Is A New Magical Keyboard On The Horizon?

Apple has announced a new Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models, available for pre-order at its iPad-centric event on May 7. The updated keyboard is designed to be thinner and lighter, making the iPad Pro more portable and versatile than ever. It includes a function row for quick access to controls and is available in Space Black and Silver colors.

The Magic Keyboard is expected to be redesigned with an aluminum finish to make it more Mac-like in appearance in 2024. The updated model of the iPad Pro and iPad Air will also feature a redesigned Magic Keyboard and another version of the Apple Pencil. The new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro (M4) comes in two colors (black and silver) and two sizes: one for the 11-inch Pro and one for the 13-inch model. The new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro costs $299 for the 11-inch model and $349 for the 13-inch model.

A new report from Bloomberg sheds light on what to expect from the new iPad Pro, including slightly larger displays using OLED and a revamped Magic Keyboard to go along with it. The new Smart Folio for iPad Pro attaches magnetically and now supports multiple viewing. The updated Magic Keyboard is expected to be available starting Wednesday, May 15, with the 11-inch model priced at $299.

In addition to the updated iPad Pro and iPad Air, Apple is preparing to launch updated models of the iPad Pro and iPad Air, along with a redesigned Magic Keyboard and another version of the Apple Pencil.

📹 2024 Magic Keyboard iPad Review – I Can’t Believe Apple Didn’t Catch This

Love the updates to the Magic Keyboard for the new iPad Pro’s. One small thing…why does it rock so much?

What is the 2024 Magic Keyboard update?

Apple has introduced a full-function key row in its Magic Keyboard, a feature that is popular among power users. This is a significant upgrade from third-party keyboards like the Logitech Touch combo keyboard for iPad, which offers a pen holder and function keys at a lower cost. However, a dedicated user-programmable key, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro, would be ideal. The Magic Keyboard also offers higher typing speed than Apple’s laptop keyboards. Additionally, Apple has announced an AI-charged overhaul for Siri, which will become a core experience across both in-house and third-party apps.

Will iPad Pro last 10 years?

The lifespan of an iPad depends on various factors, including its battery health, internal hardware, and screen. A newer iPad Pro or iPad Air with more storage and features is likely to last longer than an older or lower-end model. The device’s lifespan can be extended by following proper maintenance, such as keeping up with software updates, cleaning frequently, and keeping its parts in good working order. The lithium ion battery inside the iPad usually lasts 2 to 3 years, depending on how you use it and manage its recharge cycles.

However, using the iPad in extreme temperatures can also degrade the battery. Regular overheating can damage the delicate parts of the iPad, including the lithium battery. Therefore, it is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle and manage your device’s battery life to ensure its longevity.

What is the difference between Magic Keyboard 1 and 2?

The 211 and Keyboard 2 keyboards exhibit notable similarities, with Keyboard 2 displaying a more streamlined and compact design. Notwithstanding, the arrow keys are more conspicuous.

Is there a new iPad Pro coming out in 2024?

Apple has launched the iPad Pro 2024, featuring a Tandem OLED display and the M4 processor, marking the first new iPad since October 2022. The device is thin and lighter than previous iPads but requires new software. Available in two sizes and starting at $999, it also comes with a Smart Keyboard add-on case. The launch is significant for Apple, as it follows a 16-year drop in iPad revenue in the second quarter and hasn’t released a new iPad since October 2022.

How much does the Magic Keyboard 13 2024 weight?

The 11″ version has a weight of 474 grams, while the 13″ version has a weight of 660 grams, making it a slightly lighter option.

When did Magic Keyboard 2 come out?

The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad (A2520) was initially available in silver with white keys, but a black version was introduced on March 8, 2022, alongside the launch of the Mac Studio. Apple announced a Magic Keyboard with integrated trackpad for 2018 and newer iPad Pros with trackpad support in March 2020, which connects through Smart Connector. It also supports the iPad Air released later that year. The Magic Keyboard and Mouse are currently sold with iMac Pro only, and the Space Gray Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad are currently sold with iMac Pro only.

The A2520 Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad is compatible with all M1 Macs, but only sold with iMac for now. The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) is available in US English. Apple also unveils the all-new iPad Air with A14 Bionic, Apple’s most advanced chip.

Will Apple come out with a new keyboard?

Apple has announced a new Magic Keyboard for the latest iPad Pro models, featuring a thinner, lighter design. The keyboard comes in two colors and includes a function row with screen brightness controls, an aluminum palm rest, and a larger trackpad with haptic feedback. The keyboard is designed to feel like using a MacBook, and can be pre-ordered today. The 11-inch model is priced at $299, while the 13-inch version costs $349. The keyboard is available for pre-order starting May 15.

Is the Apple Magic keyboard discontinued?

