☮
I believe that the ying yang polorization works from a small scale say within a chackra of human to bigger scales like planets in a network like gears in a watch would to present the current time or how in an orchestra even a triangle is an important instrument or how a grand cross is a trifecta of planets balanced in space so the balance each others quality threw the apex planet wich inturn is in its own scale with another planet and thus each gear or scale of yin and yang keeps flowing and vibrating because flow and vibration cause life ( hope you’ll get back to me on this)
Leo’s are the Royal sign of the Zodiac And without the sun 🌞 there would be no life on earth. Our Zodiac sign Leo we are meant to shine we are the only Zodiac sign who is represented by a star in the sky. We experience a lot of Jelousy. I am fed of people’s put downs where I live. Your Podcast is very good 👍 I learn alot from you. Please can you put up a birth chart for the world.
I had a great laugh about the Virgo Moon guy with carpentry skills. I am a Venus Virgo (Leo Sun/Mercury/Midheaven/North Node) and the more I dive into my own energy with this archetype the more of those skills I want to take on. For example, furniture restoration, interior design/remodeling, carpentry, gardening and landscaping and so on. While turning it into a Youtube website, hah! Basically, if I can get my hands on the mechanics, resources, redesign to make it better I am happy. So long as I do not get lost in making that one part of the design perfect.
Me having Saturn in Aries Austin: … its like, we’ll just do it harder Felt, especially while on the flip I have damn Mars in Cancer 😪 (and Scorpio moon 😆😭) Will say that my former Manager at Sbux of 5yrs would always comment on how regal I was and it was honestly the best compliment to my Leo sun self ❤
Would having a Natal Mercury in retrograde change a Virgos attention to detail, and ability to use discernment? My husband is a Virgo sun and Rising with retrograde Mercury he is NOTHING like a Virgo in terms of detail orientation, discernment, fact checking, etc. Which honestly drives me (Scorpio Sun, Aries Rising, Gemini Moon) crazy as I am always having to fact check, finish tasks and/or pick up/fix things he didn’t even notice.
I remember in an Eastern Purana it says Mercury is a bastard son of Moon, and Moon is mental functions covering emotions, and Mercury is the functions of thought process. This is why no wonder Mercury glyph has a crescent Moon on the top. Why does Purana say Moon & Mercury, mother, and son? In my opinion, is that emotions never separate from thought processes, because generally thought processes never occur apart from emotions. They are intertwined.
Oh my now I know why I am such a mess…I’m taurus gemini cusp …want to sit still but I can’t seem to settle like the butterfly..wish I could be a rock…I’m writting a book..taking forever yet part of me just can’t sit still…lol I’m also rh o negative blood type from two differant blood lines…Indian and on my father’s side…pure European on my mother’s side and English…I’ve been studying 6 years now and my studies are so confusing but yet I feel a part of it all …so dam confusing..have not yet done DNA tests..but the weird thing is my whole soul is drawn to Egyptian study as well as bask…wow you guys have given me some insights on why I feel so darn scattered inside thank you…I am part Venus and mercury..wow it’s hard
I’m a textbook virgo. I have virgo sun, moon and mars in the 10th house and I was just “YES” to everything that was said about virgo hahahaha I’m such a perfectionist and I’m an artist (mercury and venus in libra) so I can find 1000 mistakes in everything I do. Sometimes it totally blocks my desire to be out there (sag rising + jupiter in leo) because I know my mistakes will be seen and it’s almost like I don’t want people to notice I’m not perfect lol The being helpful thing is a big one for me. I wanna be a therapist because I feel like I can help people improve, I can help them be who they were born to be, and I guess that comes from my being able to rationalize emotions when needed and just be pragmatic, so I gather all the information someone gives me, analyze it, make a plan and just give them a guide of “based on what u told me, this is how we should go about it, this is how we can reach this goal”. And I say we because I believe us virgos connect a lot with the person we’re helping, so it’s like “let’s go, take my hand, I wanna see you thrive. I will take you to the podium and leave, you can take the spotlight, I’m happy just by seeing you there”
♊️ and never once did they mention “teacher.” How is that possible? Also in the top 3 of intellectual signs. Aquarius ♒️ trumps Gem only in its ability to stick around lo enough to master what it learns. However, Gems can learn anything, anytime, anywhere he never why I the so easy for use to move on…like the beautiful butterflies 🦋 that we are🙂.
I realy love this – all energy 2day was verry intresting ” seen this today – i just got up don’t know why but – u guys where there – she did a very good job Saying ” little BUT !! As a 12th house Leo sun and Mercury, the Leo part made me laugh. My 12th house Leo lesson was that if I don’t start acting selfishly I’ll be consumed by the selfishness of others. Selfishness probably isn’t the right word, narcissism may be but not in the personality disorder realm.. it was stated every sign is selfish and that’s true, even the virgo is a virgo because they enjoy it which is selfish. Leo selfishness may be more obvious and my other motto is people only call another selfish when it interferes in their own selfishness. I actually looked at Joe Rogan’s chart and he’s probably a great example of a Leo because he’s Leo sun, Mercury, and Jupiter. People like him, guests enjoy being on his show and spending time with him, but his show is just him talking about himself for 3-5 hours a day where the guests are just there to inflate him talking about himself wedged between the same story of doing dmt and how profound it was for self awakening as his reason to keep talking about himself then has the guest build on his talking about himself. Yet, he’s actually entertaining despite nothing of value ever being on his show while it’s still his show where he can do what he wants if he gets 1-3 million subscribers. So many people hate him because he talks about himself and amasses a large audience. I can do that but it comes from air more than sun, but Mercury is in Leo after all; I’m not that interesting. The gemini was entertaining and part of why I checked this out because I became curious about the gemini midheaven due to needing to narrow things down to actually get things done.
