Rite of Ruin is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Berserker, which enhances the Rage effect and affects any other effect that scales based on Rage, such as the life degen from this skill. The loss of life over time from having rage is not considered damage and cannot be mitigated. Rite of Ruin triples the effects granted from Rage and grants stun immunity while having at least 25 Rage, but causes a significant increase in damage taken against legion monsters.
A GGG dev suggests that Rite of Ruin only triples the Attack damage, attack speed, and movement speed granted by Crave the Slaughter. However, it now requires Crave the Slaughter. The minor node behind Rite of Ruin changed from Physical Attack Damage, Armour to Physical Attack Damage, Attack Speed. Crafting it with Transmutes-alterations can result in increased physical damage and T1/T2 Adds x Physical Damage to attacks.
The Rite of Ruin drains your Life and triples the inherent Rage effects, such as increased Attack Damage, Attack Speed, and Movement Speed. With at least 25 Rage, you are immune to Stuns. Rite of Ruin drains your Life and triples the effects granted from Rage, but causes Rage to degen Life per second while not losing Rage.
AscendancyBerserker8 is the internal ID for the Rite of Ruin passive. Physical Attack Damage, Attack Speed, Basic, 12 increased Attack Physical Damage, 6 increased Attack Speed, 1, 1, 3. Physical Attack Damage, Critical Strike, and the loss of life over time from having rage are not considered damage and cannot be mitigated.

This game is the ultimate playground. I remember back when GTA IV came out I spent so much time doing nothing because I loved Liberty City, and Elden Ring turns that up to 11/10. I’ve tried almost every weapon/spell/clothing/gear and it still feels like I’ve only scratched the surface in terms of how to combine them all.
Little tip for all you who don’t know use the golden epitaph sword found in azuira heroes grave and you can kill death birds and any other creature that lives in death in just a couple of hits does triple the damage on them when you use its ash of war you don’t even need to use the epitaph sword to fight just cast its ash of war and use the weapon you like.
Interesting, I did miss this! I appeared here late at night and a bell bearing enemy appeared in the shack too. I actually just found one smiliar at the merchant in Capital Outskirts, if you show up at noon where the merchant sits he is not there and instead a red spirit enemy appears. Only happens at noon. Everyone may already know this but I thought it was neat.
As far as I can tell, there is at least one night bird for each section of the map you find and they always show up near one of those domelike shaped ruins, the same is true for the night riders but you encounter them on the main roads. I always explore open spaces at night looking for those yummy glowing goodies that now you can see from great distances, including the glowing craniums and the undiscovered sites of grace of course. In doing so, meeting those night creatures is bound to happen. Take some notes so you’ll know where to find them on your next playthrough.
I found this by accident while farming trolls here. Was fighting the troll right by the ruins and deathbird just dropped on top of me. Scared the crap out of me. Somehow I killed it first try with a troll at the same time. Considering I am low level and this is my first play through I was shocked I killed it. Luck probably. Nice article by the way…short and to the point however also easy to follow. I will be sure to check out your other articles.
Just did this on 3 characters. Make sure it’s night time, 130 level was my lowest, no problem. No need for mimic ash or any summons. The only reason you kill the sheep is to get them out of the way for bird/boss fight, but to be honest, the bird kills them as he attacks you. Walk up to the stone pillar where you see the glowing runes to activate this boss….. Pretty easy fight…. But new players could use summon….