Apple has confirmed that space gray Magic Keyboards and Mice will be discontinued. The accessories are currently available for purchase on Apple’s store page, but with a “while supplies last” message. Apple confirmed to The Verge that the space gray accessories will no longer be sold after stock runs out, but silver variants will still be available. The discontinuation of the space gray accessories raises questions about whether the dark accessories will remain in demand in the rumored redesign or if Apple will follow the colorful route with the new iMacs. The “while supplies last” label only shows up for the space gray version. The discontinuation of the space gray desktop may affect the demand for external mice and keyboards in the future.

How many models of Magic Keyboard are there?

The Apple Magic Keyboard is a product line with the “Magic” moniker, originating from the “Magic Mouse” which was used to replace the “Mighty Mouse”. The first keyboard was released in 2015, alongside the Magic Mouse 2 and the Magic Trackpad 2. Users sometimes mistakenly call the keyboard “Magic Keyboard 2” and the Apple Aluminium Keyboard range “Magic Keyboard 1”, despite Apple never using that convention for older keyboards. The 2021 redesign of the keyboard has model numbers starting with “MK2”, unlike earlier Magic Keyboards. The keyboard’s history is a product line with a history of trademark infringement.

  • For my usage (basic office, ilustrations, and photo editing), the upgrade i might need would be front camera on the long side like iPad 10, Oled, bigger screen or higher base storage i guess. I think iPad Pro has always been “Depends on the user workflow” type of device. The target audience is super specific unlike the basic iPad. 🐬

  • I bought the first iPad Pro back in 2016 and still use it. Mainly for gaming but occasionally for business work on occasion with the Logitech keyboard I bought for it years ago. Keyboard is banged up but still works perfectly. Logitech makes seriously awesome products! But, like then, it’s not the hardware that’s the limiting factor. It’s the software. When I bought my iPad Pro, Adobe said and Apple wildly promoted this “Adobe apps are just around the corner for the iPad Pro!!!”. It took 5 years for Adobe to finally deliver SOMETHING… Which were really half-ass releases of Photoshop and Lightroom. From what I know, Photoshop STILL doesn’t support 16-bit PSD files. Which basically makes Photoshop useless for photographers. 7 years later, nada. And Apple still doesn’t have Pro features for the iPad Pro in the OS. How about a simple ‘Eject’ button when connecting external media? So you don’t corrupt data by disconnecting the cable with data in use? And it took a LONG time for media like SSD and especially portable drives to be supported. I am extremely grateful for the makers of Capture One and DaVinci Resolve to have their iPad-specific software to run on the iPad. The Capture One software still needs work to be useful. As does Final Cut Pro. They really aren’t there and probably need another year or two. Which is unfortunate. The Resolve software is AMAZING. And they are ALL IN with the iPad with the FULL functionality coming to the iPad Pro. The software is done and been hacked in.

  • I use it as my primary computer. I usually skip a generation. I currently have an M1, and will be buying the M3. I use it for work, personal things, etc. My iPad is my most important device. I prefer it over the MacBooks because it has a pencil I can use to sign documents which is critical in both of my two jobs, plus portability. 🐬

  • My main issue with the current Magic Keyboard is its weight. Together with the iPad it’s comparable to a MacBook Pro 14 which is way more flexible software-wise. If I’m opting for the “lightweight”-software, I want the machine to by physically lightweight as well. I know the weight has a purpose but I think there’s room for a lighter version, even if it’s less sturdy.

  • I recently got the new M1 iPad Air and planning on using it as a laptop alternative, using it for almost a month, I don’t feel any performance issues regarding the M1 chip, but then the storage configuration is a large problem, as I plan to use this device as a creative, it would be nice to have a larger internal storage configuration for the air lineup. Also it would be nice for the newer iPads to have a better port for data transfers and multitasking. Since the M chips now support external displays, the single USB-C port on the IPad Air may not be enough as it maybe used for a lot of things concurrently (ie. Charging, Data transfer, External displays). I believe that sooner or later I would upgrade to the iPad Pro lineup, as the screen and thunderbolt port is appealing for my usage. But the price of the device cannot be justified in my opinion, with the price of the MacBook Air to be so similar to the iPad with the same chip and more power in terms of software and hardware compatibility. It would be nice to see Apple push the development of softwares to take full advantage of the hardware that is in the device. As for accessories support, I am currently using a third party Magic Keyboard alternative, which is nice, getting 90%of the functionality with 20% of the price. Also it would be nice to have a newer generation of the Apple Pencil, since it has been around for 5 years. With more functions like shortcut keys of programmable hot keys on the pen itself. Overall I cannot say much about the iPad Pros, but for my iPad Air, I think it is the most value for the price.

