How old is Emily in Amulet?
Emily Hayes and her brother Navin must travel to the world of Alledia after their mother is abducted by a monster. Emily inherits a powerful amulet from her grandfather and strikes a bargain with a dark creature, realizing her magic amulet is tied to a larger conspiracy concerning the mysterious Elf King. The fate of Alledia is in Emily’s hands. Kazu Kibuishi’s “Amulet” series, originally released in 2008, has not slowed down since its first novel’s release.
The series features colorful characters and intriguing themes, with each volume offering a tightly packed adventure. The constant danger facing the Hayes family, such as the pursuit of the Elf King and the meddling of the voice in the stone, establishes an exhilarating momentum. Kibuishi’s designs are fun, with oddball robots, airships, and cityscapes enlarging the eclectic, wondrous world. While inspired by The Last Airbender and Bone, Alledia still feels fresh, with carnivorous and gaunt elves more suited for Innsmouth than Middle Earth.
