Missouri has approved a bill to allow individuals with certain medical conditions to legally possess and use psilocybin, the primary psychoactive compound found in “magic mushrooms”. Psychedelic mushrooms are illegal in Missouri and are considered a Controlled Substance. Possession and use are a Class D felony, with penalties ranging from heavy fines to imprisonment. Missouri State Sen. Holly Thompson Rehder introduced SB 768 earlier this year to legalize psilocybin, a drug known to some as magic mushrooms.
Currently, people can give away or share psilocybin with others who are 21 years old or older, but are prohibited from selling it. The state is also planning on having licensed psilocybin for use. Missouri State Rep. Tony Lovasco believes that a growing body of research means Missouri should make treatment with psilocybin mushrooms legal.
Psilocybin, the psychedelic drug commonly referred to as “magic mushrooms”, is outlawed in most states, including Missouri. However, a Republican bill introduced by Missouri State Representative Tony Lovasco would allow patients to legally use psilocybin, often called shrooms, to treat certain health conditions. The bill would lift penalties for various subsets of people who use, produce, possess, or administer psilocybin.

This is such a needed law. This will only be for “treatment resistant” depression, such that if patients don’t get better with 2 other medications first, they can try this. With suicide rates being so high, I think this will definitely save lots of lives in Missouri! God bless everyone and stay safe.