  • I bought my first iPad Pro in 2015 because of the pen tool, I had an iPad Air at the time which is still being used by my mother on a daily basis. As an artist I find it invaluable for sketching, saving images and ideas. In 2022 I upgraded to the new 12.9 and along with my subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud I find I use it every day. I am now trying out IPad Final Cut and I must say between the Adobe Apps (illustrator, Fresco, Photoshop and up to now Rush) I have found all the tools I need to do my marketing, social media, and art work to make my life so much easier. If I didn’t have my iPad pro I’m not sure how I would manage. I also bought a 24″ IMac in 2012 which sadly though it is in perfect working order and with barely a scratch is no longer being supported by the likes of Adobe. I’m guessing a 10 year shelf life for a computer is to be celebrated but it is so frustrating that perfectly good and very expensive Macs are destined for the tip. Given the state of our planet it would be lovely if Apple considered a refurbishment service for such hardware. I for one cannot afford to replace my Mac right now but increasingly as the iPad Pro improves I am finding the need to use my Mac less and less.

  • I have the M2 12.9 inch iPad Pro since I was coming from the 2020 12.9 inch iPad Pro. And with my Doqo 3 Keyboard case with built in Hub. It is now my main unit that I am on all the time. If I need a computer I do have the Apple Studio so the iPad Pro is the one I use all the time. With that built in Hub I even use it to hook up an XLR Mic and Audio interface That is a USB Type A to it and sill have the Type C for pass through charging.

  • 🐬I have the M2 iPad Pro 12.9 series. My only real question is iPadOS 17 related and your iPad in the back. Is that the Paper Like Screen Protector? I have that protector too, but I didn’t put it on my iPad. I bought the all glass protector from BodyGuardz because I knew I would watch more movies than use my Apple Pencil. But as for the iPadOS 17. Does anyone know if the focus mode changes Lock Screen & Home Screen Pics automatically if you setup timed focus modes? Like, on my iPhone I have focus modes for work that automatically turn on and some for specific locations I go to. I was just curious since my iPad is linked. I see the focus mode change. But does the iPad change too? I know its not always on display, but that’s a nerd pet peeve of mine I want. That’s all.

  • How do they say that? I’m blind in one eye can’t see out the other. Otherwise, I’m 73, and diabetic and I use my iPad for absolutely everything! most times I can’t even see what’s on the phone. So every time they’ve done an upgrade on the visuality of an iPad, I have upgraded. And I hope I’ll be around to do a few more.😂😂😂😂

  • If only iPad Pro runs on macOS. iPadOS makes sense for Bionic-powered iPad, but it makes absolutely no sense to Silicon-powered iPad. All the desktop-grade computing power, yet bogged down on what is basically a modern repeat of Windows RT and Windows S Mode. Used to own the M1 iPad Pro before, never again. Sold it for my current Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and never looked back.

  • iPad needs to lower in price of both the hardware itself and also all accessories. Apple will see an increase in sales if they dropped all iPad models by at least $100(student discount not added yet). iPad only users will be happy and Mac users will be more inclined to buy it as a companion to the MacBook.

  • i bought my first iPad in 2013 and used it to learn Arabic. But I have never stopped hating its file management software. IT SUCKS BIGLY after 10 years! I may have a crossing the Rubicon moment never to return if Apple continues to ignore fixing its file management system. It is like having a stealth aircraft with stone age software!

  • I would welcome most of the possible iPad Pro hardware improvements you mention. Especially an OLED 13-inch or even 14-inch display, a revised magic keyboard with function row key strip, larger haptic track pad, and two usb-c / usb 4 data ports (one either side). Due to the iPad Pro’s form factor, I see little benefit of an iPhone style magsafe. MacBook style magsafe would make more sense. If an iPad Pro, especially the large display version, ever got an all glass back, I would never buy another iPad Pro again. It would become the crack my back iPad due to structural integrity issues. The biggest problem I have with the iPad Pro is iPad OS. It cripples the iPad Pro to never be a computer, but rather an oversized iPhone living in a smartphone app ecosystem. I am saving the money I would have used to upgrade my M1 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2TB to an M3 model, for a next gen Microsoft Surface Pro with Qualcomm’s new Oyron ARM processor designed by ex-Apple Silicon engineers. I want to use a full-blown desktop OS on a tablet computer, not some “Micky Mouse” smartphone OS.🐬

  • Apple needs to revamp iPadOS, not iPads. It doesn’t matter how much reviewers try to sell the idea that iPads are great, the fact is iPad is handicapped by iPados. The more you try to use iPad as a hybrid laptop, the more disappointed you will be. iPads are the perfect example of getting yourself wested………After using iPad Air M1 for last couple of months I realised how horrible the software experience is. Stop revving about iPad and make users fool. Rather shout on Apple’s face that they need to make iPadOS useful.
